MSNBC Host Andrea Mitchell Cuts Away from Some Silly NSA Thing to Breaking Justin Bieber News

For those of you who don’t like how the media prioritizes the superficial over the substantive, here is your new go-to video for everything you hate about cable news. On MSNBC Thursday, Andrea Mitchell was speaking with former Congresswoman Jane Harman about reviews and proposed restrictions on the NSA debate, but before they could really get down to the meat of the subject, Mitchell had to cut away for some breaking news.

Specifically, news having to do with America’s favorite… whatever he is… Justin Bieber. Yes, just as Harman was about to get into the details of what she believes proper NSA reform should be, Mitchell cut away because heaven forbid policy should get in the way of a good celebrity scandal.

Ever since Bieber got arrested early yesterday, the media has been itching to cover every last detail, though there have been some networks proudly boasting to be above the pettiness.

The Supreme Court of Canada unanimously struck down three laws against prostitution in a landmark ruling Friday, deeming the bans on visiting brothels, living off a prostitute's proceeds and public solicitation "overly broad" and potentially dangerous for sex workers.

While prostitution is legal in Canada, the laws aimed at preventing its practice went far beyond protecting communities from public nuisances associated with the sex trade, the nine justices decided.

"Parliament has the power to regulate against nuisances, but not at the cost of the health, safety and lives of prostitutes," wrote Chief Justice Beverley McLaughlin.

Laws that made it a crime to be found in a brothel, to live off of a prostitute's income and to solicit sex for pay in public were all deemed "grossly disproportionate" to the social ills they were meant to address, McLaughlin's opinion said.

While the measure against profiting from a prostitute's income was aimed at criminalizing pimping, it also made it illegal for prostitutes to hire those who can increase the safety of their trade, such as drivers, managers and bodyguards, the decision noted.

The court gave the Canadian federal government a year to amend the laws so that they conform with the protections of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms or let them expire in December 2014.

Three sex workers who brought the lawsuit alleging discrimination that exposes them to danger were jubilant over the court's ruling.

"Great day for Canada, Canadian women from coast to coast," said Terri Jean Bedford, the lead plaintiff who challenged the prostitution laws in Ontario Superior Court in 2009, according to the Calgary Herald. Bedford appeared on the snowy steps of the high court in Ottawa bedecked in dominatrix black leather and carrying a whip.

Since Monday, when he first posted a link to the eBay page where bidding on his first painting has reached more than $100,000, Zimmerman has amassed a whopping 758 followers and counting. 

The account, which was confirmed to be authentic by the former defendant’s brother, Robert Zimmerman, Jr., has mostly focused on Zimmerman’s burgeoning art career, along with retweets of supporters and Fox News’ Sean Hannity. 

But over the last few days, Zimmerman has started sharing more of his opinions about the paparazzi-style news operations that have been following him around Florida. One the one hand, he’s grateful for his unlikely fame:

To the families of the victims, Ethan Couch was a killer on the road, a drunken teenage driver who caused a crash that left four people dead.

To the defense, the youth is himself a victim -- of "affluenza," according to one psychologist -- the product of wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits for the boy.

To a judge, who sentenced Couch to 10 years' probation but no jail time, he's a defendant in need of treatment.

The decision disappointed prosecutors and stunned victims' family members, who say they feel that Couch got off too easy. Prosecutors had asked for the maximum of 20 years behind bars.

"Let's face it. ... There needs to be some justice here," Eric Boyles, who lost his wife and daughter, told CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" on Wednesday night.

"For 25 weeks, I've been going through a healing process. And so when the verdict came out, I mean, my immediate reaction is -- I'm back to week 1. We have accomplished nothing here. My healing process is out the window," he said.

Lawyers for Couch, 16, had argued that the teen's parents should share part of the blame for the crash because they never set limits for the boy and gave him everything he wanted.

According to CNN affiliate WFAA, a psychologist called by the defense described Couch as a product of "affluenza."

He reportedly testified that the teen's family felt wealth bought privilege, and that Couch's life could be turned around with one to two years of treatment and no contact with his parents.

Couch was sentenced by a juvenile court judge Tuesday. If he violates the terms of his probation, he could face up to 10 years of incarceration, according to a statement from the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office.

Of course, conservatives know that Barack Obama got re-elected mostly because he's half-black, but are his stans still this stupid? Apparently the sad reality is yes they are.

Judge Orders Woman to Hold 'Idiot' Sign For Driving Car on Sidewalk

One of the issues many people have with voters is their sheer stupidity. Too often (esp. in the case of liberals) elections are won and lost on the basis of idiot voters who know little to nothing about issues and vote according to skin color or what they hear out of the mouths of white, liberal hosts on MSNBC or because their favorite liberal celebrity endorsed said politician (as in the case of former drug dealer Jay-Z and his wife/lounge singer Beyonce who've long declared their undying love for the Obama's which certainly caught on with their fans).

Who knows if Shena Hardin is a black liberal or much less even votes. But considering the sheer stupidity of repeatedly driving on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus, the phenomenal choice of a judge ordering her to hold an ‘idiot’ sign on the streets of Cleveland and the fact that Ms. Hardin seems to have learned nothing from her actions, all point to Ms. Hardin not only being a black liberal, but another poster child for the reason black people in America are in the dire state they're in:

The Cleveland Municipal Court judge who ordered a driver to hold an ‘idiot’ sign on the streets of Cleveland said the way the first part of the sentence was carried out was “unacceptable.”

Shena Hardin, 32, of Cleveland, stood at the corner of East 38th Street and Superior Avenue in Cleveland for an hour on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

The sign read, “Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid the school bus.”

But on Tuesday, instead of holding the sign as Judge Pinkey Carr ordered, Hardin left it propped against her as she smoked cigarettes and used her cell phone.

“For me it was just kind of a smack in the face,” said Judge Carr said of Hardin’s defiance.

Hardin was caught on video driving on the sidewalk to pass a bus carrying special needs children. 
The portion of sidewalk she used to avoid the bus was the entrance to a day care.

When the bus driver noticed Hardin’s pattern along East 38th Street, he notified Cleveland Schools and had his cell phone camera rolling during one of her episodes.

Police set up a sting and cited her on Sept. 11.

Hardin originally pleaded not guilty to charges of not stopping for a school bus and reckless operation.

She later changed that to a no contest plea.

“I felt like she was making a mockery of it,” Judge Carr continued, saying she spoke with Hardin’s lawyer to emphasize that Hardin must hold the sign and refrain from smoking and texting on Wednesday. 

Judge Carr said she chose the unusual sentence based on several things, including Hardin’s lack of remorse.

“I think this would be very fitting for her.  And plus it was my first thought when I saw the story.  I said, ‘only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk,’” Judge Carr explained.

“I never imagined that it would turn into this,” said Judge Carr, commenting on the national attention the case has fetched.  “Because at the end of the day as far as punishment, yeah, I want to punish the offender, but yet, you know, it’s about the community, too.  I mean, she owes it to this community, she owes it to the children that were on that school bus, the parents, I mean it’s just a total disrespect, and I want to send a clear message that that’s not behavior that one should engage in.”

At least one person showed public support for Hardin.  Archie Berwick from 87.7 FM showed up to stand beside Hardin on Wednesday with a sign of his own.

Taped to his chest, Berwick’s sign said, “If she’s an idiot, then so am I.”

His message was that everyone makes mistakes.

Hardin’s license was suspended for six months and she must also pay a $250 fine.

Stupid Obama Voters On Benghazi

 Revealing Politics went to the Ohio University campus to an Obama event on October 17th to find out what the President's supporters thought about the September 11 Benghazi attacks. Turns out they didn't think much, as most of the event attendees we interviewed had never even heard of it.

The way Kelly Maher tells it, this endeavor started innocently as a project to determine whether rank-and-file Obama supporters had bought the line about Benghazi being caused by a YouTube video. As you’ll see, none of them is even capable of buying a line. They don’t even know where their wallets are.

Amazing and dismaying, this inadvertent Jaywalking. As Kelly points out, this is a self-selected group of politically involved college students you’d assume would know more than the average college student. Yikes. What it looks like is a group of college students not even willing to watch The Daily Show to get their news. And, this is what makes me uncertain that a foreign-policy debate can change the dynamic of the race at this point, although more experienced pundits than I disagree.

Casey Anthony Juror Willing To Tell His Story...For A Price

Another sad reminder of what the world is coming to:

One of the jurors in the Casey Anthony trial has decided to go public with his side of the story -- but TMZ has learned, he's not talkin' ... unless the price is right ... and 5-figure offers are already pouring in.


A publicist for the unidentified juror is sending a letter to media outlets, claiming, "Our client -- a married, college-educated, 33-year-old white male with two young children -- is willing to consider granting one or more media interviews so long as the opportunities are paid."


We're told the juror has already received multiple offers from big news operations, including at least one major network. Sources tell us ... the high offers are in the "mid 5-figures."


Paid interviews are a hazy moral territory for obvious reasons -- and the publicist, Rick French, admits, paying for sit-downs is "always a sticky subject and believe me, I understand the delicacy of this type of negotiation."


But French insists ... sticky or not, his client ain't budging -- "He will not entertain any offers that don't include compensation for a myriad of reasons."

Big hair scores big bucks in speaking fees at New Jersey's state university. A Nobel prize? Not so much.


Rutgers University on Friday defended spending about $32,000 to bring reality television star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi to campus this week, despite several students questioning if it was a wise use of money.


That's $2,000 more than the school is paying Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winning author Toni Morrison to speak at graduation on May 15.


"We have more than 200 events on our campus during the course of the year, everything from scholarly presentations to entertainment," Rutgers spokesman Steve Manas said.


"The students canvassed for who they wanted here and had the funds available," he said.


More than 1,000 people came to the New Brunswick, New Jersey, campus to hear Snooki of MTV's "The Jersey Shore" speak Thursday.


Student Hina Rehman, 20, said she found it "disappointing" her tuition money was going to fund the event.


"The fact that our school spent $32,000 to bring her is ridiculous," she said. "It's fine the money used here is meant for entertainment purposes, but I think we can get better entertainment than that."

Clarence Thomas' Idiot Wife Asks Anita Hill For Apology

Here's the deal: like Robert Bork before him, the Left did everything they could to smear and create an atmosphere of hate around Clarence Thomas, a lame attempt to prevent him from joining the Supreme Court. But thank goodness they failed . . . barely and now Justice Thomas has been on SCOTUS for almost 20 years, while the tool that is Anita Hill remains...well, a tool or better yet, a bitter footnote in the halls of liberal shame. In other words, Clarence Thomas won and remains a hero to many conservatives around the country. So why on earth would his wife be dumb enough to call Anita Hill 20 years later expecting an apology?!? Really now, just because one's a tool doesn't mean they're stupid:

Anita Hill, whose accusations of sexual harassment almost derailed Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' high court nomination, has no plans to apologize for the charges she made nearly two decades ago.


The response from Hill, now a law professor at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, comes after a message left for her over the weekend by Thomas' wife, Virginia, who requested an apology.

Charles Radin, the Brandeis director of news and communications, said Hill received the voicemail message and turned it over to the campus Department of Public Safety, which then turned it over to the FBI.
Special Agent Jason Pack, an FBI spokesman in Washington, declined to comment late Tuesday.

"I certainly thought the call was inappropriate," Hill said in a statement to CNN issued by Brandeis. "I have no intention of apologizing because I testified truthfully about my experience and I stand by that testimony."

In a statement to CNN, Virginia "Ginni" Thomas said: "I did place a call to Ms. Hill at her office extending an olive branch to her after all these years, in hopes that we could ultimately get passed what happened so long ago. That offer still stands, I would be very happy to meet and talk with her if she would be willing to do the same. Certainly no offense was ever intended."

According to a source at Brandeis who spoke on condition of not being identified, the message left over the weekend said:

"Good morning, Anita Hill, it's Ginni Thomas. I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology some time and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. OK, have a good day."

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: NJ Woman, Donna Simpson, Wants To Weigh 1,000 Pounds

Meet Donna Simpson. She's going to cost you. A lot.

Simpson, of Old Bridge, N.J., is 42 years old, has two kids and a boyfriend, and she weighs 602 pounds. That's right ... 602 pounds.

She's on a diet, of course, because she has a goal in mind:

She wants to weigh 1,000 pounds.

That's right ... 1,000 pounds. It's a nice, extra-round figure — almost as big as what her unhealthy choices will ultimately cost taxpayers.

Simpson claims she is normal and healthy, and she has a right to eat what she wants and weigh what she wants.

“I love eating and people love watching me eat,” she says. “It makes people happy, and I’m not harming anyone.”

But she needs to use a motor scooter when she goes grocery shopping, because she can't walk more than 20 feet. The human body, after all, is not designed to scarf down 12,000 calories a day in the quest to weigh half a ton.

Simpson is definitely harming someone — herself, says Dr. Carla Wolper, a registered dietitian and research faculty member at the New York Obesity Research Center at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

And you, the taxpayer, could wind up paying for it.

“We don’t know her medical history, but one of the most dangerous health issues she faces is an increased risk of sudden death from having a heart attack due to electrical problems in the heart,” Wolper said.

Other possible causes of death for Simpson include stroke, immobility, breathing problems, congestive heart failure, diabetes, and inflammation of heart tissue. Each year, nearly 300,000 Americans die from heart failure.

Not only is this woman incredibly insane, but anyone who enables her "goal" of reaching a 1,000 pounds should be locked up.

Jenny Sanford: Gov. Mark Sanford Refused To Be Faithful In Wedding Vows

South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford recalls how she made the "leap of faith" to marry husband Gov. Mark Sanford even though the groom refused to promise to be faithful, insisting that the clause be removed from their wedding vows.

"It bothered me to some extent, but ... we were very young, we were in love," she said in an exclusive interview with Barbara Walters to air on "20/20" Friday. "I questioned it, but I got past it ... along with other doubts that I had."

Sanford and her marriage were thrust into the national spotlight in June 2009 when her husband admitted that he had been secretly visiting his longtime lover in Argentina instead of hiking the Appalachian Trail, as he had told his staff.

I don't care how young you are. Any woman who marries a guy who outright warns you that he's probably gonna cheat on you in his marriage vows deserves to slapped silly.

Obama Bows To Tampa Mayor

President Obama may be in for another bowing brouhaha.

Obama appears to greet the mayor of Tampa, Pam Iorio, with a bow in a picture taken last week by an Associated Press photographer.

The meeting between Obama and Mayor Iorio took place at MacDill Air Force Base, in Tampa.

Right-leaning media outlets quickly pounced on Bam's bend.

"The mayor of Tampa isn’t a Third World potentate, totalitarian dictator, or terrorist leader so I can’t understand why Obama would be in full-bow mode," a post on the conservative blog Red State read. "Is bowing now the standard way the President greets people these days?"

On cable, this morning's episode of Fox and Friends aired the photo and revisited past Obama-bowing controversies with a montage of shots in which the President is supposedly bowing.

"Originally people said, you know, the Pesident of the United States bows to no one," said host Steve Doocy. "But, as it turns out, he bows to everybody."

Seriously, is Barry still on the pipe? At least when he was going around bowing to foreign leaders, his minions could struggle to come up with an excuse for him, but he gets no pass for this s***. None. I mean, on what planet does anyone bow to a mayor? Ridiculous. A full year under Barry's belt and it's still amateur hour with this guy. Unbelievable.
