Liberal Media Celebrate State-funded 'Queer History of Fashion' Exhibit

The Daily Beast is celebrating a new exhibit on “A Queer History of Fashion: From the Closet to the Catwalk.” Naturally, this is funded by the New York Council on the Humanities and the New York State Council on the Arts, “with the support of Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.”

Here’s more government-subsidized liberalism, for the museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology. Peter Davis writes “One of the sweetest moments in the show is a celebration of the historical gay marriage rulings.”

There are two brides together and two grooms holding hands. One of the grooms represented is CFDA President Steven Kolb, who married his partner Jay Inkpen in December 2012. “I was very surprised but flattered when Valerie asked me to borrow our suits,” Kolb says, adding: “queer style is ultimately an expression of freedom to love and be who you are."

The exhibit’s also celebrated in two New York Times articles. Guy Trebay wrote: “In the age of gay marriage, it can seem almost implausible that designers like Christian Dior, Bill Blass, Halston and countless others spent their professional lives in the closet, or that homophobia was rampant in a field where stereotypes have long held that many creative types were gay.”
At least these celebrations didn't drag in the usual  Reagan-callously-ignored-AIDS myths.

Thanks to Barack Obama's Godless, social agenda, the tenets of traditional values and morals that define Christianity (and which this country was found on) are being replaced by a decadent lifestyle that breeds debauchery and moral bankruptcy. Any wonder why a 10-year-old student isn't allowed to choose God as her "idol"? Any wonder why homeschooling and charter schools are becoming more and more popular with parents fed up with the Godless, liberal indoctrination found in today's public schools?

She said her daughter was told to start over and pick another idol.

“But my teacher said I couldn’t write about God. She said It has something to do with God and God can’t be my idol,” said Shead about what her daughter told her.

Erin told her mother she was also not allowed to leave the assignment about God at school, that it must go home.

On the second try, Erin chose Michael Jackson, which was acceptable.

“How can you tell this baby, that’s a Christian, what she can say and what she can’t say?”

Shead took her concerns to the school principal at Lucy Elementary Wednesday morning.

“Can you show me this in a policy where this child cannot talk about God on paper,” asked Shead.

We reached out to Shelby County Schools Wednesday.

Spokesman Christian Ross said teachers can’t promote religion, but there is not a policy preventing students from writing assignments about any God or religion.

School officials wouldn’t say what would be done to correct the situation, since it appears the teacher was in the wrong.

Ross said they wouldn’t comment out of respect for the student’s privacy.

Shead said she is waiting to hear from the principal, “I told the principal this morning, would it be better if she wrote about Ellen Degeneres? Of course there was no comment.”

UPDATED RESPONSE FROM SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS ON 9/12:
“Shelby County Schools respects the moral and religious beliefs of all students and families. While teachers and staff are not permitted to promote religion in the classroom, no laws or district policies allow teachers to limit students’ expression of religious beliefs in their personal classwork. This was a regrettable misunderstanding, and we as educators must learn from it. The principal and teacher have had a positive and productive conversation with the family, and we are pleased this matter is being addressed at the school level. The district will not be discussing this matter further in the media.”

Idiot College Students Chase David Petraeus and Shout at Him on First Day of Class

Recent video shows former CIA director David Petraeus being chased down a New York City street by student activists at the City University of New York.

As BusinessInsider reported, Petraeus was on the way to teaching his first class at CUNY’s honors college, entitled “Are We on the Threshold of the North American Decade?” He took on the teaching gig as part of rehabilitating his image following an extramarital affair scandal that led to his resignation from the CIA.

The students can be heard yelling “War criminal!” at the retired military officer who played a key role in the “counterinsurgency” strategy of the Iraq War. “Every class, David!” the students shout, suggesting they plan to protest him on a weekly basis, before every lecture.

“Petraeus out of CUNY” and “Fascist” were some of the other chants.

At one point, Petraeus and two of the students dart off into the middle of a street with an oncoming bus honking. Despite the repeated expletives hurled his way, the former general never once responded to the crowd.

Despite Best Efforts Of Far-Left Press, No "First Gay Mayor" Of New York City

For the far-Left, New York press endorsing Christine Quinn for Democrat candidate to be mayor wasn't about her many scandals or her lying to the city's voters while steamrolling the democratic process to enable Mayor Michael Bloomberg's third term, it was about trying to make "history" and elect the "first lesbian mayor" of NYC. Too bad their farce blew up in their face:

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who was once considered the heir to Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s throne, ended her campaign for mayor on Tuesday night, coming in a distant third place in the polls.

“I want to congratulate my opponents Bill Thompson and Bill de Blasio on a hard-earned victory” an emotional Ms. Quinn told enthusiastic supports gathered at the swanky Dream Hotel in Chelsea, where the only decoration was a single “Christine Quinn for New York” banner hung above a simple stage.

“This was a hard-fought race, we took a lot of knocks, we were up against a lot off odds, but I am proud of the race we all ran,” she said. “There’s a young girl out there who was inspired by the thought of New York’s first woman mayor and said to herself, ‘You know what? I can do that.’”

The mood in the room was somber throughout the night as exit polls made clear that Ms. Quinn had been eclipsed by Bill de Blasio, the public advocate, whose campaign had soared from behind in the final weeks, promising a break from the Bloomberg years.

The outcome was a stunning blow for Ms. Quinn, who spent the first months of the race as the undisputed front-runner, nearly approaching the crucial 40 percent that she would have needed to win without a runoff.

But Ms. Quinn’s team and surrogates acknowledged Tuesday that they had miscalculated the growing frustrations with the current administration and desire to move in a new direction–a sentiment Mr. de Blasio seized early on. As the primary electorate skewed left, Ms. Quinn dug in her heels on positions like supporting Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and seemed reluctant to tout the historic status of her candidacy as the potential first female and openly gay mayor.

The Blood of Christians on Barack Obama's Hands

Thirty-five miles northeast of Damascus is a small Christian village built into the mountains of Syria. Until yesterday, the most interesting thing about this town called Maaloula was that its 6,000 residents are among the last in the world who still speak Aramaic – the language Christ spoke as a boy in a carpentry shop, as man giving a sermon from a mount, and on the eve of his death and resurrection when he broke bread and poured wine and said, “This is my body…. This is my blood.”

Yesterday, according to reports by eyewitnesses, the Christians of Maaloula were attacked by a vicious army with no respect for human life and a special hatred for the Christians it calls infidels. They were driven from their homes. They were murdered in their streets. 

Based on the recent rhetoric from President Obama and his administration, you might at first assume that the Syrian dictator and his army were responsible for this hate crime against the innocent Aramaic-speaking Christians of Maaloula. But the truth is quite the contrary. As has been the case in many prior attacks on Syria’s Christian minority, the culprits were al-Qaeda-linked rebels – the very same rebels Mr. Obama is preparing to help by bombing the Assad regime.

This past Sunday, as President Obama and his administration ratcheted up the usual media spin machine to promote their agenda, I was hoping pastors across the United States would stand up with moral courage and tell their congregations the truth about the ethnic cleansing of Christians in Syria. I was hoping that they would ratchet up the calls for the truth about who our enemies are. However, this administration and their media puppets have done such a good job of confusing the situation, many of those pastors have no idea who our enemy is. 

Let’s be clear: Our greatest enemy in the world is al Qaeda. It’s the same al Qaeda that attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, that blew up American embassies in Africa in 1998, that attacked the U.S.S. Cole in 2000, and that murdered 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001. It’s the same al Qaeda that fought us in Iraq and that is still fighting us in Afghanistan.

Even Liberal Radio Host Bill Press Knows That Lawrence O'Donnell Is An 'A-Hole'

Liberal radio host Bill Press blasted MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell on Tuesday morning in the wake of his contentious interview with New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner. Press said that O’Donnell’s questions, as well as the booking itself, made no sense. He added that O’Donnell behaved like an “a-hole” during his prime time probing of Weiner.


“What is wrong with you?” O’Donnell asked Weiner on Monday night. “What is wrong with you that you cannot seem to imagine a life without elected office?”

“I think Lawrence O’Donnell proved to be a real a-hole with that question,” Press said after playing a portion of Monday night’s interview on his radio program. 

“Why even book Anthony Weiner? Everybody knows he’s a joke. Everybody knows he’s not going to win,” Press continued.

He added that the question he posed to Weiner could be asked of virtually every politician who cycles in and out of elective office, including Hillary Clinton. 

“Lawrence O’Donnell, shame on you,” Press concluded.

Australian Conservatives Oust Left-Wing Government

Australia's incoming Prime Minister Tony Abbott said his conservative administration would move quickly to cut taxes and take swift action to boost the slowing economy as a long mining boom fades.

Sticking closely to the campaign script that won him Saturday's national elections, Mr. Abbott also used his first day as prime minister-elect to restate his promise to scrap an unpopular tax on carbon emissions and to curb the rising tide of asylum seekers. 

Australia elected its first conservative government in six years this weekend, the Liberal National coalition, which handed Kevin Rudd's Labor party its heaviest defeat in decades. The country faces a decelerating economy as the resources boom, fed by industrializing Asia's demand for its raw materials, begins to cool.

"There is border security, there's economic security, and the people expect quite rightly that the incoming government will build a strong and prosperous economy," Mr. Abbott said in a statement Sunday after a briefing from top civil servants. "A very early item of business is scrapping the carbon tax." 

Mr. Abbott has pledged to spend billions on constructing new roads to stimulate growth, even while seeking ways to cut government spending and pay down debt as promised in the election campaign. 

The Liberal Nationals also promised to dispose of the mining tax — a levy first introduced by Mr. Rudd that sought to curb the "excessive" profits of some iron-ore and coal producers. Mr. Abbott also vowed to help the nation's struggling manufacturers by peeling back other taxes and corporate bureaucracy. 

Still, reviving the economy may prove more difficult than Mr. Abbott, who has sought to appeal to voters by mixing populism with traditional conservative values, would have liked. 

Already, economic growth has cooled from the rampant pace set at the height of the mining boom, and is expected to moderate further as China's demand for bulk commodities wanes in tune with its slowdown.

Official figures show Australia's $1.5 trillion economy expanded by 2.6% in the second quarter from a year earlier, compared with 3.7% growth in the same quarter of 2012 and 4.4% in the first quarter of that year.

Unemployment Dips to 7.3 Percent, Only 63% of Americans are in Labor Force

Americans are participating in the workforce at the lowest level in 35 years, according to government data released Friday, as lackluster job growth fails to offset the droves of people who have given up looking for work.

According to the Labor Department, the economy added a disappointing 169,000 jobs in August. In addition, the government lowered its estimate of the number of jobs created in June and July by 74,000 positions. 

The grinding pace of recovery has hollowed out the workforce. Government data showed that only 63.2 percent of working-age Americans have a job or are looking for one, the lowest proportion since 1978.

Nearly 90 million people are now considered out of the labor force, up 1.7 million from August 2012. 

“We just don’t see this consistent, strong job market that’s really going to entice people to go back into it,” said Michael Evangelist, policy analyst at the National Employment Law Project. “You don’t want people falling out of the labor force where they’re not able to contribute and not able to find work.” 

Carol Petty, 54, is among those hanging in the balance. She lost her job as a paralegal in Nevada last summer and has struggled to find work since. Petty moved to California to be near her family and hoped she would find a better job market. She sends out as many as 10 résumés a week and knows she is unlikely to find another position that pays her old salary of $55,100 a year. 

She said others in her position have given up seeking work. The question for Petty — and the broader economy — is how long people like her will be able to hold on.

“I’m just so stubborn,” she said. “I will do anything.” 

There are demographic trends underlying the decline in the labor force. For much of the past generation, growing numbers of working women boosted its size, but that effect has leveled off. Meanwhile, the first wave of baby boomers is reaching retirement age, while younger workers are staying in school longer before looking for their first job.
