CNBC Host Joe Kernen Trashes Al Gore as ‘Charlatan and Villain’

Mediaite.com:
Who had the most impact on the world in the past 25 years? It’s not an easy question to answer, but it’s one that CNBC is asking people to vote on, but on CNBC today, Andrew Ross Sorkin suggested another name on the list: Al Gore. This choice did not sit well with co-host Joe Kernen.

Sorkin argued that even if you don’t accept the premise of Gore’s global warming arguments, it’s difficult to argue that his global warming push hasn’t had a profound effect on the business world and how companies are looking to be greener.

Kernen shot back, “Yeah, if we put charlatans and villains on there.” He said if Gore’s going to be on the list, they might as well add Ken Lay or Bernie Madoff too.

Kernen has previously gone off about the “bonafide cult” of “enviro-socialists” speaking out on climate change.

Reddit Bans Comments From Global Warming Skeptics

No surprise here. Nothing scares liberals more than facts:
A content editor on Reddit’s science forum wrote Monday that the site has banned climate-change skeptics, and asks why more news outlets haven’t done the same.

“About a year ago, we moderators became increasingly stringent with deniers,” Reddit content editor Nathan Allen wrote in grist. “When a potentially controversial submission was posted, a warning would be issued stating the rules for comments (most importantly that your comment isn’t a conspiracy theory) and advising that further violations of the rules could result in the commenter being banned from the forum.”

Allen explains that climate change became an ironically heated topic among commenters on Reddit’s science forum, /r/science, which he described as “a window into the Ivory Tower” for “non-scientists” to connect with experts like himself.
Climate-change believers accused skeptics of being bought out by “big oil,” while the skeptics accused believers of being on the take from “big green.”

Despite the provocative comments on both sides described by Allen, and Reddit’s reputation as “passionately dedicated to free speech,” the self-described “PhD chemist” decided it was time for the skeptics to go.

“After some time interacting with the regular denier posters, it became clear that they could not or would not improve their demeanor,” Allen said. “As a scientist myself, it became clear to me that the contrarians were not capable of providing the science to support their ‘skepticism’ on climate change.”

As a result, about half a dozen content editors now practice “proactive moderation” on the science forum’s reported 4-million subscribers.

“As moderators responsible for what millions of people see, we felt that to allow a handful of commenters to so purposefully mislead our audience was simply immoral,” Allen said of the audience he previously described as “mainly academic.”

Al Gore Compares Faux Global Warming To Slavery and Liberals Say Nothing, But When Sarah Palin Does It Resident MSNBC Scumbag Martin Bashir Says Someone Should Sh*t in Palin’s Mouth

First of all, I'm not condoning anyone comparing anything to slavery, one of, if not the darkest time in America's history. Yet, the idea that a lying, liberal blowhard like Al Gore can get away comparing faux global warming to slavery, while a scumbag like Martin Bashir goes after Sarah Palin for doing the same damn thing, just reeks of typical liberal hypocrisy:

Mediaite.com:
Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) punched her way back into the news this week by invoking slavery in remarks about American public debt, then doubling down on the remarks in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. On Friday afternoon’s Martin Bashir program on MSNBC, host Martin Bashir delivered a scathing attack on Palin, while attempting to contextualize the horror of slavery for her by detailing some of the cruelty recorded in the diary of Thomas Thistlewood, a British overseer at a Jamaican sugar plantation. Bashir concluded his commentary by suggesting Palin is deserving of the same treatment.

In his “Clear the Air” segment, Bashir lit into Palin straight away, referring to her as America’s “resident dunce” and characterizing her remarks as “scraping the barrel of her long-deceased mind, and using her all-time favorite analogy in an attempt to sound intelligent about the national debt.”

He then played a clip of Palin’s comments from last weekend, in which she told a crowd at Iowa’s Faith and Freedom Coalition event, “Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children, and borrowing from China. When that note comes due — and this isn’t racist, so try it. Try it anyway. This isn’t racist. But it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due.”

“It will be like slavery,” Bashir repeated. “Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it’s hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history.”

“So here’s an example,” Bashir continued. “One of the most comprehensive first-person accounts of slavery comes from the personal diary of a man called Thomas Thistlewood, who kept copious notes for 39 years. Thistlewood was the son of a tenant farmer, who arrived on the island of Jamaica in April 1750, and assumed the position of overseer at a major plantation.”

“What is most shocking about Thistlewood’s diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but is the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime,” Bashir added. “In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby ‘catched eating kanes had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth.’”

“This became known as ‘Darby’s Dose,’ a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of inhumanity. And he mentions a similar incident in 1756, his time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. ‘Flogged punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper, made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth,’” Bashir recited.

“I could go on, but you get the point,” Bashir said, concluding “When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate.”

No, Al Gore Did Not Just Want to "Count All the Votes" in the 2000 Election

The idea that George W. Bush "stole" the 2000 election, while having died down over the years due to the total ineptitude of the Obama administration, is still pushed by some far-Left zealots who will go down to their dying breath hating and blaming Bush for everything wrong with the world. But as the far-Leftist News rag, the NYTimes, even admitted to (albeit reluctantly), Bush did get the most votes in Florida that year. Then too, the idea that somehow the Supreme Court's decision to stop Al Gore from finding enough votes to win in 2000 was biased and filled with errors, is again being debunked:
Last week I wrote that "count all the votes" emerged comparatively late in the game of the Bush v. Gore saga.  A number of people have pushed back, here and elsewhere, have pushed back.  Gore, they say, offered to do a hand recount of all 67 Florida counties on November 15th; if Bush would support it, and withdraw his lawsuits, Gore said he would withdraw his lawsuits too.  Bush turned him down.  This is supposed to prove that Democrats always had a committment to counting all the votes.

Well, not so fast.  For starters, when Bush turned him down, Gore didn't go and start asking for recounts in all 67 Florida counties.  His committment to "counting all the votes" was conditional on Bush withdrawing all of his lawsuits.  It was a second-best alternative to just counting some of the votes, one which he offered when it looked like he might be losing.  When it was turned down, he went on with his partial recount strategy.

And because of this, the voices raised in favor of counting all the votes were somewhat muted.  A Nexis search for the phrase "Count all the votes" in major newspapers turns up just 26 uses in the week after the Florida election--before Gore had made his offer.  In the first 17 days of the recount, it occurs just 57 times.

Then, on November 24th, the Supreme Court accepted cert for the Florida recount, with a hearing to be held on December 1st.

Observers knew that this meant the Florida Supreme Court ruling allowing partial recounts was likely going to be overturned (if they weren't likely to overturn, they would have just dodged the case on a technicality).

Suddenly, folks get very interested in counting all the votes: there are almost 100 mentions between November 24th and November 30th, with most of those seeming to come in the few days before the hearing.  Then things quite down for the three days until the court decides: just 25 mentions.

Then on December 4th, the Supreme Court vacates the Florida Supreme Court's order allowing the partial recounts to be included in the total, and interest in counting all the votes explodes: 121 mentions in the 8 days that follow.  And almost all of that was clustered in the three days immediately surrounding the court's stay of the recounts, and its decision in Bush v. Gore.

Overall, there are 73 mentions of the phrase "count all the votes" in major newspapers between November 7th, 2000 and November 27th, 2000 . . . more than halfway through the recount process.  Over the next 20 days, it occurs more than 250 times.

In other words, people didn't get interested in counting all the votes when Al Gore offered a statewide manual recount as an alternative to lawsuits. They got interested in counting all the votes when the partial recounts suffered legal setbacks.  People are retroactively remembering something that emerged several weeks into the recounts as having been more central to the Democratic case than it actually was.  "Count all the Votes" became the central argument only after the Supreme Court had squelched the preferred "count some of the votes".

People remember having been outraged when the Supreme Court declined to "count all the votes". But partisan fervor was already running very, very high by late November.
Odds are that anyone who is old enough to remember that election was very probably just as angry and passionate before "count all the votes" emerged as the unifying rallying cry for Democrats.  Indeed, most of those very people were probably in favor of counting some of the votes before they were against it.

They remember this particular issue as having been more salient than it was for two reasons: first, because all of us tend to remember the end of an experience better than the middle, and second, because "count all the votes" is a much easier grudge to nurse than "I wanted my guy to win, and he didn't".
I don't mean to suggest that Democrats are somehow specially hypocritical here; I am personally skeptical, for example, that Katherine Harris' maneuvers to cut off vote counts were motivated by her fervent committment to administrative efficiency and strict deadline discipline.  Both sides had reasonable points, and reasonable grievances.   But Al Gore was running for president, not Santa.  The procedure he chose--and stuck with, until a court told him to knock it off--was not fair.  And by the time the case hit the Supreme Court, his supporters (and the Florida Supreme Court) had already invested a huge amount of credibility in coming up with creative reasons that it should happen anyway.

Ironically, I suspect that if Gore had simply unilaterally requested a statewide manual recount, or the Florida Supreme Court had forced one upon him, the United States Supreme Court would have probably stayed out of it.  But they didn't, and as they say, the rest is history.

Joe Scarborough Scolds Paul Krugman For Being a Pompous Jerk and Sighing Like Al Gore

Newsbusters.org:
As NewsBusters reported earlier, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman and MSNBC's Joe Scarborough had quite a heated discussion about the budget, debt, and the economy on PBS's Charlie Rose Monday evening.

Near its conclusion, Scarborough actually scolded Krugman for pompously behaving like a sighing Al Gore (video follows with transcript and commentary)

Jon Stewart Summed Up: Liberal Hypocrite, FOX News Hater and Race Baiter

Mediaite.com:
The true rise of the artist formerly known as Jon Stuart Leibowitz came not during his roommate role in Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy or taking over for Craig Kilborn on The Daily Show in the late 90s. Instead it was a 2004 appearance on the soon-to-be-doomed CNN Crossfire with Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson

Watch the clip (below) to witness one guest (a non-controversial comedian at the time, no less) single-handedly destroy a highly-successful cable program in the span of ten minutes. Stewart’s unfiltered perspective, along his unique ability to capture that palpable feeling everybody is thinking but nobody actually talks about, completely disarmed the hosts (particularly Carlson). The show would be abruptly canceled within a year.

Stewart’s mantra throughout the TKO was pithy and pointed:
“Stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America,” he pleaded repeatedly, later adding: “You have a responsibility to the public discourse, and you fail miserably.”

Stewart would proceed to label the Crossfire hosts as “political hacks,” and equated both to professional wrestlers: “You’re doing theatre when you should be doing debate.”

The hosts never saw it coming.

Carlson: “You need to get a job at a journalism school…”

Stewart: “You need to go to one.”

Game, set, match…

Over 5.3 million YouTube hits later, Stewart was elevated to a broadcast pantheon few in political media have ascended to in terms of respect, admiration and power. As a result, the daily routine for every cable network producer is to assign an associate producer or intern to watch Stewart’s program to find the best clips to insert into a program. If you miss the Daily Show on any given night, no worries…best-of replays are seen all morning on cable news (the target that is Fox News notwithstanding).

Beloved by Democrats and feared by Republicans for his awesome influence on young voters, AskMen even named the 50-year-old the country’s Most Influential Man of 2010.

In the end, when talking about dominance in political programing and the hosts who get it — who truly understand what audiences want and how to do a show right — the roster is made up of two people:

Jon Stewart.

Bill O’Reilly.

And that’s it.

So that’s why it is regrettable to declare that Mr. Stewart has dubiously earned receiving the same lecture given to Carlson and Begala nine years ago:

Stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America, Jon.

This plea comes after Stewart crossed over the line this week during a segment on President Obama and guns. In it, Stewart rightly called out the media for questioning whether the President fabricated a story around his recently revealed affection for skeet shooting.

The silly season continues for conspiracy theorists choosing to attack the president on this, as the White House has since released a photo of Obama as part-Terminator/part-Matrix-Laurence Fishburne (the protective shades are unquestionably badass) while doing the skeet thing out at Camp David.

The exercise once again proves certain media members need to be more selective in terms of where to burn their calories when criticizing this president…because when these kind of small-time charges are disproven, it only continues to diminish their already-struggling credibility.

But regardless of how things turned out here, it was a question Stewart asked on his show that only helps push a toxic racial narrative we’re seeing way too often on cable news.

Stewart on Thursday’s Daily Show: “Why won’t the black man half the country lives in fear of release a picture of himself holding a gun?”

With statements like this, it is Stewart who is now hurting the country.

And before applying the same “I’m-just-a-comedian-don’t-take-anything-I-say-seriously-defense” Stewart invariably resorts to when called out in situations like this, keep in mind that he lost that get-out-of-jail-free card when he decided to become as serious as a heart attack on Crossfire on the importance of responsible public discourse.

Here’s my beef: By automatically believing half the country (OK, 47 percent) only voted against the president because he’s black, because they fear him, it is an affront to the tens of millions who voted for the GOP candidate for reasons other than skin color.

Maybe, just maybe, it was a listless economy, high unemployment, spiraling debt, the creation of unaffordable entitlements, and a different philosophy on taxes that compelled voting for the other guy…at least that’s what the exit polls showed.

And by the way, included in the final tally for the Republican ticket were 2.4 million votes by African Americans. So, are they afraid of one of their own…the black guy with the gun?

Remember when we heard that the only way Obama could lose would be because of closet racism and code words the Romney campaign was subtly imbedding in its talking points like “golf,” “Chicago,” and “lazy”?

Well, it should be noted that the president received more white votes in 2012 than any Democratic candidate since FDR. And it’s not like he had the tailwinds of a great, or good (or even average) economy at his back.
So much for all that rampant racism derailing the president’s path to a second term…

But Stewart continues to push a racial narrative only thought to exist on a cable news network he rarely criticizes.

Of course, this is the same host who once did an awkward Amos ‘n Andy imitation of Herman Cain. In this week’s “could you imagine if?” segment, could you imagine if O’Reilly put on black face and did his best impression of Barack Obama?

Is Jon Stewart a racist?

Of course not…

But does he play the race card when it comes to painting all conservatives with the same brush?

Absolutely.

Apparently over 60 million people in this country fear President Obama as if he was a gun-toting African-American member of a Chicago gang.

At least that’s the implication.

Please Jon…

Stop, stop, stop, stop hurting the country.

Matt Lauer Grills Al Gore Over ‘Hypocrisy’ In Selling Current TV To Oil-Funded Al Jazeera

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Mediaite.com:
This morning on the Today Show, NBC’s Matt Lauer grilled former Vice President Al Gore over the “contradictions” in his sale of Current TV to the largely oil-funded Al Jazeera network.

“Was [buying Current] always just an investment to you?” Lauer asked after reading off the amount of money Gore made from his stake in the network. “Maybe I was naive, I thought it was something you had an ideological interest in, so why did it become just an investment at the end?”

“No, it didn’t,” Gore responded. “As an independent network — the only independent news and information network — we found it difficult to compete in this age of conglomerates and i’m pleased that Al Jazeera has established itself as a respected news-gathering network.”

Lauer then confronted the former VP with his own seemingly contradictory remarks. “Even as you sold to Al Jazeera, you in the book blast other television news programs saying this,” reading Gore’s old comments:
“Virtually every news and political commentary program on television is sponsored in part by oil, coal and gas companies — not just during campaign seasons, but all the time, year in and year out — with messages designed to soothe and reassure the audience that everything is fine, the global environment is not threatened.”
“And the critics jumped. They said, ‘Here’s the guy who just sold Current TV to Al Jazeera, which gets an undetermined amount of funding from the country of Qatar, which gets its money from oil reserves,’” Lauer said.

“Isn’t there a contradiction in that?” he asked.

“I certainly understand that criticism,” replied Gore. “I disagree with it. I think Al Jazeera has, obviously, long since established itself as a really distinguished and effective news gathering organization. And by the way, its climate coverage has been far more extensive and high-quality.”

“But if they get funding from a country that bases its wealth on fossil fuels, and fossil fuels are the enemy you target in climate change, isn’t there a bit of hypocrisy in that?” pressed Lauer.

Gore doubled down, insisting that despite its oil-rich funding, Al Jazeera has maintained a reputation of independence: “This network has established itself. It’s objective. It’s won major awards in countries around the world and its climate coverage, as I said a moment ago, has been outstanding and extensive.

Bill O’Reilly Tears Into ‘Hypocrite’ Al Gore For Trying To Settle Current TV Sale Before Taxes Went Up

 Mediaite.com:
Bill O'Reilly had some harsh words for Al Gore tonight over his sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera. O’Reilly took issue with Gore’s hypocrisy in trying to finalize the sale before the fiscal cliff deadline this past Monday night to avoid paying higher taxes, as well as doing a deal with “anti-Americans” at Al Jazeera. O’Reilly declared that Gore has “shamed himself” with the deal.

O’Reilly highlighted Gore’s hypocrisy on taxes by bringing up video of Gore saying two months ago that he believes rich people such as himself need to “do our fair share.”

O’Reilly then set his sights on Al Jazeera, a network he declared to be run by “anti-Americans” and even sympathetic to Osama bin Laden. By making a deal with Al Jazeera, O’Reilly said, Gore has “shamed himself.” O’Reilly made it clear he would not want Al Jazeera to be censored, but said the whole deal is “sleazy” and “disgraceful.”

O’Reilly did allow for the possibility that the reports of Gore trying to avoid higher taxes were incorrect, inviting Gore onto his show to explain. But O’Reilly doubted Gore would accept the invitation, saying unequivocally that “we have problems with hypocrites in the No Spin Zone.”

Facts Show There's Been No Global Warming In Last 11 Years

At the end of the day it's all a hoax that has made Al Gore a tremendous amount of money:
It was hailed as the scientific study that ended the global warming debate once and for all – the research that, in the words of its director, ‘proved you should not be a sceptic, at least not any longer’.

Professor Richard Muller, of Berkeley University in California, and his colleagues from the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperatures project team (BEST) claimed to have shown that the planet has warmed by almost a degree centigrade since 1950 and is warming continually.

Published last week ahead of a major United Nations climate summit in Durban, South Africa, next month, their work was cited around the world as irrefutable evidence that only the most stringent measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions can save civilisation as we know it.

It was cited uncritically by, among others, reporters and commentators from the BBC, The Independent, The Guardian, The Economist and numerous media outlets in America.

The Washington Post said the BEST study had ‘settled the climate change debate’ and showed that anyone who remained a sceptic was committing a ‘cynical fraud’.

But today The Mail on Sunday can reveal that a leading member of Prof Muller’s team has accused him of trying to mislead the public by hiding the fact that BEST’s research shows global warming has stopped.

Prof Judith Curry, who chairs the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at America’s prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology, said that Prof Muller’s claim that he has proven global warming sceptics wrong was also a ‘huge mistake’, with no scientific basis.

Prof Curry is a distinguished climate researcher with more than 30 years experience and the second named co-author of the BEST project’s four research papers.

Her comments, in an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday, seem certain to ignite a furious academic row. She said this affair had to be compared to the notorious ‘Climategate’ scandal two years ago.

Like the scientists exposed then by leaked emails from East Anglia University’s Climatic Research Unit, her colleagues from the BEST project seem to be trying to ‘hide the decline’ in rates of global warming.

In fact, Prof Curry said, the project’s research data show there has been no increase in world temperatures since the end of the Nineties – a fact confirmed by a new analysis that The Mail on Sunday has obtained.

‘There is no scientific basis for saying that warming hasn’t stopped,’ she said. ‘To say that there is detracts from the credibility of the data, which is very unfortunate.’

However, Prof Muller denied warming was at a standstill.

‘We see no evidence of it [global warming] having slowed down,’ he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. There was, he added, ‘no levelling off’.

A graph issued by the BEST project also suggests a continuing steep increase.

But a report to be published today by the Global Warming Policy Foundation includes a graph of world average temperatures over the past ten years, drawn from the BEST project’s data and revealed on its website.

This graph shows that the trend of the last decade is absolutely flat, with no increase at all – though the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have carried on rising relentlessly.

‘This is nowhere near what the climate models were predicting,’ Prof Curry said. ‘Whatever it is that’s going on here, it doesn’t look like it’s being dominated by CO2.’

Prof Muller also wrote an article for the Wall Street Journal. It was here, under the headline ‘The case against global warming scepticism’, that he proclaimed ‘there were good reasons for doubt until now’.

This, too, went around the world, with The Economist, among many others, stating there was now ‘little room for doubt’.

Such claims left Prof Curry horrified.

‘Of course this isn’t the end of scepticism,’ she said. ‘To say that is the biggest mistake he [Prof Muller] has made. When I saw he was saying that I just thought, “Oh my God”.’

In fact, she added, in the wake of the unexpected global warming standstill, many climate scientists who had previously rejected sceptics’ arguments were now taking them much more seriously.

They were finally addressing questions such as the influence of clouds, natural temperature cycles and solar radiation – as they should have done, she said, a long time ago.

Yesterday Prof Muller insisted that neither his claims that there has not been a standstill, nor the graph, were misleading because the project had made its raw data available on its website, enabling others to draw their own graphs.

However, he admitted it was true that the BEST data suggested that world temperatures have not risen for about 13 years. But in his view, this might not be ‘statistically significant’, although, he added, it was equally possible that it was – a statement which left other scientists mystified.

‘I am baffled as to what he’s trying to do,’ Prof Curry said.

Mitt Romney: ‘We Don’t Know What’s Causing Climate Change On This Planet’

If he actually sticks to this position if and when he becomes President, then good for Mitt:
While speaking at an event in Pittsburgh, Mitt Romney said he questioned the science behind global warming and opposed climate legislation. “‘My view is that we don’t know what’s causing climate change on this planet,” Romney said. “And the idea of spending trillions and trillions of dollars to try to reduce CO2 emissions is not the right course for us.”

“I do not believe in a cap and trade program,” Romney added. “By the way, they do not call it America warming, they call it global warming. So the idea of America spending massive amounts, trillions of dollars to somehow stop global warming is not a great idea. It loses jobs for Americans and ultimately it won’t be successful, because industries that are energy intensive will just get up and go somewhere else. So it doesn’t make any sense at all.”

The green blogosphere assailed the former Massachusetts governor for flip-flopping positions on the issue, calling out Romney for changing positons yet again on climate change. ThinkProgress’s Brad Johnson noted that Romney made a completely opposite statement in June: “I believe that humans contribute to that,” Romney said. “I don’t know how much our contribution is to that, because I know that there have been periods of greater heat and warmth in the past but I believe we contribute to that. And so I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases.”

Grist’s Christopher Mims also slammed Romney. “If there’s one thing Mitt Romney’s good at, it’s turning directly into whatever political winds are blowing through the Republican base.”

While 97% of climate scientists agree that human activity is causing climate change, Romney perhaps read a recent Reuters poll that showed 43% of Republicans (and 49% of tea party members) believe global warming is the result of natural causes.
Of course, while liberals repeat the usual lie that "97% of climate scientists agree that human activity is causing climate change", conservatives are well aware that over 30,000 scientists signed a petition urging the United States to reject the Kyoto agreement, stating that "there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth." Conservatives are also aware that Al Gore has gotten exceedingly rich since he became the planet's spokesman for "climate change". Coincidence? I think not.

Super Rich Scam Artist Al Gore Screams About Global-Warming Skeptics

Hotair.com:
Via Fox Nation. Four years ago, when he won the Nobel, 71 percent said they believed that carbon emissions were causing global warming. Four years later, after a crushing recession, Climategate, and an epic failure at Copenhagen, only 44 percent say they believe it. Meanwhile, 69 percent say it’s likely that global-warming scientists have falsified climate research. What you’re hearing here, in other words, is the voice of a man who’s very, very frustrated, not merely because the science is being questioned but because the dream of a global agreement to limit industrial growth isn’t a priority in a world frantic for economic growth of any sort, industrial or otherwise. To that end, if you missed it in June, read Walter Russell Mead’s three-part series (one, two, and three) on Gore’s green travails. Part one deals with the eternal “do as I say, not as I do” problem; part three tries to contextualize him within the tradition of southern liberalism. Part two gets to the heart of it:

The dream that the menace of global warming will cause humanity to overcome its ancient divisions and unite in a grand global coalition is sophomoric. Rising CO2 levels will not cause the world’s governments to accept and enforce international policing of the most intimate details of their economic lives. If the menace of nuclear war can’t create world government, the menace of global warming won’t do it either…

Mr. Gore’s work up to and including his latest Rolling Stone essay has taken a demagogic rather than intellectual approach. His method of arguing is to trumpet the science of climate change and to make ad hominem arguments against its opponents. The science is clear, it is settled, and the opposition against it is funded by people with an economic stake in denial. I am right about the science and my opponents are a bunch of evil opportunists in it only for the money…

The green movement’s core tactic is not to “hide the decline” or otherwise to cook the books of science. Its core tactic to cloak a comically absurd, impossibly complex and obviously impractical political program in the authority of science. Let anyone attack the cretinous and rickety construct of policies, trade-offs, offsets and bribes by which the greens plan to govern the world economy in the twenty first century, and they attack you as an anti-science bigot.

To argue with these people about science is to miss the core point. Even if the science is exactly as Mr. Gore claims, his policies are still useless.

Could be. Or maybe if he rants just loudly and long enough, with lots of personal derision towards those who question this scheme, the skeptics will start to see the light. No.

Liberal Media and Politicians Drop 'Global Warming' in Favor of 'Climate Change'

Interesting:
Over the past three years, the number of believers in anthropogenic global warming has been on a steady decline, while the number of believers in natural planetary warming and cooling cycle has been on a steady incline. The shrinking pool of people who still swear by Al Gore's Hollywood version of the climate trend is especially populated with journalists and politicians who refuse admit they were wrong and consider any science debunking manmade global warming.

As the numbers fail each year to match Gore's wild predictions, it is becoming increasingly difficult to form any logical support for Gore's gloom and doom global warming scenarios. To rectify the situation, the global warming community has quietly rebranded its cause as 'climate change,' which allows activists to push an environmental agenda without the threat of the earth's temperature not rising with it.

Following one of the coldest winters in history earlier this year, warmists are struggling to defend an ever imposing doom that global warming might in fact be an entirely natural phenomenon.

As Marc Morano reiterated Thursday at the sixth annual International Conference on Climate Change (or the 'Climate Denier Conference,' as the Washington Post would call it), warmists believe 'any weather event is proof of the theory,' whether it be snowfalls in April or hurricanes in November. In a world in which we can rarely predict ten-day forecasts accurately, it is astounding that such a large community still props up Gore's fabricated data and charts as explanations for every catastrophic weather event that occurs.

The shift away from the global warming rhetoric has actually come quite ironically. As Todd Myers of the Washington Policy Institute points out, the 'climate change' term was originally used by President George W. Bush in 2002. Of course, Bush was quickly lambasted by left-wing media for the move away from 'global warming.' One such hit came from the UK's Guardian:

The US Republican party is changing tactics on the environment, avoiding "frightening" phrases such as global warming, after a confidential party memo warned that it is the domestic issue on which George Bush is most vulnerable.

The memo, by the leading Republican consultant Frank Luntz, concedes the party has "lost the environmental communications battle" and urges its politicians to encourage the public in the view that there is no scientific consensus on the dangers of greenhouse gases.

[...]

The phrase "global warming" should be abandoned in favour of "climate change", Mr Luntz says, and the party should describe its policies as "conservationist" instead of "environmentalist", because "most people" think environmentalists are "extremists" who indulge in "some pretty bizarre behaviour... that turns off many voters".

Today, though, the same people who criticized Bush for his coining of the 'climate change' term are now flocking to the buzz phrase to pretend they were right all along, that heavy winters, too, can be a result of global warming.

A study released earlier this year might explain the newly warm embrace of the term 'climate change,' which proved that skepticism of global warming drops to much lower levels when it is called 'climate change.' While the latter is traditionally understood to mean the climate change that occurs during natural cycles of warming and cooling, liberals have warped it be synonymous with global warming, enabling them to push the same environmental agenda under a more widely accepted moniker. According to the authors of the study,

Republicans were less likely to endorse that the phenomenon is real when it was referred to as “global warming” (44.0%) rather than “climate change” (60.2%), whereas Democrats were unaffected by question wording (86.9% vs. 86.4%). As a result, the partisan divide on the issue dropped from 42.9 percentage points under a “global warming” frame to 26.2 percentage points under a “climate change” frame.

As the lead author of the study, Dr. Jonathon Schuldt, explained, 'wording matters.'

Wording does matter, as the crumbling global warming debate has become emblazoned with a new vocabulary masking the same relentless green message, using the trendiest language to morph the science to their agenda. While the term 'global warming' failed as a catch-all, the term 'climate change' can be used as a convenient excuse to explain any weather pattern environmentalists want to blame on human activity and to impose ever more burdensome environmental regulation on us.

Al Gore Compares Global Warming Debate to Civil Rights Movement

This is what it's come down to for ManBearPig, a pathetic con artist who now has to brainwash young people into buying his lies. Of course, the civil rights movement was based decades of racial discrimination that led to the deaths of millions of black folks, while "global warming" or "climate change" or whatever the hell they call it now, is littered with nothing but lies, propaganda and the Left's an innate ability to move the goalposts whenever something really inconvenient like facts get in the way. The audacity of white liberals to pimp the civil rights movement for their scheming, corrupt and immoral agenda whenever possibel should not surprise anybody:
As NewsBusters previously reported, a climate conference is taking place this weekend in Washington, D.C., where thousands of youth activists are sadly being brainwashed by the likes of Obama's former green jobs czar Van Jones and members of the International Socialists Organization.

Giving one of the keynote speeches Friday evening was Nobel laureate Al Gore who told attendees that the fight against global warming is like the Civil Rights movement of the '60s

Keith Olbermann to become “Chief News Officer” of Al Gore’s Cable Channel

Hey, does anyone really have a problem with a blowhard like the Goracle taking on that ego? If it doesn't work out (and ut won't) they can easily just blame it on global warming:
Less than a month after leaving MSNBC, liberal lightning rod Keith Olbermann said Tuesday he's headed to Current TV, the public affairs channel launched six years ago by former Vice President Al Gore.

Olbermann will start this spring with a prime-time talk show on Current. He was also named chief news officer at Current, which is available in 60 million homes in the U.S., a little more than half the nation's homes with television.

Financial terms were not divulged, although Current said Olbermann will get an equity stake in the company.
Olbermann's hiring was the biggest moment in the history of Current, which began as a network geared primarily toward young people featuring viewer-generated short videos and is now evolving into a more traditional network. Its showcase is the investigative documentary series "Vanguard."

"We now live in a world with fewer and fewer opportunities to hear truly unique, truly unfettered voices on television," Gore said. "Keith is one of those rare voices."

Olbermann's sudden departure from MSNBC, announced simultaneously by himself and the network on a Friday night, was never really explained. He'd been an occasional headache for his bosses, and was briefly suspended last year for making campaign contributions in violation of NBC News policy.

"Cool It" Film Rebuts Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"

NYPost.com:
'Cool It," a documentary about a mild-mannered Dane proposing solutions to global warming, carries a message likely to provoke, agitate and even infuriate. The message? The world is not going to end.

Bjorn Lomborg, who (like Al Gore) is not a climatologist but a gadfly with training in political science, says global warming is an important problem and praises Gore for drawing attention to the issue with "An Incovenient Truth." But "Cool It" -- complete with its own slide show and witty graphics -- amounts to a devastating rebuttal to Gore-ism.

If someone ever demands you watch Gore's film, agree! -- on condition that your friend watch this optimistic, wised-up answer.

Los Angeles School Named After Al Gore Built on Toxic Site

FOXNews.com:

In an honor that could be misinterpreted as a slap in the face, a Los Angeles school district has named a new academy after Al Gore -- the only problem is the school was built on toxic soil.

The Los Angeles Times reports that crews worked up to the Labor Day weekend to try to clean up the Carson-Gore Academy of Environmental Sciences in the run-up to its Sept. 13 opening.

The $75.5 million facility was named after Gore, who has made bringing awareness to climate change a personal cause since leaving office, and environmental author Rachel Carson. The former vice president was never informed the school would bear his name.

Wonder why.

According to the Times, the soil underneath the building used to hold more than a dozen storage tanks. An environmental coalition complained that the school was an "affront" to its namesakes.
