Mass. Senator Scott Brown Wins Special Election To U.S. Senate

In an epic upset in liberal Massachusetts, Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to defeat Democrat Martha Coakley in a U.S. Senate election Tuesday that left President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in doubt and marred the end of his first year in office.

The loss by the once-favored Coakley for the seat that the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy held for nearly half a century signaled big political problems for the president's party this fall when House, Senate and gubernatorial candidates are on the ballot nationwide.

More immediately, Brown will become the 41st Republican in the 100-member Senate, which could allow the GOP to block the president's health care legislation and the rest of Obama's agenda. Democrats needed Coakley to win for a 60th vote to thwart Republican filibusters

The people of Massachusetts, a state owned by liberals for some 40-odd years, have now sent a clear message to Barack Obama: "Hope & Change" is now officially dead. Congratulations to Senator Brown.

Nearly one year to the day after President Barack Obama was sworn into office as an agent of change, Senate candidates in the special election to succeed the late Edward M. Kennedy battled to the wire Monday in an election that threatened Obama's agenda and reflected voters' frustration.

Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown scoured the state for votes on the eve of the election, with the Democrats' 60-vote Senate supermajority at stake. The Democrats need all 60 votes in their caucus to overcome Republican procedural obstacles in the 100-seat Senate.

From a distance, the president made one last appeal in a TV ad for Coakley, his words reflecting how much was on the line for Democrats in the face of a surprisingly strong challenge by Republican Scott Brown in a state that hasn't elected a Republican senator since 1972.

"Every vote matters, every voice matters," Obama said in the ad that showed him campaigning with Coakley a day earlier. "We need you on Tuesday."

Obama needs Coakley, the state's attorney general, to win to deny Republicans the ability to block his initiatives -- specifically the near-complete health care plan -- with a crucial 41st Republican vote. A Coakley loss also would be an embarrassment, particularly because Obama has put so much political capital on the line.

Obama stans on the Left would like you to believe that despite being in office for almost a year now, Barack Obama still needs more time to deliver on his campaign promise of "hope and change". Ok fair enough. But if all Barry needs is more time then why do two-thirds of Americans still feel that this country is headed in the wrong direction?

Perhaps it's because Barack Obama has never shown himself to be a man interested in serving to the best interests of all Americans, only the immoral, corrupt white, liberal minions in his base. That's why unemployment rates are currently seeing record numbers (10% for the country, 16% for Blacks). That's why Barry's pushing for more government power and control for health care "reform" Americans don't want or need. That's why the President of the Left attempts to bully cap-and-trade legislation that will do nothing but destroy our economy. That's why he's overturned stem-cell legislation, wants to set free terrorists and give them Miranda rights. That's why he ignores continued slights to the black community at large, but has no problem helping the gays any chance he gets.

That said, a victory for Scott Brown today means much more than just a Senate seat, it's about Americans, even in a liberally-pwned state like Massachusetts, saying enough is enough to a man who only has the interests of one-fifth of Americans at heart. So regardless if Scott Brown wins or loses today, not only will Americans be taking a stand to liberal terrorism, but we'll begin to serve fair warning to Barack Obama that if he doesn't start serving to the best interests of all Americans, his presidency will end up as abysmal as Jimmy Carter's.

Joe Lieberman may be close to announcing his suppport for Massachusetts Senate Candidate Scott Brown. Citing the historical Healthcare Reform Bill as the main issue attracting Lieberman to endorse Brown's Campaign. Scott Brown is vehemently opposed to the proposed Healthcare Legislation.

Joe Lieberman has run against many of his Democratic Counterparts in the Senate over the so called Obamacare Health Care Reform Bill. Back in December, with the public option dead, Democrats revived an old proposal to expand Medicare, but Lieberman voted no. That plan was considered by a small percentage of liberals as a decent alternative to the public option leaving Lieberman at odds with Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid.

Speculation is such that if Lieberman were to endorse Scott Brown over the coming weekend that would most likely seal the defeat of Martha Coakley for Senate.

Latest Polling has Brown leading Coakley by a margin of 1 to 4 points. Momentum has shifted dramaticllay in the past week providing an intense national media attention. At stake is Helathcare Reform as well as further momentum to provide possible further shocking Election Results in this falls mid term elections.

Damn, this would be a major blow to Coakley and yet another kick in the rear to all the crazy loons on the Left who smeared Lieberman out of the Democrat party a few years ago. But hey, he's an independent now so he's beholden to no one. Go Joe!

Desperate Obama To Campaign For Martha Coaxley In Bid To Keep 'Ted Kennedy's Seat'

In a last-ditch effort to avert a debacle for the Democrats, the White House announced that President Obama would campaign here on Sunday for Martha Coakley, the Democratic Senate candidate, amid growing signs that the race for Edward M. Kennedy’s Senate seat has become too close to call.

With a new Suffolk University/7 News poll showing the race in a virtual tie, the announcement is fraught with political peril for Mr. Obama — particularly if Ms. Coakley loses the seat to the Republican, State Senator Scott Brown. Nonetheless, the president’s advisers concluded that Mr. Obama’s fortunes were already tied to the outcome of the race, so there was no reason to keep him away from Massachusetts.

The special election for the seat is on Tuesday. Several polls in recent days indicated that Ms. Coakley was losing an earlier lead, and the Suffolk poll showed Mr. Brown with 50 percent of the vote and Ms. Coakley with 46 percent, a result within the poll’s four percentage point margin of sampling error.

Mr. Obama has already urged Democrats to the polls in a video message and recorded telephone messages. But with his principal domestic policy initiative at stake — Mr. Brown has already said he would be the 41st and crucial vote against the health care bill — the president decided to risk embarrassment and hit the stump.

Wow, but I guess Barry was left with no choice but to help this chick out. Martha Coakley's taken this whole race for granted, making a half-hearted effort to campaign for a senator's seat because she's a Democrat. Too bad for her, we're in 2010, not 2009....liberals can't blame George W. Bush for everything anymore, Americans aren't seeing any "change" (much less "hope) and this race has a lot riding on the line, more specifically Barry's legacy. Only problem here is that someone may need to remind Barry that he's nowhere near as popular as he was a year ago. Indeed, the Teleprompter-In-Chief's reassured charm and smugness isn't working on Americans anymore, just ask outgoing governor Jon Corzine, who Barry pushed for heavily to get re-elected in liberal New Jersey last month, and still lost. Now Obama's faced with the risk of totally humiliating himself if somehow Scott Brown beats Coakley next week, his whole presidency goes in the mud, much less no more health care reform. Funny that.
