Jan Brewer Vetos Religious Freedom SB1062 Bill and Caves To Godless, White Liberals

Is it any wonder so many social conservatives in this country have lost faith in the Republican party? With losers like John McCain, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and the 3 Arizona Republican members who caved to liberal lies and hyperbole on SB1062 and changed their mind, who needs the GOP?

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer made a statement Wednesday night declaring she already vetoed the controversial SB1062 bill that would permit state businesses to discriminate against LGBT individuals, confirming an earlier report that she was planning to veto the bill.

Advocates of the bill have argued that the bill was meant to protect people’s religious liberty, while opponents insisted it’s just the government adding on another layer of discrimination that gay people have to face in their lives.

Brewer previously pledged she would “do the right thing for Arizona,” and deferred questions by saying she had until Friday to make her decision. The Arizona Chamber of Commerce came out against the bill, as did many businesses (Apple and Marriott among them), and a number of high-profile Republicans, including both of Arizona’s GOP senators, called on Brewer to veto the bill.

Richard Sherman on Being Called a Thug: ‘It’s the Accepted Way of Calling Somebody the N-Word’

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman held a press conference Wednesday in which he addressed the backlash to his fiery post-game rant this week and the fact that so many people called him a thug. In fact the word was dropped quite a lot this week, and Sherman said it’s “disappointing” to hear so many people use the term. He even went so far as to say it’s a more socially acceptable way of calling someone a n*gger.

Sherman’s comments drew out some real racism online, with people actually dropping the n-word to disparage him, but most people stuck to criticizing him as a “thug.” Sherman already addressed that term in a column he wrote, but today he went one step further to fire back against that particular criticism.

“It seems like it’s the accepted way of calling somebody the n-word nowadays. It’s like everybody else said the n-word and then they say ‘thug’ and they’re like, ‘Oh, that’s fine.’”

He continued on to say, “I know some thugs, and they know I’m the furthest thing from a thug,” admitting it’s been “frustrating” and “disappointing” to hear that word used against him.

You won't hear about this from the liberal media:

We generally try to reserve the "pure gold" label for truly irresistible instances of flagrant hypocrisy and irony.  To wit, our last usage came while flagging a clip of President Obama ripping into President Bush's "unpatriotic" accumulation of $4 Trillion in debt over eight years ... just after Obama eclipsed the $4 Trillion mark himself after just two-and-a-half years on the job.  That reminder seems especially relevant this week, since we now find ourselves on the precipice of blowing past the $16 trillion national debt mark.  It'll probably happen by week's end.  In any case, and without further ado, here's candidate Barack Obama in 2008 informing voters about John McCain's risky and dangerous Medicare-slashing vision for healthcare reform:

"It turns out that Senator McCain would pay for part of his plan by making drastic cuts in Medicare!  (Boos) $882 Billion worth. (Boos) $882 billion in Medicare cuts to pay for an ill-conceived, badly-thought-through healthcare plan...even though Medicare is already facing a looming shortfall...If you rely on Medicare, it would mean fewer places to get care, and less freedom to choose your own doctors."

It's uncanny, isn't it?  Four years hence, the Republican ticket has managed to swipe this potent attack from Obama's arsenal because the president's own plan is now doing precisely -- and I mean precisely -- what he warned about four years ago.   Allow me to update and paraphrase:

This president has paid for part of his plan by making drastic cuts to Medicare. $716 Billion worth.  $716 Billion in Medicare cuts to pay for an ill-conceived, badly-thought-through Obamacare plan.  If you rely on Medicare, it will mean fewer places to get care, and less freedom to choose your own doctors.

Lefty "fact-checkers" are tripping over one another to declare this Romney/Ryan criticism of The One a "myth" (in a stunningly deceitful piece) and "half true," but Obama cannot escape the empirical fact that he has, in fact, cut hundreds of billions from a program "already facing a looking shortfall" in order to fund his unpopular, unaffordable and destructive Obamacare power grab.  Team Obama can scream "lie!" until they're blue in the face.  That won't change the reality that President Obama has admitted to these Medicare cuts on national television, and that his Deputy Campaign manager touted the cuts as a presidential "achievement" as recently as last week.

Of course if the Left was really concerned about Mitt Romney's association with Donald Trump they'd call on Barack Obama to give back that $1M donation he got from vile, disgusting, misogynist Bill Maher some time back. But not only are they not concerned about Romney's best interests, they also have no interest in talking about the issues that really matter to most Americans and Mitt Romney knows it:

Mitt Romney's refusal to repudiate Donald Trump sends a signal, both to Democrats and the voting public: With the nation's future at stake in this November's election, Romney will not accommodate calls that he disown supporters who make ill-considered, unpopular, or sometimes outrageous statements on matters not fundamental to the campaign.

Romney aides believe that cooperating with Democrats and media figures who are demanding a Trump disavowal would most certainly lead to more calls for more disavowals of other figures in the future -- leaving Romney spending as much time apologizing for his supporters as campaigning for president.  Team Romney views it as a silly and one-sided game designed to distract voters from the central issue of the race, which they remain convinced will be President Obama's handling of the economy.

By one-sided, they mean not only that Obama has not disavowed SuperPAC contributor Bill Maher for a number of Maher's statements that were particularly insulting to Republican women.  They also mean the press, with, as Team Romney sees it, questionable associations of its own. Has David Gregory, moderator of NBC's "Meet the Press," repudiated his colleague Al Sharpton, the MSNBC host with a decades-long record of incendiary statements and actions?  And has, say, the New York Times columnist Gail Collins repudiated her colleague Charles Blow, who once wrote to Romney, "Stick that in your magic underwear"?  Romney, his team believes, understands that the calls for him to repudiate Trump over the issue of birtherism -- and future calls to repudiate this or that supporter next week or next month over some other issue -- are at the core all about politics.

Another reason Romney is wary of such concessions is that John McCain tried them, and they didn't do him any good.  For example, in February 2008, a local Ohio radio host, Bill Cunningham, introduced McCain at a rally in Cincinnati.  In the introduction, Cunningham referred to Obama three times by his full name, which at the time some Republicans feared would open them up to unspecified accusations of intolerance. "At one point, the media will quit taking sides in this thing," Cunningham said, "and start covering Barack Hussein Obama."  McCain immediately apologized and disavowed Cunningham's remarks.  Eleven months later, of course, Obama took the oath of office, beginning, "I, Barack Hussein Obama…"  In retrospect, the Cunningham episode looked ridiculous.  But at the time, it contributed to an image of McCain in retreat.

So the bottom line is, Romney is determined to stay away from anything that distracts him from the main issue of the campaign.  In the end, the thinking goes, the heart of the campaign will always be the economy and Barack Obama's stewardship of it.  Repudiating, or not repudiating, Donald Trump won't change that.

John McCain Calls Obama An ‘Etch A Sketch Leader’ For 'Flexible' Comment

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) ripped President Obama as "a real 'Etch a Sketch' leader" for suggesting he could switch his policy on missile defense after the election.


In the midst of an often tense discussion between the United States and Russia over plans for a U.S.-led NATO European missile defense system, Obama was heard asking Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for more time on the subject and promising he will have “more flexibility” following the election in November. The comments came across a live mic the two leaders did not appear to realize was on.


"Pres Obama tells Medvedev he'll be more "flexible" on missile defense - that's a real "Etch A Sketch" leader!" McCain tweeted on Monday.


McCain, who is backing Mitt Romney for president in the GOP primary, was referring to comments a Romney adviser made that the GOP presidential candidate could shift his messaging from the GOP primary to the general election like an Etch a Sketch.


Democrats and Republican opponents of Romney pounced on that comment, but Obama on Monday suggested he could also change his position on an issue — after the general election, not a primary.


The hawkish McCain, who is ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has often strongly disagreed with and sometimes personally exchanged barbs with Russia’s prime minister and now President-elect Vladimir Putin. Medvedev, in the overheard conversation, promised to convey Obama’s message to Putin.


Last week, an adviser to the Romney presidential campaign said Mitt Romney could “reset” with voters for the general election if he became the GOP nominee, much “like an Etch A Sketch.” The remark was used as fodder for Romney’s opponents who call him a “flip-flopper” who will “say anything to get elected,” regardless of whether it means changing positions on the issues.

Lefty Ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer Bucks Liberal Orthodoxy, Says 'Citizens United Was Correct'

Friday on HBO during “Real Time with Bill Maher,” former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer broke with liberal tradition, saying the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was the right call.


Spitzer explained, as he has before, that the Court’s decision is consistent with with the First Amendment.


“Now, having said that, Bill, we rarely disagree. I am with the ACLU [American Civil Liberties Union] on this one. I think as a First Amendment principle, Citizens United was correct.”


He told Maher that there is no distinction between some shows on the airwaves — all owned by corporations — and a company’s participation in politics through paid advertising.


“Your show is owned by a corporation,” Spitzer said to Maher. “You have a First Amendment right. And so I don’t know how you distinguish between the New York Times editorial page, The Rachel Maddow Show, George [Stephanopoulos]‘s show — all owned by corporations.”


“The First Amendment,” he reminded Maher, says government “shall pass no law abridging the right of speech.”


“Doesn’t say by anybody. It says speech. I don’t care whose speech it is. The ACLU agrees with me, and Larry Lessig, great academic, on this. So this is a more textured issue. It has done horrific things to politics. But as a First Amendment issue, it’s a much more complicated issue.”

This should really be titled “Don’t Ask McCain Anything, Don’t Tell Him He’s Irrelevant.” John McCain’s stand on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell changes too frequently to document although both Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart have tried in the past. Many seem sick of hearing about Sarah Palin in the news lately, and McCain’s position of the week on this issue is just as tiresome. Palin and McCain are continually able to grab headlines though, no matter how trivial their statements are, precisely because a listless President Obama has left the media spotlight open for the taking.


Apparently McCain now thinks the current military system in place works, telling CNN’s Candy Crowley on State of the Union “I understand the point of view by the majority of the media, but the fact is [repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell] was a political promise made by an inexperienced president or candidate for president of the United States.” Well that charge came out of nowhere, but at least it is easier to comprehend than McCain’s past verbal gymnastics of debating with himself whether military leaders or the actual troops had more credibility to determine whether repeal should take place. McCain also continually stressed the “all-volunteer” nature of our forces, which hopefully was not a hint that if gays in the military do not like the current policy they should quit, and instead was a concern that repealing the policy might result in other members of the military quitting.


While the issue of repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is certainly open to debate, especially since changing policy in the midst of two wars might not be an effective strategy, the time for that debate should by now have come and gone, since military leaders have now commented and studies are ready to be presented to Congress this week. Therefore, now the Commander-in-Chief should be speaking authoritatively and finally resolving the issue. Instead, McCain is able to single-handedly keep the issue alive and can now dismiss the entire notion of any change whatsoever. Similarly, when Obama is silent about what his current national priorities are, he enables the always exciting Palin to capture the public’s daily fascination.

Angry Liberal Protestor Tries To Attack John McCain

John McCain has had some close calls in his political career so far, but his latest was probably a bit too close for comfort.

The former maverick and current Arizona senator was physically confronted by a protester at the conclusion of a televised debate with the challengers to his seat in the upcoming midterm elections (Democrat Rodney Glassman, Green Party candidate Jerry Joslyn and Libertarian candidate David Nolan).

Described as a peace activist and bearing a sign, the protester strode toward McCain on his way out of the KTVK television studios in Phoenix before McCain's security team tackled her. Still, she continued to chant "John McCain has got to go," NECN and KTVK networks reported.

These are the kind of people that Barack Obama speaks to when formulating his radically-Leftist agenda. But hey, maybe she didn't know that not only have Democrats been in charge for the last 4 years, but they're the ones who chose to continue the wars she's supposedly fighting against.

John McCain: Obama Pandering To Gay/Lesbian Vote

A radically-leftist senator turned radically-leftist President pandering to the gays? Shocker:

Sen. John McCain blasted Democrats for forcing a vote on the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." The Arizona senator wants to wait until the military completes a review of the repeal's potential impact on troops, according to a report at theatlantic.com. 


"November second is only a few days away," McCain said. "And the president of the United States made a commitment to the gay and lesbian community that he would make the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' one of his priorities."

"Whether you agree or disagree with this policy," McCain added, "the Senate should not be forced to make this decision now, before we've heard from our troops."

"Why would the majority leader and chairman want to bring up 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' then the DREAM Act, then secret holds, and then bring up the rest of the bill after the elections?" McCain asked. "One can draw the conclusion that this is all about elections, not the well being ... and battle effectiveness of the men and women laying it on the line today."

Democrats Used Stimulus Money To Study Monkeys With Cocaine Problems

Revelations that some of the stimulus money shelled out under President Obama’s Recovery Act has been squandered on less-than-deserving projects are nothing new. But now, thanks to GOP Sens. Tom Coburn and John McCain, a large portion of these allegedly unworthy ventures have been exposed and criticized in a handy-dandy list.

The report, called Summertime Blues, was released today on Coburn’s website. It outlines 100 projects that have received funding from the stimulus bill, but according to Coburn and McCain, have either not created new jobs, taken away job opportunities, or are just plain stupid. Some of them (like their number one example of a $554,763 window repair job for a vacant building) are rightfully irritating. But others, listed below according to their rank in the report, are almost too absurd to be mad about:

6) $1.9 million provided for California scientists to “capture, photograph, and analyze” ants.

25) $298,543 to predict the weather on other planets.

28) $144,541 for Wake Forest University scientists to give monkeys cocaine and see what happens. Even scarier: they’re having the monkeys administer the coke themselves. No word yet if part of the cost is allocated to rolled up hundred dollar bills.

36) $712,883 to build a machine that tells jokes (presumably funnier than the ones Coburn and McCain tried to crack in this report).

38) $294,958 on a program to reduce menopausal hot flashes with yoga classes.

39) $1.2 million for research how elderly people react to playing video games.

95) $180,935 to discover a better method for freezing rat sperm.

100) $112,437 for three high school students and three college students to study alcohol in laboratories (read: pound shots out of test tubes)

Sen. McCain has been using his Twitter to slowly release throughout the day his own list of the top ten “wasteful projects from the stimulus” with examples taken from the report.

John McCain Says He's No Maverick

Play word association with the name "John McCain" and "maverick" is certain to pop up.

After all, McCain's presidential campaign repeatedly dubbed the Arizona Republican "the original maverick" and late last month McCain's former running mate, Sarah Palin, urged a crowd in Tucson to "send the maverick back to the Senate!"

But there's only one problem: McCain, who faces a difficult primary challenge from the right, says he's no maverick.

"I never considered myself a maverick," the senator told Newsweek this week. "I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities."

McCain faces a primary challenge from former Rep. J.D. Hayworth and has come under criticism for being too moderate on a variety of issues, including immigration. Several leading Tea Party activists in Arizona have decided not to endorse McCain or Hayworth, criticizing both of their records while serving in Congress.

Despite what you've told us in the past....pander, John. Pander.

Bill Maher Says John McCain's Hanoi Experience Better Than Campaigning With Sarah Palin

Tasteless as usual, but conservatives can all take comfort in the fact that nobody even watches Maher anymore. As his last movie proved, he’s irrelevant.
