Bill Maher Reads Quote On “Lazy Black People” From….Michelle Obama

Real Time host Bill Maher went to bat to a degree for Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) by comparing his recently-criticized remarks about “inner city men” to an excerpt from a May 2013 speech by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Maher — who noted the “hushed silence” from the crowd regarding Obama’s remarks — specifically quoted from her commencement speech at Bowie State University, in which she said too many young Black people “can’t be bothered” to get a job.

“Instead of walking miles every day to school, they’re sitting on couches for hours playing video games, watching TV,” she said at the time. “Instead of dreaming of being a teacher or a lawyer or a business leader, they’re fantasizing about being a baller or a rapper.”

“I just read this, and you thought it was Paul Ryan,” Maher told comedian W. Kamau Bell.

“Because you told me it was,” Bell replied.

“For a reason,” Maher said. “I’m just asking: Is something less true if a white person says it about black people?”

Maher then said it sounded like Obama agreed with Ryan.

“This sounds even more like, ‘Hey Black people, don’t be lazy,’” Maher said. 

“She’s talking to Black people,” Bell retorted. “We talk to each other differently than we talk to you.”

But Ryan, Center for American Progress president Neera Tanden told Maher, was blaming the Black and Latino communities for their problems. 

“When you look at his budget, what does his budget do?” Tanden said. “Cuts all the programs in these communities — programs that have helped create jobs — and takes it and, until now, his budget has given massive tax cuts to the wealthy.”

Former Rep. Rick Lazio (R-NY) then accused Democrats of squandering the chance to ameliorate the problems when they were in charge of “most of these inner cities,” on top of having a sitting Democratic president in office and a recent majority in Congress.

“They don’t vote,” Maher said of city voters. “They don’t think it makes a difference.”

“Paul Ryan, I would say, made an awkward statement,” Lazio said, as Tanden looked on in apparent disbelief. “At least that guy’s out there talking about poverty. And what happens when Republicans or conservatives pop their head up and start talking about poverty, is that they get smacked down and called a racist.”

Michelle Obama Wears $12,000 Dress To White House State Dinner

Earlier this week President Obama and the First Lady hosted French President Francois Hollande at the White House for an official state dinner. It was quite the affair with caviar, quail eggs, rib-eye and chocolate-malted ganache. 

In case you don't remember, Hollande is a full blown French socialist who deeply believes the only way to help the poor is by demonizing and soaking the rich. Hollande is currently moving forward with his plan in France to tax millionaires 75 percent after receiving approval from a court. President Obama holds similar views and has repeatedly told the rich they need to "pay their fair share" so that the rest of us can have a fair shot at life. 

But it's difficult to take these positions seriously when the people taking them engage in the very lifestyles they claim to abhor. Take for example Michelle Obama, who wore a $12,000 Carolina Herrera designer gown to the state dinner earlier this week. Just a few weeks before the dinner, President Obama argued income inequality is a major problem facing our America. CNSNews noticed the cost of her dress is more than the average household income worldwide.

The blue and black designer dress that first lady Michelle Obama wore to Tuesday’s state dinner for the French president reportedly cost between $10,000 and $12,000, according to news media, which is more than the median annual household income worldwide of $9,733, and greater than the median income for households in at least 87 countries, according to data from Gallup.

Just before the dinner, Michelle Obama tweeted out this photo of her dogs at the dinner table dining on crystal and fancy china.

Obama’s tweet included the signature “-mo,” which indicates that it came directly from her and not from a staff member. The first lady has a long history with Roberts, tweeting her “prayers” for the host before she underwent a bone-marrow transplant last year and appearing with President Barack Obama in a “welcome back” message on ABC in February. Additionally, it was Roberts who conducted the interview during which the president first announced his support for same-sex marriage.

The Truth Behind Michelle Obama's Water Campaign

When it comes to far-Left liberal celebrities getting together with POTUS' wife to campaign for anything, always make sure you read the fine print:

Michelle Obama wants you to drink more water, at least one more glass a day. Frankly, I think it's great. Sure, the science behind some of her claims is somewhere between iffy and debatable. If you're not dehydrated, drinking more water won't give you more energy or cure your headaches, as her office vaguely claims. But it might take up belly space that otherwise would have gone to grape soda, Red Bull or some other sugary concoction.

Team Michelle won't admit this is the real agenda, insisting this is just a healthy, helpful reminder from the first lady. "Water is so basic," she explained from Watertown, Wisc., "and because it is so plentiful, sometimes we just forget about it amid all the ads we watch on television and all the messages we receive every day about what to eat and drink," she said. "The truth is, water just gets drowned out."

Except that's not really true. According to Beverage Tracker (you don't subscribe?), in 1998, soda was our No. 1 drink of choice, with Americans consuming 54 gallons of the stuff every year. Today, it's down to 44 gallons, while water consumption has hit 58 gallons and rising.

Although on one level it may seem as if Obama is breaking the corporate grip on our drinking habits by celebrating the original no-frills beverage, it's more like she's pulling a Ferris Bueller: jumping in front of a parade in progress and acting as if it were for her all along. There's nothing more mainstream than going with the flow.

We tend to talk about culture as if it's something produced solely by obvious outlets like Hollywood or publishing. But the trend toward bottled water (which accounts for 21 of those 58 gallons a year Americans consume) is every bit as real a cultural phenomenon as Miley Cyrus' twerking — even more so. Whenever we talk about ancient Greek or Egyptian culture we spend an awful lot of time talking about what they drank and ate, we study their pots and pans and we even write the occasional ode to their urns. There was no popular demand to see Cyrus behave like a bonobo in heat. There's a very real demand to drink pure water instead of other beverages.

We crossed a milestone in 2006 when, according to the U.S. Census, Americans started drinking more water than beer. Susan McWilliams, a brilliant (liberal) political scientist, lamented this turning point in American culture. "There's a reason that beer commercials tend to include lots of people hanging out in a room together," she writes, "and bottled water commercials tend to include lone individuals climbing things and running around by themselves, usually on a beach at sunrise — even though they are not being chased."

Bottled water is the beverage for an atomized generation that listens to music in a private headphone world.

Beer is social. "Most people drink beer to lower social inhibitions," McWilliams notes, "to make it easier to have conversations with other people, to assuage loneliness, to grease the wheels for engaging in what my students euphemistically call 'relationships' — in other words, to give a form and excuse for social life. You don't drink beer to improve your private, individual health."

This last point is one I can confirm after years of empirical testing.

Indeed, while every brand of bottled water has its own unique sales pitch, they all share one appeal: It's not common water.

Which raises one irony. Lots of socially engaged young people have started to rebel against bottled water on the grounds that all of that plastic is allegedly wasteful and deleterious to the environment. Some will even note that bottled water is an indictment of the public water system, the same way FedEx and UPS reflect poorly on the Post Office. In other words, drinking Fiji water is a kind of lifestyle luxury most associated with elite culture — like eating kale salads and having a home gym. It is of a piece with Michael Bloomberg's notorious efforts to make poor people live the way rich people think they should.

That doesn't make Obama's efforts misguided, but it's worth pointing out that even — or perhaps especially — liberals have a noblesse oblige all their own.

Angry Black Woman Michelle Obama Says Living In White House Like Living In ‘Really Nice Prison’

Nothing pleases this woman, nothing. It's too bad the voting American public was too dumb and naive to not do Michelle O. a favor and return her angry ass back to civilian life:

Speaking at the African First Ladies Summit this morning in Tanzania, First Lady Michelle Obama described living in the White House as living in a “really nice prison.”

Obama was in the middle of an on-stage conversation with former First Lady Laura Bush, when moderater Cokie Roberts reportedly noted that Martha Washington (wife of first President George Washington) once described the First Lady role as being similar to state imprisonment.

According to The Washington Examiner, Obama found that assessment slightly accurate, joking to Roberts that “there are some prison elements to it, but it’s a really nice prison.”

Bush reportedly then reminded the crowd that First Ladies have their own chef, prompting Obama to admit: “You can’t complain. But there is definitely elements that are confining.”

White Privilege And First Lady Michelle Obama’s White, Liberal, Lesbian Heckler

A point that I've been trying to make for years: how white liberals seem to think that they aren't held by the same bounds of white privilege (something black people in this country esp. need to be hip to) as their white, conservative (i.e. "RACIST!!!" counterparts. Leave it to someone I never agree with, far-Left writer (and noted Obama apologist) Tommy Christopher over at Mediaite, to point this out in regards to the recent Michelle Obama heckling incident:

The mainstream media’s narrative about First Lady Michelle Obama‘s handling of a heckler has largely been positive, but has also ignored the role of race in the incident, and its aftermath. Online, however, protester Ellen Sturtz and her supporters have been taking criticism over their perceived sense that interrupting Michelle Obama is not only something they’re entitled to do, but that Mrs. Obama somehow should have welcomed. The source of that sense of entitlement, the theory goes, is white privilege.

It’s no wonder that this facet of the heckling incident has been ignored by the mainstream media. White privilege is even more elusive to them than barely-coded racism, because the mainstream media’s point of view is overwhelmingly white. White privilege is like Palmolive; most white people don’t even know they’re soaking in it until Madge tells them they are, and even then, they don’t believe it. That denial is only strengthened when the person is, themselves, part of a persecuted minority.

In this case, Ellen Sturtz exercised her First Amendment right to interrupt Michelle Obama during a speech, and her right to do so is not in question. Whether it was a good idea is a separate question. She was agitating for an executive order banning discrimination by federal contractors, which can arguably be seen as an incremental step in the direction of the Employment Non-discrimination Act (ENDA). As a beneficiary of straight white privilege, I can only offer my opinion, of limited value, that President Obama seems to have demonstrated that in his case, executive action tends to energize opposition. Patiently pursuing a durable solution instead has tended to work out better. Once again, that’s easy for me to say, since I already have the right to marry, and not be fired over my sexual identity, with the added bonus of ready access to taxicabs.
Also separate from this equation is the wisdom of targeting one of the most well-liked women in the country (despite years of vicious, unquestionably racial attacks by detractors), who is married to the president who has accomplished more for gay rights than any other in history. Throwing glitter on Michele Bachmann may not be all that effective, but at least it makes sense. On the other hand, we’re talking about the issue (although we should be pressing for ENDA, not an executive order), and even allies need to be pressed. From a PR standpoint, though, Mrs. Obama was the wrong choice.

What’s rankling many is Ellen Sturtz’s reaction to Michelle Obama’s kinda badass handling of her heckling. Unlike President Obama, who has a tendency to humor hecklers, sometimes to an absurd degree (Medea Benjamin‘s extended rant reminded me of nothing so much as Will Ferrell‘s Austin Powers character complaining at length about how badly burned he was), the First Lady enacted an instant referendum. Here’s how PolicyMic’s Lauren Rankin described Sturtz’s reaction:

The crowd responded with support for the First Lady while Sturtz was escorted out. And that’s where, if the First Lady was a white woman, the incident would have likely ended. But of course, Michelle Obama is not a white woman.

When interviewed after being escorted out of the fundraiser, Sturtz said of the First Lady, “She came right down in my face. I was taken aback.” Interesting. Sturtz assumed that because the First Lady is supposed to be the embodiment of grace and cool, that she should stand at her lectern and silently endure what she felt was blatant disrespect. Instead, Michelle Obama decided that she had had enough and instead of shouting from across the room, spoke to Sturtz face-to-face and demanded respect. I can’t help but think that if Hillary Clinton or Laura Bush had done the same, that we would all be nodding our heads in support of the First Lady defining how she wishes to be treated.

Rankin went on to point out the reactions of other liberals to the First Lady’s response:

The response has revealed the troubling reality that if you’re a strong, independent, educated, empowered black woman, you are held to a different standard. Everyone from New York Timescolumnist Nicholas Kristof to recent heckler of President Barack Obama and co-founder of Code Pink Medea Benjamin tweeted their disapproval at Michelle Obama’s response, criticizing the First Lady for her “lack of “diplomacy” and snidely labeling it as “not her finest moment.” These comments criticize both Michelle Obama’s intelligence and rationality.

Ellen Sturtz has the excuse of being an apparently inexperienced activist, who perhaps misjudged the intimacy of a private event, and who also had a bad example set for her. Barely a week earlier, Medea Benjamin had let fly at the President, and received praise in response. That experience apparently emboldened her to whitesplain the whole thing to Michelle Obama. It needs to be pointed out here that the news media reported Mrs. Obama “moving towards” or “approaching” Sturtz, which the video bears out, and not the more aggressive “in her face” framing. In case Benjamin’s lecture on manners didn’t quite deliver the message, her next tweet did (emphasis mine):

. @MichelleObama should have been coached, long ago, on how to deal diplomatically w people who stand up to protest govt policies.

Yeah, let’s get Professor Henry Higgins on that right away.

Now, my initial privileged white make reaction was that Michelle Obama could have won bigger had she looked Sturtz in the eye, and said “Excuse me, but have you met my husband? People hate him way more than they hate gay people. If he signed an executive order, it would make ENDA harder to get passed, not easier.”

However, Sturtz’s reaction made me realize that Mrs. Obama faced a different choice in that moment. Because he needs to avoid being seen as the Angry Black Man at all costs, President Obama has had to take a soft, Aikido-like approach to hecklers. The result has been that white people now feel like they can holler during his speeches like they’re at a Mystery Science Theater watch party. Faced with that prospect, Michelle Obama, who doesn’t have policy-making authority in her toolbelt, had to decide if this is how she wants all of her speeches to go, to have well-intentioned white people roll over her with what’s really important. Her decision was no.

This incident appears to have exposed a rift between communities that have become key allies to each other, and that’s unfortunate. Ellen Sturtz took her misguided stand by paying her way into a megabucks private fundraiser, which is emblematic of the privilege associated with gay rights. Rosa Parks couldn’t have done something like that. Coverage of LGBT rights issues centers around things like big gay weddings, and so I think the stakes involved have become diminished.

Being able to marry the person you love, and being free from the fear that you’ll be fired for who you are, are very important, but there’s even more at stake. What animates me to fight for marriage equality, and against employment discrimination, is the elimination of a second-class citizenship that directly contributes to a suicide rate, among gay teenagers, that is three times greater than average, and to violence against them. No imperfect messenger should obscure that, and hopefully, will not.

Really now, what other reason could she have had to make that on-screen cameo at Hollyweird's most popular love-in? She's never been an actress or had any link to the entertainment industry before she became 1st Lady. And I can't recall Michelle O. ever listing "watching movies" as one of her favorite pastimes. No, she was there to profess her love for the Hollywood Left, for all the loot they've unloaded on her and Barry throughout the years and for the radical, Godless, liberal agenda that they're all so wanton to promote and push down people's throats, that and only that:

It was the average too-long, unfunny, over-produced Academy Awards TV show and then, after suffering through the 10-hour (well, it seemed like it) show, there was the first lady. In a ball gown. With military service personnel in dress uniform behind her.

She declared of the Best Picture nominees, “They reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage within ourselves.” Alas, none of the films nor her aides reminded her to mention the military, not those personnel behind her nor those serving overseas, an odd omission for the White House that nevertheless was pleased to have them arrayed behind her like, well, set decoration.

She did have time to give a crumb to the gay community, applauding the movies that inspire us ”no matter who we are or what we look like or who we love,” adding that “they are especially important for our young people.” (Except when they contain gruesome violence, traffic in stereotypes or use gratuitous profanity, I guess.) Real heroes, such as our servicemen and servicewomen, inspire us, too, I would think.

It is not enough that President Obama pops up at every sporting event in the nation. Now the first lady feels entitled, with military personnel as props, to intrude on other forms of entertaining (this time for the benefit of the Hollywood glitterati who so lavishly paid for her husband’s election). I’m sure the left will holler that once again conservatives are being grouchy and have it in for the Obamas. Seriously, if they really had their president’s interests at heart, they’d steer away from encouraging these celebrity appearances. It makes both the president and the first lady seem small and grasping. In this case, it was just downright weird.

No one, it seems, gets within a mile of the White House with any sense of restraint. No one there would dare suggest nearly half the country didn’t vote for him and doesn’t much like him and might want to be left to their small daily pleasures. (Greta Garbo said it best.) And no one there is apt to explain that the White House, the military and the first lady (not this one in particular) are institutions bigger than the Obamas and their e-mail list.

Still, it would have been grand if the lefty-maligned “Zero Dark Thirty” (which showed the nasty interrogation techniques her husband deplored) had won Best Picture. Unfortunately, that sort of perfect karma happens only in the movies.

Angry Black Woman Michelle Obama Rolls Her Eyes At John Boehner

It's not even about this being a "real moment", it's the fact that because Michelle Obama is nothing but a puppet for the white, social liberal agenda, the superficially-obsessed Left love to grace her with words like "classy" and "graceful" while obsessing over her fashion choices. But underneath it all Michelle Obama is a hoodrat and an angry, black woman who has openly expressed her disdain for politics and having to put up with being POTUS' sidekick. Conservatives know this all too well and now it's there (again) for all the world to see that this woman is a disgrace:

First lady Michelle Obama was captured on video rolling her eyes twice in response to something House Speaker John Boehner said to her husband at the president’s Inauguration Day luncheon in the Capitol Building on Monday. 

While the substance of Boehner’s comments has not been revealed and cannot be heard in the clip, the first lady’s response to them has become the subject of intense fascination since Tumblr blogger Mattyrab first posted the video.

The soured relationship between the President and the speaker has received ample scrutiny, especially in light of the partisan standoffs over the fiscal cliff and the debt ceiling, but before today little had been written on how the first lady and Boehner viewed each other.

As yet, neither the White House nor the speaker’s office has commented on what Boehner and the President had been discussing or why it elicited such a marked response from the first lady. 

Whatever the divergence of opinion, there was something that Boehner and the first lady agreed upon, however. 

 

"Michelle and the speaker of the House came to a meeting of the minds that I may be delaying the proceedings too much," Obama told the audience. "And so I'm just going to be extraordinarily brief and say thank you."

Michelle Obama Takes 16th Vacation Since Becoming First Lady

It's no secret to conservatives that no one has ever taken advantage of all the glitz, glamour and perks that come with residing in the White House like Barack and Michelle Obama have. Whether it's hosting lavish parties (on taxpayer money) for all their rich and leftist celebrity friends or taking unprecedented trips to upscale golf courses around the country or going on vacations to famous spots around the globe that the average American can only dream about, Barry and fam have taken to the term "living it up" to new levels since Obama's shocking election win in 2008. Of course, knowing that the liberal press will turn their nose on any Democratic president who spends a record amount of leisure time away from the daily rigors of the actual job he was elected to do only helps Barry and Co. get away with what would be considered "OUTRAGE" if it were say a Republican president and/or his First Lady conducting themselves in such a poor manner. But what the hey:

With the economy on its knees, many American families have had to forgo their annual holiday just to make ends meet.


But barely a month after returning from a luxury Christmas break in Hawaii Michelle Obama is on holiday again - this time at the exclusive Colorado ski resort of Aspen. It's her 16th holiday since her husband took office.


The First Lady Michelle Obama is spending Presidents' Day weekend in the upmarket resort with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, and was seen hitting the slopes - albeit apprehensively - on Saturday.


The Secret Service have been in town for the past few days looking for safe places for the family to relax.


Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo confirmed Mrs Obama arrived Friday afternoon, saying, 'it's a privilege to have the first lady here.' He told the Aspen Daily News he met with Secret Service officers and has placed seven of his deputies at the service of the First Family.


The holiday is not the first time the first girls have been on skis.


Their first attempt came in Feb 2010 when she took the girls to Liberty Mountain Resort, in Carroll Valley, Pa. just is 60 minutes from the White House.


And last year Mrs Obama took Sasha and Malia to Vail and Beaver Creek last Presidents' Day just days after the President tried to sell his cost-cutting budget to the American people by asking them to stay at home.


‘If you’re a family trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation,’ he said.


Once again while Mr Obama returned to the White House after a fundraising trip to West Coast, the rest of his family headed to Colorado – rather than visiting slopes closer to Washington in Virginia or Pennsylvania.


Their trip came despite previous criticisms over the family's extravagant vacations, including a trip last summer to Martha's Vineyeard where the family rented a farm estate for around $50,000 a week.

On Thursday’s O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly strongly pushed back against a report by ABC News’ World News Tonight that he had advanced the narrative that First Lady Michelle Obama was an “angry black woman.” “ABC News didn’t tell the audience it got its clip they used on me from the far-left web site Media Matters which is in business solely to smear non-liberal media people,” O’Reilly opined. “We brought the situation to ABC’s attention today they say from now on they will call people like me who are injected into their news coverage. I think it’s important because I’m simply not going to let the presidential campaign degenerate into a race-baiting media propaganda exposition…let’s cut the crap.”


According to O’Reilly, ABC News used audio extracted from a Media Matters blog post from September 16, 2008:


During the “Obama Chronicles” segment of the September 16 edition of Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly stated of Michelle Obama: “Now I have a lot of people who call me on the radio and say she looks angry. And I have to say there’s some validity to that. She looks like an angry woman.”


During the segment, O’Reilly asked Vogue magazine contributing editor Rebecca Johnson: “The perception is that she’s angry in some quarters. Valid?”


“That sounds kind of bad, does it not?” O’Reilly acknowledged. “Here is the context — that interview was done three and a half years ago when the country was still getting to know Mrs. Obama, who did have some problems in the beginning. You will remember the ‘proud of her country remark.’”


During the segment defending himself, O’Reilly played a montage of every nice thing he has ever said about the First Lady.


“For ABC to paint me critical of her is flat-out dishonest,” O’Reilly exclaimed. “A lot of us have a lot riding on America’s future. It’s about America’s future. Let’s cut the crap. Can we?”

Sarah Palin Mocks Michelle Obama

Sarah Palin addressed a variety of issues Thursday at a gathering of business officials in Long Island, New York including her 2012 plans, first lady Michelle Obama, President Obama's proposed budget, the crisis in Egypt, and her feelings on the media.


Here's a snapshot of what she had to say:


On her 2012 ambitions:
"I am still thinking of leading this country. I am still thinking about it. I haven't made up my mind. We hired a chief of staff because Todd is getting tired of doing it for me."


When asked who else she might envision at the top of the GOP ticket Palin responded, "No one is more qualified to multi-tasking and doing all the things you need to do as a President than a woman."


She then began reciting from her resume, listing her experience as a mayor and running for Vice President.


"What I would look for in terms of character is someone who's been on the front lines, who understands how to administer, how to lead a team, how to run a business."


On Michelle Obama:
"No wonder Michelle Obama is telling people to breast feed their babies, because the price of milk is rising so high."


She then warned the dozens of reporters at her question and answer event, "That better not be the takeaway here."

Megyn Kelly And Alan Colmes Defend Michelle Obama From Right-Wing Criticism

Because FOX is just a 'political arm of the GOP' or so the loon mantra goes:

A wary and weary Alan Colmes stopped by America Live this afternoon to weigh in on (sigh) whether or not First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” fitness and health program is responsible for a rise in pedestrian deaths, essentially transforming quiet suburban streets into veritable death channels… and to act as a fashion critic.


Colmes opined that the recent rise in Barack Obama’s ratings to around 53 percent may have prompted Obama’s critics to zero in on the First Lady – and Obama’s young daughters – instead.


Host Megyn Kelly and Colmes also discussed whether President and Ms. Obama’s decision to wear red, often associated with communism, to dinner with Chinese Premier Hu Jintao was offensive or inappropriate. Kelly didn’t think so, and even began laughing when she mentioned criticism over Sasha Obama’s red pants. She also pointed out that Laura Bush and President George W. Bush chose to wear red when meeting Hu. Colmes, for one, thought Ms. Obama’s Alexander McQueen dress was, in a word, “kickin.’” And, besides, he pointed out, red signifies joy and luck in Chinese culture.

Sarah Palin Disses Michelle Obama Over 'Dessert'

Sarah Palin is again taking aim at Michelle Obama over her anti-obesity campaign, taking the opportunity in Sunday's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" to land a diss against the first lady's efforts to improve nutrition.


While making s'mores at one point during Sunday's episode, the former Alaska governor proclaims the marshmallow and chocolate treat is "in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert."


It's not the first time Palin has taken a jab at Mrs. Obama over her campaign to discourage fattening foods, especially from public schools. The former vice presidential nominee told conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham last month that "the first lady cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."


Palin also hand-delivered cookies to a Pennsylvania school last month before delivering a speech there, saying: "Who should be deciding what I eat? Should it be government or should it be parents? It should be the parents."

I like Sarah going after Michelle, but she needs to stop getting riled over constructive criticism from fellow Republican pundits. It makes her look petty.

Michelle Obama Calls Being First Lady "Hell"

Maybe life in the White House isn't so bad after all. 

First lady Michelle Obama's office and the French Embassy both denied on Thursday that Obama ever told French first lady Carla Bruni that being first lady of the United States is "hell," as reported in an eye-catching excerpt of a new biography of Bruni. 

"The first lady never said that," Obama's press secretary, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, said. 

"Mrs. Bruni-Sarkozy distances herself completely from the content of the book," French Embassy spokesman Emmanuel Lenain said in a statement. "The words attributed to the first lady of the United States were never said." 

Lenain said the book, "Carla and the Ambitious," was not authorized, and that only the authors are responsible for its contents -- though the book had been billed as the "official" biography. A separate unauthorized biography of Bruni has been penned by author Besma Lahouri.

Good to see that Michelle "Angry Black Woman" Obama is back. Not that the people who've really been paying attention didn't know that Michelle O. couldn't keep playing pretend-to-be-nice for too long anyway. From her memorable "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country” line to her exiling Barry's mistress Vera Baker to the Caribbean the fact that an educated (she has a Harvard law degree yunno), black woman doesn't like taking a back seat to no man, the idea that Michelle O. would be happy as 1st Lady is a joke. And now her true feelings on the duties of being Barry's sidekick are there for all the world to see: "It's hell. I can't stand it". Thanks Michelle. Now Americans have added motivation (and a duty) to make sure that your stay as 1st Lady is as short as possible.

White House Aides Warned Michelle Obama About Spain Vacation

The New York Times reports First Lady Michelle Obama's aides cautioned against her going on the early August European vacation in which she stayed at a 5-star resort in Spain and mingled with royalty. The lavish trip, the aides reportedly argued, could result in harm to her image. "Aides say privately that they warned her there would be a cost to the trip, but she overruled them, insisting it was a rare chance to spend time with Sasha and with a friend whose father had died," the paper reports. "But the intensity of the uproar -- including accusations that she was a 'modern-day Marie Antoinette' -- caught the White House and Mrs. Obama off guard."

The trip resulted in the first extended negative press of the First Lady's time in the White House. Critics questioned why Mrs. Obama chose to go to a glitzy, high-priced resort at a time when unemployment is high and many Americans are suffering economically.

A Wall Street Journal/NBC poll taken during the trip showed that just 50 percent of those surveyed had a positive impression of Mrs. Obama -- down from 64 percent in April 2009 and 55 percent earlier this year.

Kirsten Powers Calls Michelle Obama’s Spain Trip ‘Absolutely Tone Deaf’

It’s August– typically a buzzing vacation season for many Americans that has been hampered by the recent economic downturn. For many who find their holiday time diminished due to the recession, Michelle Obama’s vacation to southern Spain has seemed inappropriate, and on last night’s Geraldo at Large, Democratic Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers condemned the trip as “absolutely tone-deaf,” and noted that she couldn’t “believe that she has done it.”

Opening the segment, Geraldo Rivera gave some stats on the kind of money the First Lady is dropping in Andalucía and noted that, while he was a fan of the Michelle Obama’s, he was uncomfortable with the trip. Republican strategist Noelle Nikpour weighed in, noting that, while she is a Republican and, thus, expected to take the position, she still wondered what Obama’s “carbon footprint going over there” was and criticized her for not visiting the Gulf of Mexico, instead. But it was Powers who gave the more surprising comment, noting that, while she doesn’t “think it’s anybody’s business whether they spend his birthday together or not,” the Spain trip was just all-around bad optics:

“Most Americans are just not going to relate to going to Spain with however many friends she has with her… staying at this exclusive hotel, spending all this money, and it is extremely tone-deaf. Politically, it is absolutely tone-deaf. I can’t even believe that she has done it, frankly. It is not what people do in their first term.”

No political pundit is more objective on the issues than Kristen Powers. None. Screw ideology, she plays down the line and that's all we can ask for.

With Ongoing Recession Michelle Obama Takes $375,000 Vacation

We can guarantee that if this was Laura Bush, Michelle O. would be feeling the heat of pulling such an ignorant stunt. Then too didn't Michelle and co. just get back from a vacation in Maine? But snobbery is the way of the world for the liberal elite.

Sacrifice is something that many Americans are becoming all too familiar with during this economic downturn. 

It was a key theme in President Obama's inaugural address to the nation, and he's referenced it numerous times when lecturing the country on how to get back on its feet.

But while most of the country is pinching pennies and downsizing  summer sojourns - or forgoing them altogether - the Obamas don't seem to be heeding their own advice. While many of us are struggling, the First Lady is spending the next few days in a five-star hotel on the chic Costa del Sol in southern SpainCNN, the group is expected to occupy 60 to 70 rooms, more than a third of the lodgings at the 160-room resort. Not exactly what one would call cutting back in troubled times. with 40 of her "closest friends." According to

Reports are calling the lodgings of  Obama's Spanish fiesta, the Hotel Villa Padierna in Marbella, "luxurious," "posh" and "a millionaires' playground." Estimated room rate per night? Up to a staggering $2,500. Method of transportation? Air Force Two.

To be clear, what the Obamas do with their money is one thing; what they do with ours is another. 

Transporting and housing the estimated 70 Secret Service agents who will flank the material girl will cost the taxpayers a pretty penny.

Perhaps it could be that the Obamas, who seem to fancy themselves more along the lines of international celebrities than actual leaders, espouse a different view of sacrifice. When Michelle Obama accompanied her husband to Copenhagen along with best buddy Oprah Winfrey, she billed the trip - an ultimately unsuccessful bid to bring the Olympics to Chicago - as follows: "As much of a sacrifice as people say this is for me or Oprah or the President to come for these few days, so many of you in this room have been working for years to bring this bid home."
