MSNBC’s Most Embarrassing Mockery of Mitt Romney’s Russia Warnings

The smug self-assuredness that often suffices for expertise on cable news was perhaps never more smug than when former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney warned the American public that Russia was rapidly positioning itself as America’s “number one geopolitical foe.” Among the worst offenders were the hosts and guests who provide MSNBC with content on a daily basis. 

In early 2012, President Barack Obama was caught on an open microphone telling Russia’s then-President Dmitry Medvedev that he would have more “flexibility” after the presidential election in his dealings with Russia. Romney reacted strongly to that comment. Appearing on CNN, the GOP nominee said that the United States should regard Russia as a geopolitical adversary and should work to limit Russia’s flexibility rather than to secure it. His observation was soundly criticized by the president’s defenders who, at the time, were still attempting to rehabilitate Obama’s floundering “Reset” with Russia. 

There were few who defended Romney’s comments. Even snake-bit Republicans, chastened by the swift backlash in the media, hedged when asked to back up Romney’s assessment of the challenges posed by Moscow. But MSNBC’s wagons circled particularly quickly in defense of the president. Volley after volley of snark was lobbed in the GOP nominee’s direction.

“I don’t know what decade this guy’s living in,” MSNBC host Chris Matthews said with a sigh on March 28, 2012. “Is he trying to play Ronald Reagan here, or what?”

“This is Mitt Romney’s severely conservative problem,” University of Georgia professor Cynthia Tucker opined on-the-air. “It made Romney look dumb. He’s not a dumb man, but he said something that was clearly dumb.”

Huffington Post reporter Sam Stein agreed that Romney’s statement was evidence of an “antiquated worldview.” He fretted further about how Romney, should he become president, would enter the office having severely complicated America’s bilateral relations with Moscow given his carelessly provocative statement. 

“I personally am worried about what it says to the Russian people,” Matthews added to a chorus of sagely nods.

MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell got in on the self-satisfied ridicule, too. 

 Promoting Maddow’s latest book about the “unmooring of American military power,” O’Donnell asked the flagship MSNBC host if Romney was merely reflecting on what he might have read in that book. 

“He read about Reagan’s private, outside-the-CIA cabal of team-B zealots who were telling him that Russia had all the stuff they didn’t have so he could justify a giant defense budget,” Maddow submitted scornfully. 

“It is amazing that Mitt Romney can flip like that just as soon as he hears something to exploit in foreign policy,” O’Donnell remarked.

Maddow took her observations about Romney’s position on Russia one ill-advised step further on her MSNBC.com blog:

I can appreciate why the Romney campaign would try to make Obama’s “hot mic” story interesting, but the problem is the former governor just doesn’t have any real policy chops in this area. He’s out of his depth, and struggles when the subject takes center stage.
It’s not just that Romney is uninformed; it’s that he hasn’t figured out how to fake it.

Appearing on Andrea Mitchell Reports in April of that year, Romney surrogate and former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour was confronted by the MSNBC anchor. Calling Romney’s comments “a throwback to the Cold War,” Mitchell insisted that “we work with Russia all the time.” “Hardly an ally but certainly not an adversary,” she declared.

But the worst offender was one who should have, and likely did, know better, former Secretary of State Colin Powell. The former Army general greatly entertained his MSNBC hosts with some of the most snide commentary about Romney’s observation. 

“Come on, Mitt. Think,” Powell said of Romney’s remark in May to the chuckles of host Joe Scarborough. “That isn’t the case.” 

He went on to suggest that Romney’s assessment of the threat posed by Russia was so dubious that it was possible he was being disingenuous or he was coached to make that statement.

Alec Baldwin Lashes Out at MSNBC: Calls Rachel Maddow a ‘Phony’

Even if the guy has an axe to grind, I'm just glad that someone in the public spotlight finally displays the guts to not kiss Rachel Maddow's royal ass:

“I haven’t changed, but public life has,” State and Main star Alec Baldwin wrote (or rather told to Joe Hogan) in this week’s New York cover story in which the embattled Baldwin officially bid adieu to the profiled life.

Baldwin had a nasty professional year in 2013, featuring several incidents in which he was accused of using homophobic slurs (Baldwin disputes these in the piece), and getting an MSNBC talk show (which he claims he never wanted) that barely made it out of the starting gate.

Baldwin said those incidents have taken their toll, and he exited the spotlight Monday morning with a middle finger for many of his past employers, especially MSNBC. There’s also a lot about Shia LaBeouf, another celebrity who’s experienced some well-broadcasted troubles.

Les highlights:

On MSNBC: “It turned out to be the same shit all day long. The only difference was who was actually pulling off whatever act they had come up with. Morning Joe was boring. Scarborough is neither eloquent nor funny. And merely cranky doesn’t always work well in the morning. Mika B. is the Margaret Dumont of cable news…The problem with everybody on MSNBC is none of them are funny, although that doesn’t prevent them from trying to be.”

On Phil Griffin: “All he wanted to talk about was Giants tickets, Super Bowl tickets, restaurants, movies. The conversations about the set, about the physical production of the show, cameras, lighting—it seemed like he wanted to get those over with as quickly as possible. He didn’t care. He had four monitors on the wall. They were all on, muted. He never listened to them. He never watched them.”

On Maddow: “I think Rachel Maddow is quite good at what she does. I also think she’s a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”

On the media: “Now I loathe and despise the media in a way I did not think possible. I used to engage with the media knowing that some of it would be adversarial, but now it’s superfluous at best and toxic at its worst. If MSNBC went off the air tomorrow, what difference would it make? If the Huffington Post went out of business tomorrow, what difference would it make?”

Study Says MSNBC Coverage Almost Entirely Opinionated, While Fox News Includes More Factual Reporting

Branding everything Republican with a "racist" boogeyman, pushing through the anti-God, morally-bankrupt, white, liberal agenda and making sure blacks and Hispanics forever stay on the Democrat plantation...that's MSNBC in a nutshell:

True to its motto, MSNBC has been leaning forward. To the point that its opinionated programming far outweighs its “factual reporting,” according to a new Pew study. While Fox News, too, had more opinionated programming, the network had a much smaller discrepancy between opinion and straight reporting.

The study — which came as part of Pew Research Center’s annual “State of the Media” report — states that opinionated programming comprised 85 percent of MSNBC’s airtime (versus 15 percent of “factual reporting”). Meanwhile, Fox News had opinion 55 percent of the time, with 45 percent straight news.

Of the three cable networks, CNN was the only one where reporting dominated commentary, with 54 percent straight coverage. Since 2007, the study notes that while the networks used to rely “on significantly distinct formats five years ago, the three rivals now look strikingly similar.” 

To compile the report, Pew looked at a half-hour of weekday daytime programming for the first five months of 2007 and 2012, and the first 30 minutes of “general-news focused” evening programs. They “analyzed 6,472 stories over the course of 267 hours of cable programming.”

Black Liberals Bowing Down To The Altar of Rachel Maddow

Since Barack Obama became President he has gone out of his way to help garner "civil rights" for people who engage in same-sex behavior and illegal immigrants. During that same time Black unemployment has increased, as has crime, teenage pregnancy in the urban community and the percentage of blacks in prison. These facts haven't stopped blacks from not only assisting greatly in Obama getting re-elected, but watching MSNBC, the countries best, race-baiting channel designed to  lock Blacks down on a Democrat plantation that no longer cares about the needs of black people:

2012 was a very good year for cable news, with a presidential election that generated huge public interest, and a brightly-lit media landscape that cranked out content to a voracious audience. While Fox News remained the number one cable news network, and CNN performed well on breaking news stories, MSNBC had a lot to brag about in 2012. The network enjoyed significant (around 20%) ratings increases across the board, but made astonishing gains with their already-large African American audience, growing that audience by 60.5% for the Mon-Sun 8pm-11pm period. MSNBC President Phil Griffin told me, in a phone interview, that he is “thrilled” with that result, and that it “says a lot about what we’ve been doing over the last few years.”

In that same time period, CNN grew its black audience by 23.7%(from 131,000 in 2011 to 162,000 in 2012, 23.9% of their total audience) , while Fox News’ declined by 23.7% (38,000 in 2011 to 29,000 in 2012, 1.4% of their total audience), but MSNBC had more black viewers than both of those nets combined (from 177,000 in 2011 to 284,000 in 2012, 31.4% of their total audience). What’s more impressive is that MSNBC attained 60% growth after being number one in that demographic last year, and the year before.

“This has been steady growth for us for some time,” Griffin noted. “I think we made a commitment, we decided, that in order for this channel to succeed, that we had to reflect the country. This meant that we had to be part of the country in ways that the other channels weren’t.”

Part of that commitment, according to Griffin, is the “look” of the channel. ”We have a diverse on-air group of people,” Griffin said, “because that matters, and people want to know that we reflect their world. And it’s not just a single show – its across the board. You look at the guests every hour and we make sure that we have women, African Americans, everything, and I think to spend a day watching MSNBC is to see America as we have seen it.”

That diverse array of talent, including hosts like Tamron Hall, Touré, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Rev. Al Sharpton, and ubiquitous contributors like Joy Reid, Goldie Taylor, Karen Finney, Prof. Michael Erik Dyson, Chairman Michael Steele, Eugene Robinson, and Jonathan Capehart, is an organic result of the network’s editorial philosophy, rather than an end unto itself, says Griffin.

“It wasn’t like we said ‘Oh, we have to have a diverse person on here and there,’” he said. “We made a decision. We made a commitment in ideas, issues and everything – the audience followed, and that goes back to four or five years ago. As we grew, we recognized that it was the right thing to do. It’s giving a voice to people in these kinds of programs who don’t always get a voice. Our look is as diverse as any on mainstream TV. I’m incredibly proud of it. It’s not like we decided ‘We’re going to increase our African American viewership by 60%,’ but I’m thrilled that it happened, and it says a lot about what we’ve been doing over the last few years.”

2012 was also a year in which race played a central part in some huge news stories, and MSNBC was instrumental in putting them on the public’s radar.

Barack Obama Has Already Stolen $700 Billion From Medicare

Now that Mitt Romney has chosen fiscal conservative Paul Ryan as his running mate, liberals can't wait to push the false narrative that Romney will take on Ryan's notorious budget plan and amongst other things, kill Medicare. This despite Romney already stating repeatedly that he has his own budget plan. This despite the fact that Ryan's plan does not harm Medicare...at all. This despite the fact that Barack Obama stole $700 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare. Seniors, especially, should take notice:

One of the most difficult things for Obama’s campaign team and its volunteer auxiliaries in the media to cope with, since the announcement of Paul Ryan as the Republican vice presidential candidate, has been Obama’s looting of $700 billion from Medicare to finance ObamaCare.  It’s an objective fact that this transfer of funding took place, but since they desperately want to caricature Ryan as the Slayer of Grannies, they can’t process it.  As Mitt Romney put it on 60 Minutes during an appearance with Ryan last weekend, “There’s only one president that I know if in history that robbed Medicare, $716 billion to pay for a new risky program of his own that we call ObamaCare.”

Rich Lowry of National Review short-circuited Rachel Maddow of MSNBC by simply asking her if she agreed with Obama’s Medicare cash grab:


But the real fun came when Obama’s deputy campaign manager, documented liar Stephanie “I Never Heard of Joe Soptic” Cutter, boasted of the President’s achievement in cutting $700 billion from Medicare on CBS News’ Face the Nation… 


… prompting senior Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod to call Cutter a liar the following morning. 


Of course, Obama’s feral campaign isn’t much concerned with the nuances of truth and logic, but it’s still interesting to note that they apparently haven’t developed anything like a coordinated response to a question they had to know they would be asked.  It probably would have come up even if Ryan wasn’t the Republican vice-presidential candidate, but it was a lead-pipe cinch now that he’s on the ticket, and “Medi-Scare” once again fills the air.

When you're a morally bankrupt, gay activist pretending to be journalist, this is how you react when you're cornered outside of the safe haven within the studio that's inside the offices of the failing, hack, partisan network you work for:

You don't know me, Rachel Maddow complained  -- twice -- to Reason magazine editor Nick Gillespie in her hissy fit Friday night on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher."

Yet again, Maddow gets it wrong. By the incisive questions he asked, and Maddow's reluctance to answer them, Gillespie showed he knows her all too well.

Seguing from a discussion of the Fast & Furious scandal, Gillespie condemned Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in the war on drugs --

What a shock, the opinions held by Maher and Maddow have remained frozen in amber for two decades. Saves them all that trouble of thinking things through ever again.

Maddow's "you don't even know me" defense was strange enough the first time. (A friend told me it was Maddow's version of "Don't you know who I am?!"). The second time Maddow resorted to it was outright bizarre, several minutes later during a discussion of the health care law enacted in Massachusetts while Mitt Romney was governor -- aka, Romneycare -- leading to the federal Affordable Care Act in 2010, aka, Obamacare --

Followed by that rarity from a Maher audience -- a moment of tomb-like silence as the sheer hilarity of what Maddow just claimed sank in, before Maher uttered a feeble "oh" and an audience filled with Maddow fans as shown by their boisterous applause earlier when she was introduced began belatedly cheering for her again, lest their continued awkward silence make for a YouTube video that might doom Maddow's career.
There it was again -- "You don't know anything about me" -- as if Maddow has more in common with Emily Dickinson than Joan Rivers.

As if this ambitious media climber was actually a timorous wallflower suddenly thrust into the media spotlight amid all these brutish men with their impertinent questions, over and over and over! (wave arms for emphasis).

To make matters worse, Maddow followed this with a claim that initially silenced even a partisan audience  -- "My job is to cover these things, not to tell you how I like them or not."

Which is the opposite of what Maddow does every weeknight on MSNBC, as anyone who has spent even random seconds watching her show while channel surfing is aware. The program is officially titled "The Rachel Maddow Show" but would be more accurately subtitled, "Liberal politics I like, conservative politics I loathe."

It's a formula Maddow followed at left-wing Air America Radio, then during guest spots and filling in for former MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann, and when she was given her own cable show three years ago.

Maddow doesn't limit herself to opining there, but also does so in venues such as, ahem, the Maher show, regular appearances on "Meet the Press," her Twitter feed, chummy chats with David Letterman and Jay Leno, her book that was published this year, "Drift," and frequent fawning interviews in the media.

Maddow does not remain so engaged to tell us the news, which was invariably reported long before she got to it. She lives and breathes to opine on this, that and everything else -- and denying it shows that Maddow knows less about herself than does her new acquaintance, Nick Gillespie.

Rachel Maddow LIES Again: PolitiFact Whacks Her Again, This Time on Rick Perry Tax Plan

Rachel Maddow's "devotion" to the facts "borders on obsessive" proclaimed an MSNBC promo last winter that could have been produced by The Onion.


A dubious Maddow claim that didn't quite reach that level of obsession has caught the attention of PolitiFact Texas, part of a fact-checking project that originated with the St. Petersburg Times and won the Pulitzer Prize in 2009.


On her show Oct. 25, Maddow said this about Texas Gov. Rick Perry's newly-released tax plan --


So, tanking Rick Perry has now come up with his own version of a flat tax that accomplishes the same goal of huge tax cuts for rich people and big tax hikes for everyone else.


PolitiFact's W. Gardner Selby, a veteran reporter who began covering politics in Texas nearly 30 years ago, wrote yesterday why he rated Maddow's claim "mostly false" on the PolitiFact "Truth-O-Meter" that ranges from "True" to "Pants on Fire."


His thorough evaluation included responses from Maddow spokeswoman Lauren Skowronski, criticism of the Perry plan from a Treasury official in President George H.W. Bush's administration, a "preliminary look" at the plan from an expert at the Tax Policy Center, followed by Selby citing from a more detailed analysis by the center.


In conclusion, Selby wrote --


Nearly all of the nation's wealthiest residents would see tax cuts if Perry's plan became law, in keeping with Maddow's claim. Will they be huge? That's an eye-of-the-beholder question, but some could be sizable by any definition.


Some other Americans -- including 45 percent of residents earning $19,343 to $39,862 -- also would see tax cuts, a projection suggesting that does not support the claim that the plan means big tax increases for everyone but the wealthy. Perry's plan allows every taxpayer to continue under the current system. No one would pay more unless he or she chooses the flat tax against their financial self-interest.


Maddow's statement, leaving the incorrect impression that Perry's tax plan hugely benefits the rich while everyone else pays more, rates Mostly False.


Back in February, in the middle of a contentious battle over public-sector unions in Wisconsin, PolitiFact took Maddow to task for her flat-out false claim that Wisconsin was on track for a budget surplus.


This marks the 15th time that Maddow's claims have crossed PolitiFact's radar. Of these, four were rated false, three as mostly false, three as half true, four as mostly true and one as true. None were deemed deserving of the lowly "pants-on-fire" designation.

Somebody should alert Maddow's No. 1 fan, Stanley Crouch, about this because this is getting ridiculous.

Closet Racist Rachel Maddow Describes Obama as 'Boy King'

Of course most conservatives know already that most white liberals are closet racists:

Those crickets you hear? Her fellow left-wingers responding to Rachel Maddow referring to then-President Elect Obama as a "boy king" on her MSNBC show last night.


Yes, hard to believe. Even in an era when the president of the United States is a man of color, as is our attorney general, as is the governor of Massachusetts where Maddow lives, Obama must be subjected to such vile disrespect -- a black man at the pinnacle of achievement described as a mere "boy," albeit of the monarchical variety.


It hardly lessens the sting that this came from one of Obama's most vocal defenders in the leeward media, Maddow herself, an ardent liberal who can detect racism, real or imagined, anywhere in a 10-state radius.


Listen for yourself from the embedded video while Maddow takes off her KKK hood just long enough to commit this utter outrage (1:09 in the clip). If any children are within earshot of your computer, you may want to shield them lest they pursue a path of skepticism toward affirmative action and speech codes as a result of witnessing this crime against humanity.


That non-existent reaction from liberals after Maddow revealed she is the late George Wallace's alter ego stands in sharp contrast to the left-wing hissy fit after Rush Limbaugh had the Maddowesque gall to describe Obama as a "little boy" and "this little man-child."


At the very least, Maddow can expect a cold shoulder at the water cooler from MSNBC colleague and inveterate grievance monger Al Sharpton, who pounced on the chance to pontificate after Pat Buchanan described Obama to Sharpton as "your boy."

'Christian Metal Rocker’ Sues Rachel Maddow For $50 Million, Network Calls Suit ‘Baseless’

Hopefully this goes through and the morally bankrupt, scheming liar that is Rachel Maddow has to pay out of her pocket:

If you’re not up on your Christian metal rock, you might not know Bradlee Dean, a Christian metal rocker who also runs the You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministry. He’s also suing MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for 50 million dollars, but his lawyer says don’t get the wrong idea, “money is not the issue.” Why the lawsuit? According to a statement released by Dean’s lawyer, it all started with a segment Maddow did on Mr. Dean, which the lawyer called defamatory–and Dean’s support for Michele Bachmann. “The left wing media’s effort to defame Dean is an obvious way to try to harm Bachmann’s presidential prospects, who they fear and despise.”


MSNBC, in a statement, says the suit is “baseless…and we stand by our reporting.”


In a segment dubbed “Scary Home Companion,” Maddow mocked Dean–and aired a comment Dean made on his radio show suggesting that “Muslims are calling for the execution of homosexuals in America” in a line of thinking that seemed to suggest that if America does not deal with homosexuality, God will use a “foreign enemy” to take care of the problem:


“If America won’t enforce the laws, God will raise up a foreign enemy to do just that. That’s what you are seeing today in America.”


According to Dean’s lawyer, Dean was, you know, just talking about politics and stuff:


It was Bradlee’s intent to focus attention on the issue, not to advocate harm to anyone.


Despite the very clear disclaimer by Bradlee Dean on his ministries website and elsewhere regarding the false accusation that he was calling for the execution of homosexuals, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and others seized on and accused Dean on her show of supporting the killing of homosexuals, as is the practice in some radical Islamic countries. This seriously has harmed Dean and the ministry, who pride themselves on respect and love for all people.

Rachel Maddow Caught By Guest Liberal Lying Again

Once again, a presumably simpatico guest on "The Rachel Maddow Show" undermined a claim she made on the same show.


This occurred twice in the same week back in March, as I described at the time. It happened again Friday night when Maddow talked about Republican congressmen facing constituents angered by the GOP budget plan. Maddow compared this to the contentious public forums on health reform in August 2009.


Here's what Maddow said about the Republican budget's effect on Medicare, followed by her guest claiming something altogether different


MADDOW: Well now, a year and a half later, the same sort of thing is happening, minus the talking points and the vinyl-wrapped buses. This time, with Congress on recess, town hall events across the country are again lighting up with anger and frustration, but this time it is about the official Republican Party budget plan. The Paul Ryan budget plan, which drastically cuts taxes for the richest Americans back to what they were in the 1930s. It drastically cuts taxes for corporations. It gives billions of dollars in tax breaks to oil companies, those poor, orphaned, hard-luck oil companies. And it also, incidentally, ends Medicare, it repeals Medicare. It turns Medicare instead into a coupon system and it makes senior citizens buy private health insurance.


Which is hardly how the GOP plan for Medicare was described by Maddow's next guest, Center for American Progress senior fellow Matt Miller, a Washington Post online columnist and former Clinton administration economic adviser --


MILLER: Obama doesn't do enough, not only on the debt, but on reorienting enough of federal spending away from the elderly, which is where all the growth is in the budget. Even Paul Ryan is increasing Social Security and Medicare by something like 75 percent over the next 10 years. The entire federal budget today goes for consumption for the elderly on health care and pensions and there's less and less left for education, to recruit a new generation of teachers ...


Presumably Miller meant entire growth in the federal budget -- not the "entire federal budget" -- is spent on health care and pensions for the elderly, as he had already stated.


Miller's remarks came close to the end of a long segment, with Maddow not having time to respond. Will she address the disparity between her claim and Miller's in an upcoming show? One can only hope while also not holding one's breath.


Even though the GOP plan substantially increases funding to Medicare over the next decade -- as acknowledged by a liberal policy wonk -- the plan "ends Medicare" according to fringe leftists like Maddow because the federal government would no longer wield complete control over it.

Even tho Maddow is nothing but a lying, scheming, pseudo-journalist with a liberal agenda, is she really that comfortable when a prick like Maher puts her bias on blast like that? Then too, why would any Republican want to come on her show after hearing this:

Bill Maher Tuesday made a statement on MSNBC that would be truly embarrassing for the so-called news network if any of its executives cared at all about being an impartial disseminator of information.


At the end of an almost thirteen minute interview with Rachel Maddow, the comedian said of Republicans, "I hate them as much as you do"


As readers would expect, what preceded Maher's final assertion was his typical Republican bashing of his usual targets such as Ronald Reagan as well as the newest object of his disaffection, Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.).


This was all the predictable, GOP-hating fare that one is bludgeoned with when HBO's "Real Time" is in session. The only things out of the ordinary were the venue and the response from the host.


If Maddow wanted to preserve even the slightest appearance of impartiality and journalistic integrity, instead of laughing like a hyena when Maher said he hates Republicans as much as she does, she would have countered by stating that she just disagrees with conservative viewpoints, but doesn't hold any animosity towards those on the opposite side of the aisle.


If she had even a shred of journalistic sense in her body, Maddow would have made it clear to her audience that she doesn't hate Republicans at all.


Since she didn't, one has to conclude that Maher's right, and not only does Maddow despise a large percentage of the nation, she's also comfortable allowing it to be aired on the very "news network" she's employed by.

Bill O'Reilly, Code Pink Founder Agree: Ed Schultz and Rachel Maddow Are Hypocrites

They won't agree on much, but Fox News host Bill O'Reilly and Medea Benjamin, founder of the far-left anti-war group Code Pink, found some common ground on one fact Tuesday night: MSNBC talkers Rachel Maddow and Ed Shultz are hypocrites.


Both Schultz and Maddow defended President Obama's decision to impose a no fly zone over Libya on their respective shows. Maddow trotted out the "reluctant warrior" line, while Schultz insisted that the president "deserves the benefit of the doubt and our support."


O'Reilly asserted - and Benjamin agreed - that neither MSNBC host would have been so generous had Obama's predecessor engaged in such a conflict. "The word 'hypocrisy' comes to mind," Benjamin quipped

It's true. I can't recall any prominent conservative pundit or blogger ever going after who Rachel Maddow chooses to sleep with. None. Sure, she's a habitual liar who goes out of her way to smear FOX News and conservatives in general and yeah she looks like a dude (something she's admitted too several times on her own), but going after her choice to be a lesbian? I feel confident in saying that most conservatives could care less. So yeah, it's shocking to even me that she'd play the gay card even if it does go with the liberal doctrine to play the victim (esp. when your back is against the wall). But seriously, if Stanley's Crouch's girlfriend has to resort to making up stuff when her critics fairly call out her lies and smear tactics, then she should go back to Air America or whatever-it-is the hell she came from:

The folks at MSNBC should be deeply embarrassed and ashamed of their prime time commentator Rachel Maddow.

Having been exposed by Politifact for lying last week about Wisconsin having a budget surplus, Maddow on Thursday hypocritically defended herself by playing nine cherry-picked words from the broadcast in question while disgracefully calling her critics homophobes....

But also pathetic was Maddow playing the gay card.

During her segment Thursday, Maddow indirectly referred to an article at Johnny Dollar's website concerning herself and Fox News's Shepard Smith.

She went on to say (with a picture of JohnnyDollar.us on the screen):

MADDOW: Because this particular burst of anger is a pure right wing Internet phenomenon, if you have seen anything about this, you have probably seen it retweeted at some point as Rachel Maddow is wrong and she looks like a man. Also favorite Rachel Maddow is wrong and also gay.

You know, just because you don’t like the way it sounds when I say it or you don’t like my hair cut, or you don’t like that I’m gay, it does not mean that what we say is not true. [...]

And if you squint a little bit it is true, I do sometimes look like a dude, and I am definitely gay.

If you look at Johnny Dollar's piece or mine, you will see no references to her appearance or sexual orientation.

None.

I don't care what political commentators look like or who they choose to couple with. For Maddow to use the gay card to evoke sympathy from her viewers, as if the only reason she's being criticized is because of her appearance or sexual orientation, is disgraceful.

Rachel Maddow LIES Again: Wisconsin Budget Claims Deemed 'False' By Politifact

Considering how much praise and attention Maddow gets from the lamestream press, this is getting to be too much of a habit for people not to notice. Simply put, in her repeated rush to smear conservatives at any chance she gets and blame them for everything that's wrong with the country the woman has become a serial liar:

Rachel Maddow weighed in on the Wisconsin union protests and suggested that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was stripping unions of power primarily to weaken the Democratic party in future elections. Any crisis related to the budget, Maddow believed, was either fabricated, or only true as a result of Walker’s own tax giveaways to business. The nonpartisan website PolitiFact declared such assertions to be “false.”


Maddow informed her audience:


I’m here to report that there is nothing wrong in the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is fine. Wisconsin is great, actually. Despite what you may have heard about Wisconsin’s finances, Wisconsin is on track to have a budget surplus this year.


If Wisconsin is in great financial condition, PolitiFact suggests that the message has yet to be received by the state. Furthermore, Maddow suggested that the Governor’s recent tax breaks to businesses are now the cause of any shortfall. However, PolitiFact clears up this rumor as well, revealing that such tax cuts will increase the government’s deficit but not until next year’s budget when they actually go into effect. PolitiFact concludes, “there should be no debate on whether or not there is a shortfall. While not historically large, the shortfall in the current budget needed to be addressed in some fashion.”


Given the view of some that the future of the Democratic party might be at stake and the quickness with which this budget fight became a national story, it’s understandable for passions to be running high on both sides of the argument. Yet now with the facts unveiled, it will be interesting to see whether Maddow is willing to recalibrate her view.
