Jon Stewart Laughs in Nancy Pelosi’s Face After She Admits She Doesn’t Know Why Obamacare Site Failed

House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sat down with The Daily Show host Jon Stewart on Thursday for a contentious interview. The interview became tense when Stewart attempted to get Pelosi to explain why government appears to function so poorly to the outside observer. When Pelosi attempted to explain why this was the case, Stewart became even more agitated.


“Right now, we have a school of thought in the House Republican caucus that is anti-government, anti-science, anti-Obama,” Pelosi said when asked about the nature of governance in Washington. “They have a trifecta that just enables them to vote against everything.”

Stewart said that Democrats are then required to make a stronger case. He said that Democratic governance now appears “chaotic” and their execution of legislation appears to “lack efficiency.” When Pelosi again blamed Republicans for this condition, Stewart became even more agitated.

When he asked why it was so difficult to get a company to execute the Affordable Care Act’s insurance exchange website “competently,” Pelosi replied, “I don’t know.” 

“What do you mean you don’t know? How do you not know?” Stewart asked laughing. 

Pelosi called the failed website “shameful,” but noted that it is improving. 

Stewart circled back to a philosophical pro-government argument that Democrats espouse but at the same time have been unable to demonstrate competency. He cited President Barack Obama’s campaign which had an efficient online process, but noted that it was impossible for that team to work on the ACA.
“Doesn’t matter,” Pelosi said. “What matters is it should have been prepared for.”

“Do we have a foundational problem? Is there a corruption in the system that needs to be addressed?” 

Stewart asked. Pelosi went on to detail the issues with bureaucracy and the failure of departments to communicate with each other. “Okay, do something about it,” Pelosi said. 

“I was actually going to say that to you,” Stewart interjected.

Nancy Pelosi: "We Did Not Treat President Bush This Way"



Amazing how often this insane woman can lie straight to people's faces:
Democrats are looking to President Obama to really help kick the populist agenda they have been re-devising for the 2014 campaign season into high gear with his address this evening, and in previewing the SOTU on MSNBC this morning, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was really in her element, hitting all of the latest “obstructionist,” “income inequality opportunity gap,”  “executive action” talking points like so many carefully concocted whack-a-moles. That it always and necessarily takes two parties to tango is a piece of logic that never seems to enter into that kind of woe-is-us, nobody-else-has-ever-had-to-deal-with-a-divided-government brand of thinking:

The point is that, since that time, under President Obama’s administration, we have eight million jobs created… We have an opportunity gap that the president will be addressing, but let’s remember where we were and how far we have come from the Bush economic policies to where we are now. … The point is, what is happening here now, and let’s, since you’re trying to analyze it, is we have a large segment of the Republican party that is anti-government. We don’t want any more government than we need, but they’re anti-government, anti-science, and anti-Obama. They have a trifecta that is going. I say to the Republicans, take back your party. …To obstruct every initiative that the president has put forth on jobs and say, ‘Why don’t we have more jobs?’ Well, we do have more jobs, but no thanks to the Congress of the United States. … We did not treat President Bush this way. … This obstruction to President Obama is something quite stunning, and something quite different.

DC Insurance Commissioner Fired After Being Critical of Obamacare “Fix”


When it comes to Godless liberals tolerance is not a two-way street:
A top deputy in the DC mayor’s office reportedly told the city’s insurance commissioner he wants to “go in a different direction” -- i.e., fire him -- one day after the latter released a statement raising concerns about President Obama’s decision to amend his signature health care law. This is another way of saying, “if you disagree with the president publicly, there will be consequences.” Or so it seems:
A day after he questioned President Obama’s decision to unwind a major tenet of the health-care law and said the nation’s capital might not go along, D.C. insurance commissioner William P. White was fired. 

White was called into a meeting Friday afternoon with one of Mayor Vincent C. Gray’s (D) top deputies and told that the mayor “wants to go in a different direction,” White told The Washington Post on Saturday.
White said the mayoral deputy never said that he was being asked to leave because of his Thursday statement on health care. But he said the timing was hard to ignore. Roughly 24 hours later, White said, he was “basically being told, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’”
White was one of the first insurance commissioners in the nation last week to push back against Obama’s attempt to smooth over part of the botched rollout of the Affordable Care Act: millions of unexpected cancellations of insurance plans.
White evidently raised the warning bells because the president’s unilateral delay will discourage young people from enrolling in the exchanges, thus hastening the law’s death spiral. Curiously, the commissioner’s public statement was removed from his department’s website almost immediately:
White’s statement was removed from the department’s Web site sometime before Friday morning. Asked about the removal Friday, spokesman Michael Flagg said the department’s statement had changed. 

“Our statement now is that we’re taking a close look at the implications of the president’s announcement on the District’s exchange and we will soon recommend a course of action after taking into consideration the positions of all the stakeholders,” Flagg wrote in an e-mail.
An anonymous city official suggests White was fired not because of the content of his statement, but because he violated protocol:
A senior city official said White’s initial statement was sent to the mayoral communications director, Pedro Ribeiro, only minutes before it was issued publicly. It was not sent to Deputy Mayor Victor Hoskins, White’s immediate supervisor, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak about a personnel matter. 

A formal statement critical of the president should have been closely vetted and approved by the mayor’s office, and White refused to acknowledge the misstep, the official said. White said Hoskins fired him Friday.
White disagrees:
White said he thought he would have been derelict in his duties to not quickly make a statement on the president’s announcement. 

“Everyone was looking for responses from the regulators. One of my chief concerns is always consistency and clarity in the marketplace — you can’t have something that big sitting out there without responding to it,” he said.
Either way, White no longer has a job. And politics seems to be the reason why.

Stupid Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi Confuses Constitution with Declaration of Independence

Speaking last Wednesday at the Center for American Progress (CAP), Democratic Leader of the House Nancy Pelosi became a little confused at one point, stumbling over her words and flipping through her notes while referencing one of the founding documents of the United States. Rep. Pelosi was recalling an early women's rights convention held in Seneca Falls, New York 165 years ago. 
"And so, it was 165 years ago, 165 years ago. Imagine the courage it took for those women to go to Seneca Falls and do what they did there, to even leave home without their husband’s permission, or father’s, or whoever it was. To go to Seneca Falls, and to paraphrase what our founders said in the Constitution of the United States: they said the truths that are self-evident, that every man and woman, that men and women were created equal and that we must go forward in recognition of that." 
 It is of course the Declaration of Independence and not the Constitution that contains the reference to self-evident truths: 
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Professor Cornel West: Obama Is A ‘War Criminal’ Like Nixon And Bush

Princeton University Professor Cornel West severely criticized President Barack Obama on Thursday while he co-hosted the Tavis Smiley radio show. West said that Obama’s recently uncovered legal justification for attacks on American citizens in league with Al Qaeda amounted to war crimes. Obama is, like his Republican predecessors Richard Nixon and George W. Bush, a war criminal, West said.


“Your thoughts on this so-called license to kill?” Smiley asked West. 

“The chickens are coming home to roost,” West replied. “We’ve been talking about this for a good while, the immorality of drones, dropping bombs on innocent people, it’s been over 200 children so far. These are war crimes.”

“I think we have to be very honest, let us not be deceived — Nixon, Bush, Obama, they’re war criminals,” West continued. “They have killed innocent people in the name of the struggle for freedom, but they’re suspending the law, very much like Wall Street criminals. The law is suspended for them, but the law applies for the rest of us.”

West highlighted a double standard in conclusion by saying that, if he or Smiley were to conduct themselves as Obama has, they would be sent to prison.

House Oversight Committee Votes 23-17 To Hold A.G. Eric Holder In Contempt Of Congress

The House Oversight Committee has voted to find U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress after refusing to surrender documents relating to the Fast and Furious gun walking scandal. The contempt charge will now head to the full House of Representatives for a vote.

President Barack Obama invoked executive privilege on Tuesday night to withhold documents relating to Fast and Furious. 

The poorly administered operation cost the lives of an unknown number of Mexican civilians as well as the life of American border agent Brian Terry. 

Democrats have accused Congressional Republicans of playing politics with the Fast and Furious case. Some Congressional Democrats, including House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), have said that the charge of contempt against Holder is motivated by the political need to tarnish the Obama White House ahead of the presidential election in November.

Confirmed: Nancy Pelosi Lied About CIA Briefing On Waterboarding



If you're still out there looking for a reason as to why Nancy Pelosi was unceremoniously bounced as House Speaker a couple of years ago during the 2010 midterm elections, here's another...she's just a liar of epic proportions:
Three years ago, I wrote a satirical column "defending" Nancy Pelosi against accusations that she had lied publicly about being briefed by the CIA about the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EITs) -- including waterboarding -- on enemy detainees as far back as 2002.  Here's her infamous denial:


The evidence against Pelosi was so strong that her tale could only be explained one of two ways: Either (a) she was lying, or (b) a vast conspiracy had constructed a web of deceit to ensnare her.  Occam's Razor revealed the truth, of course, but my column was premised on describing just how implausible the 'anti-Pelosi witch hunt' theory really was.  As of that writing, we knew that two separate members of the House Intelligence Committee had personally attested to her presence at a private 2002 briefing, at which EITs were thoroughly described.  A contemporaneous CIA report also confirmed Pelosi's presence at the briefing, specifying that members were informed about the existence and use of these EITs.  A 2007 Washington Post account corroborated these facts.  And yet, Pelosi stuck to her story.  She claimed that she was not -- repeat: was not -- told about any of this, further asserting that the CIA had lied by explicitly assuring her that waterboarding had not been used.  In case any shadow of doubt remained, a final piece of this puzzle has fallen into place.  The former CIA counterterrorism chief who conducted the briefing in question has at last spoken out:
In his new book, “Hard Measures,” Jose Rodriguez reveals that he led a CIA briefing of Pelosi, where the techniques being used in the interrogation of senior al-Qaeda facilitator Abu Zubaida were described in detail. Her claim that she was not told about waterboarding at that briefing, he writes, “is untrue.” “We explained that as a result of the techniques, Abu Zubaydah was compliant and providing good intelligence. We made crystal clear that authorized techniques, including waterboarding, had by then been used on Zubaydah.” Rodriguez writes that he told Pelosi everything, adding, “We held back nothing.” How did she respond when presented with this information? Rodriguez writes that neither Pelosi nor anyone else in the briefing objected to the techniques being used.
That's not merely Rodriguez's personal recollection; his memory is affirmed by yet another document:
Six days after the meeting took place, Rodriguez reveals, “a cable went out from headquarters to the black site informing them that the briefing for the House leadership had taken place.” He explains that “[t]he cable to the field made clear that Goss and Pelosi had been briefed on the state of AZ’s interrogation, specifically including the use of the waterboard and other enhanced interrogation techniques.”
To recap: Roughly one year after 9/11, Nancy Pelosi and other select members of Congress were told in great detail about a program of EITs that US interrogators were employing to wring actionable intelligence out of captured terrorists.  No one objected.  Years later, when Democrats were indignantly denouncing "torture" as an inexpiable sin of Bush and the Republicans, Pelosi disavowed any knowledge of the meeting she had attended.  She deliberately lied about a sensitive national security question in order to score the cheapest of political points, tossing the American intelligence community under the bus in the process.  This is absolutely shameful.  House Democrats' code of Congressional conduct features the following passage, describing the grounds on which a member may be censured:
The authority to discipline by way of censure, reprimand or other such rebuke, however, has come to be recognized and accepted in congressional practice as extending to cases of “misconduct,” even outside of Congress, which the House finds to be reprehensible, and/or to reflect discredit on the institution, and which is, therefore, worthy of condemnation or rebuke.
If lying -- knowingly and repeatedly -- about a matter of national security in pursuit of a purely partisan end doesn't fit the bill for "reprehensible" behavior that "reflects discredit on the institution, I don't know what does.  Her mendacity in this case is far more damaging to Congress and the nation than anything for which Anthony Weiner, for instance, was responsible.  Pelosi remains the highest ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives.  Disgraceful.

Nancy Pelosi Shows Support For Disgraced Congressman Charles Rangel

Almost exactly a year ago, members of Congress voted overwhelmingly to censure their colleague Rep. Charlie Rangel for bringing dishonor on the House. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi summoned the New York Democrat to the well and chastised him for his 11 ethics violations, which included improper fundraising.


This week, Rangel again brought the House into disrepute – but this time he had the full support of his colleagues.


“Last night marked a momentous evening in my campaign for re-election,” Rangel wrote in a letter to supporters on Thursday. “At a special event in Washington, Democratic leaders including Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, James Clyburn, Sandy Levin, John Conyers, Emmanuel Cleaver, and Steve Israel stood by my side and pledged their unwavering support on my behalf. I am so humbled and grateful for their involvement.”


As further evidence of how he had gone from opprobrium to affirmation, Rangel attached an article from Politico headlined “What Censure? Rangel’s Back.” The article included quotes from Rangel taunting the House ethics committee members and saying his censure was all for show.


It’s hard to quarrel with Rangel’s reasoning. The fete Wednesday night at the upscale Bistro Bis, near Union Station, was a way for House Democrats to demonstrate that their punishment of the defrocked Ways and Means committee chairman was insincere. By attending the up-to-$5,000-per-ticket soiree, they were proclaiming that all was forgiven.


The public is not nearly so forgiving. The Rangel party — where lobbyists and other influence seekers paid to gain access to, and favor among, party leaders — goes a long way toward explaining why Americans’ approval of Congress has dropped to 9 percent.


The speedy rehabilitation of the first member of the House to be censured in nearly three decades is a symptom of what has destroyed trust in government and the ability of that government to function. As Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig, an ethics specialist, put it to me this week: “Who would ever trust such a system?” And “how can this government continue to behave like this?”

Democrat Congressman Anthony Weiner To Take Leave of Absence Amid Calls to Resign

U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, who has been under fire after admitting to inappropriate communications with women online, has decided to seek treatment "to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person," his spokeswoman said Saturday.


While the New York congressman seeks treatment at an undisclosed location, he will take a "short leave of absence" from Congress, Risa Heller said in a statement.


A Democratic source, familiar with conversations among Weiner and Democratic leadership about his fate, did not know what specific type of treatment Weiner would undergo.


House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and the chairmen of the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee called for Weiner to step down in separate statements earlier Saturday.


The congressman has resisted calls to resign.


"Congressman Weiner has the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents and the recognition that he needs help. I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a member of Congress," Pelosi said.


DCCC Chair Steve Israel also wished Weiner well in his personal life, but said that the scandal has "become an insurmountable distraction" to the House.


"The behavior he has exhibited is indefensible and Representative Weiner's continued service in Congress is untenable," DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said, also calling it a distraction.


According to the Democratic source, leaders decided it was time to tell Weiner to resign because they "don't want to go into a third week with a story that brings disgrace on the House and not talk about our agenda."


This same source said Weiner responded that he doesn't want to make a decision until his wife, Huma Abedin, returns from a trip. Abedin, a senior aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is traveling with her in Africa and is scheduled to return early Thursday.


"Congressman Weiner takes the views of his colleagues very seriously and has determined that he needs this time to get healthy and make the best decision possible for himself, his family and his constituents," Heller said.


The statements come as Delaware authorities are investigating contact between a local teen and Weiner.


"Detectives were made aware of alleged contact between Congressman Anthony Weiner and an area teen," New Castle County Police said in a statement. "Detectives have conducted an interview with the teen and she has made no disclosure of criminal activity nor inappropriate contact by the congressman."


Weiner's spokeswoman said the interaction with the Delaware teen was not inappropriate.


"According to Congressman Weiner, his communications with this person were neither explicit nor indecent," Heller said.
Honestly, I don't blame Weiner for not resigning esp. when you got David Vitter still out there, Weiner (so far) hasn't broken any laws and at the end of the day it should be left up his constituents to decide his fate. Bill Clinton got impeached, and rightfully so, because he lied under oath, not because he was morally corrupt. Anthony Weiner is a far-Left loon, so no one should be surprised by this drama because liberals don't have values to begin. But considering how much being a politician means to Weiner, no surprise here that he decides to lay low and hope this scandal either plays itself out or gets put to the background once the next scandal arrives. Then too, the only reason Pelosi and Co. are coming out talking for Weiner to resign is because they know how much this whole sex scandal hurts a party most Americans just don't have that much faith in anymore.

Rep. Anthony Weiner Admits In Press Conference He Lied All Along But Vows ‘I Am Not Resigning’



Proof once again that liberals don't have values to begin with. Of course, the irony here is how cocky, arrogant and self-righteous this lying loon was with conservatives, Now all he can do nothing is cry and hang his head in shame. And yes, let Andrew Breitbart's victory march begin:
Today another unpredictable chapter was added to the expanding Weinergate story, as just a few hours ago conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart and his website Big Government unveiled brand new, shirtless photos of Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner that were allegedly sent by Weiner to an unidentified female. Weiner wasted no time responding to these new photos by announcing a press conference, but oddly Breitbart himself appeared in the room and took the podium first.


Breitbart stole the spotlight at first, answering questions from members of the press and said “I’d like an apology from [Weiner]” and “I want to hear the truth.” Then Breitbart joked that “I’ve seen a lot of this Congressman’s body” and that “he’s in very good shape.” And finally, Breitbart suggested he is holding back one explicit photo in order to protect Weiner’s family.


Nearly twenty minutes later Weiner finally appeared and addressed all of the questions. Weiner shockingly admitted “I have made terrible mistakes” and that he lied about his Twitter account being hacked. Weiner confirmed that the pictures were in fact of him, and that he has exchanged pictures of himself with six women over the past few years. However, he stressed that he never had physical relationships with these women and that he never even met them. Some of the exchanges continued to take place after his marriage. Weiner emphasized that “I’m so sorry” and “I haven’t told the truth and I’ve done things I deeply regret.” Before taking many questions from reporters, Weiner reiterated that he apologized to his wife, that he is “deeply ashamed of my terrible judgment and actions” and finally that “I am not resigning.”


Prior to the press conference, questions were swirling whether Weiner could survive this controversy and for how long, or whether Weiner might even announce his resignation. Many believed Weiner hurt himself last week with his decision to conduct a round of interviews that breathed new life into the controversy as he was unable to definitely declare whether or not the man in the Twitter underwear picture was actually him. How today’s decision to come clean about everything will impact his public image remains to be seen.

Bob Schieffer Scolds Pelosi For Congress Doing ‘Basically Nothing’ On Economy

House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sat down with Bob Schieffer this morning and her non-answers on Congressional action to tackle the problems with the nation’s economy left Schieffer in a sour mood. As Pelosi suggested President Obama has done everything to save this economy and now the focus is on jobs, Schieffer wondered “the President has been there two and a half years, I mean, why hasn’t he done that yet, what’s happened?”


Pelosi tried to stress Obama’s economic achievements:


“He pulled us from the brink of the financial crisis, from an economic crisis, and now we have to dig out of a deep debt, and we have to also make it clear that we’re not getting into this situation again.”


Yet Schieffer wasn’t impressed, particularly with how little he saw from Congress, concluding “Congress has been in session since January and has done basically nothing.” Pelosi responded, “well you can talk to Mr. Boehner about that.” Schieffer didn’t seem to like Pelosi’s insistence on blaming Republicans without offering any ideas to get something done “now.” Pelosi finally relented somewhat with her defense:


“We’re not in the majority in the House. And so you’re saying to me why haven’t we brought something to the floor to create jobs? I think that’s a better question asked to the Republicans because they control the agenda.”


Pelosi seemed somewhat surprised by Schieffer’s agitation, yet finger-pointing without any attempt at a compromise or suggesting a solution, admirably doesn’t get far with Schieffer these days.
Anytime liberals go back to blaming the GOP for everything, just remember that they just had two years of running everything. And yet, despite the mess this country is on, while they were in charge their single goal was getting ObamaCare passed. Thankfully, even some in the lamestream press are growing tired of their BS.

Nearly 20 Percent Of New ObamaCare Waivers To Go Nancy Pelosi District for Restaurants, Nightclubs and Fancy Hotels


Well, good to know that the resident libs aren't still playing favorites:
Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama’s administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district.


That’s in addition to the 27 new waivers for health care or drug companies and the 31 new union waivers Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved.


Pelosi’s district secured almost 20 percent of the latest issuance of waivers nationwide, and the companies that won them didn’t have much in common with companies throughout the rest of the country that have received Obamacare waivers.


Other common waiver recipients were labor union chapters, large corporations, financial firms and local governments. But Pelosi’s district’s waivers are the first major examples of luxurious, gourmet restaurants and hotels getting a year-long pass from Obamacare.


For instance, Boboquivari’s restaurant in Pelosi’s district in San Francisco got a waiver from Obamacare. Boboquivari’s advertises $59 porterhouse steaks, $39 filet mignons and $35 crab dinners.
