Megyn Kelly Interviews Mike Huckabee: "I Wasn't Disparaging Women I Was Trashing Phony War on Women"

Fox News host Mike Huckabee sat down with colleague Megyn Kelly on Friday to clear the air about his controversial comments on birth control, saying that he was saying nothing disparaging about women or access to birth control, and was simply going after what he called the canard of the “war on women” Democrats have been going on about for years.

Kelly grilled Huckabee a little, bringing up criticisms that he completely misrepresented the Democratic position that people need birth control for medical issues and so they can be responsible. Huckabee made it clear that he’s not opposed to giving women access to birth control, “it was about Democrats and this phony war on women that they have pretended Republicans have.”

Kelly brought up a number of health reasons why women need birth control, and told Huckabee people just don’t like the insinuation birth control means someone is “controlling” women’s bodies. Huckabee insisted he was not trying to put down women, because he believes they’re “equals to men,” and he took a shot at the reporters who “tried to reduce this entire issue to a tweet.”

Since the Far-Left started their ass-backwards "War on Women" campaign to impugn Mitt Romney, the GOP presidential has pulled even with female voters in the polls. In other words, women aren't that stupid and like most liberal, Hollywood actresses Lena Dunham is an idiot:

The other day, a study came out suggesting that the advertising being released by President Obama's re-election team is actually having the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of firing up his former 2008 voters to cast their ballots again for him, the ads that Obama's people are putting out are actually firing up former John McCain voters to turn out against Obama.

It's tough to argue with that conclusion after having viewed the campaign's latest spot, a dopey attempt at humor  featuring little-known hipster actress Lena Dunham comparing voting for Obama to having sex.

"Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You wanna do it with a great guy," Dunham begins. "It should be with a guy with beautiful--someone who really cares and understands women. A guy who cares whether you get health insurance, specifically whether you get birth control."

Naturally, she does not state that the birth control will be paid for by other people, regardless of whether or not they have religious objections to it. No mention also that religious hospitals and charity organizations who insure their own employees are going to have to actually pay for their employees to have abortions.

"You wanna do it with a guy who brought the troops out of Iraq," Dunham adds later, echoing a previous idiot celebrity ad put out by the Obama camp starring the ever-irritating Sarah Jessica Parker.

The ad is below. Watch it if you have the stomach to listen to a nauseating spiel from the creator of the awful HBO show Girls as she patronizes young women voters.

Yeah, because a woman can't possibly be pro-life or for less government or for traditional family values or for self-responsibility or be for the host of other reasons millions of women in this country label themselves "conservative". What an idiot, any wonder Tony Parker had the good sense to recently leave and divorce this egomaniac.

Eva Longoria, a national co-chair of President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, can't imagine why a woman would pull the lever for a Republican. 

“I don’t think it’s a hard choice if you’re a woman,” said Longoria during an Obama campaign event in Colorado over the weekend, according to The Denver Post.  “We have to get out there and tell (others) ‘If you’re a woman, there is no way you can vote Republican.’”

Outside of the venue where Longoria spoke, the "Desperate Housewives" star was greeted by women who do vote Republican.They were clad in Mitt Romney T-shirts. 

Suzie Terrell who co-chairs She-PAC, a group that supports conservative women running for elected office and whose clout is increasing, could not disagree more with Longoria. 

Terrell told Breitbart News that “Longoria is off the mark” and her “comments underscore the desperate, unfounded remarks the Democrats have to make because they have nothing of substance to offer women.”

“Women will decide this election, and they are smart enough and concerned enough to know that future generations are at risk because of the failed policies of the Obama administration: healthcare policy that adds to debt, joblessness that adds to debt, foreign policy that scares our allies, and overall disrespect for the constitution of our country,” Terrell said. “To assure a better future, women must vote Republican.”

Last month, the Obama campaign tried to sell women — especially younger, single women — a life of government dependency in its unwittingly Orwellian “Life of Julia.”  Even women inclined to support Barack Obama objected to the characterization of women as wards of the state.  Polling results two weeks later showed that Obama lost significant ground among the demographics he had hoped to improve, and ever since, the Obama campaign has apparently relegated the eyeless, mouthless “Julia” to the Island of Misfit Campaign Mascots.

That doesn’t mean that critics have forgotten “Julia,” though.  A new video from the Center for Freedom and Prosperity features  Emily O’Neill, who accurately deconstructs the message from Team Obama within the first minute, with devastating impact.  Emily then proposes an alternate reality, called “The Life of Emily,” which relies on hard work, good economic choices, and rejects the need for a Hubby State for young American women — such as herself:

But we also need a serious discussion of why dependency is a bad thing, which is why I’m glad the Center for Freedom and Prosperity has produced this new “Economics 101″ video.

It’s narrated by Emily O’Neill, who contrasts the moocher mentality of Julia with how she wants her life to develop. To give away the message, she wants the kind of fulfillment that only exists when you earn things.

Emily’s view could be considered Randian libertarianism, conventional conservatism, or both. That’s because there’s a common moral belief in both philosophies that government-imposed coercion and redistribution erode the social capital of a people.

Women have a choice, as Emily demonstrates, at least for the moment.  They can aspire to become Julia the Moocher or Emily the Empowered.  Which message do you think will sell better over the next five months, and which offers the kind of paternalistic attitude that represents the antithesis of the women’s movement?
