Former Democrat Governor Jon Corzine Says He Doesn't Know Where An Estimated $1.2 Billion In Client Funds Are

Jon Corzine is not only a disgrace, but a man that Barack Obama and his entire leftwing base  tried to get re-elected in New Jersey a couple of years ago:

Jon S. Corzine told lawmakers he never intended to break any rules as head of MF Global Holdings Ltd. and doesn’t know what happened to an estimated $1.2 billion in missing client funds.


“I’m not in a position, given the number of transactions, to know anything specifically about the movement of any specific funds,” Corzine said today at a House Agriculture Committee hearing in Washington. “I certainly would never intend to direct or have segregated funds moved.”


Under subpoena and under oath, the former Democratic senator and New Jersey governor testified on Capitol Hill for two and a half hours, repeatedly apologizing to investors, customers and employees of the failed New York brokerage.


“I simply do not know where the money is, or why the accounts have not been reconciled to date,” Corzine said. “I apologize, both personally and on behalf of the company, to our customers, our employees and our investors. I truly know that they are bearing the brunt” of the collapse.


Under repeated questioning, Corzine said that he did not knowingly authorize any movement of funds out of client accounts, and that any such transfers could have been a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of his intent.

Some MF Global Inc. employees fired in New York and Chicago learned of their fate from news reports that the trustee liquidating the broker-dealer had decided to terminate all 1,066 of them, according to three people familiar with the matter.


Trustee James Giddens distributed a statement yesterday announcing the firings at the unit of bankrupt MF Global Holdings Ltd. It was reported by the news media before many employees were notified, said one person familiar with the release who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly about it. Two employees who declined to be named because they said it may damage their job prospects also said they heard of the firings through the media.


“We were well into the process of notifying employees and were attempting to personally reach as many employees as possible when the release went out,” said Kent Jarrell, a spokesman for Giddens. Tiffany Galvin, a spokeswoman for MF Global, declined to comment on the trustee’s decision.


MF Global Holdings filed for bankruptcy Oct. 31 after a $6.3 billion bet on the bonds of some of Europe’s most indebted nations prompted regulator concerns and a credit rating downgrade. Giddens, overseeing the liquidation of the bankrupt company’s brokerage unit, is managing the subsidiary’s wind-down under the Securities Investor Protection Act.

There'll be little mention by the liberal press concerning the latest downfall of leftist smug John Corzine, but thank goodness New Jersey voters were smart enough to see past the liberal media's bs propaganda and elect Chris Christie as their new governor:

Besieged broker MF Global filed bankruptcy today after a frantic effort over the weekend by CEO John Corzine to strike an out-of-bankruptcy sale came up short.


MF Global had a tentative deal to sell assets to Interactive Brokers Group as of late Sunday, but the agreement fell apart as talks continued overnight, people familiar with the matter said. Discussions ended around 5 a.m. Eastern Time, one of these people said.


MF Global had been considering filing just its holding company for bankruptcy protection and then executing the sale. That plan is now off the table, one of the people said. This person said MF Global's parent company would be included in the bankruptcy filing.


Voluntary bankruptcy petitions for MF Global Holdings Ltd. and MF Global Finance USA Inc. hit the docket in a US bankruptcy court in Manhattan mid-morning Monday.


The New York Federal Reserve said that it suspended new business with the futures trading company until it establishes that it is "fully capable" of performing its duties as a primary broker. It is one of 22 primary brokers at the New York Fed.


Additionally, the InterContinental Exchange limited MF Global customers to unwinding positions and said it will no longer recognize the company or its divisions as a guarantor. MF Global is a major player in the futures markets, so the news had an outsized effect on futures trading.


In its bankruptcy filing with the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan, it listed JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank as its biggest creditors.


The company reported a quarterly loss of $192 million last week and has seen its shares plunge more than 60 percent since then.


The bankruptcy ended one of the most harrowing weekends on Wall Street since Lehman Brothers on Sept. 15, 2008 imploded on worries that it was choking on toxic mortgage debt.


Three years later, Corzine — a former Goldman Sachs CEO — was pounding the phones this past weekend in an attempt to secure a white knight to purchase all or parts of MF Global after concerns about the broker-dealer’s exposures to some $6.3 billion in European sovereign debt decimated its shares in a wild week off trader for the firm that saw it lose three-quarters of its equity value.


For Corzine, 64, the bankruptcy is another knock on his reputation after choosing to dial up European risk at MF Global when other larger firms had grown weary.

Gay Marriage Defeated In New Jersey Senate, Jon Corzine Can Get Lost Now

New Jersey's state Senate on Thursday defeated a bill that would have legalized same-sex marriage, a move that likely puts the measure on the back burner for several years.

The state Senate, after an afternoon of debate, voted 20 to 14 against the bill. Backers of the bill had hoped to get it approved and signed into law before Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, a supporter, leaves office on January 19.

Another victory for the sanctity of marriage which the majority of Americans have made clear should stay between a man and a woman.

There will in fact be a vote on gay marriage in the lame duck session of the New Jersey state legislature on Thursday, NBCNewYork.com has learned.

"We're gonna post the bill and see what happens," Senate President Dick Codey told us.

Codey, and even sponsors of same sex marriage legislation are skeptical if there are enough votes to pass in the State Senate.

For days now, Codey has been weighing whether or not to allow a vote in the waning days of this session, which ends next Monday.

"The members for the most part said go ahead and post it," Codey explained in coming to his decision, while acknowledging there was a minority of his fellow democrats who urged him not to bring it to a vote.

Codey said he will post it for debate and a vote Thursday afternoon.

The leading advocate for same sex marriage, Steve goldstein of Garden State Equality, said he looks forward to the debate.

"Senator Codey is a great supporter of equality and at least he kept his commitment to our community," Goldstein said, referring to the defections of several senators who Goldstein said had promised to support gay marriage, but then changed their minds after the November election.

A lead opponent of the bill, John Tomicki, president of the New Jersey Coalition to Protect and Preserve Marriage, doesn't believe same sex marriage can pass.

"The votes aren't there," said Tomicki, though he quickly added, "what they should be doing is let the people decide the issue," referring to his preference for a public referendum.

In recent years, some three dozen states have asked voters to decide the issue, and gay marriage has lost every time.

If the bill does pass the State Senate, it would go to the Assembly which would also have to debate, and then hold a final vote on Monday, the last day of the session.

Outgoing Governor Jon Corzine has said repeatedly that he would sign it into law if it passes. Incoming Governor Chris Christie, who takes the oath of office January 19th, has said just as many times that he would veto it if it ever gets to his desk.

It's the only way the Left can get 'gay marriage' passed in this country. Americans have made it clear time and time again where they stand on the sanctity of marriage, yet the morally bankrupt loons and their special-interest partners continue to search for activist judges and/or enough liberal loons in their local Congress to ignore the will of the people. Jon Corzine, just defeated in his bid for re-election, is a coward for allowing the New Jersey congress to vote on this measure.

FOX is the No. 1 cable news network by a wide margin. Independents love FOX and so do moderate Democrats. And contrary to what Robert Gibbs thinks, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity aren't the only people with shows on FOX. So if you're a liberal pol who truly believes in your platform, go on FOX and fight for what you believe in instead of acting like a little girl (i.e. Barry) and crying about anyone who dares to criticize you. Or you could be a loser like Jon Corzine.

Chris Christie, an aggressive former prosecutor who racked up a perfect conviction rate in public corruption cases and became the darling of New Jersey's Republican Party establishment, has unseated the deep-pocketed but unpopular Gov. Jon Corzine.

Christie, 47, on Tuesday became the first member of his party in a dozen years to win a statewide contest in heavily Democratic New Jersey. President Barack Obama invested heavily in the race, campaigning with Corzine five times on three separate visits.

With 75 percent of precincts reporting, Christie had 50 percent of the vote compared to 44 percent for Corzine. Independent candidate Chris Daggett, who at one point had been feared as a potential spoiler, had about 5 percent.

Christie accepted public financing in the race against the wealthy incumbent and was outspent by more than $12 million. He did get financial help from the Republican Governors Association and other national Republican groups, which bought television time in the pricey New York and Philadelphia media markets.

Christie ran on a platform of smaller government and relentlessly criticized Corzine for what he called poor economic stewardship — unemployment was 9.8 percent in October and property taxes averaged $7,045 per household, the nation's highest. But he was criticized during the campaign for remaining vague about how he would solve New Jersey's chronic fiscal problems.

The physically robust Christie endured an onslaught of personal attacks from the Corzine campaign; his weight even became a central issue at one point.

Oh sure, they'll pretend it doesn't matter now, but Governor-elect Chris Christie's win in a uber-liberal state like New Jersey is a huge victory for the GOP. Of course, the slimy tactics of Jon Corzine in this campaign as well as his 4 years of doing literally nothing for the people of New Jersey, also played a heavy part in his defeat. But the bottom line is that Chris Christie's win is a clear reflection of the failed policies and actions of Barack Obama.

If there was ever any question whether New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine thinks his Republican opponent was overweight, there isn't anymore.

A reporter from Press of Atlantic City asked Corzine if he considered Chris Christie to be fat, during an editorial board meeting captured on video.

"Excuse me?" Corzine asked, snapping his head towards the brazen questioner.

"Do you think Chris Christie is fat?" the reporter repeated, point blank.

The governor patted his pate and asked, "Am I bald?" without missing a beat -- eliciting lots of laughs from other reporters.

Jon Corzine is a rich, liberal elitist whose done nothing for the state of New Jersey but make broken promises while enriching his friends and exempting them from scrutiny and accountability. In other words, the very same Chicago-style politics that our Liar-In-Chief is noted for. Speaking of Barry, he'll be in New Jersey two days before the election to stump for Corzine. Of course, Barry's paying close attention to how this election plays out because a loss for Corzine in liberal New Jersey (the fact that Christie and Corzine are even tied in the polls says a lot about the current state of NJ politics) would be a huge blow to the Democrat party. That said, the people of New Jersey need to wake up to the consequences of electing self-serving liberal pols and give Jon Corzine the pink slip come November.

Democrats running for governor in New Jersey and Virginia face possible defeat in November, despite strong showings by President Barack Obama in those states last year, in elections that could render the first judgments on the Obama presidency.

New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, a close Obama ally, is struggling to win re-election in the face of a strong challenge by Republican Christopher Christie.

The Obama administration has turned out in support of Corzine, a wealthy former Goldman Sachs executive.

At a rally in Atlantic City this week, Vice President Joe Biden said it was "critically important" that Corzine is re-elected.

The Corzine campaign adapted the popular Obama slogan, hanging a banner next to Biden reading: "Yes we can -- again.

In Virginia, the only other U.S. state with a gubernatorial contest this year, Democrat Creigh Deeds has been losing so much ground in the polls to Republican Bob McDonnell that he has blamed the Obama administration's $787 billion economic stimulus plan for his low popularity.

A Washington Post poll published on Friday gave McDonnell a commanding lead of 53 percent to 44 percent, with less than a month to go until election day.

"Frankly, a lot of what's going on in Washington has made it very tough," Deeds told Politico newspaper. "We had a very tough August because people were just uncomfortable with the spending."

The Virginia race, where incumbent Democratic Governor Tim Kaine cannot run because of term limits, is more likely to be decided on national issues such as the economy and healthcare, said Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.

A recent survey showed many voters in Virginia, where Obama won by 6 percentage points, expect taxes to rise as a result of a U.S. healthcare overhaul being considered in Congress.

Biden campaigned for Deeds this week in Virginia and the Democratic National Committee allocated another $1 million for his campaign. Democrats were waiting to see if Obama would make another appearance on Deeds' behalf.

The race in heavily Democratic New Jersey reflects more the struggles of an unpopular incumbent than the national political mood, and will be decided on Corzine's handling of such issues as the state's high property taxes, analysts said.

Corzine has lagged in polls, sometimes by double digits, for months in a state that Obama won by 15 points and where the legislature is controlled by Democrats. The race has tightened up in recent weeks.

Corzine has tried to link Christie, a former U.S. Attorney with a successful record prosecuting corrupt public officials and suspected terrorists, to former President George W. Bush, whose market deregulation Corzine blames for the nation's financial crisis.
