Media Critic Trashes MSNBC ‘State Propaganda’ Following Hiring Of Ex-Obama Advisers

On a regular basis, there’s no shortage of criticism directed at Fox News for being consistently and unfairly biased. But Baltimore Sun media critic David Zurawik argues that MSNBC, having hired ex-Obama advisers David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs, is worse.

The network is now “all but a bona fide organ of state propaganda,” he writes, asserting that it is in step with the government’s voice, aiding in masking its activities. In making his point, Zurawik looked to a segment on Andrea Mitchell‘s show in which Axelrod joined in to talk about the sequester.

“There is a belief among some Republicans in Congress that maybe this sequester’s all right,” Axelrod said on the show. “Maybe this is another way of shrinking government in a dramatic way. That’s a dangerous idea, but it’s not uncommon in some quarters on Capitol Hill.”

Which begs the question: “What is this if not exactly the spin Team Obama seemed to be working on all week?” While the president doesn’t seem to be willing to sit down for many substantial interviews, he notes, we’re still getting his message loud and clear — through MSNBC, the “so-called news channel.”

It’s “same kind of oppositional attack-dog stuff” they did when they worked for Obama. Despite their own insistence that’s not the case: As you might recall, Gibbs told Howard Kurtz, of his new role, “I don’t see it either as being a cheerleader for the president or as a spokesman for the administration’s point of view.”

Axelrod offered a similar view.

Zurawik readily dismisses this argument: They’re both on network that “serves as TV mouthpiece for the White House.”

Barack Obama Has Already Stolen $700 Billion From Medicare

Now that Mitt Romney has chosen fiscal conservative Paul Ryan as his running mate, liberals can't wait to push the false narrative that Romney will take on Ryan's notorious budget plan and amongst other things, kill Medicare. This despite Romney already stating repeatedly that he has his own budget plan. This despite the fact that Ryan's plan does not harm Medicare...at all. This despite the fact that Barack Obama stole $700 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare. Seniors, especially, should take notice:

One of the most difficult things for Obama’s campaign team and its volunteer auxiliaries in the media to cope with, since the announcement of Paul Ryan as the Republican vice presidential candidate, has been Obama’s looting of $700 billion from Medicare to finance ObamaCare.  It’s an objective fact that this transfer of funding took place, but since they desperately want to caricature Ryan as the Slayer of Grannies, they can’t process it.  As Mitt Romney put it on 60 Minutes during an appearance with Ryan last weekend, “There’s only one president that I know if in history that robbed Medicare, $716 billion to pay for a new risky program of his own that we call ObamaCare.”

Rich Lowry of National Review short-circuited Rachel Maddow of MSNBC by simply asking her if she agreed with Obama’s Medicare cash grab:


But the real fun came when Obama’s deputy campaign manager, documented liar Stephanie “I Never Heard of Joe Soptic” Cutter, boasted of the President’s achievement in cutting $700 billion from Medicare on CBS News’ Face the Nation… 


… prompting senior Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod to call Cutter a liar the following morning. 


Of course, Obama’s feral campaign isn’t much concerned with the nuances of truth and logic, but it’s still interesting to note that they apparently haven’t developed anything like a coordinated response to a question they had to know they would be asked.  It probably would have come up even if Ryan wasn’t the Republican vice-presidential candidate, but it was a lead-pipe cinch now that he’s on the ticket, and “Medi-Scare” once again fills the air.

Video: David Axelrod Makes The Case For Mitt Romney

A great rapid response effort by the Mitt Romney team on this one … In an interview on Fox News Sunday this morning, David Axelrod said the 2012 election will come down to a choice: Do Americans want “an economy that produces a growing middle class and gives people a chance to get ahead and their kids a chance to get ahead?” Or do they want to continue down “the road we’re on”?


The Romney camp quickly clipped the interview and uploaded the relevant soundbite as a YouTube video — then tweeted it out.


Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul wrote quickly, “@davidaxelrod’s right: choice IS btwn growing economy vs continuing down down [sic] road we’re on.”


Romney’s digital director, Zac Moffatt, tweeted along the same lines. “VIDEO: Did @davidaxelrod endorsed [sic] @Mittromney this morning? Sounded like it.”


Moffatt added the hashtag #Axelrod4Romney, a clever little addition.


The idea was rapidly picked up by Congressman Darrell Issa, Erick Erickson and others.


Don’t you just know David Axelrod is kicking himself right now?

Hypocrite Obama Communications Director David Axelrod: Bill Maher Doesn’t Play Same Role As GOP ‘De Facto Boss’ Rush Limbaugh

To think this is CNN, of all places, pointing out liberal hypocrisy:

On Thursday, CNN’s Erin Burnett spoke with David Axelrod, the communications director for President Obama’s re-election campaign, about his recently-canceled plans to appear on controversial host Bill Maher‘s HBO program.


Burnett brought up Axelrod’s condemnation of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh for having called Georgetown student and activist Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” — a condemnation that proved problematic in light of his decision to appear on Maher’s show given the comedian’s own history of referring to women — mainly, but not solely, conservative women in the public eye, like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann — by derogatory names.


Burnett then asked Axelrod if Maher’s recent million dollar donation to a pro-Obama Super PAC should be returned in light of his comments.


Well, first of all, let me say there’s been a coarsening of our political culture. I don’t think that language is appropriate, no matter who uses it. And I think whoever you are in politics, you ought to be willing to say so. I was disappointed that Governor Romney didn’t stand up more forcefully when Rush Limbaugh said what he said.


But understand that these words that Maher has used in his standup act are a little bit different than — not excusable in any way — but different than a guy with 23 million radio listeners using his broadcast platform to malign a young woman for speaking her mind in the most inappropriate, grotesque ways.


Nor does Bill Maher play the role in the Democratic party that Rush Limbaugh plays in the Republican party, where he’s really the de facto boss of the party. Everybody responds to him, which is the reason why I think Governor Romney was afraid to take him on.


When Burnett noted that, as a public figure herself, she wouldn’t appreciate being called a “c-word” by anyone, Axelrod reiterated that he isn’t trying to “excuse” anyone.


“I do not excuse those kinds of characterizations of women,” he said. “I don’t think those kind of gratuitous, nasty words — about anyone — is appropriate in the public sphere. I’m not excusing anyone. But I think what– what Limbaugh did was was particularly egregious. And it wasn’t just once. He built on it and built on it to the point where he built into a sort of perverse soliloquy at the end about, you know, whether she post her…. relationships online.”


“I can respect that,” replied Burnett, agreeing that Limbaugh’s comments about Fluke had been “disgusting.”


As for the whether the Priorities USA Super PAC should or will return Maher’s hefty donation, Axelrod stressed that it would be illegal of him to become involved in the group’s decisions, but “as a general rule, I don’t think those words belong in the public space.”


Later, Burnett reported that Maher’s contribution makes up 15 percent of the Super PAC’s total contributions since it was established.


CNN contributor John Avlon described Axelrod’s response as a “dodge,” noting that a pervading problem in politics is people’s willingness to defend those on “their side,” while condemning those on the other for the same or similar actions.

Bob Schieffer To David Axelrod On Downgrade: ‘Are You Saying The President Bears No Responsibility?’

Shocking:

Don’t count on President Obama’s campaign advisor David Axelrod being eager to return to Face the Nation anytime soon. First Bob Schieffer persistently wondered why Obama should be re-elected when the economic situation is “worse” today than it was when Obama first took office. And later in the same interview, Schieffer refuses to let Axelrod blame Republicans for being the sole cause of the S&P downgrade.


After Axelrod attempted to argue that it was Republican brinkmanship and a refusal to compromise that resulted in the S&P decision, Schieffer asked in a state of a shock, “are you saying that the President bears no responsibility for this, that this was all the fault of the other side?” Axelrod, getting visibly frustrated replied:


“Listen Bob what I’m saying is review the history of what happened here . . . this is essentially a Tea Party downgrade. The Tea Party brought us to the brink of a default.”


Yet Schieffer was not impressed with Axelrod’s attempt to label it a “Tea Party Downgrade” and to switch topics to how all the potential Republican presidential candidates failed to endorse any type of debt compromise. Instead Schieffer corrected Axelrod, reminding him that actually Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman did publicly support a compromise.

David Axelrod: Alvin Greene Doesn’t Appear To Be “Legitimate”

It’s probably safe to say that South Carolina Senate Dem primary winner Alvin Greene will not be hearing from anonymous senior administration officials out to offer him a cushy job in exchange for him dropping out of the race. Instead, I imagine the White House (and many others) are hoping the press will do their dirty work and solve the strange mystery of how Greene — a totally unfunded, unknown — won the SC primary last week.

When asked this morning on Meet the Press whether he thought Greene was a “legitimate candidate” David Axelrod did not pull many punches.

It’s doesn’t appear so to me. It’s a mysterious deal, he didn’t campaign, the whole thing is odd, and I don’t really know how to explain it. I don’t think anyone else does either….I think the Democrats of South Carolina deserve a strong, credible candidate, and I guess he would argue he won 60% of the primary so that would be him. How he won the primary is a big mystery though, and until you resolve that I don’t think he can claim to be a strong, credible candidate. 

They just don't know what to do with this guy, be extremely funny if he did turn out to be a plant, like Democrats don't have enough to worry about.

No, Axelrod didn't actually use the b-word, but there's no doubt that's what he meant when he was asked on an NPR quiz show if he had helped the Obama's their recently acquired dog:

“I was only called in for the final three, and one was Miss California.”

This is the Senior Advisor to Barack Obama smearing a woman for expressing the same views on marriage that Barry has. David Axelrod is a disgrace and should resign.
