Andrew Cuomo: Pro-life People Have “No Place in the State of New York”

Hopefully, this smug speech comes back to bite him if he ever decides to run for POTUS, much less re-election as governor of New York:

Forty-eight percent of Americans and all priests and nuns are no longer welcome in the Empire State, according to its governor. Delivering a monologue on Republicans with all the hyperbole of an MSNBC anchor and none of the charm, Cuomo offered this:

You have a schism within the Republican Party. … They’re searching to define their soul, that’s what’s going on. Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party? That’s what they’re trying to figure out. It’s a mirror of what’s going on in Washington. The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans. It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans.

… You’re seeing that play out in New York. … The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.

If they’re moderate Republicans like in the Senate right now, who control the Senate — moderate Republicans have a place in their state. George Pataki was governor of this state as a moderate Republican; but not what you’re hearing from them on the far right.”

He at least uses the liberal pejoratives for those who are pro-2nd Amendment and oppose gay marriage. “Right to life” he uses as if it’s offensive on its face. As Life News notes, he leans heavily on the President Barack tactic to simply declare everyone who disagrees with your positions in the slightest “extreme,” even if many of those people are your constituents. But how extreme is the pro-life position, even in a blue state like New York? Unlike, say, gay marriage, the polling on abortion restrictions, particularly second and third trimesters, regularly and overwhelmingly favors the more conservative position.

Cuomo spent much of 2013 trying to pass a Reproductive Health Act that moved the opposite direction of abortion legislation in states like Texas and North Carolina. He took from the Dr. Gosnell’s House of Horrors story that, hey, who shouldn’t be able to perform abortions, huh? The legislation, which was stuck into a broader Women’s Equality Act, stalled in the Senate because of its abortion provisions and under strong fire from the state’s bishops, who apparently are also no longer welcome in New York.

One 2013 poll, commissioned by the Chiaroscuro Foundation found, just as in the rest of the country, though many consider themselves pro-choice, they are very open to restrictions to abortion in the second and third trimesters and think abortions are already accessible enough in their state. A few of the questions lean on the prejudicial, but the bent of the electorate is clear:

The findings conclude that an overwhelming majority of New Yorkers support sensible restrictions on abortions, with eighty percent (80%) opposing unlimited abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy and seventy-five percent (75%) opposing changes in current law so that someone other than a doctor can perform an abortion.”

Charlie Sheen's porn star girlfriend Brett Rossi is busy taking over his life for a while - according to reports, the young blonde wants Charlie to evict his ex-wife Denise Richards and their children from their home.

The 'Anger Management' star's lover Brett Rossi is reportedly so jealous of his former spouse that she wants him to kick her out of the house she lives in, but he owns, in a gated community in California.

Denise has lived in the posh pad with daughters Sam, nine, and Lola, eight - who she has with Charlie - and her adopted two-year-old daughter Eloise, for over a year because it is close to her children's school.

A source close to Brett told RadarOnline.com: ''Brett wants Denise out of the neighbourhood because she is insanely jealous of her.

''She complains that whenever she leaves the gated community, she is forced to drive by Denise's house, and she just doesn't like it.''

Charlie fell out with Denise last month after claiming she deliberately took the children away from him over the festive holiday so they couldn't spend Christmas with him.

However, it is believed Denise, 42, is aware that 48-year-old Charlie - who she divorced in 2006 - wants her out of the property he owns, though he didn't tell her himself.

The source added: ''Charlie's people told Denise he wants her out, and he didn't tell her because they aren't talking at the moment.''

Charlie - who also has a grown-up daughter Cassandra from a previous relationship and four-year-old twins Bob and Max with third wife Brooke Mueller - recently admitted he had pretended he had made Brett his fourth wife in order to give Denise ''a stroke''.

Black TV Star Tamera Mowry Called ‘White Man’s Whore’ over Marriage to Fox News Reporter

Of course, it's also hypocritical white, liberal writers like Mediaite's Tommy Christopher who steadily contribute to this kind of double-standards for so-called "racial tolerance":

Sister Sister star Tamera Mowry tearfully told Oprah Winfrey’s network that her marriage to Fox News correspondent Adam Housely had earned her scores of racially-tinged abuse on Twitter and elsewhere.

“See, this is where I get emotional, because it’s hurtful,” Mowry said on Oprah: Where Are They Now.

“Because when my husband and I are so openly—we’re fine with showing love. Love. But people choose to look past love and spew hate. That’s what hurts me, because I’ve never experienced so much hate ever in my life, ever.”

“I get called ‘white man’s whore,’” she said. “The new one was ‘back in the day you cost $300, but now you’re giving it to him for free.’”

Tamera starred with her identical sister in Sister, Sister, a 1990s sitcom, and recently in a reality show on the Style Network about the twins’ homelives, in which Housely appeared. She married Housely, an LA-based correspondent, in 2011. Her sister married actor Cory Hardrict, and Tamera said one of the most hurtful comments she’d received contrasted their husbands’ race.

“They say, ‘Oh, Tia’s a true black woman because she married a black man,’” Tamera said. “Oh—I’m less of a black person because I married white?”

Will Lawrence O’Donnell Have to Answer for Anti-Christie Ad Like Fox & Friends Did for Anti-Obama Ad?

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell proudly announced on Wednesday night that he “wrote” a hard-hitting, campaign-style political advertisement attacking Chris Christie. The ad, which he broadcast on his program, The Last Word, uses the New Jersey governor’s own words against him — a common practice in campaign ads. “Don’t let Christie embarrass and humiliate America,” the ad’s narrator urges the audience.


What’s more, O’Donnell closed his program with instructions for his audience on how to produce similar anti-Christie ads on their own. He even provided them with some helpful clips which could facilitate the creation of those ads. 

Harmless, right? Not so much. 

In May of 2012, Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends found themselves in hot water when the program produced and aired their own campaign-style ad targeting President Barack Obama. The 4-minute commercial was roundly criticized by media observers and prompted Fox News Channel’s Executive Vice President of Programming, Bill Shine, to issue a statement insisting that the ad was “was created by an associate producer and was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network.”

The ad prompted commentary and news reports from outlets like CBS News, ABC News, The Hollywood Reporter, The Huffington Post, The Guardian, Salon, and Mediaite asking whether Fox had crossed a line when they aired what many legitimately considered a pro-Republican attack ad. 

Conservative media critics like HotAir’s Ed Morrissey and The Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik came out strongly against the move by Fox. Zurawik said the video package “resembled propaganda films from 1930s Europe more than it did responsible TV politics of today.”

Even the White House got involved. “White House spokesman Jay Carney had a stern conversation with Michael Clemente, a top executive at Fox News, about the video,” The Huffington Post reported.

“Carney said that ‘Fox and Friends’ had gone much too far.”

Following a firestorm of controversy, Fox announced that the associate producer responsible for the ad was leaving for CNN. 

Forgetting the lessons of that incident, O’Donnell fell into a similar trap. But without the tempo of a political campaign to inspire a backlash against the host’s decision to, by his own admission, write and air an anti-Christie ad, will this move result in any consequences for MSNBC and O’Donnell?

The Media’s Chris Christie Hysteria

What a bizarre spectacle. Assuming he did not lie during his marathon news conference last week, the feeding frenzy surrounding New Jersey governor Chris Christie will be remembered as one of those incredibly odd moments of elite journalistic hysteria that are difficult to explain to people who weren’t there or didn’t get it. 

I’m not referring to the scandal itself; that’s easy enough to understand. What Christie’s team did was outrageous and deserves as much foofaraw and brouhaha as the New Jersey media can muster. 

What’s harder to grok is the hysteria at the national level. 

For starters, there have been countless greater outrages at the state level that have received far less national coverage. (Indeed, there have been national scandals under President Obama that have received less intense national coverage.) Since 1961, four Illinois governors have ended up in jail, and with the exception of Rod Blagojevich, few have received comparable media attention. 

Meet the Press dedicated 33 minutes to the New Jersey scandal, including a grilling of Reince Priebus, head of the Republican National Committee, as if Christie were Nixon during Watergate (a comparison ostensibly serious people have made). 

Many conservatives see liberal media bias in all this. But that diagnosis misses the fact that this was the 50th anniversary of the War on Poverty, giving producers ample opportunity to advance a liberal agenda. Moreover, Christie is actually quite popular in establishment media circles — the sort of politician Sunday-show liberals insist America needs more of. He’s also quite unpopular in many quarters of the Right. 

If there is a secret left-wing cabal interested solely in advancing the liberal cause through the media, the Christie auto-da-fé was a missed opportunity. 

A more plausible partial explanation is partisan bias, which can be hard to distinguish from liberal bias in many outlets since it tends to favor Democrats. The key difference is that partisan bias focuses more on the political interests of specific politicians or a party generally. 

Feeding-frenzy defenders insist the closure of lanes on the George Washington Bridge is special because innocent constituents were deliberately inconvenienced for partisan purposes. That’s surely what makes this scandalous, but it hardly makes it unique. The Obama administration employed similar tactics during the sequester and the government shutdown. Closing the open-air World War II Memorial, furloughing air-traffic controllers, and other efforts were deliberate attempts to maximize the pain of innocents for political benefit. The tactic worked, but that’s not a justification for it, is it? 

The allegation that the Obama administration used the IRS to target political opponents is far more explosive (similar tactics were at the core of the Nixon impeachment effort). And, unlike Christie’s claims of what he knew and when, similar White House denials haven’t held up. 

And in the same week the media succumbed to St. Vitus’s dance over Christie’s alleged “cover-up,” it was revealed that the Department of Justice had appointed an Obama donor from the civil-rights division, instead of the public-integrity division, to investigate the IRS scandal. The department now says it would be unlawful to remove her from the assignment because of her political views. That’s untrue. No hysteria there. 

Christie is widely seen as a threat to whomever the Democratic nominee will be. Unlike some recent GOP nominees, who struggled to be merely lifelike, Christie has an authenticity and charisma most national Republicans lack. As ABC’s Jonathan Karl put it on This Week, Christie is “the most intriguing and colorful person” in American politics. 

That probably explains the overkill as much as anything. Christie is new, exciting, and interesting in ways Obama once was. The difference is that when Obama was new and exciting, the media were biased in every regard and heroically skeptical of any Obama wrongdoing. “We thought he was going to be . . . the next messiah,” Barbara Walters recently said. The cult of personality has diminished but the partisan skepticism remains. 

Christie, like most Republicans, never benefited from such skepticism, and never will.

Fox’s Dr. Keith Ablow: ‘I Am Not Convinced’ Being Transgender Is Real

Dr. Keith Ablow wrote a provocative column for FoxNews.com Wednesday about gender identity and admitting he’s not convinced that being transgender is a real sexual identity. He said that allowing people to make a “choice” about their identity is “profoundly destructive, psychologically,” to all students, not just those who self-identify as transgender. 

Ablow took issue with a law that took effect in California on January 1st that allowed transgender students access to restrooms and locker rooms based on their personal sexual identities. Ablow takes a mocking tone to the idea that a law is on the books based on what students “feel” or “believe” they are, and said that if teachers have to explain sexual identity and what it means to be transgender to students, it would “do harm to their own developing sense of self by suggesting to them that their gender is fluid.” 

I expect to continue getting death threats and calls for me to be fired from my academic teaching position for saying so (because I have endured both): I believe that children have enough to deal with as they struggle to feel comfortable with their bodies, with the notion of privacy and with later changes involving puberty without urging them to grapple with the notion that their souls may have been born into the wrong bodies… 

I am not convinced by any science I can find that people with definitively male DNA and definitively male anatomy can actually be locked in a cruel joke of nature because they are actually female. 

He concludes that by supporting and signing this legislation, “Governor Jerry Brown is a threat to children in California and a threat to children everywhere.”

Supreme Court to Hear Case on Obama's Disputed NLRB Appointments

The Supreme Court on Monday is set to hear a bitter dispute between Republicans and the White House over whether President Obama exceeded his authority when appointing members to the National Labor Relations Board during a congressional recess. 

The justices' decision could cast a legal cloud over hundreds of rulings by the board, which resolves complaints of unfair labor practices and conducts elections for labor union representation. 

The case, NLRB v. Noel Canning, centers around recess appointments Obama made to the labor board. In January 2012, Obama appointed three members to the board when the Senate was on break. Presidents can circumvent required Senate approval if the chamber is on recess, a move Obama deemed necessary because of repeated GOP blocks of his nominations to the panel. 

Republicans worried the Obama appointees had a pro-union bias. But the White House said the GOP block was done solely for political reasons. 

Then in February 2012 the NLRB ruled against Noel Canning (part of Noel Corp.), of Yakima, Wash., in a dispute with the Teamsters union. The company, aided by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, challenged the decision, arguing that the president's January appointments to the NLRB were invalid and thus the board didn't have the necessary quorum to resolve its dispute. 

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled in favor of Canning, saying Obama violated the law when he bypassed the Senate. The court said recess appointments are constitutional only if the vacancies and appointments occur in between official sessions of Congress. 

The NLRB appealed, and the Supreme Court took up the case. 

If the high court rules against the labor board, a minimum of 100 NRLB decisions -- and possibly more -- made by the recess-appointed members could be deemed invalid.

Bill O’Reilly: Chris Christie’s the Biggest Threat the Democrats Face, So They’re Going to Town on Him

Bill O’Reilly has no doubts about why Chris Christie is being targeted so strongly in the media and especially by Democrats: he is the “biggest threat” to the left, and so “the politics of destruction” are being thrown into overdrive in order to delegitimize him with “BridgeGate” and thereby ensuring he is not a serious challenger to Hillary Clinton in 2016. O’Reilly didn’t say the scandal is irrelevant, but he did say it’s very much overblown. 

O’Reilly argued that Mitt Romney lost in 2012 because he was too much of a “gentleman” and wasn’t tough enough on issues like Benghazi, and so the tough Christie is “a threat to the power of the Democratic party” because of his reputation for blunt honesty. Ans so, he is being “marginalized” by Democrats “using his bluster against him.” 

O’Reilly said, “If you are passionate and state your position firmly and flamboyantly… you become a big target.” He also noted that Democrats are more nervous about Christie than they are about more conservative potential candidates.

1,687,000 Fewer Americans Have Jobs Today Than 6 Years Ago

But hey, there's a way more important Chris Christie "Bridgegate" scandal to talk about:

Although the number of people who had jobs in the United States increased by 143,000 from November to December, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, that still left 1,687,000 fewer Americans holding jobs than held jobs six years ago in December 2007—the month the last recession began. 

In November, 144,443,000 Americans were employed, said BLS. In December, 144,586,000 held jobs—representing a one-month increase of 143,000. 

However, the 144,586,000 Americans who had jobs in December 2013 was still 1,687,000 less than the 146,273,000 who held jobs six years ago in December 2007. 

In fact, the 144,586,000 Americans who had jobs this December was still 1,384,000 less than the 145,970,000 who held jobs seven years ago in December 2006. 

As far back as August 2006, more Americans had jobs (144,625,000) than this December. 

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the last recession began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009.  By June 2009, the number Americans employed had dropped to 140,009,000 Americans who held jobs. That was 6,369,000 below the peak employment of 146,378,000 the nation hit in January 2008.

Nadya “Octo-Mom” Suleman Slapped With Felony Welfare Fraud Charges After Government Probe Into Her Earnings

Nadya “Octo-Mom” Suleman was charged with three felony counts of welfare fraud on Jan. 6 and faces nearly six years in prison if convicted, RadarOnline.com is reporting. 

The charges come on the heels of Radar’s exclusive report revealing financial records in which the single mother-of-14 was shown to have earned much more than legally allowed for her to also be collecting welfare. 

Suleman is capped at pocketing $119,000 in a calendar year, but financial records showed she took home $150,248.77 in 2012. 

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Suleman failed to report nearly $30,000 in earnings while raking in the public assistance in 2013. 

The D.A. charged Octo-Mom with two counts of perjury by false application and one count of aid by misrepresentation, which could land her in the slammer for a maximum of five years and eight months if convicted.
