CBS Lies and Hypes Pope Francis As 'One of the Most Progressive Popes in Modern Times'

Just like the Godless Left: attempting to turn Pope Francis into one of their own:

Friday's CBS This Morning heralded how supposedly, "Pope Francis is already being described as one of the most progressive popes in modern times" after six months as Bishop of Rome. Charlie D'Agata asserted that the pontiff is "the friendly face of the Vatican, the people's pope", and played up how Francis' apparent "spirit of spontaneity, openness, and inclusion has courted controversy...It includes extending an olive branch to the gay community." On Wednesday, NBC Nightly News also underlined how Pope Francis seemingly "has changed the tone in a church plagued by the sex abuse scandal, emphasizing Church teaching on helping the poor and social justice....it's not just what the new pope says that's a sign of a changing church – it's what he does – getting close to people...enjoying the crowds that flock to him."

Anchor Charlie Rose introduced D'Agata's report by emphasizing the Pope's personal style: "Francis is bringing more big changes just by keeping things simple." The CBS correspondent picked up where Rose left off, and outlined the specific differences between Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI:

CHARLIE D'AGATA From his first day on the job, Pope Francis made it clear things were going to be different around the Vatican....At his inauguration, he decided against the bullet-proof, air-conditioned Popemobile, instead opting for the open-top version and making stops along the way....This is the friendly face of the Vatican, the people's pope.

Instead of moving into the lavish Apostolic Palace of his predecessor, Pope Benedict, Francis opted for an understated guesthouse room. He finished his first Mass at St. Peter's Square on an informal note...[and] stepped out of the church and into the street like any ordinary priest, catching nervous security guards off-guard....And when 1,400 Harley-Davidson motorcycles lined a route in Rome, Pope Francis came along and blessed them all and their owners.

Of course, the Apostolic Palace wasn't built by Benedict XVI, but a 16th century pontiff, Pope Sixtus V, and has been used by the successors of St. Peter for centuries. Also, while Pope Francis doesn't live in the papal apartments inside the palace, he still uses other facilities in the building.

D'Agata ended the segment with his "one of the most progressive popes in modern times" line. This labeling is beyond premature. Early in his papacy, Francis seconded the findings of a doctrinal critique of a dissenting coalition of American religious sisters, which was released during Pope Benedict's tenure. The left-wing Daily Beast decried the Argentinian pontiff for this move: "For all the renewal that Francis promises, the cold, hard reality is still that the Catholic Church is still one of the most misogynistic organizations around, no matter how popular the new pope might be."

Exactly a week earlier on CBS This Morning, correspondent Mark Phillips hyped Pope Francis' prayer and fasting vigil for peace in Syria as a "religious street protest". Phillips also all but hinted that the pontiff had "taken sides" with Russia's Vladimir Putin and against President Obama in the international debate over military strikes in the Middle Eastern country.

Pope Benedict XVI Denounces Gay Marriage As A ‘Manipulation Of Nature’

A great servant of God speaks the truth:

Pope Benedict XVI used the opportunity of his annual Christmas address to amp up his opposition to gay marriage Friday, calling homosexuality a “manipulation of nature.” He denounced people who “deny their nature” and “make it for themselves.” He claimed homosexuality was destroying the very “essence of the human creature.”

The Pope dedicated the speech to promoting “traditional family values” in the wake of campaigns to legalize same-sex marriage in France, the United States, Great Britain and elsewhere. He implied that the Vatican would be open to allying itself with other faiths who also oppose marriage equality.

During the speech, he referred to a study done by the Chief Rabbi of France, Gilles Bernheim, who called the campaign for marriage equality an “attack” on the traditional family. The Pope agreed, saying,

“There is no denying the crisis that threatens it [the family] to its foundations – especially in the Western world. When such commitment is repudiated, the key figures of human existence likewise vanish: father, mother, child – essential elements of the experience of being human are lost.”

Earlier that same week, the Pope said gay marriage, along with abortion, was a threat to world peace.

Liberal Networks Jokingly Highlight 'Unhate' Campaign Featuring Pope in Gay Kiss

The network morning shows on Thursday took a mostly light-hearted look at clothing company Benetton's ad campaign featuring the Pope kissing a Muslim cleric. The ads, which have now been pulled under legal pressure, were summarized by Good Morning America's Josh Elliott. He parroted, "It was part of Benetton 's Unhate campaign, challenging people to have the courage not to hate."


Elliott described the company's removal of the ad as "bowing to pressure from the Vatican." None of the networks, however, mentioned any possible negativity from Muslims. Only NBC's Today referred to them as "very, very controversial," with fourth hour co-host Hoda Kotb blanching, "Put your breakfast down. Because you're going to want to."


Kathie Lee Giffords added, "Speaking of cringing." Of course, this didn't happen until the 10am hour.


Earlier in the program, co-anchor Ann Curry joked, asking of Matt Lauer and Al Roker, "How do you guys feel about the picture of you two kissing?" Lauer quipped, "It's okay. Which one?"


The ads also featured pictures of Barack Obama kissing Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.


GMA's Elliott narrated as the pictures appeared onscreen, "German leader Angela Merkel, shown canoodling with french President Sarkozy. I believe that was a canoodle."


He did explain that the Vatican has called the Pope image a "grave act of disrespect," but mostly kept a light tone.

It's no secret that the immoral social liberals that dominate the mainstream media despite Christianity, so no wonder that they'd support a slime campaign like this.

Far-Left Actress Susan Sarandon Calls The Pope A "Nazi"

At the Hamptons International Film Festival over the weekend, Susan Sarandon was interviewed by actor Bob Balaban (trust us, you know him), hitting on topics ranging from Occupy Wall Street to the NYPD. But in an off-handed comment about giving a copy of the book, Dead Man Walking to the Pope, Sarandon quickly clarified that she meant the late John Paul II, not, “this Nazi we have now.” Newsday‘s Rafer Guzman reports that Balaban “gently tut-tutted,” but Sarandon repeated her remark.


On Fox News Tuesday, the Anti Defamation League’s Ken Jacobsen called the comments “unacceptable” and “inappropriate,” reasoning that it’s not just Catholics who should take offense to Sarandon’s remarks. “Our organization is not a Catholic organization, but we’re offended by this,” Jacobsen said. “It’s offensive to those who died in the Holocaust and it’s also offensive for those who care about having civil discussion in our current society.”


Pope Benedict XVI grew up in Germany and was forced as a child, along with every other 14 year-old, to enroll in the Hitler Youth. But he never joined the Nazi party and never attended any meetings. In fact, he abandoned the organization at the first chance. Catholic League President Bill Donohue released a statement on Tuesday denouncing Sarandon’s comments:


“Susan Sarandon’s ignorance is willful: those who have hatred in their veins are not interested in the truth.”


Donohue later, in an interview with E!’s Marianne Garvey and Sharareh Drury, ratcheted the language up a notch. “She’s a despicable person to make these kinds of despicable remarks,” he said. Donohue added the Catholic League won’t even ask Sarandon for an apology because, “she is ignorant and full of hatred to the Catholic Church.” He’s not alone in his sentiment. In a non-scientific poll on TMZ.com, 75% of the 100,000-plus people responding believed Sarandon to be ignorant.

The church on Wednesday presented its highest-level official response yet to one of the most explosive recent revelations regarding sex abuse — a story the Times broke on the church's decision in the 1990s not to defrock a Wisconsin priest accused of molesting deaf boys.

It was the latest in a series of attacks on the press: Last week, L'Osservatore Romano, denounced what it said was a "clear and despicable intention" by the media to strike at Benedict "at any cost."

In the article posted Wednesday on the Vatican's Web site, Cardinal William Levada, head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, wrote: "I am not proud of America's newspaper of record, the New York Times, as a paragon of fairness."

Levada, an American, said the newspaper wrongly used the case of the Rev. Lawrence Murphy to find fault in Benedict's handling of abuse cases.

A Times spokeswoman defended the articles and said no one has cast doubt on the reported facts.

"The allegations of abuse within the Catholic church are a serious subject, as the Vatican has acknowledged on many occasions," said Diane McNulty. "Any role the current pope may have played in responding to those allegations over the years is a significant aspect of this story."

Listen, the Pope is the head of the Catholic church, therefore yes, he deserves some blame for longstanding child abuse within the faith--the buck stops with him and he can't run from that. But it's just like the Times and the rest of the liberal media (which less and less folks are reading, wonder why?) to use this scandal to not only degrade the Pope, but paint the entire church as nothing but a sex-crazed, orgy with leadership that looks the other way.

Bottom line, the Catholic church needs to enforce a strict One-Strike-You're-Out rule on priests caught abusing boys and they need to do a better job on working with local police to make sure these perverts with robes get locked up. Then too, change the damn rule already and let priests get married--it's not only practical in today's times, but it makes common sense and it'll help to rid the church of sexual abuse. I don't believe for a second that most Catholic priests molest boys. I'd think that most Catholics feel the same, but that doesn't mean that there still isn't a problem within the church that needs to be rectified immediately. And as busy and old as the Pope is, he needs to make sex abuse a priority. However, leave it to the liberal media with their bias and it's no surprise that they'd use this scandal to feed their own, personal hate for religion.

Pope Knocked Down By Crazy Woman At Christmas Mass

A woman jumped a barrier at the start of Christmas Eve Mass at St. Peter's Basilica and knocked down the pope, briefly disrupting ceremonies.

Screams erupted from onlooking worshippers when the woman ran toward Pope Benedict XVI and grabbed onto his vestments as he walked down the main aisle of the church, video footage showed.

He was quickly helped to his feet by his aides -- prompting cheers from the crowd -- and the service was resumed, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told CNN.

The woman was removed by Vatican guards, Lombardi said.

John Allen, senior Vatican analyst for CNN, said such security breaches aren't uncommon.

"As compared to say, the president of the United States, the security membrane around the pope is pretty thin and fairly permeable," he said, citing similar past incidents, including one that happened last Christmas Eve.

She must be a liberal.

Visiting US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi will have an audience with Pope Benedict XVI during her weeklong visit to Italy, a Vatican official said Monday.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, the official told AFP, saying it would likely occur after the pope's weekly general audience.

Pelosi, who describes herself as an "ardent" Catholic while advocating reproductive rights, will be the highest-ranking US official to see the pope since President Barack Obama took office last month.

The new Democratic administration is at odds with the Vatican over abortion, stemcell research and other bioethical issues.

Senior Vatican officials slammed Obama's rapid overturning of a ban on US government funding for family planning groups around the world that carry out or facilitate abortions.

Here's hoping the Pope calls out our idiot Speaker of the House (and Catholic) on her contradictions regarding Catholic faith that includes supporting abortion, "independent woman's rights" (i.e. women who choose to have kids without a dad) and gay marriage. Benedict has certainly shown, during his short term, an ability to call it like he sees it. Let's hope he gives Nancy P. a stern lecture or two for being an unabashed hypocrite when it comes to her religion.

I refuse to believe that this apology is genuine because Maher's a slimeball and a Christophobic like that. Then too he could be saying sorry only because he's afraid of losing his show (not like that hasn't happened before thanks to Maher's stupidity) amidst the suits at HBO pressuring him to take back his hateful remarks. Either way, once an a-hole, always an a-hole:

Comedian Bill Maher apologized on his HBO show Friday night for accusing Pope Benedict XVI of being a Nazi. After some delay, the Catholic League reports, Maher acknowledged that Joseph Ratzinger as a young man was forced to join the Hitler Youth organization and was not sympathetic to the Nazi ideology.

Maher still insisted that if a CEO were in charge of an institution that housed child molesters, he would be fired.

Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, responded to Maher’s broadcast apology. “We accept Maher's apology for accusing the pope of being a Nazi. Too bad he didn't stop there. For him to suggest that Pope Benedict XVI was in charge of policing molesters, and failed in doing so, is patently absurd,” Donohue said.
