Charles Krauthammer: Claim of Seven Million Obamacare Enrollees Is ‘Phony Number’

Charles Krauthammer doesn’t believe seven million people have actually enrolled in Obamacare, telling Bill O’Reilly Tuesday night that the White House is throwing out “phony numbers” by broadening their standards in order to attain a personal victory.

Both men agreed that the goal of Obamacare was to eventually convince the country to shift to full government control of the health care system, with Krauthammer saying it at least would have been clearer than “this insane mishmash” in the middle. He then charged that President Obama and the White House is not being honest when it says that a little over seven million people have signed up.

“These numbers that they are touting are phony numbers… That’s like saying anybody who goes on Amazon, orders a nifty stereo set, puts it in the shopping cart, has purchased the stereo set. I assure you it’s not going to show up at your house until you pay for it.”

Krauthammer charged that the goal from the beginning was to make health care, “the great liberal objective,” a reality by any means necessary. And he found it laughable for Democrats to keep asserting it’s the law of the land, because “nothing that’s written in the law matters, they decide what the law is every Wednesday morning.”

Rush Limbaugh: Straight People ‘Under Assault by the 2 to 5 Percent That Are Homosexual’

Just the facts people:

In taking on the Michael Sam coming-out story Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh asked why, in his belief, homosexuality always comes with a political agenda. He found it striking that homosexuals have activists but heterosexuals don’t, claiming that the majority is “under assault by the two to five percent of the country.”

“Why does homosexuality have a political agenda?” he asked. “Why is there anything political about homosexuality while heterosexuality has no political agenda and there is no agenda attached to it?”

Limbaugh sarcastically wondered why it is considered progress for a gay man to join the NFL when people were outraged about concussions and other dangers of playing football. At various points during the segment, Limbaugh was interrupted by people “shouting” at him who were saying, as Limbaugh put it, that “the media wants a gay football player to succeed.”

Rush Limbaugh: GOP Should Troll Obama by Taking Selfies at ‘State of the Coup’

Rush Limbaugh is still annoyed that President Obama took a selfie at Nelson Mandela‘s memorial, and on Tuesday he said it would be hilarious if, during the “State of the Coup” address, Republicans just get back at Obama by taking selfies the whole time.

Limbaugh said in an ideal world, John Boehner would sit down behind Obama “in a white lab coat… as a doctor that has lost his practice” thanks to Obamacare, but said it wouldn’t happen because of the “prestige and tradition” of the State of the Union.

But Limbaugh thought of something else Republicans could do just to mess around during the speech.

I think what the male Republican ought to do is find an attractive woman, not his wife, and put his arm around her and start taking some selfies while Obama is delivering the State of the Coup address. Would that not be hilarious? Would that not be eye catching?

Limbaugh referred to Obama taking the selfie with Helle Thorning-Schmidt and the picture of Michelle Obama looking none too happy, though the man who took that photo said he she wasn’t really upset and told people to get a life if they’re seriously fixated on this.

She doesn’t give him a pass on it — as you’ll see, the word “atrocious” is mentioned — but contextualizing Bridgegate vis-a-vis the NSA and Benghazi (and the IRS, and Bob Gates’s accusations, etc) does Christie a big favor. Given the bad blood between them, she could have been much harsher. 

Has any all-star tea partier really unloaded on Christie yet, by the way? It’s strange that after three days of punishing media coverage, the Republican who’s taken the biggest swing at him is … this guy.

Rush Limbaugh: Media, Liberal Activists Ginning Up ‘Polar Vortex’ to Sell Global Warming ‘Hoax’

Rush Limbaugh isn’t buying into the “polar vortex” term being used in the media to describe the extreme cold all over the country right now, saying it’s just a hyperbole and a way for liberals to “attach this to the global warming agenda.” He mocked the environmentalist warnings that the ice is melting at the North Pole, because of what’s happening right now, and took note of the climate scientists whose ship got stuck near the South Pole.

He mocked the media coverage of the “vortex,” saying that the entire game is to make this sound “new and unprecedented” so blame entirely goes to humans, “particularly Republicans.” Limbaugh charged that global warming activists are continuing to push this as polls show people don’t really think global warming is a top priority on a list of their biggest issues.

He called out a Daily Beast column explaining this and saying “isn’t science neat?” by mockingly declaring, “if you can rewrite the laws of atmospherics to suit your political agenda, I guess science is neat.”

Rush Limbaugh caused quite a stir this past week after declaring that Pope Francis is preaching “pure Marxism.” Limbaugh fired back on his radio show Thursday, mocking the “soap opera” that always seems to plague him any time he opens his mouth.

He sighed about yet “another manufactured controversy” over his remarks and liberals trying to turn him into a “villain in this massive soap opera script.” He contrasted the over-the-top coverage of his Sandra Fluke remarks with the absolute silence over Martin Bashir‘s.

Limbaugh admitted that he’s just tired of it at this point; of people using him as a convenient punching bag whenever they discover something particularly egregious he’s said.

“I don’t like immersing myself in these contrived, phony things with these people acting like they’re so outraged by this. They’re not outraged by it.  They’re energized by what they think is another opportunity to take me out. They don’t care what I really said about the pope. That’s not the point of it. The point is, “Oh, wow!” I mean, every day they’re hoping I step in it, as they define stepping in it. So to heck with it.”

Cornel West Calls Al Sharpton A ‘Bonafide House Negro of the Obama Plantation’

Heh heh. Conservatives should always remember to give Dr. West and Tavis Smiley the credit they deserve for standing up to the bullies on the professional Left and daring to publicly criticize Barack Obama's Godless, pro-gay agenda:

Public intellectual Cornel West tore into this week’s speeches surrounding the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s “I Have a Dream” speech as lacking in “truth,” blasting speakers like President Obama and Rev. Al Sharpton as having given a “sanitized” verison of Dr. King’s vision.

“Brother Martin himself, I think, would’ve been turning over in his grave,” West said of the event. “[King would have wanted] people to talk about Wall Street criminality, he wants people to talk about war crimes, or drones dropping bombs on innocent people,” he asserted.

“Instead,” he lamented, “we saw the coronation of the bonafide house negro of the Barack Obama plantation, our dear brother Al Sharpton.” West then declared that Sharpton’s decline was “supported by [MSNBC analyst] Michael Dyson and others who’ve prostituted themselves in a very ugly and vicious way.” 

West and his co-host Tavis Smiley both lamented that black leadership has become “so sold-out” so as not to have the courage to be a “bull in the china shop,” break rank, and talk about “racism, poverty, and militarism” at an otherwise “bought-out” event.

This is not the first time West has referred to Sharpton as being “on the Obama plantation.” The radio host made the same claim in July when he felt Sharpton did not advocate hard enough for a Department of Justice “civil rights” prosecution against the recently-acquitted George Zimmerman.

MSNBC Race-Baiter Chris Matthews Ignores History, Says Only White People Can Be "Racist"

"Tingles" just foolishly let the whole MSNBC business plan out the bag with this one:

MSNBC Chris Matthews has a sociological lesson for conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. After playing a clip of Limbaugh identifying racial antipathy in comments made by a pastor who spoke in front of President Barack Obama, Matthews took Limbaugh to school on the definition of racism. He said that racism, by definition, is the belief that white people alone should “rule” all other races. This is a “definition” unknown to students of global racial conflict.

Rev. Luis León presided over Easter Sunday services attended by President Obama recently, and has taken fire from the right for suggesting that racial hatred lurks in the hearts of conservatives. 

During his radio show, Limbaugh agreed with a caller who suggested that León was merely following the president’s lead in accusing the right of latent racism.

“Actually, Rushbo, racism is the belief that one race – whites — should rule all others,” Matthews confidently declared. “Get your definitions straight.”

While the history of racial discrimination by whites against minorities in the United States and around the world is voluminous and ongoing, racism and racially motivated violence is by no means a phenomenon limited to white people. 

On every populated continent on earth, racially motivated discrimination is an ongoing problem: Malaysian schools discriminating against Chinese students, Indian Hindus discriminating against Muslims, Zimbabwean militias ransacking white-owned farms, Libyan rebels targeting black residents, Israeli Jews discriminating against Palestinians, et cetera. 

And these are just the presently raging across the globe, to say nothing of the tragic history of racial violence around the world. And this is purely ethnic, to say nothing of religious intolerance fueling global discord and complicating international relations. 

Matthew’s claim that white people are the sole practitioners of racism is plainly, almost proudly, ignorant. Furthermore, such a statement suggests a lack of intellectual rigor or even curiosity about the nature of global conflict. At the very least, statements like these do not serve the audience of a news program.

Rush Limbaugh Goes After Bill O’Reilly For ‘Marginalizing’ Audience By Calling Gay Marriage Opponents ‘Bible Thumpers’

Can't believe O'Reilly would do such a thing, nice of Rush to call him out on it. After all there's plenty of reasons besides the Bible that one can be against "gay marriage": 1) The gay lobby are mostly made up of anti-Christian, atheists (i.e., all this "gay marriage" crap is nothing but an attack on religion) and they know full damn well that civil unions would provide gays with the same "rights" as marriage does; 2) real "marriage equality" would include polygamists and polyamorous couples, 3) every man and every woman already has a "right" to legally marry a person of the opposite sex and 4) homosexuality is a behavioral choice and thus, shouldn't be compared to race or laws that that were passed to prevent discrimination based on race or gender, natural states of being that cannot be changed.

On his radio show this afternoon, Rush Limbaugh took a swipe at Bill O’Reilly after the Fox News host and his guest said the opponents to same-sex marriage have no “compelling” argument besides “thumping the Bible.”

On The O’Reilly Factor last night, guest Megyn Kelly explained that she finds the social conservative argument against same-sex marriage to be weak, seeing no argument articulated aside from biblical beliefs.

O’Reilly agreed:

“The compelling argument is on the side of homosexuals. That’s where the compelling argument is: ‘We are Americans. We just want to be treated like everybody else.’ That’s a compelling argument. And to deny that you’ve got to have a very strong argument on the other side. And the other side hasn’t been able to anything but thump the Bible.

Limbaugh took issue with this, seeing it as part of the “mainstream” media’s attempt to diminish opposition to gay marriage. Calling O’Reilly “Ted Baxter” — a nickame often given to TV personalities who are seen as vain and self-delusional — Limbaugh said the Fox host “marginalized” a great portion of the network’s viewers:

“How many of you who watch Fox are ‘Bible thumpers’? Do you think there are any Bible thumpers, quote-unquote, that watch Fox? Because last night you were sort of marginalized on The Factor as not having a compelling argument and just being a bunch of Bible-thumpers.”

Limbaugh then went on to connect the O’Reilly incident to Brian Williams and David Letterman similarly dismissing gay marriage opponents on NBC.

Rush Limbaugh Rips Lack Of Coverage Of Chris Dorner’s ‘Left-Wing Ties’: ‘The Fact That He’s Black Is A Factor’

As the manhunt for murder suspect and ex-LAPD officer Chris Dorner continues, Rush Limbaugh weighed on the issue on Monday. Hitting those who have asserted that Dorner makes some valid points in his manifesto, Limbaugh noted that race is a factor.

“Despite the murders,” Limbaugh noted, some (like Steve Roberts, whom he named) have insisted there’s “intelligence…at work here, and there is racism in the LAPD…this guy’s got historical sensibility.”

“Look, the fact that he’s black is a factor here,” Limbaugh asserted bluntly. “I’m sorry, but what else would explain this? What else would excusing this — or, if not excusing it, relegating the murder aspect of what the guy’s doing to secondary status, and that the primary thing we must see is his intellect.”

He then went on to point to the New Yorker‘s Ryan Lizza noting during a TV appearance with Howard Kurtz that there’s “a kernel of truth” to the criticism. “Sometimes the media does have a hair trigger when you find out a murder suspect does have ties to, say, the Tea Party or some radical right group,” he said. “So I can understand why there’s some sensitivity on the right to this.”

“The hypocrisy is the least of it,” Limbaugh remarked. They simply don’t see that they’re ignoring Dorner’s “left-wing ties” — even though Dorner “wants the approval of liberals!” A direct tie is simply being ignored, he continued.

With that, he went on to hit Charlie Sheen for the message he sent to Dorner via TMZ (after Sheen saw that he was mentioned in Dorner’s manifesto). Going past Sheen’s publicity grab, Limbaugh added that, to some, he’s fighting a race war. That’s what makes him “an acclaimed hero to people.”

Rush Limbaugh Rips Media ‘Groupies’ Fawning Over Obama: ‘Happiest They Have Been In Recorded History’

Rush Limbaugh was all caught up on the weekend’s inaugural festivities on Tuesday — and the media’s “fawning” coverage of the event left a bad taste in his mouth. Taking aim at the media, Limbaugh said there’s no longer even a pretense of objectivity.

Even some conservatives, he said, were saying President Obama‘s not really such a bad guy — not a socialist or Marxist, but just “a Chicago thug.” Limbaugh wasn’t pleased: “It became clear, folks, that you and I, who are conservatives, we’re becoming more and more marginalized and isolated on a little island here, and it’s very small.”

People “are jumping off our own ship” left and right.

But he digressed, moving on to the media’s “fawning over Obama” during the inauguration, which, Limbaugh asserted, demonstrated that there’s “no pretense that these people are journalists anymore.” CNN, he cited specifically, taking a jab at, among others, Al Roker, who “practically messed in his pants again.”

“It is unlike anything I have ever seen,” Limbaugh said. One step farther is CBS political director/Slate correspondent John Dickerson, who recently penned a Slate piece arguing Obama should “declare war” on the GOP. I warned you, Limbaugh said, that the top priority on the agenda would be destroying the Republican Party.

Running through some clips, he was taken aback by how excited media “groupies” were to be in the president’s presence. “I think this is the happiest they have been in recorded history,” he asserted. “Certainly in the modern era. Certainly they are happier than the first time around in 2008.”

“I don’t feel that way about anybody,” he added. “There’s not a human being I could get close to that I would go ga-ga for. Other than me.”

About Obama, Limbaugh concluded, “We are dealing here with a cult figure.”

Liberals Seek To Normalize Pedophilia, Just Like They Did With Gay Marriage

On his radio show yesterday afternoon, Rush Limbaugh claimed that the political left seeks to “normalize” pedophilia, much like they have successfully normalized gay marriage.

“There’s a movement to normalize pedophilia. Don’t pooh-pooh it,” he said. “The people behind it are serious, and you know the left as well as I do. They glom onto something and they don’t let go.”

Such a normalization movement, he explained, “has two aspects to it: One is that sex with children doesn’t hurt them. Kids like it, and so do adults, and there’s nothing wrong with it.” The radio host then asked his audience to remember how they first felt when they heard about gay marriage, adding that the common reaction was one of disbelief that such a thing could ever become part of society.

Nevertheless, he said, “there is a movement on to normalize pedophilia, and I guarantee you your reaction to that is probably much the same as your reaction when you first heard about gay marriage. What has happened to gay marriage? It’s become normal. And, in fact, with certain people in certain demographics it’s the most important issue in terms of who they vote for.”

The examples he cited included a recent Guardian UK column which suggested pedophilia may be a sexual orientation; the media “laughing off” allegations of sexual abuse by Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash; and academic experts who he believes claim that sex with adults does not hurt children.

After reading off the academic claims made in the Guardian column — namely that pedophilia may be a sexual orientation of people “wired differently” — Limbaugh wondered what would have happened if convicted child rapist Jerry Sandusky had such information at his 2012 trial.

“What is their objective?” Limbaugh asked about the normalizers. “They want us to all think that pedophilia is just another sexual orientation. You know who’s gonna fall right in line is college kids, just like they have on gay marriage, just like they do on all other revolutionary social issues. Their own definition of the cutting edge, civil rights, freedom, understanding, tolerance. So I’m just warning you here. You think it can’t happen. ‘Impossible! Don’t be nutso and wacko on us, Rush.’”

Limbaugh: ‘Anti-Gun Media’ Don’t Care About Gun Violence When It Involves Urban Neighborhoods

Of course, Limbaugh's right here. When it comes to black-on-black crime or just about any crime involving guns in the inner cities around the country, the hypocrites in the national, liberal media could care less:

On his syndicated radio show this afternoon, Rush Limbaugh went after the “anti-gun media” for, in his belief, not caring about gun violence when it affects urban neighborhoods like Chicago and Oakland.

“You guys ever been to Chicago? Do you know what happens in Chicago every night?” Limbaugh rhetorically asked the pro-gun politicians like Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) who’ve now become pro-gun control in the wake of last week’s massacre. “What happens in Chicago in a week dwarfs what happened in Connecticut. Just nobody’s reporting it. There’s no cameras up there. You don’t see it. All you see is the mayor warning the gangbangers to kill each other instead of other people. That’s all you ever see.”

Limbaugh continued: “Have you ever heard any politician go on an anti-gun rant when you’ve heard about urban violence? Does it ever happen? I’m asking. Those stories out of Chicago were happening daily.

 Drudge was highlighting them. But take your pick. The Rodney King incident, whatever, the Watts riots, pick one. Post-Katrina looting in New Orleans, was the anti-gun control out in force there? They never are, are they? I wonder why that is? Why is it the anti-gun people never use violence in urban neighborhoods as an example of why we have to get rid of guns?” he asked.

The conservative host then cited other cities for example: “Look at the gun violence that took place in Oakland against the cops and so forth. The anti-Second Amendment crowd never gins up, do they?”

He concluded: “There are more than 41 murders a month in Chicago. The lion’s share of them are taking place in poor black neighborhoods. I don’t hear the Reverend [Jesse] Jackson or any of the anti-gun media that we’re hearing from now raise a stink about guns in those places. That’s absolutely right. I wonder why that is. There has to be a reason.”

Rush Limbaugh: Obama Wants The Republican Party To ‘Destroy Itself’

On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh concluded that President Obama is trying to get the Republican party to “destroy itself.” Why else, he reasoned, would he be trying to convince an ardently anti-tax party that they need to raise taxes on the wealthy in order to handle the fiscal cliff crisis? With Democrats pressuring the GOP to agree to tax increases in the fiscal cliff negotiations, Limbaugh could reach no other conclusion than the Democrats are trying to facilitate the destruction of their opposition. It would be a confession by the GOP taxing the rich more would do a lot to improve the economy.

Limbaugh made it clear that any sign of capitulation on the part of the Republicans will be, basically, driving a stake through the heart of their core principles and leave a distaste in the mouths of their supporters.

“If Obama succeeds and ends up getting a confession from Republicans that tax cuts are the problem, tax cuts are the cause, what happens to the next Republican who campaigns on tax cuts? Not going to have a prayer.”

Limbaugh attacked Obama and the education system for creating a “distortion” of American history to explain how the country’s economic woes are in part to blame on lower taxes on the rich. He brought up a poll finding that Obama has not only won the argument on taxes, but now a sizable chunk of Republicans believe the president has a mandate to raise taxes on the top one percent of Americans.

New Florida Poll Shows Vindication of Clint Eastwood Strategy

Feel lucky, punk?  When Republicans chose Tampa as the site for the 2012 national convention, they didn’t do it for the weather, obviously.  They saw Florida as a key to their hopes of winning the presidential election and hoped to make an impact on voters with their week-long argument for Republican control of the White House.  According to a snap poll from Survey USA of 754 registered voters who watched the final night of the convention, they may have switched 10% of the vote with the effort:

1,211 adults were interviewed statewide 08/31/12, after Romney, Florida’s Marco Rubio and Clint Eastwood spoke to the convention 08/30/12. Of the adults, 1,100 were registered to vote in Florida. Of the registered voters, 754 heard the convention speeches. Of the convention speech watchers:
* 66% did not change their mind.
*  16% switched from “undecided” to Romney.
*  6% switched from Obama to Romney.
*  Adding those 2 together, that’s 22% who switched TO Romney.
*  10% switched from “undecided” to Obama.
*  2% switched from Romney to Obama.
*  Adding those 2 together, that’s 12% who switched TO Obama.
*  Comparing the 2 aggregate numbers: 22% switched TO Romney, 12% switched TO Obama.

There is, however, a big caveat in this figures, which is that the people who watched the convention on the final night were still more Republican than the general population.  The D/R/I of this sample was 24/48/27, and the D/R/I of the 2010 midterms was 36/36/29.  That’s still significantly less Republican than I would have thought for a convention audience, and this might well be the first datum of success for the Clint Eastwood strategy.  Another data point would be the saturation among registered voters in Florida for the final night; in this survey, nearly 69% of registered voters in Florida tuned in.  That’s a pretty remarkable reach, and if that’s the case around the country, I’d say that Team Romney and the RNC won big.

Here’s another data point, too: the split among Florida voters to Eastwood’s speech was 49% positive to only 24% negative by the next day — presumably even after the avalanche of criticism for it.  The overall split is positive in almost all demos except Democrats (30/45) and liberals (26/58).  Majorities of independents (51/26), seniors (54/20), men (54/24) approved of it, but the biggest positive response came from Hispanics, 62/21 — even better than Republicans (58/12).  Even women (44/25) and black voters (43/37) liked Eastwood’s extemporaneous riff on President Obama.

The ultimate question, though, is whose minds were changed — and that looks bad for Obama almost along the same lines.  The aggregate numbers are shown above, but here are some key breakdowns in the demos, which we’ll calculate by adding those switching from either undecided or Obama to Romney, and those switching from undecided or Romney to Obama, in that order:

• Men: 32/16 (Romney/Obama switchers)
• Women: 15/9
• 18-34YOs: 29/15
• Black: 38/19
• Hispanic: 25/17
• Independent: 37/23

One last caveat: those tuning in among those demos would tend to be a little self-selecting as having an open enough mind to be convinced to switch.  Still, it’s pretty clear that at least in Florida, Eastwood not only got people to tune in, he got them to enjoy the evening and perhaps open their mind to support Mitt Romney.  If I’m Mitt Romney, I’d say that this makes my day.

Bristol Palin Blasts Obama For Saying Sasha And Malia Shaped Gay Marriage View

Bristol Palin had some fightin’ words about President Obama on Thursday, regarding his invoking Malia and Sasha Obama in his announcement about supporting same-sex marriage. While it’s great to listen to your kids, she said, sometimes “dads simply need to be dads.” Thank goodness they’re not younger. Or, you know, we’d be looking at Dora the Explorer for attorney general.

In Obama’s remarks, he said Malia and Sasha have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. He added, “There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them and frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”

Palin, in a blog post entitled “Hail to the Chiefs — Malia and Sasha Obama,” wrote:

So let me get this straight – it’s a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it’s a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughters?

While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads. In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.

In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox.

Phew. Good thing we avoided that one. Her message to the president: be an “actual leader” instead of “merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.”

George Zimmerman Held On Second-Degree Murder Charge

There are some far-Right conservatives (aka Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh) who don't want to believe that racism still exists in this world. These extremists are so caught up in their ideology that they refuse to see prejudice based on race, much the continual spate of unarmed black men and boys killed by police officers (or neighborhood watch volunteers like George Zimmerman). And while they are right to scream at every example of white liberals using faux-racism to keep blacks down, dependent and voting Democrat, pretending that racism no longer exists, esp. when it comes to the Trayvon Martin's of the world, only does the conservative movement in this country harm:

George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer who says he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, has been charged with murder in the second degree, special prosecutor Angela Corey told reporters Wednesday.


Corey said that Zimmerman has surrendered to authorities in Florida and has been arrested. The charge carries a maximum possible sentence of life in prison.


Police say Zimmerman fatally shot Martin, a 17-year-old African-American, on February 26 in Sanford, Florida, after Martin began walking home from a convenience store. Zimmerman, who is Hispanic and was a neighborhood watch volunteer, had called 911 to complain about a suspicious person in the neighborhood. He was released without charges after claiming self-defense, but the case was referred to a special prosecutor as thousands converged on Sanford to join in protests calling for Zimmerman's arrest.

Washington Post Declares Rush Limbaugh Boycott Nearly Over, Failed

I'm no big fan of Rush Limbaugh, but anything that beats faux-outrage from the Left (esp. when it involves a leftist smear merchant like Media Matters that engages in nothing but lies, hypocrisy and propaganda) gets my vote:

The effort to boycott advertisers on the Rush Limbaugh radio program appears to be drawing to a close, according to the Washington Post. Limbaugh had sparked the ire of a number of progressive groups for his multi-day attacks on Sandra Fluke for advocating Congress mandate copay-less insurance coverage of birth control and contraceptives. On Wednesday, WaPo’s Paul Farhi declared the boycott on Limbaugh’s advertisers was largely a failure.


“The dark clouds hanging over Rush Limbaugh appear to be lifting,” writes Farhi. “On Monday, the 600 or so radio stations that air Limbaugh’s program were told by his syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks, to resume running “barter” ads during his program.” Clear Channel, Premier’s parent network, had previously suspended barter ads while Limbaugh was in the news.


The boycott was initially successful, forcing fewer than five of Limbaugh’s national advertisers to cease funding the program. However, boycott organizers who claimed that over 100 advertisers dropped Limbaugh’s program were stretching the truth as “some of these companies weren’t regular Limbaugh sponsors in the first place.” Most of the advertisers who opted to drop their ads from Limbaugh’s program were only airing those spots in regional markets.


At the height of the controversy, Limbaugh lost two small syndicated stations in Western Massachusetts and Hawaii. All of the major markets that carry Limbaugh’s program opted to weather the storm – now it seems the clouds are clearing.


The organizers of the boycott effort are not done yet. The liberal group MoveOn.org has organized a petition with SignOn.org which asks for signatures to force Limbaugh’s program off his 180 stations. But with interest in the month-old scandal waning, the likelihood of further success in the “Stop Rush” is in doubt.
