How Godless, Social Liberalism Killed Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman

NationalReview.com:
Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the most talented actors of his generation, a leading man without leading-man looks, an actor whose magnetism onscreen sprang from intelligence and fervor rather than appearance. But his self-inflicted death is yet another hallmark of the broken leftist culture that dominates Hollywood, enabling rather than preventing the loss of some of its greatest talents. Libertarianism becomes libertinism without a cultural force pushing back against the penchant for sin; Hollywood has no such cultural force. In fact, the Hollywood demand is for more self-abasement, less spirituality, less principle, less standards.

No one knows what sort of demons plagued Seymour Hoffman. But without a sound moral structure around those in Hollywood who have every financial and talent advantage, the path to destruction is far too easy.

Mindy McCready Suicide Marks The 5th Person To Die After Being On 'Celebrity Rehab'

It's bad enough that most celebrities are morally-bankrupt narcissists who constantly need their ego boosted by over-the-top stans. But when you're a sick celebrity (even a d-list one) whose clearly suffering from mental problems that go way beyond the glitz and glamour of Hollyweird, the last thing you need is a faux-psychologist like Dr. Drew preying on you, all for his own gain, on national TV. In other words, TV shows like "Celebrity Rehab" that highlight human train-wrecks do no good for people who really need longterm, professional help:

NYDailyNews.com:
In the wake of the tragic loss of country star Mindy McCready, people are taking notice of the troubling statistic surrounding reality show, "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Pinsky."
\
McCready is the fifth celebrity to have appeared on the show and died shortly after. The country star was cast in season three for ongoing issues with alcohol and taking pills, and took her life on Sunday in an apparent suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On her season of "Celebrity Rehab" alone, two other people succumbed to their addictions. Mike Starr, bassist of the band Alice in Chains, died in 2011 after a drug overdose, and former "Real World" cast member Joey Kovar died in 2012 from opiate intoxication, believed to be in the form of a prescription painkiller he was taking.

From season two - police brutality victim Rodney King died in 2012 after drowning in his swimming pool. King's autopsy revealed he had a mixture of cocaine, alcohol and marijuana in his system at the time, which contributed to his death. And "Grease" actor Jeff Conaway, who was a participant in season one and two, died in 2011 of health complications he apparently contracted from years of substance abuse.
The deaths have shined a spotlight on the VH1 show, and specifically its host Dr. Drew Pinsky. Some, like musician Richard Marx, suggest Pinsky should be held accountable.

"I think "Dr" Drew Pinsky should change his name to Kevorkian. Same results." Marx wrote on his Twitter page. After receiving some backlash, he amended his claim.

Anna Nicole Smith Is Dead

CNN is reporting that the Queen of All Skanks, Anna Nicole Smith, has died.

Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital, a law enforcement source told CNN. Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel, according to news reports.

"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Smith's attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. "I don't know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving."

Smith's nurse called Seminole Hard Rock Hotel workers at 1:38 p.m. and security went to the room, hotel officials said. Fire rescue workers from both the Seminole Indian tribe and from Hollywood Fire-Rescue arrived minutes later and Smith was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood at 2:10 p.m.

Smith was involved in a paternity suit regarding the parentage of her daughter, Danielynn, as well as other disputes, including some regarding a house she stayed at in the Bahamas around the time she gave birth.

Hey, she was a trainwreck. I'm surprised that she didn't die sooner.
