Requirement To Consider Gay Couples for Adoption Forces Illinois Catholic Charities Affiliates To Close

Roman Catholic bishops in Illinois have shuttered most of the Catholic Charities affiliates in the state rather than comply with a new requirement that says they must consider same-sex couples as potential foster-care and adoptive parents if they want to receive state money. The charities have served for more than 40 years as a major link in the state’s social service network for poor and neglected children.


The bishops have followed colleagues in Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts who had jettisoned their adoption services rather than comply with nondiscrimination laws.


For the nation’s Catholic bishops, the Illinois requirement is a prime example of what they see as an escalating campaign by the government to trample on their religious freedom while expanding the rights of gay people. The idea that religious Americans are the victims of government-backed persecution is now a frequent theme not just for Catholic bishops, but also for Republican presidential candidates and conservative evangelicals.


“In the name of tolerance, we’re not being tolerated,” said Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield, Ill., a civil and canon lawyer who helped drive the church’s losing battle to retain its state contracts for foster care and adoption services.

Once again, the "rights" of those who engage in an immoral sexual choice trumps those seriously in need of a home.

Charles Krauthammer: ‘Ridiculous’ GOP Congress And ‘Embarrassing’ Candidates Are Handing Obama A Victory

President Obama’s consistent lead over most Republican contenders has taken some on the right by surprise, given his low approval ratings and the bad economy the administration can’t seem to shake. To Charles Krauthammer, none of the credit should go to President Obama, however, but to the “embarrassing” Republican candidates and the “ridiculous” behavior of the Congressional Republican leadership.


Krauthammer explained during Special Report today that President Obama has mostly been a “passive observer” to a landscape that has been remarkably favorable to him and his administration despite the bad times domestically. Krauthammer attributed the “ridiculous way the Republicans have conducted themselves in Congress” for “making Obama look like at least a grown-up,” while Republicans have had “an almost year-long exposure to a weak Republican field.” “The fact that Santorum is the last standing alternative,” he explained, “think of how this is going: Trump, Bachmann, Perry, then Cain, then Newt– who’s really in decline now– Ron Paul, who is on the ascent but not electable, then Santorum.”


Concluding that “Every alternative is going to get a try,” Krauthammer highlighted how the weak field made a difference by arguing, “imagine a race with a Mitch Daniels, Paul Ryan, Christie, Thune… it would’ve had a completely different complexion” instead of having “embarrassing candidates like Cain and others.”

Chicago Cardinal Francis George is drawing criticism after comparing the gay rights movement to the Ku Klux Klan.


George was asked during an interview on WFLD-TV what he thought about a local priest's concerns that the city's annual gay pride parade might interrupt morning Mass at his church.


George replied that he was concerned the gay rights movement might "morph into something like the Ku Klux Klan, demonstrating in the streets against Catholicism."


He says the rhetoric of the KKK and some in the gay rights movement involving the Catholic Church was similar.


On Thursday, a coalition of Catholic groups that work for LGBT rights called George's comments "crude" and "demagogic."


Organizers of the June parade agreed Wednesday to start later to avoid disrupting church services.

Three Girl Scout troops at a Christian school in Louisiana have disbanded in protest of a policy of inclusion for transgenders.


The incident began last month when a mother in Denver tried to get her 7-year-old son admitted into a local Girl Scout troop. The mother insisted that he lived like a little girl, but the transgendered child was initially not allowed into the troop.


Unhappy with the decision, the mother called a press conference to protest, causing the Colorado chapter to review its decision and emphasize its practice of inclusion.


Rachelle Trujillo, vice president of Communication for Girl Scouts of Colorado, told The Christian Post on Wednesday that the organization respects the rights and decisions of families. If parents brought a child to a meeting, and the child is recognized in the community as their daughter, then the Girl Scouts accept that. “We don’t require proof of gender,” she said.


But for now, Trujillo said, the transgendered child’s mother from Colorado has told them she will think about things and call them back regarding her son joining a Girl Scout troop. So far she hasn’t contacted the Colorado group again.

During a campaign stop in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Republican hopeful Newt Gingrich allegedly told a gay Iowan he would be better off voting for President Obama.


According to the Des Moines Register’s Jason Clayworth, Scott Arnold, an associate professor of writing at William Penn University, approached the former Speaker of the House and “asked him if he’s elected, how does he plan to engage gay Americans. How are we to support him?” “He told me to support Obama,” said Arnold.

Bill O'Reilly opened his show announcing a particularly exciting interview double-header today– yes, 2012 Republican candidate and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich would be on the program, but not before an extended interview with his former nemesis, former President Bill Clinton. O’Reilly got the former President’s opinion on just about every political topic in the news today, but, naturally, the most fascinating tidbits of the interview related to Gingrich and his ability to win the nomination. President Clinton had a thought or two on this.


Beginning the interview with a discussion on the Simpson-Bowles commission report, current tax rates, and whether Democrats were campaigning on a “class warfare” agenda, O’Reilly then shifted gears to ask President Clinton about Obamacare, and whether the Supreme Court would overturn the individual mandate. “I don’t think so; I hope not,” Clinton responded. The rest of the first segment focused on immigration and other issues particularly.


Clinton told O’Reilly he believed that President Obama appeared more vulnerable now that he will in the general election because “he’s out there running against himself out,” though O’Reilly countered that he believed 2012 would be a referendum vote. That said, O’Reilly turned to Gingrich, and his relationship with the former President.


O’Reilly didn’t mince words in asking, “do you respect him as a man?” Clinton responded that he did not “disrespect anybody who works with me in good faith,” adding that Gingrich was a “scorched earth politics” sort of actor and he saw much of that during his tenure. That said, Clinton did note that he “eventually hammered out a really productive relationship with him.” His ultimately good relationship with Gingrich aside, Clinton answered fairly strongly that he would not vote for Gingrich, but because “I’m going to vote for Obama,” and that he could not take the Democratic vision for the country out of the equation to judge whether he would vote for Gingrich.


The hypothetical vote questions continued, as O’Reilly asked Clinton whether he would vote for Mitt Romney in New Hampshire. Clinton answered that he was “not going to get in that Republican Party” with a chuckle, but later recanted and added that he liked Jon Huntsman, and argued “he arguably has the most consistently conservative economic record of anyone running.”

Rep. Allen West Tells Eric Holder 'It's Not About Your Race, It's About Your Competence'

When all else fails, black liberals like Eric Holder love to play the race card. After all, when it comes to deflecting self-responsibility or blame for your own insidious actions, the oldest trick in the book to get white folks to back off you is to deem them as "racist". Good thing a black man who knows a thing or two about race like the great Allen West is here to tell us that he ain't having it:

Florida Republican Rep. Allen West told The Daily Caller on Monday that Attorney General Eric Holder’s use of the race card as a way to attack those who are criticizing him is “reprehensible.”


“I think this is absolutely the last card in the deck, and that shows how weak their ground is,” West said in a phone interview. “But, what that means is they want to make white individuals afraid of continuing to put the pressure on Eric Holder because they don’t want to be seen as racist, and that is something that we have got to move beyond.”


Holder had told The New York Times over the weekend, in a front page Sunday story, that he thinks those who are criticizing him have racial motivations to do so. Holder said some unspecified faction — what he refers to as the “more extreme segment” — is driven to criticize both him and President Barack Obama due to the color of their skin. Holder did not appear to elaborate on who he considered to make up the “more extreme segment.”


“This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” Holder said, according to the Times. “Both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”


West said Holder can’t logically assign race as a motivation behind the criticisms for his handling of Operation Fast and Furious. “What Fast and Furious has to do with is misleading the Congress and the American people about what you knew about this program, and if you did not know anything about this program, then who’s in charge of the Department of Justice?” West said. “It has nothing to do with your race — it has everything to do with competence, with your character and with your ability to lead the Department of Justice.”


West said Holder’s use of race as a way to attack his critics is “the most insidious thing I ever heard.”


“I grew up in the United States military and it’s not about your color, it’s about your competence, it’s about your abilities to execute a mission,” West said. “If your commanding officer turns heat on you, it’s because you have failed to achieve the mission and I think what we’re doing is we’re looking at something that was a very horrible program — this Operation Fast and Furious.”

Biderman has erected a billboard in Pennsylvania with Gingrich’s likeness, and a headline reading “Faithful Republican, Unfaithful Husband’ with the former GOP speaker pictured making a shushing gesture.

Milk Street Cafe, the restaurant whose business dried up in the face of the Occupy Wall Street barricades, is shutting down.


Thursday will be the last day for the 23,000 square-foot eatery that opened at 40 Wall St. in June, the Daily News has learned.


“It’s terribly sad,” Milk Street Cafe owner Marc Epstein told the News.


Epstein blamed the barricades that remained in front of his restaurant even after the Occupy Wall Street protestors were removed from Zuccotti Park.


“This is now the 12th straight week of the barricades,” he said.


The restaurant owner, who operates an eatery and catering business in Boston, said he pressed the city daily for their removal, but got nowhere.


Milk Street Cafe’s closure will result in the layoff of 70 workers. That’s on top of the 21 let go in October.


In recent days, Epstein tried to find resources to remain open, but in the end he couldn’t come up with the cash to keep the vast restaurant running.


“Everyone has to understand the consequences of their actions,” he said. “I have 90 plus people who put their faith in me. I feel horrible.”


When asked whether he would ever open a restaurant in New York again, Epstein responded, “Never.”

Michael Bloomberg Lashes Out At Liberal Judge Evelyn Laporte Who Freed 'Cop Killer'

Mayor Bloomberg lashed out today at the Brooklyn judge who freed accused cop killer Lamont Pride, saying she could have made one phone call that could have taken him off the streets.


"The reason he was not behind bars the last time is that a judge here in New York not only didn't put him behind bars, she didn't even think it was appropriate for bail. And he had a long history of not showing up. He had a long criminal record," the mayor said, visibly upset.


He was referring to Judge Eveyln Laporte, who allowed Pride to go free in his own recognizance when he was arrested on a drug bust last month, ignoring a $2,500 bail request from the DA's office and a warrant from North Carolina.


"If the judge didn't understand the warrant from North Carolina, the judge could have picked up the phone," said the mayor.


Bloomberg disclosed that Brooklyn DA Charles J. Hynes' office made a second bail request that Laporte also rejected.


"The district attorney did seem to try to get bail and came back again when the judge said no bail," the mayor said.


"But if you're talking about somebody who the rap sheet in front of you shows is potentially a dangerous person, has a gun, has a criminal history, common sense says don't let him out until you make one phone call. It's not a lot of work to do to protect the public. It wasn't done here, plain and simple."


Bloomberg made his comments during a press conference about another undercover operation to root out illegal gun sales, this time over the Internet.


When a reporter asked if the city might have overstepped its bounds in sending private investigators to Ohio and others states at a cost of $290,000, the mayor couldn't wait to respond:


"Miss, Peter Figoski was our police officer. We didn't overstep anything. If I had to spend double that money to save one police officer's life I would do it instantly," he declared, his voice rising.


Bloomberg has been pushing for stricter guns laws for years with limited success in Congress.


"Maybe you show a picture of Peter Figoski and his daughters,'' he said of legislators who won't balk the powerful National Rifle Association. "Maybe that'll get them to do it."

Chris Matthews Apologizes for MSNBC's KKK Smear of Mitt Romney: 'Appalling Lack of Judgment'

MSNBC's Chris Matthews on Wednesday apologized for his network's "appalling lack of judgment" in comparing a Mitt Romney campaign slogan to the Ku Klux Klan. The Hardball host conceded, "It was irresponsible and incendiary of us to do this, and it showed an appalling lack of judgment. We apologize, we really do, to the Romney campaign." [See video below. In the 11am hour of MSNBC, anchor Thomas Roberts smeared, "...So you might not hear Mitt Romney say 'keep America American' anymore. That's because it was a central theme of the KKK in the 1920s. It was a rallying cry for the group's campaign of violence and intimidation against blacks, gays and Jews. The progressive blog America blog was the first to catch onto that."


A MSNBC graphic indicted, "Romney's KKK Slogan?"


It's rather lame for MSNBC to have Chris Matthews apologize for Thomas Roberts' attack. Will he apologize, live, on Thursday?

Liberal Networks Do Their Own Bullying on Gay Teens

Liberals love to pose as free-speech defenders against the “chilling effect” of societal censorship. But when it comes to the gay agenda, they intend to intimidate dissent of any kind. They even line up mourning parents to accepting public shame for their child's suicide for not being "progressive" enough. That is chilling.


On the December 12 Today, NBC reporter Kerry Sanders updated viewers on the suicide of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi, who jumped off a bridge after being mocked on Facebook. Sanders asked Clementi’s mother if her son picked up on her shock when he came out as gay to her, and she said yes. Sanders then poked her in the face: “Tyler later tweeted to a friend ‘Mom has basically completely rejected me.’ Has that tweet haunted you in any way?” She said yes.


But that wasn’t enough. They invited Clementi’s parents into the studio, where co-host Ann Curry slapped the mother again: "Did you feel, as you look back over this, that he had someone to speak to, that he was supported, that had he had that support, he might not have taken his own life?...You know, this idea of – we just heard about it in Kerry Sanders' piece about how he felt about your reaction, Jane, when you came out to him saying that you – saying that he was gay. If you had a second chance, if you could have a do-over, how would you wish you could have reacted when he told you he was gay?"


She replied, “I don't know that you can change your reactions.” She explained that her son knew she still loved him. But NBC was implying she had a role in her son’s suicide. Her initial reaction of shock wasn’t supportive enough to save his life.


Any parent can feel empathy (and horror) over a child contemplating suicide, and any parent can feel very protective of their children being bullied in school. But on the subject of homosexuality, the media operate more like a strict church than a Free Speech Club. There is no fairness in a balanced debate. Balance allows the airing of hatred. Fairness is only guaranteed by unquestioning unanimity. A traditional religious viewpoint of opposition – of any religion – is utterly avoided, skipped over, censored. God gets no air time.


This is especially true when the subject is the bullying of homosexual teenagers. “It Gets Better” videos have made by politicians and celebrities around the world urging teens not to commit suicide. The media's approach seems like Winning Through Intimidation. The socially conservative side is cartooned into being "pro-bullying," which gives journalists the free pass to ignore any dissent. The media operate a kangaroo court. A homosexual teenager makes accusations of bullying in school. The alleged bullies and demonizers are not called to confess or object. There is an assumption of deep and heinous guilt. There is a verdict with no trial. Inside the media, there is a new church and a new dogma that must be obeyed: the church of “It Gets Better.”


Consider the case of 13-year-old Jonah Mowry, who made an “It Gets Better” video that was celebrated by the bishops of the new religion, singer Lady Gaga and gay gossip Perez Hilton. Mowry held up a series of cards about being bullied since first grade and cried as he told of how he cut himself in self-loathing. The video's approaching eight million views on YouTube and now sells iTunes on the song Mowry chose to underscore his anguish.


ABC’s Lara Spencer gushed like a waterfall in an inteview on “Good Morning America” on December 9: “And, now, we turn to the bullied teen who stood up for himself in an online video, and has since become a national hero. 14-year-old Jonah Mowry posted this YouTube video. It is raw. It is heartbreaking, and just so courageous. So inspiring, anti-bullying crusader Lady Gaga tweeted about it. Well, that incredible young man is here to speak out for the first time in just a moment.”


Spencer reported, "It might have remained one of the millions of barely-seen videos on YouTube. But then, last week, Perez Hilton blogged about it, and it caught fire, a viral video sensation. Jonah got tweets of support from celebrities like Nick Jonas, Rosie O'Donnell, Jane Lynch, and Lady Gaga."


Then came the warmest of introductions: "For more, now, we're joined by the brave, young man you just saw. 14-year-old Jonah Mowry, along with his mom, and his dad, Peggy Sue and Kevin, and his brother, Julian. Welcome to you all. So, it must feel pretty good to have 7.8 million supporters behind you, including Lady Gaga, Perez Hilton, and so many more."


It sounded like a gay version of “The 700 Club,” but instead of a teen testifying that he was coming to Christ, he was coming out of the closet. Spencer was ABC’s Pat Robertson equivalent, honoring him as “brave” and a “remarkable young man” and a "national hero" and cheering him on to testify.


The story had a happy ending. Mowry said the school principal was “very supportive” and the students were “very supportive and very welcoming and nice.” No one wondered if perhaps Mowry’s accusation of constant daily bullying since first grade was overwrought. But the networks can't even show any skepticism or neutrality or nuance.

Supreme Court Accepts Arizona’s Appeal of Immigration-law Decision

The Supreme Court announced Monday it will hear a challenge to Arizona's controversial immigration law, setting up another high-profile decision for the court's coming term.


Arizona asked the court to allow the state to enforce legislation that has been blocked after being challenged by the Obama administration, including provisions that would enable police officers to question a person's immigration status if they suspect the person is in the country illegally. The law would also make it a crime to not carry proof of legal immigration status, make it against state law for an illegal immigrant to seek employment, and allow police to detain those suspected of being illegal immigrants without a warrant.


The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked each of those provisions in April.


“I would like to commend the U.S. Supreme Court for its decision to review and hear arguments pertaining to the federal court injunction," said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer in a statement Monday. "I am confident the High Court will uphold Arizona’s constitutional authority and obligation to protect the safety and welfare of its citizens."


The undertaking by the court will be the second high-profile case expected to be decided in the heat of the 2012 presidential campaign. Arguments are expected in April, with a decision in early summer.


The court is also primed to consider the constitutional challenge to the individual mandate in President Obama's healthcare reform law.


Justice Elena Kagan said Monday that she would recuse herself from the challenge to Arizona's controversial immigration law, presumably because she served as Obama's solicitor general when the federal government filed the original lawsuit against the state.


Her recusal opens up the possibility for a rare 4-4 split on the court; since a lower court blocked provisions of the law, the tie would uphold that ruling and function as a win for the Obama administration. But the court would not be able to settle the larger issue of whether the Arizona statute is constitutional in the event of tie.


The Justice Department has contended that regulating immigration is a federal responsibility, and has fought the Arizona law and similar variations in Alabama, South Carolina and Utah.


“Arizonans are understandably frustrated with illegal immigration, and the federal government has a responsibility to comprehensively address those concerns,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement earlier this year. “But diverting federal resources away from dangerous aliens such as terrorism suspects and aliens with criminal records will impact the entire country’s safety. Setting immigration policy and enforcing immigration laws is a national responsibility. Seeking to address the issue through a patchwork of state laws will only create more problems than it solves.”


Arizona has argued that the federal government hasn't done enough to prevent illegal immigration, however, and that border states are experiencing higher crime and economic consequences.

Michael Savage Offers Newt Gingrich One Million Dollars To Drop Out Of Race

It doesn't matter how worse things have gotten under Obama in the last 3 years, conservatives know Newt Gingrich has way too much baggage to stand a chance against The One in 2012:

Conservative radio host Michael Savage has offered Newt Gingrich $1 million to drop out of the Republican primary race.


Savage posted the announcement on his website, and will go over the specific terms during his radio show on Monday.


He wrote that the Republican primary race has come down to two candidates: Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. He said that Romney was the only candidate capable of beating President Barack Obama in the general election. Therefore, he has offered Gingrich $1 million to "drop out of the presidential race for the sake of the nation."


Savage, who hosts the third-highest rated radio program in the country, outlined the reasons why he believed Gingrich was incapable of beating Obama. In addition to his marital infidelity, checkered past as Speaker of the House, and involvement with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Savage wrote that Gingrich "will come off badly compared to Obama" during presidential debates. Savage wrote that he will "look like nothing more than what he is: a fat, old, white man."


In order to claim his prize, Gingrich must drop out of the race within 72-hours. Savage urged Gingrich to "take the money."

Sean Hannity discussed the Donald’s influence in the Republican party with Democratic strategist Kirsten Powers and Republican strategist Kevin Madden.

Hannity wondered why any candidate polling poorly would avoid an invitation to such a high-profile event, given that any airtime is good exposure for these candidates. (Long-shot candidate Buddy Roemer has, in fact, publicly asked Trump to participate in the debate.) Powers found it hard to just accept that Trump suddenly became the Jeff Probst of the Republican party.


“I don’t understand how Donald Trump suddenly became this kingmaker in the Republican party. I’m a little puzzled by it, and I… ’cause it makes total sense to me that Republicans are saying no to him. And even this idea that people now go up to see Donald Trump to kiss his ring, I just… I don’t know, it’s just puzzling.”


Hannity countered that when Trump briefly “entered” the race, he was polling well. Yes, and Breaking Dawn: Part One broke box office records, it’s still a crappy Twilight movie. What other strong metric does Trump have going for him, according to Hannity? He’s a harsh Obama critic. Powers didn’t buy this explanation, pointing out the Obama administration has plenty of critics who aren’t wealthy megalomaniacs.


Madden, meanwhile, argued that one of the problems with having Trump host a debate would be that the Donald would gravitate towards the center of attention, as is his modus operandi. He expressed concerns that such a distraction would take away from the candidates’ efforts in early primary states. Madden also made the obvious observation that Trump is most likely not going to run for president as an independent, but says it as often as possible in order to garner the media’s attention.

Really. When does getting pregnant time and time again become a novelty act? In the wake of the sad news that she had suffered a miscarriage, 19 Kids and Counting star Michelle Duggar continues to rest comfortably at home, a TLC rep confirms to E! News.


It was during what Michelle thought would be a routine doctor's appointment on Thursday that she and husband Jim Bob learned that she had suffered a miscarriage in her second trimester. The couple had been looking forward to finding out the sex of what was going to be their 20th child together.


"Our doctor said it was wise to let this miscarriage happen naturally. And so that is what we are going to do," Michelle told People. "I am resting and I have felt good physically, which is strange."


Michelle also revealed that she suffered her first miscarriage after getting pregnant following the birth of her oldest son, Josh.


"We named that baby Caleb even though we didn't know if it was a boy or a girl because that miscarriage was early," Michelle said, adding: "We will name this child and will know that we will see those children again someday in heaven."


The family says they do plan on holding a funeral service.

Former Democrat Governor Jon Corzine Says He Doesn't Know Where An Estimated $1.2 Billion In Client Funds Are

Jon Corzine is not only a disgrace, but a man that Barack Obama and his entire leftwing base  tried to get re-elected in New Jersey a couple of years ago:

Jon S. Corzine told lawmakers he never intended to break any rules as head of MF Global Holdings Ltd. and doesn’t know what happened to an estimated $1.2 billion in missing client funds.


“I’m not in a position, given the number of transactions, to know anything specifically about the movement of any specific funds,” Corzine said today at a House Agriculture Committee hearing in Washington. “I certainly would never intend to direct or have segregated funds moved.”


Under subpoena and under oath, the former Democratic senator and New Jersey governor testified on Capitol Hill for two and a half hours, repeatedly apologizing to investors, customers and employees of the failed New York brokerage.


“I simply do not know where the money is, or why the accounts have not been reconciled to date,” Corzine said. “I apologize, both personally and on behalf of the company, to our customers, our employees and our investors. I truly know that they are bearing the brunt” of the collapse.


Under repeated questioning, Corzine said that he did not knowingly authorize any movement of funds out of client accounts, and that any such transfers could have been a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of his intent.

Liberal Democrat Congressman Hank Johnson Lies About Operation Fast And Furious

Georgia Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson accused the tea party movement and the National Rifle Association of creating an “manufactured” controversy over Operation Fast and Furious Thursday.


Johnson’s comments came during an interview with The Daily Caller outside the House Judiciary Committee hearing room. Attorney General Eric Holder was testifying before the committee about Fast and Furious — a Justice Department program where Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents facilitated the sale of about 2,000 guns to Mexican drug cartels.


“I think this is another manufactured controversy by the second amendment, NRA Republican tea party movement,” Johnson said.


Johnson sung a different tune during the hearing, though, comparing the scandal to what he considers a surge in illegal gun sales to criminals.


After asking Holder for the specific number of guns the Justice Department and ATF helped smuggle into the hands of drug cartels — to which Holder responded there were about 2,000 — Johnson alleged that the “gun show loophole” was far worse.


“Now, how many firearms are sold to al-Qaida terrorists, to other convicted felons, to domestic violence perpetrators, to convicted felons, to white supremacists?” Johnson asked Holder. “How many unlicensed gun dealers, or let’s say, how many weapons, how many assault rifles let’s just say in a given year are sold to such individuals by unlicensed gun dealers at these gun shows and how many of those end up walking away to Mexico? Can you give us a number on that?”


“I don’t have a number on that,” Holder said, offering to try to figure out later for Johnson what the exact number was.

On Wednesday, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly tackled the controversy and discussion surrounding GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann‘s recent talk with the eight-year-old son of lesbian parents.


O’Reilly echoed the assessment of others (including our own Jon Bershad) who felt the little boy’s mother was essentially using her son to make a political point. He invited gay activist Sally Kohn onto the program to discuss it further.


Kohn, herself the mother of a three-year-old, disagreed with O’Reilly’s take that, given the child’s young age and childen’s assumed lack of familiarity with gay issues, he must’ve been coached by his mother on what to tell Bachmann. “Kids aren’t raised in a vacuum,” she said. “They see the political discourse going on them. This kid probably sees his family, his mother being attacked by politicians like Michele Bachmann. And no doubt he has a very clear opinion that his mom is a great mom and shouldn’t be a political football.”


“Well, I think you’re living in the land of Oz,” said O’Reilly. He pointed out that he’s also the parent of an eight-year-old boy, and he’s pretty confident that they’re not going around thinking about gay rights. He also felt that the little boy’s words — specifically that his mommy doesn’t need “fixing” — sound inauthentic for a boy his age. He felt that the boy’s mother should have spoken for herself, and that having her child “do the talking for her” actually does a disservice to her cause.


“You think this kid, Elijah, knows who Michele Bachmann is? Are you kidding me?”


“I think you’re not giving this eight-year-old a lot of credit,” said Kohn.


“This is cowardly!” replied O’Reilly, noting that everyone would “likely have applauded” the child’s mother had she made the point herself that she was a good and responsible parent to her son who wanted a little more open-mindedness on Bachmann’s part.

Former Democrat Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich Sentenced To 14 Years In prison

Rod Blagojevich, the ousted Illinois governor whose three-year battle against criminal charges became a national spectacle, was sentenced to 14 years in prison Wednesday, one of the stiffest penalties imposed for corruption in a state with a history of crooked politics.


Among his 18 convictions is the explosive charge that he tried to leverage his power to appoint someone to President Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat in exchange for campaign cash or land a high-paying job.


Judge James Zagel gave Blagojevich some credit for taking responsibility for his actions – which the former governor did in an address to the court earlier in the day – but said that didn't mitigate his crimes. Zagel also said Blagojevich did good things for people as governor, but was more concerned about using his powers for himself.


"When it is the governor who goes bad, the fabric of Illinois is torn and disfigured and not easily repaired," Zagel said.


As the judge announced the sentence, which includes a $20,000 fine, Blagojevich hunched forward and his face appeared frozen. Minutes later, his wife, Patti Blagojevich, stood up and fell into her husband's arms. He pulled back to brush tears off her cheek and then rubbed her shoulders.


On his way out of the courthouse, Blagojevich cited author Rudyard Kipling and said it was a time to be strong, to fight through adversity and be strong for his children. He said he and wife were heading home to speak to their daughters, and then left without answering any questions.


The twice-elected Democrat received by far the harshest sentence among the four Illinois governors sent to prison in the last four decades. He is the second in a row to go to prison; his Republican predecessor, George Ryan, currently is serving 6 1/2 years. The other two got three years or less.


Blagojevich, in a last plea for mercy, tried something he never had before: an apology. After years of insisting he was innocent, he told the judge he'd made "terrible mistakes" and acknowledged that he broke the law.


"I caused it all, I'm not blaming anybody," Blagojevich said. "I was the governor and I should have known better and I am just so incredibly sorry."

Neil Cavuto Asks Donald Trump ‘If All This Is Just To Get Publicity For Your Book’

Maybe the GOP really doesn't want to win the presidency next year, because anyone who would associate with, much less appear on some stupid debate hosted by the likes of a famewhore like Donald Trump is just begging to lose. That says you Next Gingrich:

This afternoon on Fox News, Neil Cavuto not “disparagingly, just realistically” asked Donald Trump if his upcoming gig hosting a GOP presidential debate for Newsmax if really all little more than an attempt to garner publicity for his new book.


“No, I don’t think at all,” said Trump. “I mean, you know, people talk. Look, I’ve had the number one selling business book. Here we are on a great business show, a fantastic business show that I watch all the time, but as you know, The Art of the Deal was the number one selling business book of all time. I’ve had twelve bestsellers. This is, frankly, a book that I’m very proud of. It’s actually a book I’ve probably worked the hardest on.”


Trump then admitted that all the attention on him right now “doesn’t hurt” his book sales.


Cavuto then began to form a question about the dark times Trump faced coming out of bankruptcy, when Trump interrupted to say that he’s never gone bankrupt. “On the brink, let’s say,” Cavuto ventured. “Neil, I never went bankrupt,” Trump continued. “People say I went bankrupt, but I don’t understand.”


Cavuto noticed that he’d seemed to have “opened up a wound here,” and gave Trump a change to explain what, exactly, had happened to his business in the early 90s.


“Nothing happened,” Trump replied. “I was in trouble like almost everybody else, and I worked out my difficulties. I have some great banks that are with me to this day; they love Trump.”


“I wonder whether candidates who suck up to you fear you as much as they suck up to you,” said a characteristically hesitant Cavuto. “I don’t think they should fear me at all,” Trump replied.


He added, once again, that he’d be open to running if the Republicans don’t pick the “right” candidate. Also, he has a successful show and did well in the polls before he left. Just so you know.

REPORT: Pedophilia Rampant In Liberal Hollywood

Hollyweird. A rich cesspool of rich and morally corrupt liberals who indoctrinate their Godless agenda through movies and television shows and mostly vote Democrat is rampant with sexual abuse of children? Shocker:

If a spate of recent allegations proves true, Hollywood may have a hideous epidemic on its hands. The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.


Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors, was charged in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 with sexually abusing a former client. His accuser, who was under 12 years old during the time of the alleged abuse, reported to authorities that Weiss told him "what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry." Weiss has pleaded not guilty.


On Nov. 21, Fernando Rivas, 59, an award-winning composer for “Sesame Street,” was arraigned on charges of coercing a child “to engage in sexually explicit conduct” in South Carolina. The Juilliard-trained composer was also charged with production and distribution of child pornography.


Registered sex offender Jason James Murphy, 35, worked as a casting agent in Hollywood for years before his past kidnapping and sexual abuse of a boy was revealed by the Los Angeles Times on Nov. 17. Murphy’s credits include placing young actors in kid-friendly fare like "Bad News Bears," "The School of Rock," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and the forthcoming "Three Stooges.”


Revelations of this sort come as no surprise to former child star Corey Feldman.


Feldman, 40, himself a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, unflinchingly warned of the world of pedophiles who are drawn to the entertainment industry last August. "I can tell you that the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was and is and always will be pedophilia,” Feldman told ABC’s Nightline. “That's the biggest problem for children in this industry... It's the big secret.”


Another child star from an earlier era agrees that Hollywood has long had a problem with pedophilia. “When I watched that interview, a whole series of names and faces from my history went zooming through my head,” Paul Peterson, 66, star of The Donna Reed Show, a sitcom popular in the 1950s and 60s, and president of A Minor Consideration, tells FOXNews.com. “Some of these people, who I know very well, are still in the game.”


“This has been going on for a very long time,” concurs former “Little House on the Prairie” star Alison Arngrim. “It was the gossip back in the ‘80s. People said, ‘Oh yeah, the Coreys, everyone’s had them.’ People talked about it like it was not a big deal.”


Arngrim, 49, was referring to Feldman and his co-star in “The Lost Boys,” Corey Haim, who died in March 2010 after years of drug abuse.


“I literally heard that they were ‘passed around,’” Arngrim said. “The word was that they were given drugs and being used for sex. It was awful – these were kids, they weren’t 18 yet. There were all sorts of stories about everyone from their, quote, ‘set guardians’ on down that these two had been sexually abused and were totally being corrupted in every possible way.”


In fact it is the very nature of a TV or movie set that invites predators, experts tell Fox News.


“A set in Hollywood with children can become a place that attracts pedophiles because the children there may be vulnerable and less tended to,” explains Beverly Hills-based psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman. “One thing we know about actors, psychologically speaking, is that they’re people who like a lot of attention. Kids naturally like a lot of attention, and when you put a kid on a set who is unsupervised and getting attention from someone who is powerful, it creates a vulnerability for a very dangerous situation.”


Feldman, who claims he was “surrounded” by pedophiles when he was 14, says the sexual abuse by an unnamed “Hollywood mogul” led to the death of his friend Haim at the age of 38. "That person needs to be exposed, but, unfortunately, I can't be the one to do it," Feldman told Nightline.


“There’s more than one person to blame,” says Arngrim. “I’m sure that it was not just one person who sexually abused Corey Haim, and I’m sure it wasn’t only him and Corey Feldman that knew about it. I’m sure that dozens of people were aware of the situation and chose to not report it.”

Bill O’Reilly Weighs In On Anderson Cooper/Ed Schultz Feud: ‘If You Give Gutter Snipes Publicity, They Win’

The cable news primetime triumvirate has now completely weighed in on Ed Schultz‘s position in GQ‘s “Least Influential People Alive of 2011” list. Bill O’Reilly started off his “Reality Check” segment tonight with the news of Schultz blaming Anderson Cooper for the article, ending with a bit of open-ended advice: “if you give gutter snipes publicity, they win.”


O’Reilly began the segment by noting that both CNN and MSNBC were “way behind FNC,” and that while MSNBC has attacked opponents in “vile, unprofessional ways,” CNN “usually stays above the fray.” Explaining the situation– that Schultz “apparently believes that CNN’s Anderson Cooper is behind a column in GQ magazine that mocks Schultz”– O’Reilly corrected Schultz’s claim that he crushes Cooper in the ratings, and played Cooper’s response.


He then gave his two cents, not taking any sides, but offering his experience: “I leanred the hard way with Al Franken that if you give gutter snipes publicity, they win.”

The McDonald’s cashier arrested for his supersized smackdown of two women who came around his counter to pick a fight has been cleared of all charges.


Rayon McIntosh, 31, was expected to be released from Rikers Friday night.


Prosecutors said a grand jury heard testimony for 11 days and voted to toss the case.


“We asked that Mr. McIntosh be released,” Assistant District Attorney Jaime Hickey-Mendoza said.


A whoop of “Hallelujah!” was heard in the courtroom after the announcement. A handful of relatives were present to hear the good news.


“They were trying to turn him into a monster, my son,” mom Maureen Lucas, a registered nurse from Rockland County, said as she sobbed with relief.


Her ex-con son, who served about a decade on a manslaughter rap, was getting his life back on track when the two foul-mouthed women threatened him, she said.


“If he didn’t have that record, they would never have arrested him,” Lucas said.


McIntosh has an 11-year-old daughter and took a fast-food job in an effort to get his life back on track, stepsister Jacara McIntosh said.


“No 31-year-old wants to work at McDonald’s making $7.25 an hour but he did it,” she said.


McIntosh said in an exclusive jailhouse interview with the Daily News that his Oct. 13 shift at the Greenwich Village fast food joint was peaceful until Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edwards, both 24, attempted to pay their check with a $50 bill.


He said the women flew into a rage when he checked to see if the note was genuine, as required by store policy.


“She started saying nasty things to me,” McIntosh said while stuck at Rikers Oct. 21. “She said, ‘Oh, you think my s-t is fake?...She started saying, ‘Suck my d-k.’ She called my mother a whore.”


He said one woman spat at him and both jumped the counter.


“I was being attacked by aggressive people I didn’t know,” he said. “I was just defending myself. They came in and went crazy on me.”


Video surveillance footage caught McIntosh grabbing a metal bar used to clean grills and bashing the women.


He was tossed in jail on assault and weapons charges. The women are facing charges of criminal trespassing, menacing and disorderly conduct.


A grand jury has yet to vote on the women’s case, a source told The News.


McIntosh’s defense lawyer said his client feared for his life.


“He didn’t know if they had a weapon,” lawyer Theodore Herlich said Friday. “They were saying, ‘We’re going to f--k you up.’ He thought they were saying, ‘We’re going to cut you up.’ I think the grand jury had a lot of sympathy for him based on the video, based on how the women were behaving.”


“He was at work. He wasn't looking for trouble,” Herlich said.

Herman Cain’s ‘Major Announcement’: ‘I Am Suspending My Presidential Campaign’

The Atlanta headquarters of Herman Cain for President was set to be opened today, but instead of that bureaucratic announcement, today the campaign announced it would make a “major” declaration about… something. Many speculated the campaign was over. There were rumors that Cain campaign staffers knew their fate was sealed. And now, finally, we know what the fuss was about: Cain is suspending his presidential campaign.


With early reports that Cain had arrived at the opening of his Atlanta headquarters accompanied by his previously elusive wife Gloria, pundits speculated for about an extra half hour after the original 1PM announcement time as to what Cain would say– some asserting that he was still in the race, others suggesting he may suspend the campaign for president but continue to campaign for ideas a la Sarah Palin. After the crowd finished an energetic chant of “Gloria!” in support of Cain’s wife, Cain finally put speculation to rest, but not before thanking his supporters for not being “warm weather supporters” and railing against Washington. “They have failed to provide economic growth, failed to get spending out of control failed to make us less dependent on foreign oil,” he argued.


He began to give a short biography of himself and of the Cain campaign, noting that it was “out of frustration that I made the decision to run,” despite not “fitting the usual description” of a presidential candidate. Thanking supporters again, Cain cracked a 999 joke, and then got serious. “We’re in the final four!” he told the audience, a month away from the Iowa caucuses. That said, he turned to the allegations about affairs and sexual harassment. “It distracted my ability to present solutions to the American people,” he noted, though admitted he “made many mistakes in life– everybody has.”


He then turned to the media:


Because of these false and unproven accusations, it has paid and had a tremendous, painful price on my family. These false and unproved allegations continued to be spinned [sic] in the media and in the court of public opinion so as to create a crowd of doubt over me and this campaign and my family. That spin hurts! It hurts my wife, it hurts my family, it hurts me, and it hurts the American people because you are being denied solutions to our problems.


Telling the audience that he is “at peace” with his wife and his family and his God, he explained that “becoming president was plan A,” one he was suspending because of “the continued hurt caused on me and my family, not because we are not fighters.”


The “good” news? CainSolutions.com launches today, Cain “will not be silenced,” and he will be making an endorsement in the Republican field. Chiquita Lockett said her 9-year-old son, Emanyea, spent the last two days at home.


Lockett said the principal of Brookside Elementary called her Wednesday to say the incident was a form of “sexual harassment.”


Emanyea told Eyewitness News a substitute teacher overheard him tell another student a teacher was cute.


Then he was suspended.


"It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way," Lockett said. "So why would he be suspended for two days?”


A district spokeswoman said she could not go into detail, but said Emanyea was suspended for "inappropriate behavior" after making "inappropriate statements."


The district's Code of Conduct doesn't list "inappropriate behavior," but says "disruption of school" is punishable by five days of out-of-school suspension.

Amnesty International Under Fire for Demanding Former President Bush's Arrest During Trip to Africa

Of course it's always funny watching which laws liberals like to hold up and pretend to care about. While the Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferers continue to harass the former President for having the audacity to give terrorists a hard time, they have no problem ignoring say, sanctuary cities who protect violent illegal aliens or a corrupt Obama administration that started an operation that led to the murder of a border patrol agent. But that's who they are and why they should never be taken seriously:

Former members of the George W. Bush administration assailed Amnesty International Thursday for demanding the former president's arrest while he and his family are in Africa, calling Amnesty's campaign at best a form of "harassment" and at worst a threat.


The world's largest human rights group said Thursday "there is enough evidence in the public domain" to justify Ethiopia, Tanzania or Zambia arresting the former president during his visit to the region on charges of committing "crimes under international law." The president is traveling in the three nations between Thursday and Monday to promote AIDS and cancer awareness.


"They've been trying to get any country where President Bush and Vice President Cheney visit to harass them wherever they go," former Justice Department attorney John Yoo said of Amnesty's actions.


"It could be taken as a call for violence against the president," said Brad Blakeman, a former Bush adviser who accompanied the former president to Africa in 2003.


Blakeman said Amnesty is just trying to "embarrass" the former president but the sustained campaign could be potentially dangerous.


"I think it's a threat upon ... the former president," he said.


The group said the three nations should investigate Bush's "alleged involvement in and responsibility for torture," referring to the Bush administration's use of waterboarding.


"All countries to which George W. Bush travels have an obligation to bring him to justice for his role in torture," said Matt Pollard, senior legal adviser for the American branch of AI.


But Bush officials said Amnesty's campaign at this point should be categorized as "harassment" -- particularly considering the purpose of Bush's visit.


"It shows how upside-down the human rights world is, where they're going after a president who's trying to save lives -- many, many lives. Why? Because they're upset about the treatment of three al Qaeda leaders in the war on terrorism," Yoo, who wrote memos that provided the legal basis for the CIA's Bush-era interrogation program, told FoxNews.com.

Bill O’Reilly Takes On California Medical Marijuana Purveyors

On his Wednesday night show, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly brought on Harborside Health Center executive director (/pot purveyor) Steve Deangelo and Andrew Deangelo to discuss — what else? — marijuana.


O’Reilly kicked things off by reminding his viewers that The Factor had been one of the first news programs to “expose the medical marijuana ruse in California.” Now, some medical marijuana dealers in the state are finding themselves in trouble with the federal government, which does not recognize California’s laws concerning sales of the substance.


Steve, who says he uses medical marijuana himself to help with the pain associated with having a degenerative disc, shared that, while sales of medical marijuana are in the millions, his center is a non-profit and he makes a set salary. Andrew says he also uses marijuana to help with his glaucoma.


O’Reilly noted that some people are being prescribed marijuana to deal with anxiety… even though anxiety is something every human being deals with on nearly a daily basis. So, basically, he mused, anyone can obtain a card permitting them to buy cannabis legally in the state of California. The Deangelos countered by pointing out that many are prescribed often dangerous prescription drugs to deal with anxiety, some with side effects much worse than what would be experienced by taking a specified amount of cannabis. And, besides, you aren’t able to purchase marijuana with them without permission from a doctor.


Steve added that, while he doesn’t have the medical training to determine who has a “chronic” [Ed. note: LOL] case of anxiety, he does check with the medical board of California to ensure that the doctors their patients use are “licensed and in good standing.”


Andrew then weighed in, telling O’Reilly that he does not support the legalization of cannabis for recreational purposes.


“But you know what the ruse is,” said O’Reilly. “You know what the scam is. I’m anxious, give me the card.”


“I don’t want to go blind, Bill,” said Andrew, referring to his glaucoma. “I don’t want to go blind.”

Earlier this week we told you about the fires that rapper T.I. ignited when he voiced his opinion on gays and the power they wield in the music industry.


In a cover story for VIBE magazine’s end of the year issue, T.I., 30, said “gay people are too sensitive” and he repeated an obscene joke about gay sex made by comedian Tracey Morgan before he too was shut down by the gay elite and forced to apologize.


It didn’t take long for the gays to strike back — and very soon thereafter, less than 72 hours later to be exact, T.I. crumbled under the pressure.


In a phone call to TMZ’s Harvey Levin yesterday, T.I. backed down from his earlier statements that one specialty group did not have the right to shut down the opinions of others because censorship is simply un-American.


Instead of sticking to his guns, T.I. allowed Levin to back him into a corner by agreeing that racism and the civil rights struggles somehow correlates with the current gay rights agenda.


Levin quickly put up a post with the headline: “T.I. [Says] Black People Can Be Oversensitive, Too”.


We’re not attacking T.I. because he supports Sandrarose.com, but the phone call, and its aftermath, were a disappointment to say the least.

Now of course, T.I.'s a rapper--an easy target for the bullies on the Left who love to compare the personal choice of committing gay acts to being black. If T.I. were smart enough he'd know that the idea of comparing centuries of discrimination, Jim Crow laws, slavery and the like to who someone chooses to sleeps with is beyond ludicrous and more importantly disrespectful to all black people. But he isn't and that's why a rich, influential, gay white guy like Harvey Levin can get away with kind of utter disrespect and not worry about a single black liberal calling him out for it--it's how the gay mafia works.

Chris Christie Blasts Obama: What The Hell Are We Paying You For?

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has already ruled out a run for the Republican nomination, lit in to President Barack Obama in a speech at Cathedral Kitchen in Camden, N.J., on Monday, for his failure to get the Super Committee to strike a deal before the deadline.


Christie was actually at the Cathedral Kitchen — which teaches ex-offenders cooking skills, so they can ease back into the job market — to introduce a new plan of his, which would have some non-violent criminals attend drug and alcohol treatment and counseling instead of going to prison. But the topic veered off into national politics, and Christie took a moment, in the kitchen, to address Obama’s dealing with the now-failed Super Committee:


“I was angry this weekend listening to the spin coming out of the administration,” Christie said. “The President knew it was doomed for failure, so he didn’t get involved. Well then what the hell are we paying you for? What have you been doing, exactly?”


Christie went on to say that both political parties deserve blame for the gridlock and frustration, adding that, “they’re spending more time talking at each other than with each other.” The governor pointed to the example of how he handled things in New Jersey to get things that needed to be done pushed through. “I had people of good will on the other side who said they believed it was their obligation, regardless of party,” Christie explained. “Why the president of the United States refuses to do this is astonishing to me.”
