Lou Dobbs And The Nation Reporter Clash Over Illegal Immigrant Controversy

Lawrence O’Donnell continued his booking hot streak tonight when he had both Lou Dobbs – at the center of this controversy about employing illegal immigrants on his property – and Isabel MacDonald (whose report in The Nation sparked the controversy) onto MSNBC to debate the issue of whether Dobbs once employed illegal immigrants, despite his long-standing hard-line stance against illegal immigration.


O’Donnell strictly mediated – this was Dobbs vs. McDonald. And the first thing to jump out about this segment: it was long, taking up half the program. McDonald thought Dobbs was “holding [him]self to a completely different standard than the standards that [he's] held all other American employers to,” while Dobbs thought her piece was “a hit job.” At the center of the debate was, seemingly, semantics: Dobbs seemed to be out to prove that he never “directly, knowingly employed any undocumented worker” (and MacDonald admitted she didn’t have evidence as such), while The Nation’s point wasn’t so much that Dobbs even indirectly employing undocumented workers would make him a hypocrite. (It’s even right in the title.)


In fact, as O’Donnell himself said to Dobbs at one point:


“Well, what they’re calling you on this case is a hypocrite if you did that. You do, what I’m agreeing to is you absolutely didn’t commit a crime if you did that. I’m agreeing to that. But when you take to the pulpit and preach what you preached you got to be, you got to understand why people think this is a hypocritical outcome.”


This gets at the heart of it: Dobbs at one point said, “If you want to hold me to…a different and higher standard, you go right ahead.” And that “different and higher standard” is the price of making illegal immigration a pet cause for so long. Dobbs also mentioned during the interview his ultimate goal is a “rational, effective, humane immigration policy.” That’s a tall order, and after The Nation’s piece – “hit job” or not – the pressure is on for him to contribute significant ideas toward just that.

And to continue to do so in the most honest and direct way possible."

Not that this is a reach, but I predict that you'll next be seeing Lou Dobbs on the No. 1 cable news network....FOX. And if so, good for him.

Bullet Hits Lou Dobbs' NJ Home With Wife Nearby

Police in New Jersey are trying to determine who fired a bullet that struck CNN commentator Lou Dobbs' home as his wife stood nearby. State police Sgt. Stephen Jones says Dobbs' wife and driver were outside the home Oct. 5 when they heard the gunshot. Jones says the bullet didn't penetrate the siding and fell to the ground outside.

Dobbs mentioned the bullet earlier this week on CNN and his radio show.

Dobbs says he had been receiving threatening phone calls for weeks. On his radio show, he connected the gunshot to his advocacy for a crackdown on illegal immigration and to his opponents' rhetoric.

Since Barry became president many on the Left have spoken out on the possibility of conservative rhetoric endangering people's lives. Yet so far this year alone we've seen an abortion protester slain, liberal bloggers advocating violence against Tea Party protesters, a black conservative beaten up by leftwing loons and now shots fired at Lou Dobbs family. Funny that.

Public safety should always be the no. 1 priority in my opinion. And Dobbs alluded to an interesting question--wonder if someone could sue the courts if one of the released prisoners say raped or killed someone?

Long accused of being a xenophobe, CNN anchor Lou Dobbs does himself no favors criticizing Secretary Condoleezza Rice's issues with America's "birth defect" the other night. I tell ya some of these fools make it way too easy to pull them on the carpet for their ignorance:



Listen, I'm no huge fan of Condoleezza Rice myself, but I'll defend her anytime when it comes to the loons on the Left who continuously intermingle personal attacks towards her amongst their criticisms of her political dealings. Of course, these are the same fools who also have no problem disrespecting the fact that Secretary Rice grew up in the racial segregation of the 50s to 60s South and was a personal friend of the 4 little Black girls who were killed in the Birmingham, Alabama church bombing in 1963. That said, Condoleezza Rice can speak on race anytime she wants to, even if you don't like what she has to say about it.
