Full Metal Jacket Actor R. Lee Ermey Claims Geico Canned Him For Anti-Obama Views

Mediaite.com:
R. Lee Ermey, the actor perhaps best known for his iconic role in Stanely Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, recently told celebrity gossip site TMZ that he was fired by Geico after doing a commercial (Remember? He played a tough-as-nails therapist who chided a guy for being “namby-pamby.”) for the insurance company because he’d been openly critical of Barack Obama.

Appearing at a Toys 4 Tots fundraiser in 2010, Ermey made his thoughts on the President known, urging others to “rise up” against Obama in a rant for which he would later offer a public apology:
The economy really sucks. Now I hate to point fingers at anybody, but the present administration probably had a lot to do with that. And the way I see it, they’re not going to quit doing it until they bring this country to its knees.
We should rise up and stop this administration from what they are doing, because what they are doing is destroying this county. They’re driving us into bankruptcy so that they can impose socialism on us, and that’s exactly what they are doing and I am sick and damn tired of it.
The actor told TMZ that, “Yeah, I got fired,” adding that “Geico fired me because I wasn’t too kind about speaking about the present administration. If you’re a conservative in this town, you better watch out.”

CNN’s Howard Kurtz On Trayvon Martin: How Can MSNBC Allow Al Sharpton To Cover This?

Mediaite.com:
On CNN’s Reliable Sources today, Howard Kurtz called out MSNBC Anchor Al Sharpton for having it both ways on the Trayvon Martin story: covering it on his program, PoliticsNation, and then being a part of a rally for it in Florida, publicly calling for George Zimmerman to be arrested.

Kurtz first brought up the discrepancy in coverage between Fox News and MSNBC. Derek McGinty, anchor at WUSA9 TV, said he had to argue with people in his newsroom that it was a worthwhile story to cover because “people just want accountability.” The cops not arresting Zimmerman was their obligation under the law, but people still want someone to be held accountable for the actions that took place.

Then Kurtz turned specifically to how Sharpton has been covering the case, describing him as a “major African-American activist in this country.” Kurtz played a series of clips showing Sharpton speaking at the Trayvon Martin rally in Florida, then filming his show near the site of the rally, then speaking again at the rally, effortlessly switching between activist and TV host. Kurtz said that Sharpton was asking people to donate money to the cause, and even went down to the Justice Department with the Martins.

Lauren Ashburn struggled to figure out why Sharpton was allowed to, essentially, cover himself on his own show. She did add that Sharpton has never pretended to be a journalist, and MSNBC knew what they were getting when they hired him as a personality, but Kurtz still thought something smelled rotten at MSNBC.

“It seems to me MSNBC can say, ‘Okay, this is such an important case you can go and be an activist and you won’t do your show on the subject. Or you can do your show on the subject but don’t be standing with the parents at the rally and accompanying them to the Justice Department.’”

Eric Deggans, a media critic for the Tampa Bay Times, said he’s always been concerned with Sharpton’s role at the network, and this particular situation makes things difficult because MSNBC has an obligation to cover the story because it’s news. So having one of their hosts injecting themselves into the story is a problem. Deggans also brought up Zimmerman, and whether he could feel like he could get a fair shake from NBC News or MSNBC if he went on for interviews.

Howard Kurtz Grills Politico‘s Jonathan Martin On Herman Cain Alleged Sexual Harassment Reporting

Mediaite.com:
On CNN’s Reliable Sources Sunday morning, host Howard Kurtz gave Politico reporter Jonathan Martin a grilling worthy of Bobby Flay over whether the online paper had enough to publish its story on sexual harassment allegations against GOP frontrunner Herman Cain. The answer to that question was obvious, and gave short shrift to several more interesting questions that Kurtz touched on, but that didn’t quite connect.

Kurtz began by asking Jonathan Martin to discuss Politico’s story, and “what it didn’t contain in details.”

He ticked off some of the language from Politico‘s story, which contained somewhat general (but not vague) descriptions of the allegations, then asked, “Why publish the story then when you couldn’t answer the central question, what precisely is herman cain alleged to have done with these women?”

Martin’s response was to point out that their story was well-sourced (“half a dozen sources”), and has been corroborated by other news organizations, as well as the Cain campaign. As to the story’s newsworthiness, Martin didn’t get a single taker when he asked what journalist would not have printed such a story.

Kurtz pressed the issue of whether the report should have been published at all, questioning the “go or no-go decision,” and suggesting that “in a lot of news organizations, an editor would have said, ‘you have done some terrific reporting, you have great leads here, but you don’t have it.’”

Martin countered by pointing out that there was a level of specificity to the allegations they printed (“an explicit sexual overture”) that, while falling short of chapter and verse, certainly met the bar for newsworthiness.

There’s nothing wrong with Kurtz questioning Politico’s reporting, of course (that’s his job), but this appears to be a missed opportunity for him to bring his own expertise as a journalist to bear. Kurtz also questioned Politico’s decision not to print the names of the accusers, when he well knows that such a move would have been inherently unfair, given the legal gag that bound them, and the fact that the women (who are, presumably, not public figures) were not sources in the story. It’s also customary for journalists to exercise additional restraint regarding the identities of victims in sexual offenses.

'Raymond' Star Patricia Heaton Says She's Been Denied Roles Due to Conservative Views, Then Slams Conservatives

Popeater.com:
Known around left-leaning Hollywood for her conservative stances on weighty issues like abortion and stem cells, 'Everybody Loves Raymond' star Patricia Heaton is happy to explain how important her Christian faith is to her and how it shapes her views and career choices.

"My feeling is all these things come from God and as long as I know I'm staying in line with Him, I don't have to worry if there is backlash," she told me during a visit to AOL's New York offices. "God will open any doors he wants to open and if he closes doors that's fine to."

Telling me that she has many gay friends and doesn't oppose gay marriage, Patricia gets frustrated being automatically lumped together with other conservatives, a characterization she says has cost her possible work.

"We know for a fact there are some people who have said they wouldn't want to work with us because of our politics," she said, with her husband David Hunt adding, "We get lumped in with lunatics."
Is she really calling people who oppose gay marriage "lunatics"? Then too her now open support for gay marriage loses my respect--to think I held her up on a pedestal because I always thought she was a true conservative, but come to find out she's not. I can't stand conservative actors who shy away from the label (ala Elizabeth Hasselback) like it's something to be ashamed of.

Nearly 20 Percent Of New ObamaCare Waivers To Go Nancy Pelosi District for Restaurants, Nightclubs and Fancy Hotels

Well, good to know that the resident libs aren't still playing favorites:
Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama’s administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district.

That’s in addition to the 27 new waivers for health care or drug companies and the 31 new union waivers Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved.

Pelosi’s district secured almost 20 percent of the latest issuance of waivers nationwide, and the companies that won them didn’t have much in common with companies throughout the rest of the country that have received Obamacare waivers.

Other common waiver recipients were labor union chapters, large corporations, financial firms and local governments. But Pelosi’s district’s waivers are the first major examples of luxurious, gourmet restaurants and hotels getting a year-long pass from Obamacare.

For instance, Boboquivari’s restaurant in Pelosi’s district in San Francisco got a waiver from Obamacare. Boboquivari’s advertises $59 porterhouse steaks, $39 filet mignons and $35 crab dinners.

Then, there’s CafĂ© des Amis, which describes its eating experience as “a timeless Parisian style brasserie” which is “located on one of San

Obama Continues To Ignore Texas Wildfires

HotAir.com:
Over two million acres have been burned in Texas in wildfires that stretch from “border to border.” Two firefighters have already died. The effort to get the fires under control threatens to overwhelm the state, but the Obama administration has thus far refused to declare Texas a federal disaster, a declaration that would allow more resources to flow into the state to fight the fires. How urgent is this for Texans? Rep. Francisco Canseco (R-TX) put together a video demanding action, and Governor Rick Perry tweeted it out last night with this message to his followers : “Welcome Obama to Texas. Up the pressure on denied disaster relief.”

Critics might be tempted to point out that Texans like their 10th-Amendment independence, but Texans also fork over a lot of tax revenue that funds federal disaster relief, too. With over 2.2 million acres destroyed already — which equates to over 3400 square miles, or roughly seven times the size of Los Angeles, 50 times the size of DC, and three times the land area of Rhode Island — a federal declaration of disaster seems warranted, and the real question is why Barack Obama hasn’t acted.
The Blue-state President refuses to answer the call, but then his base has always had no problem reminding us that anyone living in a southern red state aren't real Americans.

New Valerie Plame Biopic Fails To Mention Name Leaker Richard Armitage

More revised history by the Hollywood-Left:
The only way we even know the name of Valerie Plame (and fame seeking hubby Joe Wilson) is that that former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage leaked her name as a CIA officer to columnist Robert Novak. That is what set in motion the long drawn out Plamegate affair in which only Scooter Libby was convicted of something other than leaking her name. So you would figure that the supposedly biographical movie scheduled for a November USA release about Plame, Fair Game, would feature Armitage front and center as the principal villain. Right? Wrong. The fact is that "Fair Game" has tossed Richard Armitage down the memory hole. The man who is responsible for the reason that any of us even know who Valerie Plame is appears nowhere in the extensive IMDB cast credits for this movie.

Of course, the aforementioned Scooter Libby (David Andrews) who did not leak her name is listed. Also listed in the cast is the Armitage-leaked name of Valerie Plame (Naomi Watts), fame seeking hubby Joe Wilson (Sean Penn), Nervous Analyst #1 (Louis Ozawa Changchien), Chauvinist Analyst (Sean Mahon),  Head Paparazzo (Harry L. Seddon), Four Seasons Waitress (Satu Rautaharju), Starbucks Employee (Angela Lewis), and Turkish Embassy Guest (Marsall Factora). However, as for the person who made the "Fair Game" movie possible by leaking Valerie Plame's name, he appears nowhere in the cast credits.

Amy Bishop Now Charged With Brother's 1996 Shooting Death After Liberal Politician Bill Delahunt Let Her Go

A biology professor charged with killing three of her colleagues at an Alabama university has been indicted in the 1986 shooting death of her brother in Massachusetts, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Amy Bishop, 45, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 18-year-old brother, Seth, Norfolk District Attorney William Keating said.

Authorities had originally ruled her brother's shooting an accident, but they reopened the case after Bishop was charged in February with gunning down six of her colleagues at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, killing three.

Keating said he did not understand why charges were never brought against Amy Bishop.

"I can't give you any explanations, I can't give you excuses, because there are none," he said.

Bishop had told police who investigated her brother's death that she accidentally shot him while trying to unload her father's 12-gauge shotgun in the family's Braintree home. Her mother, Judith, the only witness to the shooting, confirmed her daughter's account to police.

But after Bishop was charged in the Alabama shootings, authorities began reinvestigating Seth Bishop's death.

U.S. Rep. William Delahunt, who was then the Norfolk County district attorney, said that Braintree police never told anyone in his office that after Bishop shot her brother, she tried to commandeer a getaway car at gunpoint at a local car dealership, then refused to drop her gun until officers ordered her to do so repeatedly. Those events were described in Braintree police reports but not in a report written by a state police detective assigned to the district attorney's office.
Thanks to shoddy police work and a liberal politician Amy Bishop got away with murder, lived a normal life for 20-plus years and killed again. Starting with Bill Delahunt, everyone involved with letting Amy Bishop in '86 go needs to be jailed.

In Lieu Of ClimateGate Shadow, Al Gore Cancels

FOXNews.com:
Climate campaigner Al Gore has canceled a lecture he was supposed to deliver in Copenhagen. The former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner had been scheduled to speak to more than 3,000 people at a Dec. 16 event hosted by the Berlingske Tidende newspaper group.

The group says Gore canceled the lecture Thursday, citing unforeseen changes in his schedule.
Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider says the decision was made because of "all the events going on with the summit."

Dec. 16 is a key date for the meeting because that's when the ministerial segment starts.
Chief editor Lisbeth Knudsen says it's a "great disappointment" that Gore canceled and that all tickets will be refunded.
Just a coincidence? Highly doubt it. Word has it Gore was supposed to be pocketing some major change for his latest speech on nonexistent global warming. But with ClimateGate picking up steam (despite the liberal media's sorry attempt to stay quiet about it) even ManBearPig is smart enough to stay out of the spotlight for now.

Obama Honors Anti-American, Anti-Semite Mary Robinson With Medal Of Freedom Award

NYPost.com:

THE Medal of Freedom is the nation's highest civilian honor. Past recipients include John Wayne, Norman Rockwell and Vaclav Havel. This year, one of the 16 recipients President Obama selected (along with such worthies as Sen. Edward Kennedy and the late Jack Kemp) is former Irish President and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson.

Bad choice.

Robinson's views are well out of the American foreign-policy mainstream. Rep. Peter King (R-LI) says, "She is definitely from the school of moral equivalency which somehow invariably comes down on the side against vibrant democracies such as Israel and the United States."

Despite her noble commitment to human rights, Robinson has become a symbol of all that's wrong in the human-rights community and the United Nations -- of the tendency to appease dictatorships, rationalize terrorism and bash the West.

She is perhaps best known for presiding over the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa -- which targeted the West, especially Israel, while overlooking racism in Arab countries. The conference was so biased the United States and Israel boycotted it.

In the tense months before convening in Durban, Robinson failed to listen to pleas from Secretary of State Colin Powell and Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.), among others, to stop Arab dictators from hijacking an anti-racism conference to advance their anti-Zionist agenda. Afterward, she declared the disaster a success, even after she herself belatedly condemned the vicious anti-Semitism coursing through the streets of Durban at a parallel forum of nongovernmental agencies.

Robinson has criticized US foreign policy throughout her career. Since 9/11, she has blasted the United States for losing the "moral high ground" -- as if she's more focussed on trying to win the "minds and hearts" of unrepentant terrorists than on the dilemmas that democracies face in fighting terror.

She also blasted the United States for objecting to the new UN Human Rights Council in 2006 -- even though America was rightly protesting the power the forum granted to human-rights-abusing dictatorships such as Libya and Sudan.

The Obama administration had to be aware of all this before the president decided to honor her. The White House has careful procedures for selecting winners of awards like this, and for running these names by key White House offices to avoid trouble.

Sad. Another Bush-hater gets kudos from Barry's administration. At least the Jews aren't taking this diss lying down.

Liberal Media Says Nothing About Sexism Against Sarah Palin By Obama Supporters

As idiotic as it may be, according to the liberal media, John McCain is responsible for any despicable acts against Barack Obama committed by a select few of his supporters on the campaign trail. Yet, this bit of "logic" doesn't seem to apply to Barack in lieu of some BO supporters who continue to display blatant episodes of sexism against Sarah Palin:
Is the sexist, misogynist tone that the Obama campaign established to defeat Hillary Clinton in the Democrat presidential primaries responsible for the disgusting Sarah Palin t-shirts being worn by some Obama supporters?

Feminist radio host Tammy Bruce thinks so, and believes that is what "upset so many Hillary Clinton supporters from the beginning of [Obama's] presidential run" making "this Democratic campaign...the worst we've ever seen."

Bruce also told Fox News's Martha MacCallum on Monday's "America's Election HQ" that these "Sarah Palin is a C***" t-shirts are similar to "the most popular t-shirts when Barack Obama was running in the primary season...that said 'Bros Before Hos'"
And let's not forget the tasteless photo taken by the Reuters (and then used by other rags around the country) news service showing nothing but Palin's legs with a seeming mesmerized young dude staring up at her in the middle. But of course, reporting on the liberal media's double standards and sexism by Obama supporters would make them and their candidate look bad. Can't have that.

Nancy Pelosi's Do-Nothing Congress Fails Once Again

This
record low-rated, Democrat Congress, led by its idiot Speaker Nancy Pelosi, once again puts ego ahead of what's turned into an economic crisis:

The $700 bailout plan is now off the table, the Dow's hitting record lows, more and more financial institutions are near ruin and Pelosi is busy pointing fingers and promoting her stupid book while ignoring her own party's role in creating this mess, nevermind the fact that it in 2003 then-Treasury Secretary John Snow tried to fix government-sponsored mortgage gamblers and was turned away by a mostly Democrat Congress. John McCain and Sarah Palin would do well to show the American people who really should be taking the blame for this financial crisis we're in: Democrats.

Lucille The Waitress Says Sarah Palin Is A Racist

John McCain is running for President against Barack Obama, but from all the fear mongering from the loony wing on her, you'd think it was Sarah Palin. Why, oh why, does the Left fear her so much? i mean take a look at the
latest Palin smear:

A progressive blogger is proclaiming, on the authority of his source, “Lucille the Waitress,” that Sarah Palin must simply be racist, sexist, vindictive and well, downright mean.

Here’s what supposedly happened according to “Lucille”…

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is supposedly how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination. The Governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, allegedly uttered the slur and then laughed loudly with the others at the table joining in, according to Lucille, the intrepit waitress.

Dubious and desperate to destroy.

Not only desperate but also strategic in the hope that a racist smear job against Palin will build up anger in liberal blacks so they can join their white, elitist masters on the Left in destroying Palin's name and reputation. For liberal blacks, who rarely think for themselves, this will be an easy one, regardless of the obvious dubiety of the source.

Again, they'll say or do anything to win, but if Palin's so inept, corrupt and now racist, why don't they just trust the American voter to be smart enough to say so come November?

The Road To Gommorah: "Man" Gives Birth To Baby

From the NYPost.com:

It's no hoax - this guy really is pregnant.

Thomas Beatie, the transgender man with the world's most famous baby bump, appeared with his wife, Nancy, on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" yesterday - explaining the hows and whys of his bizarre journey.

Beatie, 34, is six months' pregnant and on target to deliver a healthy girl - which he is carrying in the womb he kept intact when he became a man 10 years ago.

There was speculation Beatie was pulling a huge hoax when pictures of him appearing to be pregnant turned up on the Internet.

But he and his wife, who live in Bend, Ore., laid those rumors to rest on yesterday's "Oprah," which included a chat with their obstetrician - who declared their baby "totally healthy" - and footage of the baby's ultrasound.

One can only wonder how the child will be affected having been birthed from a "man" (much less the embarrassment due to the popularity of this incident), but for the morally bankrupt, so-called "progressives" it's never about the child's rights, is it?

Newsbusters has more on the one-sided sensationalism the liberal press has given to this story.

Three Dumb Politicians Discriminate Against Restaurants

I swear, the more I see Republicans acting like liberals, the more exasperated I get with both parties.

Mississippi Republicans
W. T. Mayhall, Jr. and John Read joined with Democrat Bobby Shows yesterday to come up with one of the dumbest bills in history. They are proposing a bill that will make it illegal for state-licensed restaurants to serve obese people. That means anybody with a BMI of 30 or above won't be able to eat with everybody else. This is a problem since 30% of the state is considered obese.

The two page document states that any restaurant that breaks the law could get their license pulled.

Click here to read the documents.

So serving fat people could put you in risk of losing your business? So utterly lame and so utterly stupid.
