Friday on HBO during “Real Time with Bill Maher,” former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer broke with liberal tradition, saying the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was the right call.


Spitzer explained, as he has before, that the Court’s decision is consistent with with the First Amendment.


“Now, having said that, Bill, we rarely disagree. I am with the ACLU [American Civil Liberties Union] on this one. I think as a First Amendment principle, Citizens United was correct.”


He told Maher that there is no distinction between some shows on the airwaves — all owned by corporations — and a company’s participation in politics through paid advertising.


“Your show is owned by a corporation,” Spitzer said to Maher. “You have a First Amendment right. And so I don’t know how you distinguish between the New York Times editorial page, The Rachel Maddow Show, George [Stephanopoulos]‘s show — all owned by corporations.”


“The First Amendment,” he reminded Maher, says government “shall pass no law abridging the right of speech.”


“Doesn’t say by anybody. It says speech. I don’t care whose speech it is. The ACLU agrees with me, and Larry Lessig, great academic, on this. So this is a more textured issue. It has done horrific things to politics. But as a First Amendment issue, it’s a much more complicated issue.”

Eliot Spitzer Sued For Libel Over His Slate Column

Good. Anybody stupid enough to hire a morally bankrupt, scandal-plagued and totally corrupt guy like Eliot Spitzer deserves what they get:

Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was hit with two libel lawsuits seeking $90 million by former Marsh & McLennan Cos executives over a column posted on Slate.com about an insurance bid-rigging scandal.


The lawsuits arose from Spitzer's August 22, 2010, column, "They Still Don't Get It," advocating prosecution of corporate wrongdoers and defending his own enforcement activity against Marsh and insurer American International Group Inc.


William Gilman, a former Marsh executive marketing director, and Edward McNenney, a former Marsh global placement director, contended that they were defamed by the column, which appeared thee months after a judge threw out their convictions on felony antitrust charges. Neither is named in the column.


Slate.com is owned by Washington Post Co, and its parent Slate Group LLC is a defendant in both cases.


Gilman filed his $60 million lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, while McNenney filed papers seeking $30 million with the New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan. Both cases were filed on Friday and made public on Monday.


Spitzer, in a phone interview, declined to comment after the first of the lawsuits, Gilman's, became public. Rima Calderon, a Washington Post spokeswoman, declined to comment.

CNN Cancels Eliot Spitzer's Show

Good riddance part two:

CNN on Wednesday canceled Eliot Spitzer’s 8 p.m. political talk show, “In the Arena,” after only nine months amid a broader shake-up that shifts Anderson Cooper’s 10 p.m. nightly newscast into Mr. Spitzer’s time slot.


Mr. Spitzer will sign off on Wednesday night, a CNN spokeswoman said. His show will remain in the time slot until August 5.


The cable news channel also said that Erin Burnett, a new hire from CNBC, would take over the 7 p.m. time slot on weekdays, replacing John King, who will move to 6 p.m.


The changes are intended to stabilize the sagging television ratings for CNN, which have been a source of frustration for the channel’s parent company, Time Warner. “We think it creates better flow from show to show, and we think that will improve the overall performance across the evening,” Ken Jautz, who was put in charge of CNN/U.S. last fall, said in an interview.

Kathleen Parker Leaving CNN's Struggling 'Parker Spitzer'

I don't think I ever watched their once, but any woman who chooses to work with sleaze like Eliot Spitzer after the crap he pulled on his wife (much less the state of New York) gets no sympathy in my book:

Kathleen Parker, the Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist who co-hosted CNN's 8 p.m. show, is leaving just five months after the show debuted, the company announced Friday.


"I have decided to return to a schedule that will allow me to focus more on my syndicated newspaper column and other writings," Parker said in a statement.


She said she enjoyed her time on the show "Parker Spitzer" with former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, but she had missed focusing full-time on her column in the months she had been working on the show.


"With the show going in a new direction, it is a good time to move on," Parker said. "I want to thank the viewers who have been so kind with their comments and support."


Ken Jautz, CNN executive vice president, said a new program, called "In the Arena," will begin Monday. Spitzer will remain on that show, which will adopt "an ensemble format with several newsmakers, guests and contributors joining Eliot Spitzer each night."

Really now, besides the fact that one of your co-hosts is a recently disgraced ex-governor who repeatedly cheated on his wife with hookers, did CNN execs really think that going the MSNBC route and bringing on idiot liberal B-listers to bash Sarah Palin was going to give your new show a boost?

No joke: Out of an hour’s worth of programming, this is the 90 seconds they’re touting on CNN.com. Because, after all, if you’re a Palin-hater itching to see her demonized, how many options do you have on cable news at 8 p.m.? Oh, right — Olbermann does this every night of the year. Good work, CNN.

Please to contain your surprise upon learning that last night’s debut finished … dead last in its time slot. Yes, even behind whatever it is that Headline News runs during that hour. Good lord. Not even a respectable third place for the premiere? No public curiosity to see Client Number Nine in, er, action?

Parker Spitzer finished 4th in total viewers and the A25-54 demographic. It also lost viewers from the lead-in at 7pmET, John King USA, in total viewers…

Parker Spitzer did improve on the lead-in in the demo, and was up week-to-week in demo as well. A CNN spokesperson tells Mediaite: “We are pleased with the quality of the show and over time we think viewers will be drawn to the more thoughtful discussion and lively debate that Kathleen and Eliot have to offer.”

Reuters has a brutal round-up of the opening night reviews but all you really need to read is the New York Post’s headline to get the flavor. In fact, among all the reactions I’ve seen, the only bit of contrarianism came from a certain conservative atheist — and for once, it wasn’t me. Exit question: Is it already time for a “Parker Spitzer” cancellation watch? Over/under is New Year’s, I guess.

After swearing off opinion-based programming - and we've seen how well that's been going for CNN - the ratings-starved cable news network is dipping its parched tongue cautiously into the opinionated waters with a new show hosted by disgraced/rehabbed Democratic former New York governor Eliot Spitzer and conservative columnist Kathleen Parker.

The as yet unnamed show will air weeknights at 8 p.m., where the network most recently tried and failed with a Campbell Brown-hosted show, and where CNN hopes it can shore up Larry King's sinking talk show at 9.

CNN's new show will differ from all those other opinion shows on those other cable news networks, which "force-feed viewers one narrow, predictable point of view" because it will "be offering a lively roundup of all the best ideas - presented by two of the most intelligent and outspoken figures in the country," CNN president Jon Klein said Wednesday by way of explaining his network's apparent about face.

"Eliot and Kathleen are beholden to no vested interest - in fact, quite the opposite: they are renowned for taking on the most powerful targets and most important causes," Klein added for good measure. 

Good to know that being a lying prick without an ounce of integrity didn't effect Eliot Spitzer's job prospects.

Eliot Spitzer Wants Back In Politics

Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer told Fortune that he will not rule out another run for public office.

Spitzer resigned his office in 2008 after an embarrassing prostitution scandal. He became governor after serving as attorney general with investigations into cases involving tainted Wall Street research and fraud.

"I love politics," Spitzer told Fortune last month. "The substance, the debate about the issues ..."

As for a race in 2010, Spitzer said it is "just hard to see," adding, "I've never said I would never consider running for office again."

Since leaving office, Spitzer has re-established himself by writing columns at the online magazine Slate and teaching. He told Fortune that he is in "unceasing agony" and "incredibly frustrated" over no longer being "where I would like to be" -- which is finishing his first term as governor.

Cheating bastard. Be fun to see him run against Kirsten Gillibrand tho, nothing like some liberal-on-liberal violence to sit back and watch.

Disgraced Ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer Lands Teaching Job At College

Disgraced politician Eliot Spitzer has started teaching as an adjunct professor at The City College of New York, at a time when the Democrat reportedly is considering mounting a comeback run for office.

Spitzer, who resigned as New York's governor in a prostitution scandal in March 2008, is an adjunct professor in CCNY's political science department.

It is the same department where his father, Bernard Spitzer, established an endowment for the Anne and Bernard Spitzer Chair in Political Science. The college is not the only office connected to his father that has helped him regain his professional footing -- since leaving public office, the Democrat has also worked in his father's real estate firm.

Ellis Simon, a spokesman for the Manhattan college, said Spitzer's three-hour class is called "Law and Public Policy." The undergraduate course began meeting on Tuesday and will meet once a week for 15 weeks.

Simon said Spitzer will earn around $4,500 for the fall term.

Word has it that 72% of college professors are liberal. In other words, campuses around the country are a breeding ground for liberal propaganda, so an idiot like Spitzer should fit right in, that is, as long as he stays away from teaching anything about ethics, morals, principles, etc.

Eliot Spitzer Hooker Ashley Dupree To Get Her Own Reality Show?

So what do you do after being exposed as the whore who brought down a married, Democratic governor? Call the liberal, sex-obsessed suits at MTV of course, and pitch them a reality show based on the surreal life of a young lady who lies on her back for money:

You knew it would come to this: Spitzer paramour Ashley Dupré is trying to parlay her infamy into regular fame with a career in reality television. Her lawyer says the former escort has “prospects for many exciting new projects” and she's headed to Hollywood. Though “a rep” for Dupre (presumably one rep on a team of many) admits she doesn’t quite have a TV deal yet, E! News is reporting that a dating show may be in development: "They are talking to MTV about Ashley being the next Tila Tequila." Anyone else relieved to have absolutely no clue what that means?

She's getting a lot of flack for this from the usual suspects, but if her main point is that men are more apt to cheat in sexless marriages than I concur. Nonetheless, it still doesn't ever make it right to sleep with hookers, humiliate his wife and destroy his family the way Spitzer did.

About 1 in 4 teenage girls in the United States - and nearly half of black girls - has at least one sexually transmitted disease, according to a study released yesterday, providing the first national snapshot of infection rates among this age group.

Those numbers translate into an estimated 3.2 million adolescent females infected with one of the four most common STDs - many of whom may not even know they have a disease or that they are passing it to their sex partners.

"What we found is alarming," said Dr. Sara Forhan, a researcher with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the study's lead author. "This means that far too many young women are at risk for the serious health effects of untreated STDs, including infertility and cervical cancer."

The study's authors analyzed data on 838 girls between ages 14 and 19 who participated in the 2003-04 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, an annual study that assesses a broad range of health issues. For the analysis, the teens were tested for human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, trichomoniasis, and herpes. By far, the most common sexually transmitted disease was HPV. Of those infected, 15 percent had more than one STD.

Now I know that liberals just shrug their shoulders to this sort of thing with the blase attitude of "they're going to have sex anyway". And I know that abstinence education is a all-too dangerous concept that must be kept away from our kids at all costs. But considering Eliot Spitzer's resignation yesterday amidst word coming out that he spent like $80,000+ on hookers for the last 10 or so years. I can't help but guess that the Governor's favorite hooker, 22-year-old "Kristen", probably started having sex when she was really young too. I mean, lets not kid ourselves here, considering the sexualization of our culture and all . . . and "high-priced call girls"? Well, they certainly weren't born that way.

(CNN) -- The New York Times on Monday reported that Gov. Eliot Spitzer has told senior administration officials that he was involved in a prostitution ring.

The paper's Web site cited an anonymous administration official and said the New York governor was meeting with his top aides and would be making a statement this afternoon.

"To say this is a shock is an understatement," said CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, who went to law school with Spitzer.

Spitzer served as New York's attorney general for eight years before being elected governor.

Time magazine named him "Crusader of the Year" during his two terms as New York attorney general.

Tabloids labeled him "Eliot Ness," after the hero in the crime drama "The Untouchables," because of his reputation for rooting out corruption, busting white-collar criminals and tackling organized crime.

This is what happens when you elect liberal terrorists to public office.

Eliot Spitzer Giving Murderers Get Out Of Jail Free Cards

This horrible governor of New York is now giving second chances to violent felons:

The state is reportedly paroling far more violent convicts under Governor Eliot Spitzer than his predecessor. According to the Daily News, ten percent of A-1 felons were granted parole this year, compared to a three to five percent parole rate between 2000 and 2005.

A parole board spokesman tells the paper that despite the large increase, parole commissioners haven't been directed to release more inmates. And a source close to the governor tells the News that commissioners may just be feeling freer to use their discretion.

The report comes a day after some Republican lawmakers spoke out against Spitzer's plan to offer parole hearings to about one thousand violent felons. The governor is reportedly looking to settle a lawsuit filed by convicts, who say they've been denied hearings because commissioners have only focused on the nature of their crimes.

This is what happens when you elect a liberal to govern your state. Criminals rights become more important than victims. Liberals will coddle the criminal element, focusing their efforts on liberal feel-good initiatives trying to “understand” the reasons they kill instead of enacting tough-on-crime legislation. I don't believe in the death penalty, but I certainly believe in life without the possibility of parole and the idea that murderers being let out early on parole is a slap in the face to victims as well as their families. The very idea stinks (think: Willie Horton) and it's yet another reason why Eliot Spitzer needs to go.

Hillary Supports Illegals Getting Drivers Licenses

After Tim Russert's gotcha moment the other night, Senator Hillary Clinton came out today to wholeheartedly endorse New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's plan to provide drivers licenses for undocumented aliens in New York:

Mrs. Clinton’s statement affirming her support of Mr. Spitzer in his office came less than a day after she offered a muddled and hesitant position on the bill, prompting a round of denunciations by her opponents. It signaled the extent to which her advisers viewed that moment as the biggest misstep she made in the debate, and one with long-term potential to undermine her candidacy.

“Senator Clinton supports governors like Governor Spitzer who believe they need such a measure to deal with the crisis caused by this administration’s failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform,’” her campaign said.

Two-thirds of New Yorkers alone are against this horrible plan, but Hillary is supporting it? The idea that any politician, much less one running for President, would support a plan that assures illegal immigrants of getting drivers licenses without a social security card, is downright scary. And that Hillary would get behind Eliot Spitzer, a Rosie O'Donnell liberal, who has been involved in scandal after scandal since getting elected just last year, while using his governership as a virtual bully pulpit to promote the agenda of far-left wing special interest groups, is even scarier. If the GOP wants to put a big dent in the Hillary bandwagon, they really need to take advantage of this mess.
