Why He's The Conservative of the Week: for refusing to toe the Hollywood-Left line and back away from comments he made (that were caught on tape) harshly criticizing Barack Obama's tax policies.

Lovitz, a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member and Democrat who voted for Barry in 2008, caused double takes with a profanity-laced rant against Obama during a show: “The rich don’t pay their taxes? Let me tell you something, right. First they tell you — you’re dead broke — this is the United States of America, you can do anything you want, go for it. So then you go for it, and then you make it, and everyone’s like, f**k you.”

But instead of backing down, Lovitz double downed on his comments this past Tuesday night during an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan. “Yes, I did mean what I said,” said Lovitz. “I believed in him, I agreed with everything he was saying when he ran for president, I was listening to what he said, I thought this guy thinks like me and I agree with him. And now he’s changing.”

“This whole idea of this 1 percent versus the 99 percent, it’s a false static,” said Lovitz, adding that Obama was “creating a false class warfare” with his policies and rhetoric. Woah! Lovitz later went on FOX with the same complaints, showing guts in a world where most Hollywood actors lean Left and wouldn't dare to openly criticize The One.

Why He's The Conservative Of The Week: for sticking to his values and refusing do sex scenes on a TV series. The Catholic family man was let go from his role on the ABC series "Scoundrels" this past week for refusing to engage in heated love scenes with his co-star Virginia Madsen. McDonough's faith is so important to him that he passed up a reported $1million payday to continue working on the show. An actor with morals in Hollyweird? A very rare gem indeed.

President Bush: Conservative of the Week

Age: 62

Claim To Fame: 43rd President of the United States

Why He’s Conservative of the Week: for finally getting back at a media that’s placed all the blame on him for the response to Hurricane Katrina. In his final news conference Bush, rightfully, got agitated at a reporter’s question concerning the time of the government’s response: "Don't tell me the federal response was slow when there was 30,000 people pulled off roofs" not long after the hurricane passed over the Gulf Coast. While the President went on to admit that there were some things he could’ve done differently, this was the first time Bush told his side of the story on Katrina.

Of course, Bush could’ve also mentioned he himself pleaded with then-Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin to evacuate the city before the storm hit, but Blanco and Nagin (who were feuding at the time) didn’t want to “federalize” the disaster. Or that in the days leading up to Hurricane Katrina, Nagin didn’t use hundreds of buses that were sitting in bus yards, some less than a mile from the Superdome, to evacuate citizens who were too poor to make their way out of the city. Or that the inept leadership of Nagin and Blanco (who got so much heat from her handling of Katrina that she chose not to run for re-election in ’06) was also displayed when they failed to implement the city's evacuation plan, and then directed residents to emergency shelters without food, water, sanitation or security provided. But why do all of that when a media that despises you will continue to spin the response to Katrina how they want it so the blame all falls solely on your shoulders anyway?

Ruben Diaz Sr.: Conservative of the Week

Why He's Conservative of the Week: for his refusal to back any Democrat candidate who will allow an initiative on gay marriage onto the floor of the State Senate. Senator Diaz Sr. who also happens to be a Pentecostal minister, is threatening (along with fellow Assemblymen Carl Krueger and Pedro Espada Jr.) to caucus with NY Republicans on the issue if current liberal Democrat minority leader Malcolm Smith brings it to the floor as Smith has said he will do.

With gay marriage having just been approved in neighboring Connecticut and with a governor who has publicly supported it, liberals are now trying to get New York to become the first state to approve gay marriage without court intervention. However, Diaz's intention is to try to take the issue out of the hands of state lawmakers by turning the matter into a ballot initiative and putting marriage equality rights to a popular vote. In all likelihood (as seen with last week's measures in California, Florida and Arizona) a popular vote would deny gay marriage being allowed in the state and open a window for marriage to be defined as only for a man and woman. Props to Ruben Diaz Sr. for taking on such a strong, moral stance.

Why He's Conservative of the Week: for biting a Reuters news reporter earlier this week. Apparently well aware of how unfair the Obama media has been towards his owner and with only two months left before he has to depart the friendly confines of the White House for good, little Barney decided it was a good time to get a little revenge while out on a walk. No word yet surrounding rumors that Barney may've mistook Jon Decker for Chris Matthews.

Joe Perry: Conservative of the Week

Why He's Conservative of the Week: for coming out and publicly supporting John McCain for president. In the entertainment world, announcing that you're a Republican can literally put the kibosh on your career. Thus, while liberal entertainers can shout their political views to the rafters, conservative celebrities can, at most, whisper theirs for fear of retribution from the leftist higher-ups who control most of the industry. However, for Perry, announcing his GOP allegiance was simply a matter of principle, national security and his country's current economic woes. And as he told The Boston Herald, "Seeing so many people come out for [BARACK] OBAMA, I just felt like... I might as well raise my hand for this side." Responding to criticisms of McCain's age, he adds, "My mother's in her 80s and she does aerobics... That doesn't bother me."

Conservative Democrat Travis Childers Takes Key Mississippi Race

Travis Childers is my kind of guy: pro-life, against reckless spending, serious about tackling illegal immigration and anti-gay marriage. Yes folks, conservative Democrats are alive, well and can make a difference in this country:

JACKSON, MISS. -- Mississippi Democrat Travis W. Childers won a special election to Congress on Tuesday, helping his party to a third victory this year for seats that had long been in Republican hands.

The victory puts Childers into the House seat vacated by Roger Wicker, a Republican appointed to the U.S. Senate when Trent Lott resigned. The win also gives the Democrats a 236-199 majority in the House -- if only for a few months, until November's general elections.

With 99% of the precincts reporting, Childers had 54% to Republican Greg Davis' 46%. Earlier this year, Democrats captured the Illinois district long represented by former Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, who resigned.

And earlier this month, Democrats claimed a Louisiana seat that Republican Rep. Richard H. Baker had relinquished.

Why She's Person of the Week: For helping the Suffolk County, New York Computer Crimes Unit catch four sexual predators prowling online this week in search of underage victims.

Nelson, the reigning Miss America, and the cops put together a fake profile and uploaded her own photos as a teen. After she went online, Nelson was approached by the men to have sex. She then lured them to a house rigged with cameras where they were greeted by "America's Most Wanted" host John Walsh. Seven more men, who did not show up at the house, but engaged in sexually explicit chatter with Nelson, surrendered this past Wednesday. The "AMW" with Nelson will air this Sunday.

Nelson, whose platform issue is Internet safety for children, said she was eager to participate in the sting and draw attention to the dangers of the Internet. "As many as we caught on that day, there are a lot more out there," she said. "It's nice to know that they were chatting with police officers and me rather than a 14- or 15-year-old girl."

Why is he Person of the Week? For the continual success of his anti-gun initiative, that is, going after out-of-state gun dealers who sell guns illegally, the same illegal guns that trade hands and often come up in major crimes around the nation, especially in larger cities like New York (which also shows an unusually, um, national-minded thinking from a city mayor).

Not only has Bloomberg garnered huge support from city mayors all around the country for his anti-gun initiave, but once again showing how serious he is about his crackdown on illegal guns, on Thursday the Bloomberg administration announced new federal lawsuits against gun dealers in 5 states including Pennsylvania and Ohio. Fifteen other in these states had been sued by Bloomberg back in May, with six having settled and three being monitored by a court-appointed overseer.

Bloomberg, a strong proponent for gun control, has more than held his own backing up one major issue of his administration that he made in his second inaugural address. "No other city or state has ever achieved such an agreement," said the mayor upon his latest success. "It truly represents a major step forward in our fight against illegal weapons." All this despite the fact that most of the beneficiaries of his donations to Congressional candidates have been opponents of gun control.
