Snide Witch Contessa Brewer’s Attempt To Discredit GOP Congressman’s Economic Expertise Backfires

More of this please, especially when it comes from a snide, leftist ideologue posing as a journalist like Contessa Brewer:

Republicans are quickly learning that MSNBC might be the network where they can best make a splash by forcefully challenging the network’s hosts. Yesterday Congressman Joe Walsh took on Chris Matthews in a no holds barred memorable showdown, and this morning Republican Congressman Mo Brooks left Contessa Brewer nearly speechless when he swatted down an implication from her that he didn’t know anything about economics.


The awkward moment for Brewer took place during this exchange:


Brewer: “You’re simplifying the issues that were on the plate of the nation at that point. I mean we were looking at going – averting a Depression at that point, everyone the Fed chairman . . .
Brooks: “Well I disagree that we were going into a Depression, but go ahead.”
Brewer: “Do you have a degree in economics?”
Brooks: “Yes Ma’am I do, highest honors.”


Brooks’ biography backs up his educational claim, in that he “graduated from Duke University in three years with a double major in political science and economics, with highest honors in economics.” Brooks also scored some political points defending the House Republicans budget plan as something concrete, unlike the “speeches and talk in generalities, which is what the President and the White House staff, along with the Senate, are doing.”

MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer really, really enjoyed a clip from former Wyoming Republican Sen. Alan Simpson, who was criticizing new, socially conservative members of the GOP as “homophobes” and “woman haters.” After airing the clips–from an earlier episode of Hardball–Brewer couldn’t quite resist the urge to add an “amen” in the form of an–assumingly ad-libbed–”Preach it!”


Brewer also set up the clip by describing Simpson as a “truth-teller:”


CONTESSA BREWER: And speaking of truth tellers, former Republican senator Alan Simpson pulls no punches. Here he is with Chris Matthews last night on Hardball railing against the new crop of social conservatives in the Republican Party.


SIMPSON: We have homophobes in our party. That’s disgusting to me. We’re all human beings. We’re all God’s children.


SIMPSON: I’m not sticking with people who are homophobic, anti-women, you know, moral values while you’re diddling your secretary, while you’re giving a speech on moral values, c’mon, get off of it.


BREWER: Preach it! Simpson served as a senator from Wyoming for eighteen years.

Shocker: MSNBC's Contessa Brewer Takes Alan Grayson To Task For Lying, Smear Ad Against GOP Opponent

We criticize MSNBC enough for its naked advocacy on behalf of the Democrats and Barack Obama, so in all fairness, we should note that they do have limits … and Alan Grayson apparently found them. Contessa Brewer engages Grayson on his disgraceful, dishonest “Taliban Dan” smear and — to her credit — refuses to let him off the hook for it. At one point, Grayson accuses Brewer of distracting attention from women’s issues, but Brewer fires back and tells Grayson that he approved the ad and its own off-message smears and out-of-context quotes. If Grayson was serious about the issues, Brewer asks, why not just stick to the issues rather than issue an ad rated “false” by Factcheck?

Finally, MSNBC does some constructive, critical criticism of a far-Left loon. Maybe more of this might help boost their abysmal ratings.

On Monday's News Live, MSNBC's Contessa Brewer expressed incredulity at the revelation that journalist Andrew Breitbart will be appearing at a Republican fundraiser. "I mean, really? Is he going to be a good fund-raiser for the Republicans?" 


Reporter Richard Wolffe lectured, "Because if he is that much of a political activist that he is raising money for the RNC, then he is not quite the journalist he describes himself as." 

Yet, those exact words could be put to Brewer. On July 24, she was the featured guest at a fundraiser in Kentucky for gay rights. This despite the fact that the anchor has also reported on gay rights for MSNBC. On the July 12 News Live, she wondered why American politicians weren't "taking a stand" on ending Don't Ask, Don't tell.


Brewer lectured, "Why aren't more American leaders itching for a fight on gay rights?" Wouldn't this be the type of journalistic contradiction that Brewer and Wolffe were complaining about? 

At Saturday's event, which took place in Kentucky, Brewer asserted, "I've never taken a public stand on a controversial issue. Gay rights are civil rights. Gay rights are human rights and given the invitation to speak, I could not, in good conscience, remain silent."

Yeah, a well-paid white female journalist who works at a lily-white, cable news network should definitely understand a thing or two about "civil rights". Selective "OUTRAGE!" anyone?
