Liberal Director Oliver Stone Rips President Obama: ‘Took A Bad Situation And … Made It Worse’

It's no secret that Hollywood is 90% liberal, a cesspool of actors, directors, agents, etc. that bow down to the lily-white, unGodly, far-Left agenda. So when a noted director, well-known for his liberal views and contempt for anything conservative, comes out swinging against a Democrat president...well you know you're in some trouble:

In his new book, outspoken liberal filmmaker Oliver Stone offers some harsh criticism for President Barack Obama.

The forthcoming book titled The Untold History of the United States airs Stone and historian Peter Kuznick‘s scorn for the president acting too much like his Republican predecessor George W. Bush.
Politico published several excerpts from the book which express disgust with the Republican Party and disappointment with the Democratic president and his party.

“The country Obama inherited was indeed in shambles, but Obama took a bad situation and, in certain ways, made it worse,” the authors continue, according to Politico. “Rather than repudiating the policies of Bush and his predecessors, Obama has perpetuated them.”

Stone and Kuznick lament that the president’s attempts at reforming and regulating Wall Street have largely failed in their progressive aims: “The biggest winner under Obama was Wall Street.”

According to Politico, the authors find little to celebrate in the president’s health care reforms: “Obama’s failure to articulate a progressive vision was also apparent in the fight over health reform, which was to have been his signature initiative…Obama’s health care reform effort, marked by the inability to even refute Republican charges of death panels, was so unpopular that it became an albatross around the necks of Democrats in the 2010 election.”

The authors also criticize the president’s handling of the war in Afghanistan: “When it finally came down to decision time, Obama didn’t have the courage or integrity of a post-Cuban Missile Crisis John F. Kennedy. He settled on a 30,000-troop increase, giving the military leaders almost everything they wanted and more than they expected.”

Stone also echoes something we’ve documented several times here and here — that President Obama and the Democrats have seemingly turned their backs on their promises to reverse Bush’s civil liberties encroachments: “Among the greatest disappointments to his followers was Obama’s refusal to roll back the expanding national security state that so egregiously encroached on American civil liberties.”

The authors quip: “Obama asserted presidential power in ways that must have made Dick Cheney jealous.”

While the much of the political media is busy parsing the statements made by Mitt Romney four months ago at a closed-door fundraiser and engaging in a bit of amateur psychoanalysis in order to divine the GOP nominee’s true feelings towards Americans who pay no income tax, the actually President of the United States dismissed another large group of voters in a similarly brazen way. While appearing on a late night talk show, President Barack Obama displayed a contemptuous lack of concern for the significant number of Americans who care about runaway federal spending by saying that he was simply unaware of the record amount of federal debt.

During the president’s appearance on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday night, Obama was asked about the debt clock prominently featured at the Republican National Convention. America’s national debt exceeded $16 trillion that week – more than the nation’s GDP. Letterman asked if Obama knew the nation’s debt.

“I don’t remember what the number was precisely,” Obama replied.

To be the president, one must retain quite a lot of information. It’s a stretch, however, to believe that Obama is unaware of a figure that features prominently in Republican messaging and is the primary reason why Moody’s credit rating agency is likely to issue a U.S. credit downgrade in the near future.

For all the media’s apoplectic garment rending in the the last three weeks over one or another supposed gaffe or misstatement from Mitt Romney, only the Washington Posts’ media critic Erik Wemple seems to think that this is a rather glaring dismissal of a chief concern for many America’s voters.

President Obama promised to address the nation’s debt during his 2008 campaign. He lobbied for a line-item veto in the last election cycle – a power the Republican House granted him in February, 2012, but stalled in the Democratic Senate. Just after taking office, in February 2009, the president promised to cut “the deficit we inherited by half.” It has remained static over the course of his term at $1.3 trillion. The debt has grown from $10.6 trillion in 2009 to more than $16 trillion in Obama’s first term.

Those that dismiss these broken promises as distractions from the real issues Americans care about are not reading the polls. Debt and deficit consistently rank among Americans’ top concerns, just behind the issues of unemployment and the state of the economy (which many polls lump together as linked issues).

What’s more, the president clearly avoided saying how much debt America is saddled with because it is among his biggest weaknesses. Voters’ area aware he increased the debt greatly, as show in the results of the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. This survey asked what their biggest concerns were about the president and the number one issue was that he has “significantly increased federal spending.” 29 percent of all voters said as much, including 44 percent of Republicans and 15 percent of Democrats agreed. Those numbers outpace Romney’s most troubling issue: contraception and abortion rights. Only 22 percent of all voters said Romney’s positions on those issues was a matter of concern for them.

A watchdog media would not let the president get away with this moment of selective amnesia. Call me an optimist, but I am holding out hope that the political press will step up and highlight this moment of conspicuous dereliction.

About 6.6 million people watched comedian Jay Leno's return to hosting NBC's "The Tonight Show" Monday evening, topping his closest rival, David Letterman, who drew 3.8 million viewers on CBS, according to early Nielsen Co. data provided by NBC.

It was a solid start for Mr. Leno, who said "It's good to be home" in his opening monologue. The comedian's first-night guests included actor Jamie Foxx and skier Lindsey Vonn.

Mr. Leno returned to "The Tonight Show," displacing former host Conan O'Brien, after NBC axed his short-lived "The Jay Leno Show" from prime time. His comeback benefited from promotion during the Olympics and TV executives had anticipated a big first outing. Mr. Leno's real test will be how well he performs in coming months, they said.

Mr. Leno surpassed the 2.9 million that Mr. O'Brien attracted, on average, during the nearly eight months he spent hosting "Tonight," according to Nielsen figures. But Mr. Leno's first-night audience was lower than the number who watched Mr. Leno's last "Tonight Show" in May, or Mr. O'Brien's first show as host in June.

An NBC spokeswoman said it spent less to promote Mr. Leno's new launch than it did for the previous changeover, calling this launch "low key."

Funny, all those leftwing TV pundits who screamed that Leno was done.

David Letterman And The Liberal Media's Double Standard

Normally the idea of a male boss having sexual relations with his staffers would not only be kind of sick, but svengali and pretty troublesome. But when it comes to David Letterman, not only does the liberal media give him a pass, but his fans adore him even more:

The president of a media watchdog organization is sounding off about the recent scandal involving talk-show host David Letterman.

Last week, Letterman -- host of the long-running Late Show on CBS -- admitted on the air that he had had sexual relations with a number of female staffers. The admission was made in response to an alleged multimillion-dollar extortion attempt by a CBS news producer, who was arrested earlier that afternoon.

Most of the media coverage has centered on the extortion plot, with little on the illicit affairs. Bob Peters, president of Morality in Media, says there seems to be a double standard when it comes to the entertainment industry and inappropriate relationships.

"More than one high-profile CEO has lost his job because of having sex with a subordinate. [And] in many corporations there are rules against such things," he points out.

"But in the entertainment media -- whether it's having sex with an adult subordinate or a 13-year-old girl [a reference to fugitive film director Roman Polanski] -- it's pretty much okay with the industry," says Peters. "And it's okay with what I would describe as morally blinded fans," he adds.

Peters says the media coverage is a reflection of the state of the nation, which seems to be more interested in an extortion plot than multiple affairs involving a well-known comedian.

On Wednesday night’s O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly circled around the David Letterman teen-got-knocked-up crack against the Palins, noticing that the Women’s Media Center, founded by uber-feminists Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda, harangued O’Reilly for mocking Helen Thomas for having a voice like the “Wicked Witch of the East,” but made no protest on Palin’s behalf to the Letterman show:

BILL O’REILLY: Now, women's groups. As you know, Sarah Palin and David Letterman. Not one woman's group -- no, NOW said something. I'm sorry. The National Organization for Women said, "Dave." OK. But no protests, no anything like that. But remember when I made fun of Helen Thomas, what happened? Roll the tape.

HELEN THOMAS, JOURNALIST: Do you think that Pakistan and -- are maintaining the safe havens in Afghanistan for these so-called terrorists?

O'REILLY: The White House press corps looked intimidated to me. Didn't they look intimidated? Except for that what's her name? The old lady, Helen Thomas. [Makes a noise like a dying crow.] It's like the wicked witch of the east.

ALAN COLMES: I didn't know you did impersonations.

O'REILLY: If I were Obama, I would have poured water on her.

COURTNEY MARTIN, MEMBER, WOMEN'S MEDIA CENTER: I think we both know that Helen Thomas is fine with being criticized for her work, for her actual journalism. But to take an attack at her appearance is just disrespectful.

O'REILLY: What was the appearance attack?

MARTIN: When is the first time you complimented a woman by calling her a witch?

O'REILLY: Alright. Now, the Women's Media Center, which came on and said nasty things about me, not a word about Sarah Palin. We checked their Web site. We monitored. Not one word. So I say to you, [Margaret] Hoover, women's groups, pressure groups, all ideological now, all on the far left, and they're done!

The Women's Media Center statement on O'Reilly in February insisted they were the type of feminists who stuck up for all women:

It was an attack no woman deserves--including this accomplished, award winning journalist working in the White House press corps, where women are underrepresented. The Women's Media Center demonstrated in its Sexism Sells But We're Not Buying It viral campaign that sexist remarks went unchecked by networks during the primary season. Now, as then, the WMC demands accountability.

An immediate public apology is required.

But the WMC doesn't "demand accountability" when Palin and her daughters are the targets of nasty mockery. As O'Reilly was calling them out, the WMC was handing out awards in Manhattan. MediaBistro's Fishbowl NY blog reported that Gloria Feldt, WMC board member and former Planned Parenthood boss, claimed at the dinner: "The mission of WMC is to point out, with your help, all the bull[bleep]...wherever it is."

You wouldn't be able to shut them up if someone dared to make rape jokes about Hillary Clinton.

It’s not unusual for politicians to inspire strong emotions. After all, there is a reason why people suggest you avoid talking about race, religion, and politics if you want to have a nice dinner conversation.

But something about Sarah Palin arouses a particularly strong reaction. Liberals attack her children, say grotesquely sexist things about her, embrace wacky conspiracy theories about her faking a pregnancy, and insult every woman in America when they suggest she can’t be a good mother and a politician, too.

Although Sarah Palin is more loved by the Right than any other politician in America, she has her detractors there as well. Staffers engage in whispering campaigns against her, quisling Republicans write offensive columns about her for liberal publications, and sneering Beltway hacks tut-tut about her on the cable news shows.

It would be understandable if Sarah Palin were president and produced this type of reaction, but the governor of Alaska? Most people couldn’t even name a half-dozen governors, much less obsess over what they’re doing.

So why does this lady produce such a big hubbub?

Well, there are many reasons for it, starting with her gender: Sarah Palin, had she been elected to the White House, would have been the first female vice president. Moreover, she has to be the odds-on favorite at this point to become the first woman president.

That upsets liberal feminists to no end because she is a living, breathing refutation of their style of feminism — which is intellectually bankrupt and seems to stand for nothing more than increasing the number of abortions, encouraging teenage girls to act like skanks, and pointlessly complaining about the “patriarchy.” Sarah Palin represents a totally different style of woman: the conservative feminist. She’s had a successful career, raised a big family, and has done it all without aborting an “inconvenient” child or carping about men keeping her down. The idea that Sarah Palin could become the new role model for feminism terrifies liberals, and it inspires them to ramp up the artillery barrage of malignity that they typically launch at conservative women — which is extraordinarily venomous to begin with. Whether it’s Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, or Carrie Prejean, there are few things on Earth that liberals hate more than strong, conservative women.

Palin’s sex has caused problems for her on the Right as well, but not the problems the Left tells you to expect — like gaggles of men who think she should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. Despite the fact that Sarah Palin was the best thing to happen to John McCain’s presidential campaign, the honest truth is that she was an identity politics pick. Had she been a man, someone with her limited experience would have never been selected. On the Left, this wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow, but on the Right, it created waves of resentment that hurt Palin with some Republicans.

After the way she took on David Letterman, liberals who continue to be obsessed with her, may want to tread carefully when it comes to bashing Palin in the future. Palin still has star power, a huge following and she's really been impressive in taking on the liberal media of late. To think, Letterman's TV ratings actually rose during this whole dust-up, and that's because of Palin.

This Time David Letterman Sincerely Apologizes To Sarah Palin For Rape Jokes

Word has it that some sponsors were about to bail out on Letterman, if that's the case, this is just as sincere as his first non-apology. Whatever the case, Palin's more than made her point concerning Letterman's sick, perverted "humor" as well as the lib media's double standards on below-the-belt attacks on conservative women. If the hateful idiots on the Left could only follow the words of Barry and stay away from making personal attacks on family members, this wouldn't have ever been news. Funny too, that before he started going on rants attacking conservatives, I actually liked Letterman and thought he was much funnier than Leno.

Matt Lauer Defends Pervert David Letterman On Sarah Palin Rape Jokes

So it's ok for liberals to "connect the dots" with conservative pundits and "domestic terrorism," but not ok for Palin to connect misogynist rape jokes with young women's self-esteem. Palin was being kind calling Lauer "extremely naive".

NBC host Matt Lauer interviewed Sarah Palin on June 12, and defended comedian David Letterman and his joke about the statutory rape of Palin’s daughter by baseball player Alex Rodriguez.

When Palin began to condemn the joke as wildly inappropriate and offensive, Lauer defended Letterman: “Since David Letterman’s not here, let me just say that he did not mention Willow by name, and he then went on to say he was not referring to your 14-year-old daughter,” as though to Lauer the excuse diminished the vile nature of Letterman’s joke.

At the end of the segment, Lauer did admit that, “a lot of people feel the joke was in extremely bad taste, no matter which daughter of yours he was referring to,” but not before Palin pointed out that, “regardless, it was a degrading comment about a young woman,” and no joke of that nature should be tolerated, no matter how old the victim of the joke is.

Lauer noted, “At the end of your statement you said that ‘a joke like this contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.’ Now, it was a joke. It was probably by most standards in bad taste.”

Leave aside the question of by which standards it was in good taste, Lauer the T.V. star feigned ignorance of the media’s influence on America’s culture when he asked Palin, “But can you really connect the dots to criminal activity the way you did in that statement?”

But Lauer was not done defending Letterman. Palin issued a statement refusing to appear on Letterman’s show stating, “it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman.” Lauer asked, “Are you suggesting that David Letterman can't be trusted around a 14-year-old girl ...Well is that not perhaps in bad taste also, governor? If you're, you know, suggesting that a 62-year-old man couldn't be trusted?”

So Lauer equated a disgusting sexual joke about a young woman with Palin’s statement, and then forced a mother to defend herself for wanting to protect her young daughter from a man who insulted and humiliated her with the joke.

That’s “extremely bad taste.”

Republican Senator John McCain has a message for late-night comic David Letterman: Enough with the jokes about Sarah Palin and her family.

The host of CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" drew the ire of Palin this week by making jokes about her visit to New York last weekend.

Letterman joked that a Palin daughter, presumably Bristol, 18, had sex with New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez during a baseball game the ex-vice presidential candidate attended. Bristol gave birth to a child last year fathered by her former fiance.

"I don't understand why Letterman would say that about a young woman," McCain said during a telephone interview on Thursday. "They (the Palins) deserve some kind of protection from being the butt of late-night hosts."

Finally, John McCain does something that I can agree with.
