Let's Not Count Our Chickens Just Yet On Alito

As far as the press is concerned it's a done deal that Samuel Alito will make it to the Supreme Court.

Samuel Alito coasted toward confirmation as the 110th Supreme Court justice Thursday, ending 18 grueling hours of Senate interrogation with Democrats showing little appetite for a last-ditch filibuster attempt on the Senate floor.

"I am my own person, with whatever abilities I have and whatever limitations I have," Alito declared as he wrapped up his final public appearance before senators begin voting on his nomination to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

Democrats contend the former Reagan administration lawyer is likely to swing the court to the right in replacing the centrist Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who has provided decisive votes on such important issues as abortion, capital punishment and affirmative action.

Judiciary Committee senators are scheduled to meet next Tuesday to begin debating the 55-year-old federal judge's nomination. Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., had wanted a committee vote then, but Democrats have talked of seeking a delay.

At the same time, Sen. Dick Durbin, a member of the committee and his party's second-ranking leader, suggested Democrats would not attempt to filibuster, which would require Republicans to gain 60 votes to advance the nomination. "When you consider the numbers involved, it is unlikely," he said.

Sorry, and call me a cynic, but I wont be comfortable until the votes are all in. After 3 days of seeing liberal senators disrespect, malign, lie and do any and everything to discredit Alito's character and credibility, I refuse to take these MoveOn-controlled snakes for granted.

Liberal Senators Should Just Up and Leave

This has gone way beyond stupid.

WASHINGTON Jan 11, 2006 — Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito turned aside Democratic attacks on his judicial record and credibility at contentious confirmation hearings Wednesday that left his wife in tears.

"If I'm confirmed I'll be myself," said Alito, a 15-year veteran of a federal appeals court, named to succeed Justice Sandra Day O'Connor for a swing seat on the high court.

Challenged by Democrats, Alito repeatedly said he had no memory of involvement with the conservative Concerned Alumni of Princeton, though he highlighted his membership in a 1985 job application for the Reagan administration.

He repudiated the opinions expressed in articles in the organization's magazine. "They're not my views Â… I deplore them," he said of writing that contained material that was racist, sexist and homophobic.

Under persistent questioning, Alito also declined for a second straight day to say whether he believes, as he did in 1985, that the Constitution contains no right to an abortion. "I don't think it's appropriate for me to speak about issues that could realistically come up" before the courts, he said.

Why doesn't Ted Kennedy and the rest of his liberal cronies just up and leave the Senate judiciary hearings? We already know how they're going to vote so quit wasting people's time and just phone in your "NO!"'s instead. Quit playing games with the American people, quit embarrassingng yourselves and quit disrespecting Samuel Alito and his family. Your votes were long cast the minute George W. Bush was given a chance to pick a judge for the Supreme Court. The American public is not stupid enough to think that liberal senators with a vendetta on their minds would even come close to giving a conservative nominee a fair shake. Especially after Sandra O'Connor (only after saying "yes" to the financial windfall that is Roe v. Wade), suddenly became every liberals' favorite judge. Especially after Kennedy and 21 of his MoveOn minions said a resounding "NO!" to the all-too-qualified John Roberts last year.

Bottom line, Samuel Alito doesn't stand a chance against liberal senators more concerned about their duty to special interests groups than their duty as senators. These charlatans don't care about being impartial, they only care about keeping the Ruth Ginsburg Supreme Court intact. Besides performing a full-scale abortion on the Senate floor, there is nothing that Alito can do to change the MoveOn controlled senators minds, so why take us through this painstaking task of belittling Alito?

To set up their takeover for 2006.

Can The GOP Get Rid Of Kathleen Blanco?

Considering the level of Gov. Kathleen Blanco's ineptitude, this should've started awhile ago.

A Republican who says she has never worked on a political campaign filed documents Tuesday launching a drive to oust Gov. Kathleen Blanco, who was harshly criticized for her response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Kat Landry, who filed a recall petition with state elections officials, said Louisiana needs new leadership to recover from the storms' back-to-back blows. "What we have seen in the past few months is a lack of leadership, a lack of communication, a lack of understanding of how to get things done," Landry said.

In Louisiana, getting a recall on the ballot requires petition signatures from at least one-third of the state's registered voters, or about 900,000 people, in 180 days, according to Jennifer Marusak of the secretary of state's office.

The 180-day period for gathering signatures began Tuesday, when the petition was filed, Marusak said. If the proper signatures are gathered, a majority of voters in a recall election would have to vote to get rid of Blanco, a Democrat, before she would be forced out of office.

Blanco was out of the country Tuesday, studying flood-control measures in Holland, and unavailable to comment. A spokesman of hers would not comment on the petition.

It might be a longshot, but I certainly hope that this drive to get rid of Blanco succeeds. She blamed everybody but herself for her state's tepid response to Hurricane Katrina and recently TIME magazine, rightfully, branded Blanco one of the 5 worst governors in the entire country.

Times of crisis cry for leadership and when it came to the aftereffects of Hurricane Katrina, Kathleen Blanco failed to provide any. As New Orleans gets back on its feet, it's going to have to look within itself and make some serious changes to its character. And that starts at the top.

Celebrities Are Idiots #5: Harry Belafonte

The so-called "Black leadership" in this country is in need of some serious changes.

Harry Belafonte is an old man and obviously a very tired old man because these kind of statements have been coming out of his mouth for too long now. His hate speech is beyond being comical, it's utter lunacy. And since I believe in the concept of calling a spade a spade, I'm just going to say that if Harry Belafonte truly believes the nonsense that comes out of his mouth than he's a very stupid man in need of more help than anyone on this planet can give him. And that's the saddest part of all of this.

NOW Needs To Lay Off Joe Paterno

The billion-dollar abortion cash cow that is the The National Organization of Women are now burning their precious bars over legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. Why? Because Paterno, in defending a player accused of sexual assault, dared to suggest that the accusation may not be true.

Women's rights advocates who say Joe Paterno made outrageous remarks about an alleged sexual assault in Florida are asking the Penn State football coach to resign.

Joanne Tosti-Vasey, president of the National Organization for Women in Pennsylvania, said Paterno's comments on Monday represent an institutional insensitivity that endangers women.

The coach's remarks came a day before the Orange Bowl, when a reporter asked a question related to Florida State linebacker A.J. Nicholson. Nicholson was accused of sexual assault and was sent home before Tuesday's game.

According to an official transcript from the Orange Bowl, Paterno replied by talking about past suspensions of Penn State players. He then added this:

"There's some tough -- there's so many people gravitating to these kids. He may not have even known what he was getting into, Nicholson. They knock on the door; somebody may knock on the door; a cute girl knocks on the door.

"What do you do?" Paterno went on. "Geez. I hope -- thank God they don't knock on my door because I'd refer them to a couple of other rooms.

"But that's too bad," he said. "You hate to see that. I really do. You like to see a kid end up his football career. He's a heck of a football player, by the way; he's a really good football player. And it's just too bad."

Tosti-Vasey issued a news release late Friday night calling for Paterno's resignation. A Bellefonte resident, she said she sent e-mails Saturday to Paterno, university President Graham Spanier and athletic director Tim Curley.

Whenever NOW gets involved with anything I know that something shady is up. Mind you, while I do feel that there are organizations that need to address issues surrounding women like matters of health, discrimination based on gender, domestic abuse and sexual crimes, NOW is not that group.

The fact is that NOW is nothing more than a propaganda machine, that cares little about the plight of women. These bullies in skirts ignore truth and fabricate libelous fiction in their sexist and twisted obsession with so-called "radical" issues. And going after Joe Paterno (who also happens to be a conservative & close friend of former President Bush) is just another example of NOW's lunacy.

A male student-athlete is accused of sexual assault and of course, NOW is ready to play judge, jury and executioner. Put aside the fact that Paterno's words were clearly taken out of context as evidenced by the fact that NOW is only using a part of the coach's entire statement to reporters in their little campaign to have Paterno resign. And besides Paterno being a successful football coach, he's also helped to graduate hundreds of kids, takes great pride in the value of education, has done plenty for his community and has no record of ever displaying any kind of salacious behavior towards women. Plus, the man is 79-years-old for chrissakes!

So in fact, this whole brouhaha just comes off as NOW being typical with their self-serving tactics and twisting words for their own agenda.

With their venomous dogma of treating all women like they're nothing but victims incapable of surviving in a world "dominated" by men, NOW and their liberal self-interests help no one but themselves. So recent cases of "honor killings" in the Muslim world, abuse against young schoolgirls in Afghanistan and a Vermont judge just the other day letting a serial rapist go because the sick judge "doesn't believe in punishment" get ignored by NOW, because they're too busy picking on irreverent things like Joe Paterno supposedly making a sexist comment.

Paterno shouldn't resign, instead he would be right to just ignore the demagogues, revel in his recent Bowl win and continue to make fools out of all the "experts" in the media who all called for his head in 2004 because of his old age.
