ABC Apologizes For Falsely Indentifying Colorado Shooter As Tea Party Member

On Good Morning America, ABC News' Brian Ross and George Stephanopoulos suggested that the Tea Party might be connected to the mass shootings early this morning in an Aurora, CO theater during a screening of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. The mainstream media attempted to blame the Tea Party for the Tuscon shootings in January 2011, shortly after Republicans swept the midterm elections. Now, in the critical 2012 elections, the mainstream media seems poised to do the same--and ABC News has led the way.

Here is the exchange between ABC News chief investigator Brian Ross and host George Stephanopoulos about apparent suspect James Holmes:

Stephanolpoulos: I'm going to go to Brian Ross. You've been investigating the background of Jim Holmes here. You found something that might be significant. 

Ross: There's a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year. Now, we don't know if this is the same Jim Holmes. But it's Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado. 

Stephanolpoulos: Okay, we'll keep looking at that. Brian Ross, thanks very much.

How interesting that Ross and ABC News should think to look to the Tea Party website first--and to broadcast politically volatile information without verifying if that "Jim Holmes" is the same as the suspect.

The "Jim Holmes" page on the Colorado Tea Party website is advertising an event with Middle East commentator Brigitte Gabriel next Thursday, July 26--hardly the behavior of a man who expected to be committing a deadly crime on July 20 for which he would certainly be apprehended and might not survive.

Look for more scapegoating from the mainstream media and the Democrats in the hours and days to follow.

UPDATE: The James Holmes arrested at the Aurora theater was 24 years old and seems to be from Denver, CO, according to a Facebook profile (a similar Facebook profile linked by a local news reporter has not been confirmed as the suspect's profile, either). There are many people with the name "James Holmes" in the area, and the James Homes on the Tea Party website could match a James Homes from Aurora, CO who is in his fifties and therefore does not fit the description of the suspect. More evidence that Ross, Stephanolpoulos and ABC rushed to blame the Tea Party without confirmation that the suspect is also the Tea Party member.

UPDATE: When ABC News corrected its initial report, it tried to spread the blame around to "social media" and "members of the public":

An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect,  but that report was incorrect. Several other local residents with similar names were also contacted via social media by members of the public who mistook them for the suspect.

It has since issued a more straightforward apology:

Obamabot Soledad O'Brien Tries (And Fails) to Debunk Romney's Women Job Loss Claim

CNN's Soledad O'Brien once again tried to fact-check numbers she took issue with, and once more she failed to refute them. On Monday's Starting Point she took aim at Mitt Romney's claim that women have accounted for 92 percent of the job losses under President Obama.


"That would be a shocking number if it were true, which it really isn't exactly overall," O'Brien began. Yet even ABC's George Stephanopoulos admitted the report was "accurate."


O'Brien claimed that since the numbers were counted beginning with January 2009, they included a three-week hemorrhage of jobs before Obama's January 20th inauguration, and thus he was held accountable for jobs lost during Bush's administration.


However, even if the numbers accounted for this and began in February 2009, women still lost 484,000 jobs in Obama's term, compared with a net gain of 468,000 jobs for men. Thus under President Obama, beginning a few days into his presidency, women lost jobs overall while men gained nearly as many jobs. So while Soledad is trying to refute the "war on women" Obama is being blamed for, she isn't doing a very good job.


In addition, she stated that men lost more jobs in the recession than women and most of their losses occurred before 2009, and thus the numbers should have begun when the recession commenced in December of 2007. However, the Romney campaign was specifically counting job losses for Obama's term – which is not uncommon for judging a presidency – and Soledad could not refute it as false even though she tried.


O'Brien is no stranger to defending Obama. She made headlines for a spat with Breitbart editor Joel Pollak over Obama's connections with radical professor Derrick Bell, tried to deflect blame away from Obama toward President Bush as the "food stamp president," and challenged "The Obamas" author Jodi Kantor over her book's claims – but was refuted by her own network's reports.

Mitt Romney To Obama: 'Press The Pause Button' On Health Care

In the wake of yesterday's ruling by a federal judge in Florida declaring the new health care law unconstitutional, potential 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney vigorously defended a similar plan he helped pass as governor of Massachusetts in 2006.


"I'm not apologizing for it, I'm indicating that we went in one direction and there are other possible directions," Romney said in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America" today. "I'd like to see states pursue their own ideas, see which ideas work best."


Romney conceded that he would probably push for a somewhat different law if he had to do it over again, and offered praise for Judge Roger Vinson of the Northern District of Florida, who ruled yesterday that the individual mandate, which requires individuals to purchase health care by 2014 or pay a penalty, violates the constitution. http://abcn.ws/dOMIyx


"The right thing for the president to do now," Romney advised is to "press the pause button and say, 'You know what, let's hold back on this Obamacare.'"


That's unlikely to happen, according to the White House, which called the ruling an "outlier" and expressed confidence it would be overturned on appeal. Notably, Judge Vinson did not order the government to stop implementing the law.

Yeah, like George Stephanopoulos. a former adviser to Bill Clinton, didn't already know the difference between states rights and federel govt. rights. But hey, he has an agenda to fill.

George Stephanopoulos Grills Maxine Waters On Ethics Violations

George Stephanopoulos on Friday showed that it is possible to force a Democratic politician to answer tough questions. The Good Morning America host grilled Representative Maxine Waters over allegations that she misused her office for personal gain.


Every single one of Stephanopoulos' questions was hard hitting, including this query: "The ethics committee is bipartisan. Five Democrats and five Republicans. If these charges are so groundless, how did this happen to you?" Waters is charged with assisting in obtaining TARP money for a bank that her husband had investments worth $175,000.

Considering that Stephanopoulos is a former adviser to Bill Clinton this comes as a shocker.

Sarah Palin Takes Down Obama On Nuclear Policy Experience

In a high profile address before thousands of conservative activists at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference Friday, Sarah Palin attacked the Obama administration for its energy policy, mocked the media and liberals for suggesting she is inciting violence and hit back at the president's criticism of her knowledge on nuclear issues.

Mr. Obama said in an interview Friday that he was unconcerned with Palin's attacks on his decision to announce that in most cases the United States will not use nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear country.

"Last I checked, Sarah Palin's not much of an expert on nuclear issues," he said.

Palin shot back in her comments Thursday, mocking the president for "the vast nuclear experience that he acquired as a community organizer." She said that his alleged experience had not helped him make progress in the issue with Iran and North Korea.

Obama 'Fired Up' For Health Care Speech Wednesday

President Barack Obama seems fired up and ready to go.

Warming up for Wednesday's speech to the nation on his vision for an overhauled health care system, an animated Obama retold the story of how the phrase "fired up, ready to go" became a rallying cry during his presidential campaign.

Addressing thousands of union supporters at a Labor Day picnic in Cincinnati on Monday, Obama recalled a presidential campaign stop in Greenwood, S.C., after what seemed like an endless, 90-minute drive.

He was soaked by rain and in the worst of moods but said he soon felt inspired by a lively city councilwoman who spent several minutes hollering "fired up, ready to go" at the 20 or so people who came to see him.

"After about a minute or two, I'm starting to feel kind of fired up. I'm starting to feel like I'm ready to go. So I start joining in the chant, and it's making me feel good," Obama said at the AFL-CIO picnic.

I'm actually in agreement with some on the Left, that this is what Obama should be doing: taking it to the people. If Barry feels so strongly about universal healthcare, then go on TV, spell out this healthcare overhaul package, what makes it so important and convince the American public why we need healthcare reform so badly in this country.

Barry promised transparency over and over when he was trying to get elected and so far he's failed miserably to live up to that promise. So forget the sanctimonious, partisan BS. Americans have a right to be concerned proposed changes to their healthcare. They have a right to be worried about that their doctor may end up having to take on a part-time job at UPS. They have a right to be worried about decisions on their health being made by federal employees. They have a right to be worried about language supporting "death panels" and other rumors they've heard about a healthcare reform package created solely by one party: Democrats. Americans all over are up in arms about healthcare reform and come Wednesday Barry needs to provide them with the proper answers.

To think, Liz Cheney's on there facing off against 4 Obama stans (including former Clinton aide George Stephanopoulos and notorious Obama groupie Gwen Ifill) and she's barely allowed to get her points across. George Stephanopoulos Continues To Shill For Barack Obama

Assessing President Barrack Obama's overseas trip, ABC's George Stephanopoulos proposed it was “a real test for the President” and, no surprise, decided “he passed it pretty easily” since “he was confident, he had a sense of command in his personal and his public diplomacy, forged strong relationships with his European counterparts...” Furthermore, Stephanopoulos admired Obama's “strong” unannounced visit to troops in Iraq, touting how the President “capped off” his travels “with this critical visit to the troops. When you've got American troops fighting on two fronts, you have to end that visit with a strong visit with the troops, and he did.”

Asked by anchor Charles Gibson to list some minuses, Stephanopoulos acknowledged “good feelings with your allies don't guarantee agreement,” citing Obama's inability to secure help in Afghanistan and with North Korea, but the host of ABC's This Week wrapped up with how the White House is pleased with the trip -- as if it were possible they wouldn't be: “They feel this trip went exactly as they planned. They couldn't be happier. Now they're going to come back home and focus again on the economy.”

Stephanopoulus is a joke, his journalistic integrity now totally shot. Whether it was using our troops for a photo op, bowing down to a foreign leader, accusing our country of not being Christian or failing to push Turkey to recognize its genocide against Armenians, the Teleprompter-In-Chief's first tour overseas was a disaster.
