Sign of the Liberal Times: ABC Axes "All My Children" And "One Life To Live"

People.com:
It's a sad day for soap opera fans.

ABC announced Thursday that the sun will set permanently in the fictional towns of Pine Valley and Llanview as All My Children and One Life to Live wrap up for good.

AMC's last episode – which was rumored last month to be on the horizon – will be in September, while OLTL will end in January 2012.

At the very least, fans needn't worry they'll be stuck with controversial, Lost-style endings – producers promise a satisfying conclusion to both soaps' legacies.

"To honor the core, passionate audience and their rich history with our soaps," both shows will conclude "in a manner that respects their legacies and the longstanding hopes of many of their viewers," reads a press release from ABC.
Not that I ever watched any of these shows, but I can easily recall how much my mom and her friends were into them. Yet, at the same time in an era where a no-talent and all-around messy drunk like Snooki can make the cover of "Rolling Stone", should anybody be surprised at the demise of soap operas? While they all had their share of controversial storylines, at its core soap operas had a moral center that most people could relate to. But then with the times came reality-TV, cheaper to produce and morally corrupt enough garner viewers, which at the end of the day says a lot about the kind of world we live in.

This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse: New Video Game Lets Women Kill Sexual Harassers

There’s a lot to dislike about the feminist movement these days. Between the nonstop hypocrisy and endemic self-victimization, “Hear me roar” has been reduced to “Listen to me whine.” Now, a new first-person shooter game, “Hey Baby,” gives women the opportunity to virtually kill men who sexually harass them. Is this … feminism?

“Ever had one of those seemingly endless days?” the promotional copy for “Hey Baby” teases. “All you want to do is to get home… You’re the last one out of the office. Its getting dark outside…” From the shadows, a man catcalls, “I wanna lick you all over.” What’s a girl to do?

Well, since you’re packing a “a 3′ long .80 caliber machine gun that’s locked and loaded,” you blow his brains out. Apparently, “IT’S PAYBACK TIME, BOYS.” And how. The video game’s cover features a sexy young woman in a short-short white dress tromping down the street with a gun behind her back. In her wake, the streets are awash with blood and the bodies of murdered men.

Initially, some speculated the game was a 4chan hoax designed to make fun of feminists. In fact, the game was created by Suyin Looui and LadyKillas Inc. “I really wanted the violence to be so ridiculous and sort of over the top gory, that people would know that it was a joke,” Looui told NPR. Meanwhile, feminist websites are eating it up, deeming it “revenge therapy.”
Shooting sexual harassers? No doubt "Hey Baby" is a radical feminists wet dream. One can imagine the uproar over a video game in which you play a man who can shoot women. Why, it'd be culturally unthinkable, no matter what the circumstances were. Video games like "Grand Theft Auto" have already proven to be capable of making unhinged people go crazy and actually hurt people (i.e. Columbine), now thanks to "Hey Baby" women with anti-male revenge fantasies can take a step further getting vengeance. Only question is will it on the TV screen?

This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse: McDonald's Indoctrinates Gay Agenda With "Come As You Are" Commercial

"McDonald's says they 'stand by and support our people to live and work in a society free of discrimination and harassment,'" the AFA said. However, "Here is what they won't tell you. McDonald's helped sponsor the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade."

The American Family Association asked McDonald's to remain neutral in the culture war. The company refused, "stating they will continue to support the gay agenda including same-sex marriage," the AFA said.

McDonald's spokesman Bill Whitman even told the Washington Post people, including Christians, who oppose homosexual marriage are motivated by "hate."

"The boycott is not about hiring homosexuals or how homosexual employees are treated. It is about McDonald's choosing to put the full resources of their corporation behind promoting the homosexual agenda," AFA said.

The issue erupted after McDonald's paid $20,000 and installed one of its executives on the board of the National "Gay" and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

The AFA now is asking consumers to sign a boycott petition and contact their local restaurant managers to raise objections over the company's activism.

Meanwhile, efforts by a local California organization to stage picketing in front of McDonald's restaurants until their managers agree to forward the group's concerns to the corporation headquarters are expanding.

This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse: "Teacher of the Year" Resigns After Alleged Sexual Relationship With Student

SNELLVILLE, Ga. (CBS/AP) Keenon Aampay Hall, who was voted Teacher of the Year at Shiloh High School, resigned after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student-athlete.

Records obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution show the 29-year-old English teacher and cheerleading coach left her job after being accused of seducing a student who came to her for help with homework.
An investigative file shows the student, who is a graduating senior and football player, claims Hall gave him gifts and pressured him to get her pregnant.

When he declined, the student's family says Hall gave him a failing grade, prompting him to report the relationship to officials.

"The allegation of the inappropriate behavior came to light because the teacher decreased the student's grade," Gwinnett schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to Hall's class website, she has taught at Shiloh High School, east of Atlanta, for six years and was a cheerleading coach.

"As a self-proclaimed nerd, I love learning!," reads her website. "I hope to pass on the same passion for learning to my students."

Gwinnett County officials are investigating.

This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse: WaPo Lists 'Virginity' As Something 'The World Should Toss Out'

Most people do spring cleaning to get rid of unwanted items and to perhaps start fresh. The Washington Post recently compiled a spring cleaning list of “Twelve Things the World Should Toss Out.” But instead of suggesting getting rid of old clothes or unused exercise equipment, blogger Jessica Valenti actually advocated that virginity should be headed for the dump.

Valenti, who is the author of “The Purity Myth: How America’s Obsession with Virginity is Hurting Young Women,” first complained that there is no set definition of “virginity.” She went on to criticize efforts to remain abstinent until marriage, writing, “Promise rings, virginity pledges and other efforts to enforce chastity aren't just backward -- they're a failure, and they may even endanger teenagers.”
She complained that teenagers who sign abstinence pledges are more likely to engage in unprotected sex, as well as anal and oral sex. Yet, according in to the National Abstinence Education Association, just 33 percent of young adults who take the pledge initiate sexual intercourse. This is compared to 42.4 percent of young adults who don’t take the pledge.
But Valenti disregarded the statistics and made it appear that teenagers simply aren’t capable of waiting to have sexual intercourse. She pushed against abstinence education and wrote, “These are the predictable results of telling teenagers that sex is wrong and that the only pure thing to do is wait. A teenager who takes these messages to heart won't in good conscience keep condoms -- much better to get ‘carried away’ than to plan for an impure act. He or she may, however, look for loopholes, often dangerous ones.”
What Valenti failed to note is that more teenagers are actually waiting to have sex. According to the Family Research Council, in 1991, 51 percent of teenagers had sex. But by 2003, the number had dropped to 47 percent.
Typical liberal hogwash: virginity is "unrealistic" so get "rid" of it altogether as it does more "harm" than good for women so why even bother trying. In a sex-dominated culture like this one, partisan rhetoric like this is easy to grasp--why make your own choices regarding sex when you can just grab a condom and have sex like "everybody" else is--you're going to do it anyway, right? Wrong. And the stats/facts continue to prove it. Then too doesn't telling women that they can't abstain from sex kinda defeat the whole "women should be allowed to say and do what they want with their bodies" movement within the Left? Just saying.

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: Grandmother In Love With Grandson And They're Having A Baby

Meet 72-year-old Pearl Carter of Indiana and her 26-year-old biological grandson Phil Bailey. Not only are they in love, but they're having a child together via a surrogate.
Pearl Carter is positively glowing with joy. She has a handsome new boyfriend, is enjoying an active sex life after many years of celibacy and, amazingly, is preparing to become a mother again.

But the retired grandmother isn't carrying the baby herself. She and her young lover have spent a staggering $54,000 hiring a surrogate to help them with their dreams of having a child.

What makes Pearl's decision to become a mum again even more shocking is that her new boyfriend is her biological grandson, 26-year-old Phil Bailey.

Phil is the son of Pearl's daughter Lynette Bailey, and the pair is braving public horror and even prison by breaking one of the last taboos – incest.

However, the pair makes no apologies for their controversial plan to start their own family.

'I'm not interested in anyone else's opinion,' Pearl says. 'I am in love with Phil and he's in love with me. Soon I'll be holding my son or daughter in my arms and Phil will be the proud dad'.

Phil adds, 'I love Pearl with all my heart. I've always been attracted to older women and I think Pearl is gorgeous. Now I'm going to be a dad and I can't wait.

'Yes, we get laughed at and bullied when we go out and kiss in public but we don't care. You can't help who you fall for.'
Pearl and Phil have been together since 2006. A year ago they decided to use Pearl's retirement money to hire a surrogate to carry their child. Pearl says, "I am finally going to be a mum and not forced to give up my child. Phil's going to be a great dad. I never in a million years thought at 72 I'd be "pregnant" and in love with my grandson. I make no apologies and I believe God's given me a second chance."
Sick. This kind of stuff makes me want to give up my dream of visiting New Zealand.

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: Archie Comics Introduces First Openly Gay Character

NYTimes.com:
A new man is moving into Riverdale, the home of comics’ perennial teenager Archie Andrews and his gang. His name is Kevin Keller, and he’s blond-haired, blue-eyed and gay. Kevin will be introduced in Veronica No. 202, right, in a story titled, “Isn’t it Bromantic?” The inclusion of the character meets twin goals, one real world and one in-story. “Riverdale has to reflect the diversity of the world today,” said Jon Goldwater, co-chief executive of Archie Comic Publications. “We want to be all inclusive.” Mr. Goldwater also said he’s not afraid of any repercussions. “We think everyone is going to enjoy the story,” he said. “It’s completely in the tradition of your typical Archie comic.”

Dan Parent
will be writing and illustrating the story of Kevin’s introduction. He said his goal was simple: “Veronica is always chasing guys and getting what she wants. Who could we introduce that she could not get?” Mr. Parent said Kevin would be more than a one-off character with future stories already mapped out. The issue will hit newsstands on Sept. 1.
First of all, this is about indoctrination. Comic book readers are mostly young kids and what better time for liberals to introduce folks to "gay is ok" then when they're young. Secondly, I confess to being a huge Archie comics fan growing up and I never felt the need for Riverdale to be more "diverse". Archie comics was about the funny adventures of a white, red-headed kid and his pals and even though I'm black, I was fine with that. I never cared about whether or not Archie had any black friends and I imagine that most kids who read Archie today weren't saying themselves: "Gee, where are Archie's gay pals at?" (in fact, the "inside" joke growing up was that Archie's best pal Jughead was probably a "closet" case). Lastly, while I have no idea how the comic book industry is doing sales-wise, I can imagine that the indoctrination of liberal agendas will have the same effect on the comic-book industry as it has on soap opera's--and that's not a good sign at all.

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: Elizabeth Taylor To Get Married For 9th Time

FOXNews.com:

Elizabeth Taylor is preparing to wed for the ninth time.

The serial wife and screen icon, 78, recently became engaged to 49-year-old Jason Winters of Sterling Winters Management, according to a report from Us Magazine.

Winters reps such high-powered clients as Janet Jackson, the sister of Taylor’s longtime friend Michael Jackson.

Taylor and Winters have not yet confirmed the news.

“It’s no secret that they’ve been together forever and are in love,” a source tells Us. “It wouldn’t be a surprise if they were engaged. Right now they are keeping it between them.”

Taylor and Winters were spotted three years ago on vacation in Hawaii. British papers reported that she spent one evening “caressing” his face. They have also appeared on red carpets together since then.

Taylor told famed gossip columnist Liz Smith that Winters is “one of the most wonderful men I’ve ever known, that’s why I love him.”

Taylor divorced her last husband, construction worker Larry Fortensky, in 1996 after five years of marriage.

People who treat marriage like a hobby as Elizabeth Taylor does, need psychological help. Of course, the fools that wed serial marriage folks like Taylor deserve half of the blame too.

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: "RapeLay", Japanese Rape Video Game Resurfaces

This video game is an in-your-face degradation of women everywhere, as is anything that makes rape seem ok. I don't know jack about politics in Japan, but if there isn't already pressure on the Japanese government to police these kind of game makers, then there certainly needs to be. Unbelievable.

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: School Kids Reenact "Scarface"

I saw this yesterday and suspected something was fishy due to the "audience" reaction throughout (no way "parents" sit calmly like that and clap while their "kids" reenact scenes from a violent film like "Scarface")...thank goodness it is a fake.

This Week's Sign Of The Apocalypse: NJ Woman, Donna Simpson, Wants To Weigh 1,000 Pounds

FOXNews.com:

Meet Donna Simpson. She's going to cost you. A lot.

Simpson, of Old Bridge, N.J., is 42 years old, has two kids and a boyfriend, and she weighs 602 pounds. That's right ... 602 pounds.

She's on a diet, of course, because she has a goal in mind:

She wants to weigh 1,000 pounds.

That's right ... 1,000 pounds. It's a nice, extra-round figure — almost as big as what her unhealthy choices will ultimately cost taxpayers.

Simpson claims she is normal and healthy, and she has a right to eat what she wants and weigh what she wants.

“I love eating and people love watching me eat,” she says. “It makes people happy, and I’m not harming anyone.”

But she needs to use a motor scooter when she goes grocery shopping, because she can't walk more than 20 feet. The human body, after all, is not designed to scarf down 12,000 calories a day in the quest to weigh half a ton.

Simpson is definitely harming someone — herself, says Dr. Carla Wolper, a registered dietitian and research faculty member at the New York Obesity Research Center at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

And you, the taxpayer, could wind up paying for it.

“We don’t know her medical history, but one of the most dangerous health issues she faces is an increased risk of sudden death from having a heart attack due to electrical problems in the heart,” Wolper said.

Other possible causes of death for Simpson include stroke, immobility, breathing problems, congestive heart failure, diabetes, and inflammation of heart tissue. Each year, nearly 300,000 Americans die from heart failure.

Not only is this woman incredibly insane, but anyone who enables her "goal" of reaching a 1,000 pounds should be locked up.

Woman Marries Dog

Ananova.com:
A Ghanaian woman has married her dog because it has qualities she had seen only in her late father.

Emily Mabou, 29, of Aburi, married the 18-month-old dog in a ceremony attended by a traditional priest and local, curious villagers, reports the Daily Dose.

Her younger brother David Mabou said her family boycotted the wedding which they felt was "a stupid step to combat her loneliness".

But Ms Mabou said: "For so long, I've been praying for a life partner who will have all the qualities of my dad. My dad was kind, faithful, and loyal to my mum, and he never let her down.

"I've been in relationships with so many men here in Togo, and they are all the same - skirt-chasers and cheaters. My dog is kind, and loyal to me and he treats me with so much respect."

In the ceremony, the priest warned villagers not to mock the wedding, but to "rejoice with her as she has found happiness at last".

Asked how she intends to raise children with her new husband, Ms Mabou said simply: "We will adopt."

Sick. But no surprise in an era that's seen marriage ridiculed and defiled by liberals.

Sergio Garcia: Fairfax High School's 2009 Prom "Queen"

It's no secret that public schools around America are being faced with an epidemic of liberal indoctrination, by so-called "educators" who want nothing better than to inject our youth their morally bankrupt propaganda. So in this case, who cares about all the young women having to compete with a boy for the title of "Prom Queen"? It's the "rights" of Sergio Garcia that matter more here--and if he feels like he's a "girl," so be it. Look for Sergio Garcia in a stall inside a women's bathroom soon--so what if he chooses to piss standing up.

Stu Rasmussen, First Tranny Mayor, To Get Own Reality Show

The Sick:

Silverton, Oregon, is the first US city to have an openly transgendered mayor. In just a matter of weeks, it might also become the first city in America to have a transgender mayor as a star of his own reality show for educational purposes, as Komo News informs and Oregon Live can confirm.

Stu Rasmussen is a 60-year-old software engineer who has over 20 years of experience in politics. He’s also in a stable relationship with his live-in girlfriend, who says they’ve been together for better and for worse for the past 35 years.

There is nothing out of the ordinary with Rasmussen, the people in Silverton say, so this reality show will not be about this peculiarity of his personal life. It will focus, instead, on the ups and downs of working with small-town government, so, in the end, its purpose will be an educational one.

“We’d like to think it’s going to be educational. A lot of people do not understand how small towns work, how government works.” Rasmussen tells Komo News. “Well, we hope it’s going to be more interesting than the civics class I had in high school.” he adds.
