There's been another mass shooting by a crazy person, and liberals still refuse to consider institutionalizing the dangerous mentally ill. 

The man who shot up the Washington Navy Yard on Monday, Aaron Alexis, heard voices speaking to him through the walls. He thought people were following him. He believed microwave ovens were sending vibrations through his body. There are also reports that Alexis believed the Obamacare exchanges were ready to go. 

Anyone see any bright red flags of paranoid schizophrenia? (Either that, or Obama's NSA is way better than we thought!) 

But Alexis couldn't be institutionalized because the left has officially certified the mentally ill as "victims," and once you're a victim, all that matters is that you not be "stigmatized." 

But here's the problem: Coddling the mentally ill isn't even helping the mentally ill. Ask the sisters of crazy homeless woman "Billie Boggs" how grateful they were to the ACLU for keeping Boggs living on the streets of New York City. Ask the parents of Aaron Alexis, James Holmes (Aurora, Colo., movie theater shooter), Jared Loughner (Tucson, Ariz., mall shooter) or Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech shooter) how happy they are that their sons weren't institutionalized. 

Tellingly, throughout the last three decades, the overall homicide rate has been in free fall, thanks to Republican crime policies, from 10 per 100,000 in 1980 to 4 per 100,00 today. (You might even call them "common sense" crime policies.) But the number of mass shootings has skyrocketed from 4 per year, between 1900 and 1970, to 29 per year since then. 

Something seems to have gone horribly wrong right around 1970. What could it be? Was it the introduction of bell-bottoms? 

That date happens to correlate precisely with when the country began throwing the mentally ill out of institutions in 1969. Your memory of there not being as many mass murders a few decades ago is correct. 

Your memory of there not being as many homeless people a few decades ago is also correct. 

But liberals won't allow the dangerous mentally ill to be committed to institutions against their will. (The threat of commitment is very persuasive in getting disturbed individuals to take their medicine.) Something in liberals' genetic makeup compels them to attack civilization, for example, by defending the right of dangerous psychotics to refuse treatment and then representing them in court after they commit murder.

Democrat Official Allan Brauer Wishes ‘Debilitating, Painful, Incurable Diseases,’ on Kids of Ted Cruz Advisor

Allan Brauer, the elected communications chair of the Democratic Party of Sacramento County, California, is not a fan of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). When speechwriter and advisor to Cruz, Amanda Carpenter, took to Twitter to rally Republicans in the Senate to support a bill which would defund the Affordable Care Act, Brauer expressed his frustration with this sentiment in no uncertain terms. 

“May your children all die from debilitating, painful and incurable diseases,” Brauer wrote. 

This sentiment ignited a firestorm on Twitter and many attacked Brauer for the inappropriateness of his comment. 

Rather than retract or apologize, Brauer proceeded to justify his actions in a subsequent tweet. 

Other organizations have highlighted Brauer’s propensity for making incendiary statements and using offensive language on Twitter to attack his political adversaries in the past. 

On Friday, the House passed a resolution to fund the government which would defund “Obamacare” by 230-189 votes. The bill will now head to the Senate where it is not expected to pass in its present form. 

UPDATE: After a number of tweets attacking the individuals who lashed out at Brauer for his offensive language, the Sacramento County Democratic official issued an apology to Carpenter.

13 Wounded as Gunmen Open Fire in Chicago Basketball Court

What folks in New York City can look forward to if they elect, soft-on-crime, anti stop-and-frisk, uber-liberal Bill de Blasio as mayor come november:

Thirteen people, including a 3-year-old boy, were hit by gunshots Thursday night as at least two gunmen opened fire on a group of people who had gathered at a basketball court on Chicago’s South Side, the police said. 

There were no fatalities, but the child was shot in the head and two other people were also hospitalized in critical condition on Friday, the authorities said. The police have not made any arrests in the shooting. 

The shooting is the latest outburst of violence in the city, which had more than 500 homicides in 2012 — more than any other city in the nation, and about 80 more than New York, which has twice as many people. 

At about 10:15 p.m. Thursday night, at least two men shot at a group people at a basketball game at Cornell Square Park in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, the police said, sending players and spectators scrambling for cover as dozens of bullets were fired at the court. 

The victims ranged in age from 3 to 41, according to the Fire Department. Two of the wounded were teenagers. 

Family members identified the young boy as Deonta Howard, whose uncle was shot and killed on Sept. 2, according to The Chicago Tribune. 

Ron Gaines, a police spokesman, said the shooting appeared to be gang related. The city has sought to combat such violence in recent months by deploying hundreds of officers on overtime to 20 neighborhoods plagued by shootings and by focusing on reducing the city’s endemic gang warfare, particularly retaliatory shootings. Chicago police say the murder rate is about 20 percent lower this year when compared with 2012. 

In an incident that has come to illustrate the city’s problem with violence, Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old member of her high school’s majorette team, was gunned down in January, not long after she had returned from Washington after performing at an event celebrating the second inauguration of President Obama. 

That shooting, which occurred not far from Mr. Obama’s family home, was mentioned by the president in his State of the Union speech this year.

Legal Motion Filed Against DOJ Witch Hunt on Texas Voter ID

Voter integrity group True the Vote has filed a motion intervening in a Department of Justice lawsuit against the voter identification law in Texas. 

"The Holder Justice Department has made clear its litigation against Texas will serve as a warning that other states should not pursue election integrity measures - True the Vote stands ready to fight their effort to dilute voters' rights," True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said in statement. "Over 80 percent of Americans favor laws changing to require photo voter identification at the polls. When the DOJ makes baseless claims to obscure the integrity of the voting process, we will not stand idly by. If Texas is to be labeled a political prize by the Plaintiffs and their Interveners, attacking election integrity will not be an acceptable strategy." 

In August, Attorney General Eric Holder issued a lawsuit to stop a strongly supported voter identification law in Texas after the Supreme Court struck down parts of the Voting Rights Act, which resulted in southern states being allowed to change election laws without asking DOJ for permission first. After issuing the lawsuit, Holder argued he would not allow a Supreme Court decision to declare "open season" on voting rights. 

"The Plaintiff [DOJ] is attempting to obtain a remedy which this Court does nothave the jurisdiction to grant. This Court does not have the authority to impose statewidemandates on Texas to submit all future state, county and local election law changes to thePlaintiff for approval under Section 3 of the Voting Rights Act," the motion states. 

Texas Governor Rick Perry has vowed to do whatever it takes to fight DOJ on this issue.

Bill de Blasio’s War on Blacks and Other Minorities

Bill de Blasio wants to be seen as a champion for blacks and other minorities. So why is he planning to wage war on them?

De Blasio clinched the Democratic primary for mayor in large part by promoting his inter-racial family and, notably, his son’s prominent Afro. His “two cities” mantra is meant to suggest he’ll fight for the have-nots — minorities. In a new poll, African-Americans say they back him over Republican nominee Joe Lhota by a whopping 86 percent to 3 percent — that is, near-unanimously.

Yet de Blasio’s positions on all the key issues — crime, jobs, education — will hit minorities hard. At the same time, despite his attacks on the “1 percent,” he’ll leave wealthy New Yorkers relatively unscathed.

Think about it: De Blasio has been front-and-center in the drive to constrain pre-emptive crime-fighting in the city. He rails against “the burdensome impact of overly-aggressive [police] tactics,” like stop-and-frisk. As mayor, he’d drop the city’s appeal of federal Judge Shira Scheindlin’s recent ruling against stop-and-frisk and has already moved to oppose a stay of that ruling.

He also demands an end to “racial profiling” of suspects (though NYPD policy and city law already ban it) and supports the law creating a new inspector general for the department.

The net result of all this: Hamstrung cops. Less pro-active policing. More violent crime. And that will be particularly true in New York’s sketchiest neighborhoods, where aggressive policing is most needed.

Who will be the victims of more violent crime? Predominately, blacks and Hispanics. Last year, for example, 96 percent of all shooting victims in New York have been black or Hispanic. And nine out of 10 murder victims are minorities.

A spike in murder, to put it bluntly, means more dead blacks and Hispanics. Whites won’t be affected as much.

The same logic holds for de Blasio’s stands on education. Wednesday night, the United Federation of Teachers threw its support to de Blasio. That’s because it knows he’ll back the union over the interests of kids — particularly on core issues like charter schools, which the UFT despises.

But with fewer charters, more kids will remain imprisoned in rotten traditional schools. The tens of thousands of desperate families who routinely get shut out of charter-school lotteries for lack of seats will continue to get shut out.

Who are these families? Hint: New York’s public-schools are 69 percent black and Hispanic. Whites disproportionately send their kids to private schools, or find the very best public schools for them. They won’t suffer as much.

But hundreds of thousands of black and Hispanic kids trapped in failing city schools, which de Blasio vows to keep open, certainly will. 

And to make it more tragic, they’re the ones who, collectively, need help most: College-readiness rates among minority graduates, for example, are about half that of whites. And the graduation rate for minority kids is itself about 25 percent lower.

Then there are jobs. De Blasio favors “living wage” laws, higher minimum-wage rates, mandatory paid sick days and other costs to businesses that tend to price entry-level and low-skill employees — largely minorities, especially the young — out of jobs. And his plan to sock the rich with higher taxes will encourage investors to look elsewhere to run businesses.

Upshot? Kids like de Blasio’s son Dante (or, rather, kids like Dante whose dads aren’t powerful) will be hurt most. And never mind the high unemployment rates among minorities: 13 percent, for example, for blacks nationally, compared to 6.4 percent for whites — and 38 percent for black teens. 

Let’s face it: Whites, particularly wealthy ones, will have more options if de Blasio becomes mayor and pushes through his plans. If his tax hikes are too high, they’ll move out of town. If schools continue to fail, they’ll rely on private schools. If crime shoots up, they’ll steer clear of the bad areas.

Alas, blacks and Hispanics won’t have such easy choices. They’ll be hit with more violent crime. They’ll be cheated of the kind of educations that whites enjoy at private schools. Their young will lose out on entry-level jobs and perhaps lapse into lives of dependency.

Talk about a tale of two cities.

Census on Barack Obama’s 1st Term: Real Median Income Down $2,627; People in Poverty Up 6,667,000; Record 46,496,000 Now Poor

During the four years that marked President Barack Obama’s first term in office, the real median income of American households dropped by $2,627 and the number of people in poverty increased by approximately 6,667,000, according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

The record total of approximately 46,496,000 people in the United States who are now in poverty, according to the Census Bureau, is more than twice the population of Syria, which, according to the CIA, has 22,457,336 people.

In 2008, the year Obama was elected, real median household income in the United States was $53,644 according to the Census Bureau. In 2012, the last full year of Obama’s first term, median household income was $51,017. Thus, real median household income dropped $2,627—or 4.89 percent—from 2008 to 2012.

In fact, real median household income dropped in every year of Obama's first term. In 2008, when he was elected, it was $53,644. In 2009, the year he was inaugurated, it dropped to 53,285. In 2010, his second year in office, it dropped to $51,892. In 2011, his third year in office, it dropped to $51,100. And, in 2012, his fourth year in office, it dropped to $51,017.

At the same time the number of people living in poverty in the United States increased. In 2008, according to the Census Bureau, there were approximately 39,829,000 people living in poverty in this country. In 2012, there were 46,496,000. That is an increase of approximately 6,667,000—of 16.73 percent—from 2008 to 2012.

The number of people in poverty increased during three of the four years of Obama's first term--taking a slight dip from 2010 to 2011, but then rising again from 2011 to 2012. In 2008, there were 39,829 people in poverty in the U.S. In 2009, it climbed to 43,569. In 2010, it climbed again to 46,343. In 2011, it dipped to 46,247. And, in 2012, it climbed to an all-time high 46,496.

In 2008, the year Obama was elected, people in poverty represented 13.2 percent of the national population. In 2012, they represented 15.0 percent of the population.

The income threshold at which a person was determined to be in “poverty,” according to the Census Bureau, depended on the size of their household. If a person lived by themselves and earned less than $11,270 in 2012, they were considered to be in poverty. A family of two people was considered in poverty if they earned less than $14,937. The threshold for a family of three was $18,284, for a family of four it was $23,492, and for a family of five it was $27,827.

‘Black Tim Tebow’: Giants Star Prince Amukamara Says He’s Still a Virgin

Giants starting cornerback Prince Amukamara said in an interview with Muscle & Fitness that he’s never had a drink in his life and he remains a virgin. A devout Catholic, Amukamara said he has been called “the black Tim Tebow” by peers.

“I grew up Catholic, so it just started out as one of those things,” Amukamara told the magazine. “I’d think, ‘If I do this, maybe I can get to heaven,’ so I said no drinks, no sex, all the big things. As I grew up, I realized that’s not what it’s about. It’s about having a relationship with Jesus. It’s not about ‘Don’t do this.

Don’t do that.’ But still, it’s just one of those things I haven’t done, and I don’t see any benefit to doing it.”

Amukamara, 24, said he told his fiancé Pilar Davis that he might have his first alcoholic beverage at his bachelor party, but he’s not sure.

The two met at a New York City nightclub SL two years ago and Amukamara was “drawn to her,” but hesitant about actually making a move. He had to be spurred on by then-teammates Corey Webster and Aaron Ross to strike up a conversation.

“They were like, ‘Go say something to her!’” Amukamara said. “And they were cheering me on. She thought we were all rowdy and drunk and she didn’t pay us any attention. Then, later, I was waiting for Ahmad [Bradshaw] and she came by and we struck up a conversation. I asked her for her e-mail address because when someone asks for your number, it might be too personal and you might not want to give it. But if you ask for their e-mail address, they’ll give it. I was right.”

Amukamara, who is of Nigerian descent, still goes out clubbing with friends and teammates, though he doesn’t partake in drinking. He says he enjoys dancing and gets “high off of everyone else’s high.”

As far as women, the third-year player out of the University of Nebraska doesn’t even tell them he’s a football player. When he meets a girl, he claims to be a construction worker. And he told Davis when they met that he was a manager at the Gap.

“She’s from Sacramento, and if you remember [two years agp], we had to go to San Francisco to play them for the conference championship, so if I wanted her to visit me while I was out there, I’d have to tell her what I did,” Amukamara said. “So two days later, I said ‘Hey, I play for the Giants.’ She thought I meant San Francisco Giants. That’s when I thought she might be a keeper.”

CBS Lies and Hypes Pope Francis As 'One of the Most Progressive Popes in Modern Times'

Just like the Godless Left: attempting to turn Pope Francis into one of their own:

Friday's CBS This Morning heralded how supposedly, "Pope Francis is already being described as one of the most progressive popes in modern times" after six months as Bishop of Rome. Charlie D'Agata asserted that the pontiff is "the friendly face of the Vatican, the people's pope", and played up how Francis' apparent "spirit of spontaneity, openness, and inclusion has courted controversy...It includes extending an olive branch to the gay community." On Wednesday, NBC Nightly News also underlined how Pope Francis seemingly "has changed the tone in a church plagued by the sex abuse scandal, emphasizing Church teaching on helping the poor and social justice....it's not just what the new pope says that's a sign of a changing church – it's what he does – getting close to people...enjoying the crowds that flock to him."

Anchor Charlie Rose introduced D'Agata's report by emphasizing the Pope's personal style: "Francis is bringing more big changes just by keeping things simple." The CBS correspondent picked up where Rose left off, and outlined the specific differences between Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI:

CHARLIE D'AGATA From his first day on the job, Pope Francis made it clear things were going to be different around the Vatican....At his inauguration, he decided against the bullet-proof, air-conditioned Popemobile, instead opting for the open-top version and making stops along the way....This is the friendly face of the Vatican, the people's pope.

Instead of moving into the lavish Apostolic Palace of his predecessor, Pope Benedict, Francis opted for an understated guesthouse room. He finished his first Mass at St. Peter's Square on an informal note...[and] stepped out of the church and into the street like any ordinary priest, catching nervous security guards off-guard....And when 1,400 Harley-Davidson motorcycles lined a route in Rome, Pope Francis came along and blessed them all and their owners.

Of course, the Apostolic Palace wasn't built by Benedict XVI, but a 16th century pontiff, Pope Sixtus V, and has been used by the successors of St. Peter for centuries. Also, while Pope Francis doesn't live in the papal apartments inside the palace, he still uses other facilities in the building.

D'Agata ended the segment with his "one of the most progressive popes in modern times" line. This labeling is beyond premature. Early in his papacy, Francis seconded the findings of a doctrinal critique of a dissenting coalition of American religious sisters, which was released during Pope Benedict's tenure. The left-wing Daily Beast decried the Argentinian pontiff for this move: "For all the renewal that Francis promises, the cold, hard reality is still that the Catholic Church is still one of the most misogynistic organizations around, no matter how popular the new pope might be."

Exactly a week earlier on CBS This Morning, correspondent Mark Phillips hyped Pope Francis' prayer and fasting vigil for peace in Syria as a "religious street protest". Phillips also all but hinted that the pontiff had "taken sides" with Russia's Vladimir Putin and against President Obama in the international debate over military strikes in the Middle Eastern country.

Jesse Watters Confronts Judge G. Todd Baugh Over Short Rape Sentence: ‘What If That Had Been Your Daughter?’

On Tuesday night, O’Reilly Factor producer Jesse Watters traveled to Montana to confront a judge who sentenced a child rapist to a mere 30 days in prison. Judge G. Todd Baugh garnered quite a bit of national outrage for the sentence, as well as some controversial comments he made about the rape victim being partly to blame.

Bill O’Reilly said that Baugh has been “running from the press,” and Watters managed to track him down, but not before speaking to Montanans who were clearly outraged at the sentence. The victim, Cherice Moralez, tragically committed suicide after being raped, and many people found the judge’s comments about her to be in extremely bad taste.

Watters finally confronted the judge at his home. The judge barely spoke to Watters, and when Watters asked, “What if that had been your daughter?” he angrily shoved Watters and stormed inside.

The one piece of good news here is that the sentence might not even be legal, and now the state is appealing for a new sentence, which could take a while. And in the meantime, the rapist will be free.

In 2011 IRS Was Concerned About Tea Party Group's Anti-Obama 'Propaganda'

Speak out against The One and/or dare to openly oppose his policies and there will be consequences:

Newly uncovered IRS documents show the agency flagged political groups based on the content of their literature, raising concerns specifically about "anti-Obama rhetoric," inflammatory language and "emotional" statements made by non-profits seeking tax-exempt status.

The internal 2011 documents, obtained by USA TODAY, list 162 groups by name, with comments by Internal Revenue Service lawyers in Washington raising issues about their political, lobbying and advocacy activities. In 21 cases, those activities were characterized as "propaganda."

The list provides the most specific public accounting to date of which groups were targeted for extra scrutiny and why. The IRS has not publicly identified the groups, repeatedly citing a provision of the tax code prohibiting it from releasing tax return information.

More than 80% of the organizations on the 2011 "political advocacy case" list were conservative, but the effort to police political activity also ensnared at least 11 liberal groups as of November 2011, including Progressives United, Progress Texas and Delawareans for Social and Economic Justice.

The IRS controversy first exploded in May, when Exempt Organizations Director Lois Lerner admitted that the IRS had targeted Tea Party groups for additional scrutiny beginning in early 2010. The IRS placed a hold on those applications for more than 20 months, an inspector general's investigation found.

Democrats Losing Advantage Over GOP in Three Key Areas

Today Gallup highlighted the results of three ongoing polls which showed that Democrats have lost their advantage over the GOP in three key areas.

First and most importantly the question of who can maintain American prosperity. Democrats held a big advantage on this measure in 2012 while Republicans in 2010-2011. Currently, having lost 9 points on this question, Democrats are at 42 percent while Republicans are holding steady at 43 percent.

Second, on the issue of security, Democrats had tied the GOP in 2012 but now trail. Gallup notes that the GOP traditionally does better on this issue and that the tie last year may have been the result of the timing of the poll which coincided with the Democratic convention. Nevertheless, the GOP now holds a 6 point lead on this issue.

The third question is which party is better able to address the "most important issue" whatever the respondent thinks that may be. Democrats held a significant advantage on this question last year but their numbers have plummeted 10 points since the election, from 49 to 39 percent. That said, they still hold a slight advantage over the GOP which is at 34 percent.

Gallup concludes by saying that the Democrats loss has not been the GOP's gain. Instead, more people have moved into a mushy middle positions saying there is no difference between the parties. Nevertheless, the Democrats have lost their 2012 advantages on key issues heading into next year's midterms. This has to be of concern to the DNC.

Fort Hood 2009? CNN Anchor Carol Costello Can't Remember the Last Shooting at 'U.S. Military Facility'

During CNN's live coverage of Monday's shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, anchor Carol Costello asked when the last time was that a gunman wreaked "havoc at a U.S. military facility." In 2009, a jihadist killed 13 in a mass-shooting at Fort Hood in Texas. 

"I used to work in Washington, live in Washington. This seems so unusual to me that a gunman could create this kind of havoc at a U.S. military facility," Costello stated. "Have you ever heard of it happening before, Brian?" she asked correspondent Brian Todd, reporting live from the vicinity of the shooting.

Costello added that "this is so unusual, because this is such a heavily-secured military facility. I've worked in Washington for many years, I've never heard of such a thing happening." She may have been referring to shootings at military bases near Washington, D.C., though her question simply referred to a "U.S. military facility."

Then too, how could you expect a man to respect you if you don't respect yourself? Newly crowned ghetto queen Miley Cyrus has learned this lesson the hard way:

First came the twerking and the sledgehammer, then, at the weekend, we saw the first real indication that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were done and dusted — she unfollowed him on Twitter.

Now, a source close to the on-again, off-again couple confirms what everyone has feared: The ex-Disney starlet and her Australian hunk are officially “on a break.”

“They’ve split for now,” the insider told RadarOnline.com. “Miley and Liam have a very tumultuous relationship and both are exhausted. It’s a complicated relationship. The wedding is on hold, for now. It’s not cancelled but it doesn’t look promising.”

Confirmation of the split comes after a report that Hemsworth, 23, was canoodling with another woman at the Toronto Film Festival.

According to Page Six, the Hunger Games star was “locking lips with a random brunette” at LDV Hospitality’s pop-up club Bungalow 8 on the Thompson Hotel rooftop on September 7. Later, “they left together.”

A rep for Hemsworth has insisted: “There is no truth whatsoever to any of this.”

But as we previously reported, Hemsworth’s frustrations with his partner of almost four years have been bubbling since her controversial performance alongside Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs.
