Robert Redford, Environmental Hypocrite?

Noteviljustwrong.com:
Redford is one of the main opponents of a plan by the Pacific Union College to build an eco-village in Angwin California. The college says it needs the funds because of a dire financial situation. The village is close to Redford’s vineyard in the Napa Valley. However whilst publicly opposing this development “to preserve the rural heritage” Redford has been quietly selling development lots in the Sundance Preserve for $2 million. These lots are intended for vacation homes close to Redford’s Sundance Ski Resort.

The double standard is revealed in a short film Robert Redford Hypocrite which has just been released.

Film director Ann McElhinney said the film is not criticising Redford for selling his property.

"It is great that in a recession Mr Redford can find so many buyers. I am delighted that those houses will be built, creating jobs and vitality in a remote area but it is shocking that Mr Redford would deny others similar opportunities to make a profit and create jobs."

The film’s co-director Phelim McAleer said the film was highlighting the double standards of so many celebrities and environmentalists. "This is just another example of environmental elites telling the rest of us how and where we must live and what we are not allowed to do, but thinking that those rules don’t apply to themselves. Robert Redford has shown himself to be a hypocrite - plain and simple," said McAleer.

The film - released on YouTube - also shows how Redford has campaigned against "dirty fuels" and wants to end the use of oil whilst promoting flying by doing lucrative voice overs for a series of United Airlines commercials.

"Again Robert Redford has shown he has an appalling double standard. The rest of us must stop flying because of the environment but these restrictions don’t apply to him. He is somehow different," said McElhinney.

Robert Redford Hypocrite was produced and directed by Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer. They previously produced Not Evil Just Wrong, a documentary which took a sceptical look at Global Warming hysteria. The duo also recently produced James Cameron Hypocrite which looks at the double standards of Avatar director James Cameron.

Even Robert Redford Thinks Al Gore Is Full Of Shit

Geez, just a couple of weeks ago I nominated this guy for Insane Liberal of the Week, and now he goes off railing against the Goracle. Wonder if Redford reads this blog?

Redford was an early convert to the environmental movement, and talks proudly of having campaigned on it since 1969. "It was not a happy easy time, because those were the days that the oil and gas companies pretty much controlled the show on propaganda. Anyone speaking about solar energy would be smashed down as being a radical, a tree-hugger and granola-cruncher or what have you."

He is notably cynical, however, about Al Gore's recent award of a Nobel Peace Prize. "He's making a lot of money, he's having a belle époque, a heroic moment," he says. "It must have been really hard for Gore to suffer all that [losing the presidential election], so he found another thing to come back with: the environment. He had a lot of money behind him, because in Clinton's administration there was a lot of money. With that he was able to build himself a new campaign and pick an issue. And he picked an issue that just happened to arrive at its moment in time." The less-than-subtle subtext is that Gore is an arriviste, while Redford has been out there, a grizzled loner, bearing the jibes and right-wing clobbering before the environmental cause was fashionable. Asked why he thinks Gore is not going back into politics, he says: "What's most important - to be a hero to your country and go save it . . . or do you want to be happy and rich and be a hero and not get into the political scene?"

Hmmm.....the Goracle, an opportunist? Nah, it just can't be true.

Robert Redford: Insane Liberal of the Week

Age: 71

Birthplace: Santa Monica, CA

Claim To Fame: actor, director and founder of the Sundance Film Festival

Why He’s Insane Liberal of the Week: for using his new film, “Lion for Lambs” to promote anti-Bush, anti-American, left-wing zealotry. In “Lambs” Redford, a longtime Hollywood liberal whose made his fortune here in America, plays a college professor trying to motivate a politically ambivalent student in a flick loaded with typical leftist clichés including an “evil Republican” senator (played by Tom Cruise) with plans to bomb Afghanistan. Yet, despite its star power (Meryl Streep also appears as a cynical liberal news journalist) “Lion for Lambs” has been reviewed by many as so lame and lopsided that it seems destined to bomb just like recent leftist drivel “Rendition” and “In The Valley Of Elah” did. Indeed, the Sundance Kid (who if I recall correctly reneged on his promise to move to Ireland if Bush was elected) is probably too busy flying in one of his high-priced jets to realize that movie goers have long tired of films drenched in idiot liberal propoganda.
