CNN’s Don Lemon Backs Up Bill O’Reilly: ‘He Doesn’t Go Far Enough’ In Criticizing Black Culture

Bill O’Reilly’s remarks on race last week drew heavy criticism from Chris Hayes, Bill Maher, Al Sharpton, Larry Wilmore, and more, but one unlikely person is agreeing with him: CNN host Don Lemon.

Lemon addressed the wounds inflicted by black males onto their community on his “No Talking Points” segment Saturday afternoon, saying he was able to bring this up now that the George Zimmerman trial had concluded. Before the verdict, right wing media had consistently asked why the “liberal media” was fixating on Trayvon Martin while ignoring rampant black-on-black violence, a “deflection,” in Lemon’s words, from the injustices of the Martin shooting. But now that Zimmerman had been acquitted, it was time “for some tough love on the subject.”

Lemon played a clip of O’Reilly stating, “The reason there is so much violence and chaos in the black precincts is the disintegration of the African American family…Raised without much structure, young black men often reject education and gravitate towards the street culture, drugs, hustling, gangs. Nobody forces them to do that. Again, it is a personal decision.” 

“Bill’s got a point,” Lemon said. “In fact, he’s got more than a point…In my estimation, he doesn’t go far enough.”

Lemon then listed five essential reforms black men need to make in their lives in order to improve themselves and their communities: hike up their pants, remove the n-word from their vocabulary, take care of their communities, finish high school, and lower the rate of children born out of wedlock.

“More than 72% of children in the African Americans are born out of wedlock,” Lemon said. “Studies show that lack of a male role model is an express train right to prison, and the cycle continues.”

“Please, pay attention to and think about what has been presented in recent history as aceptable behavior,” Lemon finished. “Pay close attention to the hip hop and rap culture that many of you embrace, a culture that glorifies everything I just mentioned, thug and reprehensible behavior, a culture that is making a lot of people rich—just not you. And it’s not going to.”

“That said, though, the political right is not off the hook.” Lemon played a clip of Kirsten Powers remarking on how convenient it was the conservative media only cares about black violence when they can use it to “stick it to the black community.”

Ann Coulter Shreds George Zimmerman Coverage: Media Wants To Show Racist U.S. Is ‘Trying To Rape And Murder Black People’

Ann Coulter sat down with Sean Hannity tonight lambasting the way the mainstream media has been covering the George Zimmerman murder trial since if began mere weeks ago. Both of them agreed that the media proclaimed Zimmerman guilty long before the trial began and overplayed the racial angle, while Coulter compared this case to the Duke Lacrosse rape case from a few years ago, saying that the media’s trying to tell the public here that “racist America is out trying to rape and murder black people.”

Coulter proclaimed that liberals always “gin up the racial demagoguery” in cases like this, and doubted anyone would have cared about the trial if the races were reversed. She compared the Zimmerman trial to the Duke Lacrosse case that was also hyped up in the media to explain why this particular case is getting so much attention.

“They need their fake cause of how racist America is out trying to rape and murder black people.”

She also found it ludicrous that a lot of the media coverage seems to assume that Zimmerman has to prove “he did not engage in racial profiling,” because it’s not a crime to do so, and added that Trayvon Martin never even needed to lift a finger for Zimmerman to think his life was in danger.

Hannity added it bothers him that it looks like the prosecution started out by overcharging and are only now putting out lower charges with the hope that the jury “cuts the difference.”

Desperate For Black Votes Barack Obama Exploits Tayvon Martin's Death

Actually I'll give Barry a little benefit of the doubt here. Because after speaking out on white, liberal shill Sandra Fluke a couple of weeks ago he really had no choice but to say something about Tayvon Martin. But considering how it's an election year and the fact that Barry has done nothing for the 98& of the black electorate that voted for him in 2008, it's not wrong to say that this comment on the Martin tragedy may have killed two birds with one stone despite the fact that Barry shouldn't have said anything about Fluke in the first place:

President Barack Obama spoke out Friday for the first time on the growing national controversy over the shooting of an unarmed African-American teenager in Florida, saying that the incident requires national "soul-searching."


"When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids," Obama said. "And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and that everybody pulls together, federal, state and local to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened."


Trayvon Martin, 17, died February 26. Police say he was shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Florida, who said he was acting in self-defense. Martin was unarmed, carrying a bag of Skittles candy and an iced tea, according to police.


Although a grand jury will convene April 10 to look into the case, authorities so far have declined to arrest the volunteer, George Zimmerman, sparking a national debate over Florida's "stand your ground" deadly force law amid concerns about racial profiling.


Martin's family asserts that race was a factor in the teenager's death.


A police report describes Zimmerman as white; his family says he is Hispanic and that he has been wrongly described as a racist.


Obama's unexpected comments brought a new dimension to a case that has generated intense response from across the country, elevating what the White House had previously described as a matter for local law-enforcement into one deemed worthy of presidential comment.


Obama praised Florida Gov. Rick Scott's decision to create a task force to review the "stand your ground" law and said that it would be important to "examine the laws and the context for what happened as well as the specifics of the incident."


"But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon," Obama said.


"I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americas are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and we will get to the bottom of exactly what happened," he said.

It’s August– typically a buzzing vacation season for many Americans that has been hampered by the recent economic downturn. For many who find their holiday time diminished due to the recession, Michelle Obama’s vacation to southern Spain has seemed inappropriate, and on last night’s Geraldo at Large, Democratic Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers condemned the trip as “absolutely tone-deaf,” and noted that she couldn’t “believe that she has done it.”

Opening the segment, Geraldo Rivera gave some stats on the kind of money the First Lady is dropping in Andalucía and noted that, while he was a fan of the Michelle Obama’s, he was uncomfortable with the trip. Republican strategist Noelle Nikpour weighed in, noting that, while she is a Republican and, thus, expected to take the position, she still wondered what Obama’s “carbon footprint going over there” was and criticized her for not visiting the Gulf of Mexico, instead. But it was Powers who gave the more surprising comment, noting that, while she doesn’t “think it’s anybody’s business whether they spend his birthday together or not,” the Spain trip was just all-around bad optics:

“Most Americans are just not going to relate to going to Spain with however many friends she has with her… staying at this exclusive hotel, spending all this money, and it is extremely tone-deaf. Politically, it is absolutely tone-deaf. I can’t even believe that she has done it, frankly. It is not what people do in their first term.”

No political pundit is more objective on the issues than Kristen Powers. None. Screw ideology, she plays down the line and that's all we can ask for.

Surprises come unexpectedly sometimes.

On Fox News Channel's July 11 broadcast of "Geraldo at Large," an aggressive host Geraldo Rivera took on chairman of the New Black Panthers, Malik Zulu Shabazz over his political gestures.

"It is absolutely pathetic, it is so old-fashioned," Rivera said. "What are you trying to do? Are you trying to be the big, bad nightmare?"

Shabazz, leader of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) rattled off one of his causes, Oscar Grant, but he leveraged him to make a case for reparations.

"I'm trying to help Oscar Grant, who was shot down in cold blood by a white cop and I am trying to redeem, I am trying to redeem - put that camera back right over here, I am trying to redeem -- and black people who have been lynched, raped or mobbed and have not been given reparations."

Rivera responded to his call.

"You insult [his] memory when you engage in your hateful rhetoric," Rivera said. "I think that reparations is just like these welfare programs that have turned a generation into nothing but unproductive people."
